Hello my lovely readers! We are back with a new episode!
We got one question so let's dive into it!
Any thoughts Audrey would like the Mythical Pokemon, Shaymin from the 4th Generation?
Oh yeah, she would so love that. She sometimes dreamed of having a hedgehog as a pet and she does love Shaymin for being adorable
Love the question! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Now, let's continue our story...
Season 1, Episode 2; An unintentional love triangle
Audrey fluttered her eyelids open and sat up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes and sat up in her bed. She wondered if all that happened was all just a weird dream, after eating one too many pizza rolls. But as her vision became clear, she could see that it wasn't a dream at all.
It was the next day after the events of the Carnival and when they arrived at the cottage. Since the Devil was not hunting them down, they had time to take a breather and get some rest. Thankfully, while Josh and Audrey stayed in the cottage, Elder Kettle had a guest room upstairs, which was near the boys' bedroom.
The guest room was an average size room with a dresser, two twin beds, a closet, blue walls and brown flooring, a window with white curtains, a night stand between the beds, a desk with a lamp, a couch, and some nice pillows. While it wasn't their hotel room from their honeymoon, it was still cozy and homey.
She looked over at Josh, who was still asleep and sighed. He snored gently and had his hat on the nightstand, along with their wedding rings. She couldn't blame him. After a long day at work, and nearly escaping death, it really takes a lot out of ya. Seeing that he was still sleeping, Audrey quietly slipped off her bed, placed her shoes on and crept out of the room before closing the door behind her.
As she headed down the hallway to the stairwell, she looked at the many photos and metals on the wall. From the looks of things, Elder Kettle used to be in the army, and had won many awards for his bravery. She did smile at the cute photos of Cuphead and Mugman, especially when they were very little. Some photos showed them wearing matching outfits, playing together, a family photo, all that.
"Well, gotta say, these photos are pretty cute." Audrey said to herself. She then headed down stairs and made her way to the kitchen. She pulled out an iron boiler and poured in some hot water. Once that was warmed up, she carefully poured it into a teacup and put it in a tea bag. She then added some sugar and some milk in it, before giving it a good stir.
Once that was done, she took her tea and headed outside. The sun was still coming up, and she felt the cool air on her face. It was a beautiful morning and Audrey wondered if today was going to be a beautiful day.
She stepped towards the fence, placed her arms over, took a sip of her tea and sighed. The birds were chirping as they flew by, not to mention Audrey practically seeing music notes from them (cartoon logic of course), the sun was peeking over the hills and the morning mist was fading away.
When she was in school, she would often go out for a run, and seeing the sun rise would help boost her confidence in running. It was hard work for her constant training, practicing, and competing, but she enjoyed it nonetheless.
She was deep in thought, when suddenly she jumped as she felt someone place a blanket over her. She looked and took a sigh of relief.
"Oh, Josh. You startled me." She gasped, placing her hand on her chest. "I'm sorry, did I wake you?"
"Nope, all good. Sorry for scaring you." He sheepishly replied. "I saw you outside and thought you could use some company."
"You're sweet. Thanks." she smiled as she gave him a kiss. He then wrapped his arms around her and took a sigh.
"Sure it's pretty out this morning." He claimed.
"Agreed. Sooo what were your plans for today?" Audrey asked.
"Uh, nothing comes to mind." Josh claimed. "The boys are already up and playing with marbles and Elder Kettle is going to run some errands soon."
Audrey nodded and pondered for a second. "You know, since the boys will be occupied today, wanna maybe go explore the Isle? We're going to be living here and need a feel for a place, so we don't end up somewhere horrible."
"Sounds like a good idea." Josh agreed. "But first, some food."
Audrey chuckled and followed Josh inside for breakfast, and once they had eaten, they told the boys they'd be seeing Inkwell. Once that was taken care of, they departed, hoping to have a more smoother day.
Meanwhile, in the depths of the underworld, the place was hopping; imps were flying around, filling in papers, working through filing cabinets, chatting with one another, it was a seriously busy operation, more busier than bees in a beehive.
You would think that with a huge organization like that, the main leader would be helping out as well; making sure things were running smoothly and managing his employees.
