Hello my lovely readers! We are back with a new chapter!
Before we start, let's open some fan-mail and answer some questions
Aside from spiders (the big ones) are there any certain other bugs or animals Audrey is not a fan of?
She's not a fan of moths, mosquitos, wasps, skunks, cockroaches, leeches, sharks, and coyotes
What gave you the idea for the Devil to come onto her?
I thought it would be interesting to see how Audrey handled him in this situation and now with her being married, it really puts Josh in a position to show The Devil that while he may not have powers and riches, he loves Audrey for who she is and will not back down from creeps like him who hit on her, especially since he almost lost her when she agreed to marry the Devil from the story book to save his life.
Does Audrey have any favourite musicals when visiting the theatre or Broadway shows?
Oh, she has many favorites; Wicked, Phantom of the Opera (she saw it three times), Mary Poppins, In the Heights, Hamilton, Aladdin, Anastasia, Hello Dolly, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miz, Newsies, Mamma Mia and Chicago.
What was the weirdest dream Audrey had ever experienced?
Aside from her nightmares, there was an instance where she dreamt she was in a different country (a middle eastern one) and for some reason, Steve and Sasha were there and could speak the language of the country and for some reason they were yelling at Audrey and she had no idea why. Then Dr. Madison was there and was going on about a paper Audrey had to write but then she woke up.
Love the questions! Feel free to keep asking!
Now, let's continue our story...
Season 1 episode 3; Hopping along just fine
It was late in the day and pretty peaceful that day, since they haven't run into the Devil since that last time he showed up and haven't had any issues. Audrey was sitting by the window, reading a novel, while the boys were doing other activities.
She always enjoyed reading. It was like an escape from reality and entering a world of fantasy and wonder; going on adventures in different places, meeting people, fighting bad guys, and discovering a whole new world outside of their own. She had a better time understanding the depth of the story, especially after her first adventure in Inkwell.
She had that to thank for.
She finished the chapter when she heard the door open and Josh stepped in.
"Hey, how's the book?" He asked.
"Going well. Feels weird doing so much reading like this." Audrey replied, placing a bookmark in and placed the book on the nightstand. "Normally, I'd be scrolling through my phone on nights like this, but since I don't have it, I have to resort to a new form of entertainment."
"Not to mention we often hear the boys listen to Dirk Dangerous on the radio." Josh added. "I always wanted to know what listening to shows like that sounded like, and I guess I did."
"Good to hear." Audie smiled. Then she asked "Say, are they going to make dinner soon? Starting to get hungry."
"I'm not sure, but I did have an idea for a dinner date, if you want." Josh announced. "I was reading the paper and someone did a review on this place called the Fly Trap."
Audrey's ears perked up. "Wait, the Fly Trap? Wow, I haven't been there in a while. From the book, I mean."
"Isn't it a dinner and show kinda place?" Josh pondered. "I think I saw that passing by in the woods when I was looking for you and the guys."
"Well, since it's here, why don't we try it out?" Audrey suggested. "I have nothing going on and I'm sure the boys and Elder Kettle will find something to do."
"Sweet! We should probably head there soon." Josh claimed. "The article says it can get full fast and we need cash to get in."
"Get in to pay for more dinner? Unbelievable." Audrey groaned, standing up and brushing her hair.
"Not really. It's more of a pay to get in and we won't get charged for getting food." Josh explained. "Plus, it could be a fun date night."
"That does sound nice." Audie smiled. "I feel bad for asking Elder Kettle for money. I don't want to take advantage of him, since he's been super nice."
"No worries. Remember that bike shop I got hired at?" Josh asked. Audie nodded before he proceeded. "Well, I got a raise for fixing a few bikes and I got some money. So we can pay for tonight."
"Awesome! I'll have to see if there are jobs here." Audie mentioned. "Might help out around here."
"Sounds good." Josh smiled.
After getting ready, the two headed down stairs…only to be in the crossfire of a huge argument between the Cup boys.
The two of them were sitting across from each other, backs turned and arms across their chest, looking pretty mad at each other. Elder Kettle was sitting in the middle seat, reading the paper, and the fridge was open with two containers of ice cream opened and empty, with the remaining spilled out all over the floor, and dripping from the fridge shelves.
"So, let me get this straight; you expect me to believe that you "sleep-ate" an entire container of ice cream, without waking up?!" Cuphead asked, glaring at his brother.
"Oh no. This doesn't look good." Josh muttered.
"Well, you expect me to believe you did." Mugman retorted, his eyes narrowing.
"And just who 'sleep-eats' with a spoon?" Cuphead asked, now up in his brother's face, holding a spoon in his hand.
"People with manners." Mugman snapped, shoving Cuphead aside with his hand.
"You're nothing but a common thief!" Cuphead argued, shoving Mugman from his seat. He was a bit dizzy but managed to collect himself and glare at his brother.
"You're the thief!" He shouted, shoving Cuppy back.
"No, you are!" Cuphead argued.
The two of them began to fight, shoving each other back and forth with no end in sight.
Josh took a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Oh boy, they're fighting again."
"I know they're kids, but they can always go out for more." Audie mentioned. "Those two might as well go to war over this. You know wars have started over other issues."
"Oh yeah. Big time." Josh nodded.
The two cups continued to fight until Elder Kettle had enough. He crunched the paper, stood up and grabbed both boys by their handles shouting
"Enough!"
