Chapter Twenty-Seven
Omega's sight returned to normal as the flash settled and he watched as Sonic hovered in the air, surrounded by a great aura of power with his fur glowing gold, his once green eyes flashing a shade of red while the quills on the back of his head stood up. With the power of the emeralds, Sonic had achieved his super form.
Super Sonic stared up at the beast that was Chaos, ready for action. Omega fired up his thrusters and the super-powered hedgehog took to the air while the great water monster roared again. The black-red battle robot took flight, soaring beside Super Sonic, and ready for action.
His battle systems were engaged, all weapons were locked and loaded, it was time to exterminate Perfect Chaos.
Chaos' jaw opened and a roar shook the city, tentacles rose from the water and shot towards both super hedgehog and super Badnik. Sonic curled into a golden ball and blasted through the incoming water tendrils. Omega hovered higher, flying sharply, and avoided Chaos' tentacle attacks. Omega scanned Chaos, his targeting computer detected a weak point;
The brain.
"ALL SYSTEMS FIRE!" Omega buzzed.
He hovered high, his claws shifting into cannons, and he let loose, raining lasers down on Perfect Chaos, aiming for the brain in his head. The water beast roared and the bullets passed through his watery hide, only to stop short of the target.
Chaos howled and fired another beam of energy. Omega flew out of the way and the beam shot into the sky, then Chaos let out a shriek and Omega conducted a scan, seeing Super Sonic flying away from the beast. The hedgehog must have landed a hit and gotten lucky, but Perfect Chaos was still very powerful.
Rage seemed to fuel one's strength, especially if you drew upon the negative side of the Chaos Emeralds' power.
Omega's engines burned with more fuel and the E-Series robot rocketed towards Perfect Chaos, determined to land a decisive blow that would be in his and Sonic's favor. Chaos fired another blast and Omega barrel-rolled out of the way, he flew in as close as possible to the beast's head and fired a missile into it's brain.
Unlike on his first attempt, the projectile reached it's target and exploded upon impact with the fleshy part of the enemy. The water monster roared with fury and swiped at Omega with a tentacle, green eyes ablaze with rage.
"YOU MAY BE POWERFUL, BUT YOU ARE INFERIOR!" Omega declared, "YOU WILL BE DESTROYED!"
"Careful, Omega!" Sonic yelled, "Chaos is still a kind creature, but driven by anger and sorrow!"
"NEUTRALIZATION MUST BE ACHIEVED! CHAOS WILL BE DEFEATED!"
Just then, a tentacle grabbed Omega and began swinging him around. Luckily, Omega was able to move his arms and he fired every laser and bullet he had in his arsenal upon Perfect Chaos, even as his attacks did nothing.
Super Sonic soared in, avoiding Chaos' swaying tentacles, and made a kamikaze dive into the beast's head, striking the brain area and the water monster's grip on Omega loosened. He shot back up into the sky and fired a full barrage of missiles towards Perfect Chaos. Tentacles rose up and swiped the missiles, blocking Omega's incoming strikes as the robot kept firing all that he had.
Another blue beam of energy burst from Chaos' mouth into the air towards Omega, who flew up and out of the way at the last second. He streaked down towards the ruins, avoiding tentacles and energy beams all the way, and flew alongside Super Sonic as the hedgehog went in for another strike.
Omega unleashed another barrage of lasers and bullets upon Perfect Chaos as he flew closer, then he veered away from the beast and flew towards the ruins of a building while more tentacles came for the bulky Badnik.
"Watch out, Omega!" Sonic called.
The robot turned, staring down Perfect Chaos in the eye, and the water beast stared back at him. A tentacle came right for Omega, swaying threateningly, and Super Sonic flew in, intercepting the tentacle and keeping it from nabbing the reformed Badnik.
"Is that the best you can do?" The super-powered hedgehog taunted, Omega could see that Sonic's aura was getting brighter with more Chaos energy.
Super Sonic winked at Omega, then he flew towards the watery deity of destruction at high velocity. The hedgehog turned into a blur, Chaos roared again, and Omega kept his weapons ready. Super Sonic flew into the beast's mouth and then streaked into Chaos' head where the brain was, the golden hedgehog raced around it, glowing brighter while the beast roared.
Omega fired several missiles, aiming at Chaos. The missiles struck the beast in the eyes and blinded him, Sonic kept racing around the brain until the positive energy of the Emeralds overcame the negative forces that fueled Chaos as his monstrous form vanished in a bright flash...