Well, that wasn't the case.
While they were working, the Devil was in his throne room, sitting on his throne, contemplating the events that had occurred the other day. He was impressed that his carnival scam was working like a charm, but those cups and those humans ruined it for him, making the entire theme park burn to the ground. He was ticked about that, you can see as he gripped the arms of the chair very tightly and his breathing became short.
But thinking about those humans, there was one that stood out to him, and it was that human girl. He watched the way she handled that situation, using a magic sketchpad to create objects that come alive. Not only that, but she was very, very beautiful.
He smiled and sighed, relaxing a bit, as he thought more about that girl. He believed he heard her name was…Audrey.
Oh, it was a beautiful name for a beautiful girl like her. He's never seen anyone like her was very impressed by that, and for the King of the Underworld, he is not easily impressed.
As he began thinking more about her, he began to fantasize about her.
He imagined a lovely grassy hill, as he walked holding a picnic basket in one hand and linked arms with Audrey, who was wearing a lovely dress, with the other. Her smile was as warm as the sun and her laugh was light and elegant. That made him smile.
Once they reached the top, they sat down and had their lunch. She gave a small yawn and placed her head on his furry chest, as he gently wrapped his arm around her and stroked her cheek with his other hand. She smiled at him as she continued to snuggle in his fur and he stroked her cheek and moved his fingers slowly to her chin, and lifted it a bit.
He closed his eyes and leaned close to give her a kiss when…
"Hey, boss!"
The Devil jumped, startled by the voice and the thought bubble he had popped above him. He looked and saw that it was Henchman who had called his name, and ruined his fantasy.
Creepy thoughts, but a fantasy.
He pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers and groaned. So much for a lovely day dream.
"Yes, Henchman?" The Devil groaned. "What do you want?"
"D'uh, wanted to let you know the latest numbers for the system have been filed and are secured in the office." Henchman replied. "We won't have to deal with numbers like that for months."
"Great to hear." The Devil sarcastically replied. "Is that all?"
"D'uh I think so." Henchman replied. "Say, when I came into the throne room, you were muttering something. Were you thinking about something?"
"More like, someone, Henchman." The Devil corrected, as he stood up, grabbed his pitchfork and walked from his throne. "I'm off to do a few things, so don't bother me."
"D'uh, ok, boss." Henchman nodded.
Without saying another word, the Devil teleported from the area.
Meanwhile, the young couple passed through the woods, following the dirt path, until they climbed a small hill and looked over the horizon, gazing at the city of Inkwell. There were buildings of various sizes, there was a great grassy plane along with the tops of trees, which made Audrey think and hoped there was a park nearby, and even though they were a bit off from the city, they could hear the sounds of cars driving, and honking.
"Wow, what a city." Josh smiled. "I know it's not New York City huge, but it sure is something."
"Agreed. I wonder what kind of coffee shops they have." Audrey wondered as they proceeded to walk to the city. "I'll have to see if I can find a new fave drink."
"Oh, boy. Here we go." Josh playfully replied.
"What?" Audrey asked.
"You do this every time you go to a city." He replied, holding her hand. "You wanna know if there's a coffee shop, spend hours there trying different beverages, and have to keep going there to find the one drink you like."
"Ok, I did that at Starbucks, one time!" Audrey protested. "Besides, may I remind you that whenever you go to a city or new place, you wanna know if they have the best game shop."
"Hey, nothing beats Nintendo World and you know it." Josh mentioned. "Besides, I know Steve and I nearly blew off our cash that one time, but there was so much merch!"
"You know, sometimes I wonder how Steve, who's a devoted Christian, is willing to blow off tons of money, for plushies and dollies." Audrey smiled.
"Hey, they are called action figures, and you know it." Josh reminded her.
Audrey laughed and the two continued their walk to the city.
Soon, they found themselves walking on the busy sidewalk. People of all objects, animals and people walked about, rushing with very supplies, some chatting with each other while holding many shopping bags, and others had little kids.
"Wow, the place sure is bustling." Josh smiled, adjusting his hat. "They seem more friendly than some people in NYC."
