Chapter Twenty-Three – Rumble in Connecticut
Right now, somewhere in Connecticut…
It was January the start of the New Year and in a few weeks the WWE Royal Rumble would take place in San Diego, California. There was a lot going on in Connecticut where wrestling was concerned but there was even more going on where the DX family, Seth and the God Girls were concerned. After having their children, Montez Ford and Sasha Banks left the hospital in Greenwich and took a walk in the woods somewhere in Connecticut and found themselves face-to-face with the Deadman. On the advice of Shawn Michaels' daughter Cheyenne, Sasha returned to the hospital with her and Cameron Michaels while the Deadman talked to Montez Ford alone after they had both been threatened by the crazy Dan and Charlotte McCool over the DX family jewels.
The two men had much to catch up on as both Montez Ford and the Undertaker were the subject of much controversy over the latter part of the previous year. Ford had been making out with the former Women's Champion Rhea Ripley to the chagrin of both the fans and the roster. His unapologetically brash and cavalier behaviour sat well with Beth Hardy but not DX and cost him his victory at Survivor Series back in November. Bianca Belair had garnered much sympathy from the fans and the roster as she was heavily pregnant at the time and very distraught over a very open affair between Rhea Ripley and Montez Ford.
Since then, things between Montez Ford and Bianca Belair seemed to be back on track and the birth of their first child together reunited the couple over Christmas, as it did Seth Rollins and Sasha Banks. All seemed to be going well and it looked like both the fans and DX were willing to welcome Montez Ford back into their good graces. It was a New Year and a new opportunity for Montez Ford to start over with his wife and baby girl, so why had his interest in the Deadman suddenly returned? The plan to destroy the God Girls from within had been nixed. At least that was the case up until this morning, but what Sasha didn't know is that it was no accident that they were in the same place as the Undertaker moments ago. It turns out that Montez Ford wasn't over his issue with Seth Rollins, in fact, his problems with Seth Rollins were about to go up to a whole new level with the Undertaker fully onboard.
"Let's talk," the Deadman said and he walked with Montez Ford through the woods somewhere in Connecticut. "I'm so happy for you and your wife I really am, but I don't like the way things went down at Survivor Series last year. I thought you got robbed of your opportunity with Roman Reigns. Obviously, you and Rhea aren't really messing around with each other but the fans thought you were and that's half of getting over in this business. I talk to Roman on a regular basis, we get on really well and I like to touch base with him quite often. After Survivor Series I went over to his home in Pensacola to have a little in person time with him and his family and the Usos were over. As I was expressing how I felt the match at Survivor Series went I talked to his little boy Abiyah who was there too. Abi said that after the match, Seth Rollins didn't go home to Sasha, so I asked the kid where Seth went. I mean surely with Sasha just weeks out from having their baby he'd be going home to see her in Fort Lauderdale once Survivor Series was over. When Abiyah told me where Seth went, that's when I knew it was time to get rid of him as leader of the God Girls,"
Montez Ford sighed; he knew where Seth went that night too. "He went to see Bianca that night while I was "making out" with Rhea Ripley in the arena parking lot." Montez Ford shook his head emotionally, "I was so ashamed of myself for that and after we made up, I begged Bianca to forgive me. I was a rotten husband and a lousy role model for my daughter, I wept like a baby the night we made up, I couldn't believe I let being the Undisputed Champion push me so low. But then when I thought about it, I realised that nothing had changed between us,"
The Deadman nodded, "That's right," he said seeing the fury start to rise in the eyes of Montez Ford. "You're trying to get over with Rhea Ripley and in the meantime, Seth Rollins taking up real estate in your wife's emotions. Instead of you being there to comfort her, he's there and it's not just with Bianca, it's with all of the God Girls. When AJ Styles was trying to get with Alexa Bliss, Seth didn't approve so they broke up. When Finn Balor was trying to spend more time with Becky Lynch, Seth made sure the God Girls was more important to her than her own husband was. The man is out of control, so much so that he didn't even go home to his wife the night after Survivor Series, he went home to your wife! I mean, doesn't that make you so freakin' mad Montez Ford?! If I were you, I would have gone to the Sandbox with a baseball bat and knocked his black-haired brains out all over the DX family room floor! He needs to be stopped and I know just how to make sure Seth Rollins' New Year is far worse than his last one,"
Montez Ford nodded now seething with rage, after months of being reconciled to Bianca and making peace with Seth and the God Girls, his misplaced anger at the leader of the God Girls was back.
