In the depths of his private sanctum, he meticulously laid out his preparations, determined to be ready for a maybe threat that no one else could have foreseen. Emiya was in Gotham, a name he hasn't heard in over a decade. It might not be the Emiya he knew, but it was still here and if history is of proof, where ever an Emiya goes, death follows.
Whether it was the tragic demise of all the residents on a remote island due to the reckless and unethical experiments of a mad scientist or the catastrophic collapse of a grand Galla hall, claiming the lives of some of the most nefarious individuals present, one thing remained constant: an Emiya was at the heart of it all.
Emiya, a name that seemed to carry with it a legacy of calamity, represented men with unyielding missions, willing to go to any lengths to achieve their objectives, even if it meant committing patricide or crashing a flight. The consequences of their actions were far-reaching, affecting not just themselves but also the innocent bystanders who paid the ultimate price for their deeds.
And now there was an Emiya in his territory. The sight of the Emiya face on his computer screen sent a shiver down his spine. Messy auburn hair, honey-colored eyes, a blend of Asian and European features – the boy appeared utterly ordinary, just another unassuming individual. But it was precisely that normalcy which raised a red flag for him.
As he studied the picture, he couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unease. The boy was not alone; beside him stood his younger sister, an innocent girl of around eleven, too young to be aware of her family's dark trade. Yet, it was the revelation of their registered guardian that truly set off alarm bells in his mind.
Carmine Falcone, a name synonymous with power, crime, and the shadowy underworld of Gotham, was listed as the guardian for both the boy and his sister. The implications were deeply troubling.
He will have to look into them and be prepared if they turn out to be a potential threat.
As he immersed himself in analyzing the situation, the distinctive sound of a lift opening up reached his sharp ears. He knew it could only mean one thing – members of the Bat family were arriving on the scene.
"So what have we got today, bats?" a familiar voice broke the silence, and Tim stepped forward, accompanied by three more members of the Bat family.
"Hey isn't that the new crush of whole school?" He asked turning to Steph.
"That's one one good picture I must say" Steph replied.
"And why are we looking at the face of someone who may give identity crisis to Dick, father?" It was his youngest who spoke it.
As he turned to address his wards, he took a moment to study their expressions. Curiosity danced in their eyes, but he couldn't help but notice a hint of apprehension in Cass's demeanor. His keen eyes picked up on the subtle nuances of her emotions. Raising an eyebrow, he honed in on her.
As Cassandra felt the Big Bat's discerning gaze upon her, she knew that hiding something from him was near impossible. He had a way of seeing through the walls she put up, and in this moment, she realized that she would have to share something with him.
However, there was a sacred pact between her and the faker, a secret they both had agreed not to reveal it to anyone, cherishing it as something special that was exclusively hers. For Cassandra, who had experienced a tumultuous upbringing not having much to call her own, this secret represented something precious, something she fiercely guarded. And with that she said.
"Met at library, helps studying, nice guy" She didn't speak much, and when she did, it was often reserved for moments within the close-knit circle of her family.
Bat nodded, seems to have been enough information.
"Oooo, has Cass gotten herself a boyfriend, she has been secretly going on library dates with" The playful remark from pretty in purple disrupted the solemn atmosphere, and both the Big Bat and the Small Bird went rigid.
Cassandra's keen instincts sensed the brewing storm in the room. She knew the signs all too well – the tension in the Big Bat's posture, the calculating glint in his eyes, and the focused determination etched on the Little Bird's face. It was clear that they were both preparing for action, each in their own way.
The Big Bat's mind was likely racing with tactical plans, considering every possible scenario and strategizing how to deal with the situation at hand. She could almost see him mentally mapping out the city, analyzing vantage points and calculating the best building to hang the faker from while he scared the life of him, something he sure would fail at.
Meanwhile, the Little Bird, true to his nature, was probably contemplating the array of weapons at his disposal. His blades were like extensions of himself, and he knew them intimately. In this charged atmosphere, his mind was likely deciding which one would make the most neat cut.
Her next words would decide the fate of her faker.
"No", Cassandra's simple but resolute word hung in the air, a declaration that had the power to alter the course of their actions. The Big Bat and the Little Bird exchanged a glance, realizing that she had seen through their intentions and understood the implications of their thoughts. Her keen instincts and perception were not to be underestimated, and they respected her insight.
In that moment, the tension in the room dissipated, replaced by a sense of unity and mutual understanding. Cassandra had a way of cutting through the noise and bringing clarity to the situation.
The big bat coughed in his hand.
"We are looking at Shirou Emiya, son of Kiritsugu Emiya, under the guardianship of Carmine Falcone" , a revelation that sent ripples of surprise through the room. The combination of those two names in a single sentence was enough to make even the seasoned members of the Bat family pause.
Their collective years of experience had taught them to be cautious when dealing with anyone associated with the Falcone family, but the addition of the name Emiya introduced an unexpected twist to the situation. Kiritsugu Emiya was a name that held weight in certain circles.
As the room fell silent, each member absorbed the information, their minds working through the potential implications of this unexpected connection. The Big Bat's sharp analytical skills were already at work, undoubtedly devising a plan to investigate further and determine the extent of any potential threat.
"We are still not sure, if he is a threat or not, but we would have to take precautions" Everyone understood the assignment and thus nodded in understanding.
With that everyone prepared to depart for their respective patrols. Though before Cassandra left, the Big Bat called out to her.
"Be careful"
This chapter takes the story ahead by little, this is all part of arc 1. He is not projecting any realty marble. Cass is just too good at reading people, thus when Shirou opened up to her, the feel that she got from his presence was similar to what his realty marble is, it is also a metaphor for another situation that I am building up. There is a story planned and not just a slice of life, frankly I have dropped a few hints on where this is going, but no spoilers. I will just put it here that Shirou knows a lot more about Cass than one thinks, how, for that one need to read between the lines, also why he seemed to open up to her, some part of him sympathise with her which makes him drop the facade. In my sight Shirou is a slow learner when it comes to emotions and his concept of love is also just as skewed. Thus it will take time, I don't think there would be any power balance left if Shirou just start shooting swords. And often the passive abilities that he should get from possessing so many noble phantasm is also neglected, this is a Shirou raised by one of the best assassins and is selfish in his own sense. Also I do have a chapter planned from Shirou's perspective, but I have to build up to it.