"Yeah, it's still crowded but it's all good." Audrey smiled, as she scooted past some people carrying large crates.
As they walked, they looked up at the buildings, but there was one that caught their attention. It was a large white building, which expanded out a bit, had long , gold outlines, a small stairwell, and light lamps on the sides of the large gold double doors. There was a small grassy area with several trees near the building, along with some small flowers and buds in the ground.
"What kind of building do you think this is?" Josh asked, as the couple approached it.
"Dunno. Must be a wonderful place to work in." Audrey replied.
Then they saw a small sign near the foot of the stairwell that read
"Auditions coming soon! More details to come!"
"Well, that answers that question." Audrey mentioned. "This must be Sally's theater."
"Sally? You mean Sally Stageplay?" Josh asked. "I heard the boys talk about her when we were in the book. You think we'd be able to see her?"
"Wouldn't hurt to take a look."
The two of them made their way up the steps and entered the building. Once inside, they were greeted by an average size room with rows of wooden chairs that were facing a large stage, with a red curtain that had the words "ASBESTOS Safety curtain" imprinted in gold.
The room had white walls with a blue trim, decorated with red banners, a bulletin board, pictures, old posters, and theater lights. There were some crumpled up papers and loose playbills scattered on the ground, and a piano that was near the foot of the stage.
Josh whistled. "Whoo boy this place is really something."
"Yeah. It's not as grand and large as the one from the story book, but it's pretty cool." Audrey stated. "I know not everything from the book needs to be exactly in the show, but I'll give the people points for the amazing artistic style."
Just then, they heard someone come through a door and Sally Stageplay walked in. While she looked similar to her storybook character, there were some differences that Audryey noticed;
She still had the same fluffy and curly blonde hair, but now, she wore makeup, including light red lipstick and pale rose eyeshadow
She wore a white short-sleeved coat with a blue button under her chest over a light blue top, a pair of white gloves that have three black stripes in the middle, high-waisted wide sea-blue pants with a black band, and a pair of black Mary Jane shoes with small heels.
When she turned from the door, she spotted the two and smiled.
"Ah! Welcome to the theater!" Sally proclaimed in a loud confident voice. "This is the place where stories come to life and the heart strings are pulled in all people. I'm Sally Stageplay. Who are you two?"
"I'm Josh, and this is my wife, Audrey." Josh introduced, as Audrey gave a smile and wave.
"Hi, Ms. Stage Play. We hope we weren't interrupting anything." Audrey mentioned. "We're new around here and wanted to see the inside of this place."
"Ah, I see. And no you're not disturbing anything." Sally claimed. "I was finishing up some editing on a new production I will be making for the fall. It's a story that takes place in outer space."
"Wow, really? That's so cool!" Josh exclaimed. "Man, I love stories in the deep reaches of space."
"Then you should see it in the fall!" Sally smiled. "It's still a work in progress, but imagination never stops."
"Agreed. Anway, uh, we just wanted to see the place and we'll be heading out." Audrey smiled.
They started to head out, but Sally called out and rushed to them.
"Wait, wait! You said you two were new in town?"
"Er, yeah. Why?" Josh asked.
"Well, I hate for you two to get lost. Inkwell City is a rather large place." Sally explained. "I know the city very well. I could give both a tour."
"Sally, we do appreciate that, but we don't want to pull you away from work…" Audrey started, but Sally shook her head.
"I'm finished for the day and would be more than happy to show you around."
Unknown to the three of them, the Devil had transformed into his spider form and was slowly and quietly lowering himself from a thread, as he overheard the entire conversation. His multiple, if I should mention, eyes were only on Audrey. He loved hearing the sound of her sweet, sweet voice.
It was very enchanting and she looked as lovely as she was yesterday.
Finally, Audrey spoke. "Well, if you're ok with giving us a tour, I think that's ok."
"Splendid! Come, let's tour the city of inkwell!" She linked arms with Audrey and the three walked out of the theater.
Once they were gone, The Devil lowered himself to the ground, and shifted to his original form.
"So, looks like they're out on the town, eh? Might as well tag along as well."