"I thought I'd put this all behind me but this morning, at the hospital in New York City, after giving birth to our first child, what was my wife doing? Planning our future? No. Spending time with me together in the best city in the world? No. She was on her way to Greenwich, Connecticut and just like that, we're back at square one! Seth first, Montez Ford last. I'm in the back seat while Seth Rollins is driving the Bentley with my beautiful wife by his side. She's his right-hand woman you know Taker. He calls her his Treasurer of Secrets. My wife is the glue that keeps Seth and the God Girls together, they can't do nuthin' without her. She's more valuable to him than Sasha is and he keeps her real close,"
"And where does that leave you? Picking up what's left of your marriage and following Seth and the God Girls around like some lovesick puppy. That's no life for a main event player like you Montez Ford but I've been watching this all play out since Seth Rollins married Sasha Banks years ago. Now that Sasha has claimed her inheritance as a McMahon there will be no limit to the height that woman can go. Sasha is a force to be reckoned with and now she cannot be stopped. I want to help both of you reclaim your families, just like I'm about to reclaim mine,"
"What do you mean?" Montez asked The Undertaker curiously, "Do you have issues with DX, not just Seth Rollins?"
The Deadman's eyes suddenly went cold as he explained his feelings on both to Montez Ford in the silent woods of Connecticut.
"DX have had a stake in my life for too long and with Vince McMahon gone, I do not like the direction they are taking this business in. With my help Montez Ford, you and Sasha can stop lagging behind Seth and the God Girls and instead, you can lead the future of this business with me.
I already talked to a few people and we're very close to going into this thing for real but I need you to bring Sasha Banks back into the fold. Bring her back to the place she was in last year when she wanted to destroy the God Girls. I need her to see things from our perspective, because with the Boss on board, Seth Rollins will be easier to stop. Loyalty is one thing I respect about Seth Rollins, unfortunately for you, Finn Balor and AJ Styles and the Rock, his loyalty only extends to other men's wives. It's time to take back control Mr Ford and it starts with me right now. Now are you in or not?"
Montez Ford looked as the striking physique of Rhea Ripley emerged from the woods and she stood by the Deadman with a devious smile. Rhea Ripley looked like she had been talking to the Deadman too, she was one of the ones that he had convinced to align with him after Survivor Series and there were others.
"I'm in Tez, whadya say, are you coming home to Mami or are you staying in your lane, six steps behind your wife?" Rhea asked Tez who hadn't seen Rhea since he reunited with Bianca over the Christmas holidays.
"You want your daughter to respect you? You better man up and take control of your future in this business, or are you just gonna let Seth Rollins walk all over you and rob you of your legacy?" Undertaker said and Montez Ford shook his hand firmly.
"I'm in, just tell me what you want me to do," Montez said and The Undertaker nodded.
"Just leave everything to me Montez Ford, all will be revealed at the Royal Rumble," Undertaker replied and he put his hand on Montez' shoulder and squeezed it supportively. "It's gonna be one Hell of a show,"
Meanwhile back at Greenwich Hospital…
The God Girls waved Sasha Banks over as she returned to the hospital with Cheyenne and Cameron Michaels. Seth and Bianca gave a sigh of relief as both Havana and Perfection returned to them and they could return to business.
"Baby Michelle's parents are here and there's about to be a miracle," Seth told Sasha and he furrowed his brow. "Where's Montez Ford?"
"We got ambushed by the McCools while we were walking in the woods, then The Undertaker came to save us. He told me to come back here while he talked to Tez alone. I'm sure Tez'll be here soon, the McCools set a bear trap and Tez got caught up in a rope and hung in a tree by his ankle!"
"Uh my baby!" Bianca cried out as Perfection pulled on her nose, "not you baby I mean my other baby. The McCools thought that if they went after you, they'd get the DX family jewels," Bianca turned to Cheyenne Galloway, "You did the right thing by bringing Sasha back here,"
Cheyenne nodded, "Anything for you guys Bianca, the God Girls are awesome and you're an awesome mom. I was happy to return Perfection to you," she said and Sasha shared a tense look with HBK's daughter.
