Chapter Twenty-Five

Perfect Chaos roared again and the beast's roar echoed across the water-filled ruins of Station Square, shattering windows that had not yet been shattered, and a ruined building collapsed into the streets below. Omega stepped forward, observing the beast that had ravaged the metropolis, bringing harm to who knew how many people here.

"That is one massive monster..." Shirley remarked breathlessly as she looked upon the watery beast, "It's so... big."

"DO NOT ALLOW THE CREATURE'S SIZE TO DISTRACT YOU FROM THE DANGER AND DESTRUCTION THAT IS HAPPENING!" Omega buzzed, "THAT IS A FORCE OF DESTRUCTION AND IT WILL OBLITERATE THE WORLD UNLESS IT IS STOPPED BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! COMMENCING ATTACK, ENGAGING EXTERMINATION MODE!"

Omega's rockets fired up and the battle robot blasted off from the roof. He flew towards the watery beast in the heart of the flooded city, his clawed arms morphing into cannons again. The super Badnik's targeting systems kicked into gear and Omega raised his weapons, ready to protect as many people as he could.

And the whole situation started when he was working for Robotnik, when the doctor sent him to the Floating Island, when Omega blew up the Master Emerald and freed the creature. Now, the battle Badnik was going to correct the mistake he'd made while serving the mad scientist.

Perfect Chaos turned in Omega's direction, his green eyes fixed upon the battle robot, and let out another earth-shattering roar from its maw. Hate burned within Chaos, accompanied by a thirst for destruction.

"CITY-DESTROYING WATER MONSTERS SHALL BE OBLITERATED!" Omega intoned, "CHAOS TARGETED! ANNIHILATION COMMENCING! LOCKED, LOADED, OPENING FIRE!"

Chaos roared again and Omega opened fire, unleashing a full barrage of bullets and lasers into the beast's mouth. A water tentacle rose into the air and swiped at the battle robot, Omega's sensors detected it in time and the Badnik soared higher into the air over Perfect Chaos' head, swiftly avoiding the attack.

The water monster growled, watching Omega with disdain, and then spat out a beam of energy at Omega. Omega braced himself and darted out of the way of the monster's attack, then he dove towards Chaos, firing missiles and unleashing more lasers upon the watery deity of destruction.

WHAM! A tentacle struck Omega, sending him crashing into a building. Omega recovered and flew back into the air, just before Chaos unleashed a laser beam, and the Badnik soared high above the ruins of Station Square before the laser struck the building and obliterated it to rubble. Chaos roared and Omega detected a surge of energy, an indication Chaos was about to fire again.

Just then, Chaos stopped, and Omega's sensors detected something else. The sound of repulsor lifts and engines rumbled over the city, both Badnik and monster looked up, looking in the direction of the noise.

A massive ship loomed over the ruins, sporting the same design as the Egg Carrier itself. Omega scanned it and hid himself behind a building as his systems verified the ship's designation and its pilot.

The Egg Carrier II, constructed by Doctor Robotnik. Robotnik had another Egg Carrier.

"Never underestimate a genius such as Doctor Robotnik!" Robotnik's voice boomed over the city VIA a loudspeaker, "The Egg Carrier II was built in case of an event like this happening! You have made the error of betraying your master, Chaos, and it is time to suffer the consequences!"

'I must get Shirley to a safer distance.' Omega thought, 'Just in case the doctor's weapons damage Station Square more and she ends up in harm's way.'

He flew out of his hiding spot and raced back to the rooftop where Shirley was positioned, picked her up, and flew over the ruins with the human female tight in his arms. Shirley clung to his shoulder nervously, Omega could detect her anxiety levels, and he heard the sounds of explosions. His flight speed slowed and he turned to watch as Robotnik fired on Perfect Chaos.

Laser after laser, missile after missile, streaked towards the beast and the Egg Carrier II fired everything it had. Luckily for Omega, the doctor did not seem to notice or care that one of his most prized creations was close by and watching.

"GET A LOAD OF THIS!" Robotnik thundered.

A massive laser streaked towards Chaos from the front of the new Egg Carrier, taking out a couple nearby buildings. However, when the explosion settled, a massive beam of energy struck the battleship.

Perfect Chaos was still standing.

Robotnik screamed as his damaged super fortress, consumed by explosions, fell towards Station Square. Omega spotted his creator getting out in his Egg Mobile and Robotnik went flying as the second Egg Carrier went up in flames. Chaos roared in triumph, shaking the city with his ferocious cry, as if to indicate that nothing was ever going to stop it...