"And over there is the local library, filled with many novels and stories. Down that street is the glasses store, with glasses repairs and new frames of all types."
The three humans were walking down the streets of the city. It was good for Sally to be their tour guide as they got the way of the bustling area and got info on the places, especially great restaurants to try out.
"Man, this city is so cool!" Josh smiled. "So much to do."
"Indeed. The city is a great place for work and for entertainment of all types." Sally smiled. "Over there, Inkwell has a live gameshow and people, from what I have heard, go crazy."
"Really? What's the name of the show?" Audrey asked.
"Erm, the name is slipping by me, but people think it's a great show." Sally shrugged. "I would love to attend, but with theater work, it gets in the way."
"Makes sense. We have a huge theater where we're from, and want to see all the shows, but we would usually have to cancel because of work." Josh mentioned. "Plus, it gets a bit expensive to go all the time."
"But the last show we went to, oh man, it was amazing." Audrey sighed, as she held Josh's hand. "We went to see The Phantom Of the Opera."
"Oh, that sounds interesting. What's it about?" Sally asked.
"It's about this mysterious spirit that roams the theater and causes 'accidents' and he falls in love with this one girl, but she likes someone else. It's sorta like a love triangle with a dark romance story."
"Ohhh, sounds interesting! However, I try to focus more on adventures and thrills, not so much dark romances." Sally mentioned.
Audrey nodded and the three moved on.
"Well, I should warn you two; while this place is wonderful to live in, there are some things that, often lurk in the shadows." Sally brought up.
"Such as?" Josh asked.
"Well, in a city like this, you never know who or what could be wandering about." Sally claimed. "It's best to keep your eyes, ears and mind open."
However, unknown to them, danger was lurking about, as a pair of yellow eyes appeared from an alleyway, and stared at Audrey.
Turns out danger did lurk all around them.
After a bit, they hit every spot in the city, not to mention Audrey getting excited to find several coffee shops to try out, and the couple decided to head back to the cottage. They thanked and bidded farewell to Sally, who welcomed them to her theater any time, and left the busy city.
"Wow! Got a taste of a city that never…leaks." Josh giggled.
"Leaks?" Audrey repeated, arching an eyebrow.
"Well, New York is the city that never sleeps, New Donk City is the city that never leaps, so I figured leaks, like the ink never leaks from the page." He explained.
"Ahhh I see." Audrey nodded. "Though if NYC is The Big Apple and New Donk is the big banana. Soooo, what would Inkwell be?"
"Hmmm. I guess the big blotter? Not really seeing a fruit to go with it." Josh mentioned.
"Make sense. I mean, Chicago is called The Windy City. I guess it's not a huge deal if they have different names." Audrey claimed.
Just then, Josh stopped, looked down and sighed. "Oh great. My shoe's untied." He then bent down on one knee and began to retie it.
Audrey then giggled. "You know, this reminds me of when Steve was gonna propose to Sasha. He was with her in the park, they got ice cream and were walking along. And then he got down on one knee. He was being really sweet about the whole thing, Sash was getting all excited, and then he said 'Would you make me the happiest man…if you let me tie my shoe?'"
"Oh yeah, I remember that. She was so ticked, she shoved her ice cream cone in his hair and stormed off." Josh sighed, still looking down. "She didn't speak to him for weeks, until he popped the question the right way."
Audrey smiled and nodded. But before she could say anything else, just then, a hand reached out, clamped over her mouth and before she could scream, she vanished.
Josh finished tying his shoe, and stood up claiming "Well, that takes care of-Adurey? Audrey? Where are you?" He looked around but didn't see her. She didn't just leave like that.
Something was up.
He looked down and saw her bag that had her sketchbook and pen. He saw the notepad glow. He flipped it open to the next blank page and once more it began to write;
Danger lurks in the shadows,
Often in plain sight
Notice how one proceeds to battle
You'll need it for a fight
"Something tells me I'm in for a heck of a tussle, since I have a pretty good idea on what happened." Josh muttered.
Grabbing her bag and putting the sling over his shoulder, he rushes into the forest to try to find Audrey.