"What about me Cheyenne, don't you think I'm a good mother too?" she asked HBK's eldest girl but before Shawn could dispel the obvious tension between them, the McCools arrived with baby Michelle's angry mom Roxanne and embarrassed father Jonathan. They were flanked by local and network press and it was time for the world to see the miracle that was about to take place.
Up in Heaven, Jesus Christ turned to Roman Reigns while Abiyah held onto baby Michelle.
"Just remember what I said. Once I perform this miracle, you will both have to keep an eye on baby Michelle. Her parents cannot be trusted. Now, are you ready?" Jesus asked Abiyah while Roman chuckled.
"Sorry, that was a good DX impression," Roman said and Jesus smiled while Abiyah nodded that he was indeed ready.
"Baby Michelle, I resurrect you," Jesus said and seconds later the Heavens opened and down on Earth in Greenwich, Connecticut a beam of light hit Greenwich Hospital causing the staff to run back inside away from all the commotion outside.
"What was that?" a journalist said in reference to the light.
"Never mind that let's get on with this press conference. I want these people arrested, they mercy killed Roxanne and Jonathan's baby!" Charlotte McCool cried out pointing to Seth and the God Girls.
"Its part of their fundamental Christian ritual, they take children away from their evil parents and then sacrifice them to their version of God!" Dan McCool added and Roxanne nodded while Jonathan shook his head regretting the whole idea entirely.
"Its true they're baby killers!" Roxanne cried out. "They killed my baby Michelle!"
Suddenly the doctor that had delivered baby Michelle came out of the hospital and he was holding a baby.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I was the doctor who delivered baby Michelle this morning and I was the doctor that confirmed that baby Michelle had indeed died moments after being born. It appears that God has the final say this morning as the baby that I am holding is none other than baby Michelle and Roxanne, Jonathan, I can assure you that baby Michelle is not dead. Baby Michelle is alive!" the doctor said and the public cheered as the doctor handed baby Michelle back to her parents who couldn't believe it.
"She's alive, our baby Michelle is alive!" Jonathan said holding his daughter who was moving and crying like the healthy baby she was, only Seth and the God Girls knew that she was more than just an ordinary baby.
Roxanne did too and she turned to the McCools confused, "You said that she was dead and that we would get millions of dollars in a wrongful death suit. But she's alive. What the Hell is going on she's alive, what are we supposed to do now?!" Roxanne said angrily and the McCools tried to calm her down knowing that they had just been bested by Seth and the God Girls.
"Relax this is just what we expected. We got another trick up our sleeves so just relax and hold the baby like you're truly happy she's alive," Charlotte McCool said and Roxanne turned back to her husband and all the cameras currently flashing in her face, letting the world believe that she was the world's greatest and most blessed mom of the miracle baby Michelle.
The story was all over the news within the hour and everyone was talking about the resurrection of baby Michelle and the miracle that had taken place in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Roman applauded while sidling up to Seth and the God Girls who were standing at the steps of the hospital with the medical staff who were marvelling at what had just happened, "I need to talk to you guys once the press leaves. Jesus gave me a message while I was in Heaven with Abiyah, Faith Star and Rebecca Rogan," he said.
"What did he say?" Seth asked while applauding baby Michelle's return along with everyone else.
"He said that we need to keep an eye on her and that her parents cannot be trusted. He said they're working with the McCools which means they're working against DX, which means they're working against Seth and the God Girls. This kid must be special," Roman said and he hugged Abiyah lovingly, "almost as special as mine,"
Sasha Banks huffed as she was not happy at all. "So once again my children are being looked over because of another God Girl," she said annoyed and she turned to Seth, "So I guess you're going to be part of this assignment to look after baby Michelle, right?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be? Weren't you listening? Jesus Christ said she needs to be looked after, who better to look after her than Seth and the God Girls?" Seth said enthusiastically and the God Girls cheered in agreement but Sasha was not happy at all.
"God damn it Seth Rollins, when are you going to put me and your real family first?! Now that we finally have our own children, I thought you'd change your priorities but you haven't. Now your assignments over, all you've done is find another reason not to spend time with me. I suggest you think long and hard before you agree to be part of this Seth. I'm going home to Fort Lauderdale, are you coming with me?" Sasha said angrily and DX decided to quickly come to Seth's defence.
