Chapter Eighteen
Omega departed Windy Valley, returning to the central area of Mystic Ruins. It was then that his scanner picked up another E-Series signal, and he began rolling through the log of E-Series robots that were still active.
E-102 Gamma, active, and upgraded, in Robotnik's service.
E-101 Beta, active, and upgraded, in Robotnik's service.
E-103 Delta, liberated.
E-100 Alpha, active, in Robotnik's service.
E-104 Epsilon, active, in Robotnik's service.
"TARGET ACQUIRED!" Omega buzzed; "E-104 EPSILON SHALL BE ENGAGED IMMEDIATELY! E-104 EPSILON HAS BEEN DETECTED IN THE REGION! LOCATION: ANCIENT RUINS NEAR THE VICINITY OF FINAL EGG! ENGAGE TARGET, PREPARE TO DESTROY! EXTERMINATE ALL ROBOTNIK UNITS, LIBERATE TRAPPED ANIMALS IN RAIN OF FIRE!"
He roared up his thrusters again, and flew over the mountains, flying high above the Mystic Ruins. Omega was just approaching the site where he had battled Big the Cat in the hunt for Froggy when, just then, the battle robot's internal sensors began processing an update on Robotnik's current whereabouts.
"EGG CARRIER DOWN!" Omega said, "DOCTOR ROBOTNIK HAS RESORTED TO FIRING A MISSILE AT STATION SQUARE, MILES TAILS PROWER IS ENGAGED WITH DISABLING WARHEAD! MISSILE PROVED TO BE A DUD! SONIC'S WHEREABOUTS, CURRENTLY UNKNOWN!"
The battle robot returned his focus to the ruins, flying near the ancient echidna temple. And there, he spotted Epsilon hiding in the forest near the ruin. Omega flew in to engage, and Epsilon spotted him.
"E-123 OMEGA IDENTIFIED!" Epsilon buzzed, "SCAN INDICATION THAT YOU HAVE DEFECTED FROM DOCTOR ROBOTNIK!"
"ALL BROTHERS SHALL BE LIBERATED, THEIR ANIMAL CORES RELEASED!" Omega responded.
"THE MALFUNCTION WILL BE CORRECTED! PREPARE FOR ERASURE!"
Epsilon shot at Omega, who flew around the attack, and fired back on his brother. An explosion tore off the E-Series robot's leg, and Epsilon limped. Omega grabbed Epsilon and tore the blaster from his arm, then he threw him into a tree and opened fire, blowing off his arm. And then, Omega delivered the final strike, blasting Epsilon to pieces.
"MISSION COMPLETE!" Omega announced, watching a green Flicky fly free.
"What was that?"
Omega's sensors detected the presence of someone else, and flew to a distance, watching from above as Big the Cat emerged, with Froggy on his shoulders. Omega chose not to engage, and turned in the direction of Final Egg, ready to battle his next target.
"Funny!" Big muttered, "I thought I heard something. C'mon, Froggy. Let's go back to bed!"
Froggy croaked, and followed the large purple cat back to their shack, ready to resume their much-needed rest...