Meanwhile, Audrey was teleported to a strange area and didn't have time to react when she felt herself being pushed through some vines. She fell on her stomach and groaned as she sat up.
"Uuuggghhh…ok, not cool." She grunted. When she looked up she saw where she was and was shocked.
It was a lovely grassy area with little flower buds scattered all over, a small riverbank with a flowing and gentle waterfall, the sound of birds chirping and the wind gracefully sweeping across the leaves.
While she was amazed by this, she was a bit confused and very concerned. She was alone, for one thing, and Josh was not around. Not only that, but her sketchbook was gone.
Great.
She stood up, dusted herself and scanned the area.
"Josh?" Josh? Hello?" She called out, cupping her hands by her mouth. "Anyone? Hello?"
"No need to shout. You're not alone." a voice responded.
She turned to see who it was and jumped. It was the Devil, leaning against a great oak tree, with a smirk on his face.
She scrambled back, distancing herself from him. She didn't care if this one was different from the book, he was still one to make, cause and is the definition of trouble. She had one idea why he was here, alone, with her, but she didn't want to blurt anything out until she heard it from him.
"It-it's you, from the carnival." She trembled. "What are you doing here?"
"Don't worry. I'm not here to hurt you." the Devil cooly replied. "I happen to be in the area and happen to see you."
"Erm, doing what, if you don't mind me asking?" Audrey responded. "You seemed pretty persistent wanting those souls from those innocent people."
"It was something I came up with." He smiled, standing up and slowly walking towards Audrey. "I didn't want to do a complicated plan. I figured everyone loves a carnival and would have fun…for a price."
Audrey remained silent. She had to admit, a carnival to lure people into their doom, it was pretty crafty. But despite that, it was horrible of him to do, especially since he nearly took the soul of a ten year old child.
The Devil, who was now a few feet in front of her, began to examine her, walking around her and scanning her from top to bottom. This made her feel uncomfortable, especially since she didn't want him anywhere near.
He inspected each part of her; her hair, hand, fingers, he even cupped her jawline and examined her face, before looking at her eyes.
Audrey was tense when he did that and wondered how long this was gonna take.
"He's looking at me like I'm a statute in a museum." She thought. "Wish he would stop and leave me be!"
After a few seconds, he released her chin and smirked at her.
"Well, I can say for one thing, you are not from Inkwell." He spoke.
"Isn't it obvious? I practically stand out." Audrey replied.
"That you do, but that is not a problem for me." The devil replied. "You see, humans in Inkwell are very rare to see. Sure, you were with another, but you don't see a huge crowd with them. And you, I have to say, are the rarest sight of all."
The way he said that made Audrey feel uneasy. He sounded confident, with a hint of seduction.
Ok, getting creepy vibes around here…
"Not only that, but after some thought, I came to the conclusion; you're perfect." He sneered.
Audrey's eyes grew wide with fear as she trembled. "P-perfect for what?"
The Devil then approached her, placed his claws on her shoulders, leaned close to her ear and whispered in a very seductive tone.
"Perfect to be my queen."
Ok, total creepy vibes here!
Audrey quickly stepped back and replied "Erm, I-I'm already married."
The Devil gave a chuckle. "Oh right you are, my darling…"
His voice trailed off as he gazed at her hand. On her finger was a golden ring with three small white gemstones in a row. She would have thought showing her ring would make him realize "Oh she's not available, that's fine."
However, that wasn't the case.
Audrey could see in his eyes that he wanted her so, as politely as she could, she claimed "But uh, thanks so much for the thought. Uh, I'm sure any girl, who is not married, would be thrilled to be your wife. However, I am happily married and need to get back to my husband. So, I'm gonna go…"
Audrey then slowly started to walk away, hoping he would back off and leave her alone. That sadly did not happen.
He used his magic and controlled the branches and they reached down as an attempt to grab her. Not thinking twice, she bolted from them and raced through the thicket, shoving and pushing branches, leaves, and vines out of her way. She was not going to stay there and let some creep get her.