"Actually, I was hoping you guys would stay for dinner at the Sandbox. The Royal Rumble's coming up so we won't see each other for awhile, could you hang around before going back to Florida?" Hunter asked Sasha with puppy dog eyes and the Boss relented at the sight of Hunter's soft brown eyes melting her frost-bitten heart.
"I can never say no to you Hunter," Sasha said fondly and Shawn and the rest of the DX family gave a sigh of relief as they didn't want Seth and Sasha to leave Connecticut on bad terms. Especially since they had a lot to talk about now that baby Michelle was back on Earth and Seth and the God Girls were definitely going to be needed.
"So, who's winning the Men's Royal Rumble?" Cheyenne asked changing the subject as Sasha's mood lightened and Seth and the God Girls went to congratulate baby Michelle's parents and bury the hatchet. The sudden appearance of Montez Ford and Rhea Ripley immediately changed the good vibes as they came with an agenda from Hell courtesy of the Deadman.
"I am," Montez Ford said and he kicked Seth Rollins in the stomach, picked him up and set him up for the Tombstone Piledriver which he executed in front of the press and public who stood watching from the sidelines in shock.
"Seth!" Bianca cried out but she wasn't out of danger herself as Rhea Ripley slapped her across the face and hit her with the Rip Tide sending a flurry of crazy message posts all across social media about Montez and Rhea being together again.
"I know you didn't think was over!" Montez Ford yelled at Roman Reigns who stared at the Street Profit angrily shaking his head. "I'll see you at the Royal Rumble b****!"
Rhea laughed before the God Girls charged at her, "Oh and congratulations on the new baby Bianca, she looks just like her daddy, not a loser like her mommy. I guess I'll be playing that role soon," she said and she blew Perfection a kiss, as Montez left with his baby girl taking Rhea Ripley back to New York City and leaving Bianca Belair without a husband or a child.
"I guess you're the one I need to talk to," Roman said to Sasha knowing that the Undertaker had gotten to Montez Ford and Rhea Ripley.
"I'm through talking Roman," Sasha said, "now go help Seth up, I wanna go home right now,"
"But what about the meeting at the Sandbox?" Roman said.
"The only meeting that will be taking place is between me and my family in Fort Lauderdale, now are you going to help Seth or not?" Sasha said.
"Oh, I'm gonna help Seth alright, I'm gonna help him see you for what you truly are. For the first time in his life, Seth Rollins is going to know the woman he really married and when he does, please don't come running to me, again," Roman said and he went to help Seth as Sasha held her baby girl and Abiyah wondered whose home he would be living in this year. It was either the home of the man who was his actual father or the woman who didn't even know he'd snuck out to interfere in a Championship match in Boston. He loved being around the DX family and if he lived with his mother, there was a chance he wouldn't get to see Rebecca Rogan or Faith Star at all. If he lived with his father, he could see them all the time. The lil big dog knew his mother well but he loved her all the same and he was sure somewhere down deep inside, she loved him too but she had a really bad way of showing it to both him and her husband Seth Rollins, who hadn't moved since Montez Ford attacked him.
"Mom, did you think that maybe you should go and help him?" Abiyah said and Sasha gave her son an ice-cold smile.
"I think I'll give Roman full custody of you," she said and Abiyah nodded liking that his mother had made his choice easy for him. That didn't stop the tears from welling up in his eyes as Sasha cast him out like the bastard she always thought he was and soon he'd no longer be a Rollins kid. Abiyah would finally own his wrestling legacy and become an official member of the world-famous Bloodline.
"I hope you're a better mom to Havana than you were to me," Abi said and he went to play with the other DX kids while Sasha rocked Havana back and forth in her arms with a happy smile.
"I already am," Sasha said to herself and she called Montez Ford and told him she was back in the fold. "Let's change the world," she vowed and she kissed her daughter waiting for Seth to stand to his feet but Seth hadn't moved. Seth was having trouble regaining consciousness as was Bianca Belair. The Prayer Warrior and the Treasurer of Secrets were down and both Sasha Banks and Montez Ford couldn't have cared less, as it was just a taste of what evil was about to befall Seth and the God Girls this year and it would all start at the Royal Rumble.
