With the current lull in the fighting I am now able to better analyze the situation while the men also fortify the perimeter in a way that deters another attack. At least right away. Even though technically I have an entire Comand staff, the Specialist is my only real officer, despite not technically being an officer.

"Are we in anyway capable of communicating with Enclave Maincom in Florida?" I ask.

"No, only local communications are possible, I was never able to finish getting the long range radio beacon up and running." The Specialist informs me.

"Is there any good news I should know about?"

"Apparently there is an old history museum within our perimeter so I ordered some men to go searching through it. My hopes are that were at the time some old artillery in there."

"How good would that do for us without ammunition?"

"Of course we can't just make ammunition for howitzers assuming we could even get the heavy guns to work. However traditional black power canons? All we need to do is find the right propellent and heavy metal balls that fit. Even if the guns only last for one or two shots, that's all we need to bust through their defenses."

"Might work. I still would like a plan B."

"We have some Virdibirds however they are all damaged."

"All we need is to get them in flying condition and we can just escape."

"Not enough for all of us."

"If at least one gets out they could inform Maincom about our situation and send help."

"CannibalIze several to make sure one is in full condition."

"That's the plan then."

Thankfully we managed to get everything set up before the Raiders attack. The Bird is up in the air before the Raider armor reaches the gates.

"Fire now." I order. The canons are left unusable after firing but they did their job and left the hostile armor as smoldering wrecks.

"Fire team Apple Jack, Fire team Fin's Town move up."

"Sir yes sir." Their commanders respond before moving up to secure positions behind the wreckage.

"Sir, I think we might be able to do this." The specialist says to me.

"Agreed. All we have to do is hold out for a few hours."

The fighting lasts all day and as the sun starts to set and our supplies begin to run low, that's when we saw a fleet of Virtibirds come our way.

"Specialist we are going home."