The one thing though was she didn't have her sketchbook and pen with her. She was completely defenseless! The best thing was to get away as far as possible and judging from his face, he was not gonna let her get away.
It was hard to tell which branches were trying to get her or not, but she just kept running. She fell a few times but she got up quickly until she came to a clearing from the woods. She stopped, panted and gasped for air.
Finally, she was away from him.
Or so she thought.
Just then, something slithered around her and trapped her. Turns out, as she must have forgotten, the Devil shape-shifted into his serpent-dragon form and wrapped his body around her, imprisoning her in his coils.
"Hey! Let go!" she shouted, squirming in his grip, as she felt him bring her to his face.
"Not until you agree to be my wife and queen." He cooed, grinning at her.
She became tense as she felt the coils become tight around her body. It wasn't to the point of suffocation, but she still couldn't wiggle her arms free. She flinched as he leaned close and flicked his tongue at her neck, making her very intimidated.
"What'ssss the matter, my sssweet?" He hissed at her seductively. "There'ssss no need to be ssscared."
"There are tons of reasons to be terrified!" Audrey shouted, her voice shaking. "Let go of me! Right now!"
"I couldn't do that. You're too lovely to let go." He crooned.
He then leaned close to her face and nuzzled his face on her, which she grunted and tried to move her head. She hated that and wished he would stop.
Thankfully, Josh heard the commotion and rushed over. Imagine his surprise when he saw a forty-foot snake holding his wife hostage. He hid behind a large oak tree and quickly got the sketchbook and pen ready.
"Ok, freaky snake holding my wife hostage." he muttered, as he flipped the page open. "Had to deal with one freak, now I have another."
He remembered Audrey telling him about the sketchbook the other night, warning him to be careful on the drawing. While the ink and paper were unlimited, he had to be careful on how he drew things. He could draw a truck, but it could turn out to be a small toy truck.
Thinking hard, he quickly drew an anvil and an image of the Devil's serpent from underneath it, with an arrow pointing down on him.
Then, the page began to glow and before the Devil could do or say anything else,
*SMASH!*
An anvil landed on his head, causing him to fall to the ground and release Audrey. She was a bit confused about how that happened, but when she saw Josh rush over with her sketchbook, she knew what happened.
"You ok?!" Josh asked as he helped her up and hugged her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She replied. "The guy's a freak. He wants me to marry him, which was something I wanted to avoid."
"Ah great. Not what I wanted to hear." Josh groaned. "Come on, we'd better go before lord duffus wakes up and tries to do anything else."
Audrey nodded and holding Josh's hand, the two of them ran into the forest. The anvil magically vanished and the Devil groaned, having a lump on his head and dizzy eyes. When he got his focus back, he saw that Audrey was gone.
He growled and changed to his original form, remembering the young man that was with her earlier.
"Sounds to me like I have competition." He muttered. "But one thing is certain, I will get her, one way or another."
With that, he tapped his pitchfork and teleported back to the Underworld.
After a bit, the two ended up back at the cottage, out of breath.
"Whew. That, was a run." He gasped. "Good thing you nagged me to go on those morning runs with you."
"Never imagined this happening, but it's good to be prepared." Audrey smiled, panting. "Come on, let's head inside and get something to eat." He nodded and the two headed inside. When they saw the living room, they were in shock.
The place was an absolute mess! Things were smashed, the cushions were torn, glass scattered, dirt from plant pots was thrown all over the room, the chandelier destroyed and the radio was on static, with its form in a wreck.
They were in shock.
"Wha-what happened?!" Audrey gasped, looking around in complete horror.
"We literally left for a few hours and the place looks like a warzone!" Josh mentioned.
Just then, they heard the Cup brothers and Elder Kettle come into the room, and boy was Josh right, it was a war zone because they looked like they were ready for war.
Ish.
Cuphead was wearing a flower pot on his head, with the leaves on his side looking like sideburns, holding a baseball bat in his hand. Mugman wore a metal garbage can on his head, while holding a black plunger, and Elder Kettle had a bandage where his mastache was, or used to be they found out later, with two pillows tied around his waist with rope, holding an ax.
"Hi guys!" The Cups smiled. "How was your walk?"
"F-fine, but, what happened?" Audrey asked. "Oh, please don't tell me the three of you decided to reenact a war in here!"
"Erm, no, not really." Kettle replied. "We had an issue with…well, a baby."
The humans looked shocked at them. This place was a mess, because of...a baby? Surely Elder Kettle knew how to take care of them, since he raised Cuphead and Mugman. Taking care of one child could not have been that difficult.
But, seeing the exhausted looks on their faces, Audrey decided to just believe them, considering they had a crazy run-in with the Devil. Taking out her sketchpad, she drew the living room and once the page glowed, everything was brand new. She even drew back on Kettle's mustache as well.
She then took a sigh. "Well, that certainly was eventful. How about we make some lunch? I think we all had a crazy day and need to chill for a bit."
"Sounds good." Everyone agreed. They then headed to the kitchen to make some food, but something was still stuck in the back of Audrey's mind. The Devil was now head over heels for her and wanted her to marry him.
"Great. An unwanted suitor. Not what I was hoping for, but I'm not gonna let some overgrown throw rug get the best of me." Audrey thought. "We gotta find a way back home as soon as possible, otherwise he will try every method to get me."
And Audrey didn't know half of it.
Meanwhile, in the Underworld, the Devil had once returned to his throne and was in deep thought about Audrey. She certainly was something, especially seeing up close, but her giving that lame excuse that she was married, didn't phase him one bit.
He knew he could win her over, and soon, she would be his wife and queen. While he knew she was human and a mortal, he still admired and wanted her to be with him.
He took a sigh and started to sing.
*New song; "Toxic Love" from Ferngully: The Last Rainforest (slightly edited)*
Devil: Ohhh Love me one time… OH! Love me twice! Oh oh OHHHHH! That's rather nice…
*He lounged back on one of the arms of his throne, sighing dreamily every time he thought of her.
Devil; My…sweet Audrey. Sweet cherry bloom…I will be her precious groom…
*He took a deep breath as he remembered the scent of her perfume he inhaled earlier, and hugged himself as if Audrey was lying on top of him, snuggling in his fur.
Devil: I'll…hold her close to me…perfect like a glove…Ooh, you'll love my (ah-ah-ah) toxic love
*He began to create fire from his hands, forming them into hearts, while creating a silhouette of Audrey. (Ok, stalker much?)
Devil; I see the world and all the creatures in it…
Imps: All the creatures in it!
*He hops off his throne, as his imps watch him from afar, and see him summoned his looking glass, gazing at the Isle of Inkwell and the inhabitants that lived there, as they walked, chatted, laughed and spent time together.
Devil: We'll suck 'em dry and spit 'em out like spinach.
*He made a gesture and fire clouded the view of Inkwell from his mirror before reverting back to its normal state.*
Devil; 'Cause my bride will always lend a hand. With the destruction of this worthless, pitiful, land.
*He then began to daydream, as a bubble formed above his head. He imagined him and Audrey causing terror over the Isle while people ran and screamed in fear. The two of them laughed wickedly and began taking the souls of the inhabitants.
Devil; And what a beautiful queen I'll have by my side! To make a path OF DOOM! With my sweet lips to guide her…
*He thought of Audrey in a beautiful wedding gown, walking down the aisle, as a ceremony was held in the throne room of the underworld. After placing a crown on her head, and being pronounced 'man and wife', he took her in his arms and kissed her…dead on the lips. (for those viewing this at a young age, I am sorry you had to read that)
Devil: Fires of Hell…cries of pain…pouring down like fine champagne…
*He continued to daydream as hails of fire and sulfur fell from the sky and caused severe damage all over Inkwell. He could hear the terrified screams of the public, panicking and rioting in the streets as they realized the world was about to end.*
Devil: My…sweet Audrey Mmm…sweet cherry bloom. Oh, you'll love my…(ah ah ah)...toxic love.
*End of song*
The Devil concluded and began to cackle, his voice echoing through the caves.
"Soon, she will be my wife and queen, and together we shall rule over Inkwell together!"
And so, the hunt for his bride had begun.