He placed them down feet first in front of him and calmly replied to them
"You boys are family. No use getting bent out of shape about little stuff." As he spoke, the boys shot glares at each other. He could tell they were mad, but he needed to find common ground.
"Just let it be water under the bridge. Now, here's five bucks."
He took out a five dollar bill from his pocket (again cartoon logic) and handed it to Mugman. But for Cuphead, he placed a little dustball of pocket lint.
"And some pocket lint. Go do something fun together. You two are brothers." Elder Kettle reminded them.
You would think that helped die the flames down, right? Well, not really.
"Why does he always get the five bucks?!" Cuphead argued.
"And why does he always get the pocket lint?!" Mugman added, poking Cuphead's chest with his thumb.
Audrey gave herself a face palm. No child would wonder why his brother or sister got the pocket lint, but Mugman proved her wrong.
"No, you do!" Cuphead shouted, shoving his brother once more. The two of them started again, and both humans knew it was time to go.
"Aaaand that's our cue to leave." Josh claimed, grabbing Audie's hand and headed out the door. As the boys continued to argue, Kettle was getting annoyed, seeing how his idea didn't work out.
So, he did the one thing every responsible adult should do; get them out asap.
"Out!" He shouted, with the sound of a train engine going off. That startled the boys enough to run out of the cottage, closing the door behind them.
Meanwhile, Audrey and Josh were far off from the cottage and away from all that drama. They continued down the dirt path as they chatted with one another.
"Sheesh, those two get into fights over the dumbest of things." Audrey mentioned. "I know it's rude to eat someone else's ice cream, but going into a huge fight is just ridiculous."
"Yeah, I get that. But in all fairness, we have gotten into fights over silly things." Josh calmly claimed. "And I have gotten into arguments with my folks, and siblings, like you have."
"Ok, fair, but they shouldn't argue." Audie sighed. "They're brothers and should be looking out for each other. They're the only blood related family they have."
"What about Elder Kettle?" Josh asked. "Isn't he family?"
"Well, yes, but, from what I was told, the boys were found on his doorstep when they were infants." Audrey explained. "They don't know their real parents and he was going to give them a note he found when they were older."
"Wow, that must be hard for them." Josh muttered.
"Well, not really. It's not tragic, but they hope to get some answers soon." Audie shrugged.
They then heard the sound of a foghorn going off. It sounded close by. They turned a corner and saw a large white steamboat with a light blue outline, decorated with strings of lights, two life rings dangled from the side, and a large lit up sign that spelled out "The Fly Trap".
The ship itself was bigger compared to the one in the story book and not only that, but she saw Ribby and Croaks standing outside near a big sign, greeting guests as they walked inside.
They looked the same as they did in the story, but their attire was different. Instead of the two wearing leggings, they both wore suits, with a black tie, light blue and undershirts, and a pair of sandals.
Ribby was the shorter one, with a greener skin tone and dark green suit, light green undershirt, with an orange flower, while Croaks was the taller one, wearing a dark blue suit, light blue undershirt, with a yellow flower and has brown-ish skin tone.
"Wow, gotta say, this is so cool!" Josh beamed. "Bet the inside is amazing too!"
"Agreed! I'm getting hungry." Audrey smiled.
The two headed towards the boat and were greeted by the frog brothers.
"Well, look who we got here!" Ribby smiled. "Looks like we got two new faces here. Youse two here for fine dining?"
"You bet we are." Josh smiled. "I'm Josh and this is my wife, Audrey."
"Hi, nice to see you two." Audrey replied. It was hard for her not to say "Oh I know you two" since this was a different version of Cuphead. Sure the characters were the same, but like her encounter with Sally, she was different from the story.
"Well, we're glad youse two are here. We have the best dining experience ever!" Ribby proceeded. "Great music, amazing food and lovely company!"
"Sounds great." Josh replied. "How much for entry?"
"Cover is 20 bucks." Croaks replied.
"Huh, alright let's see what I got" Josh muttered, as he reached into his pocket and pulled out some dollar bills. Once he counted that, he handed the frog brothers two 10 dollar bills. "Here ya go."
"Thank Youse very much." Ribby replied. "Enjoy the evening. We'll be casting off in a few minutes."
The two humans thanked the frogs and proceeded inside.
Just at that very moment, Cuphead and Mugman, who had taken a different path, walked along, still arguing with each other, but this time, it was on another debate.
"I say we just take the money and buy some more ice cream." Cuphead argued.
Mugman rolled his eyes. "Look, if we invest it, we could have as much ice cream as we want when we're older."
"But I want ice cream now!" Cuphead whined.
"You don't have to be such a-" but before he could finish, the two of them heard a loud foghorn in the distance.
By the way, Mugman was about to say 'pain in the neck'.
They proceeded forward and saw the steamboat with the frog brothers welcoming the other guests.
"Head right up, folks. We cast off in a few minutes. Get on the boat." Ribby smiled.
When the two saw the Cup brothers approach, they were surprised to see them.
"Hey, hey! Looks like we got a couple of VIPs on our hands." Ribby claimed to his brother, nudging him lightly.
Politely leaning towards Cuphead, he asked "Youse two want the premium treatment, don't yas? Huh? Huh? Huh?" While he asked that, he punched Cuphead's arm three times, as a means to playfully do that to a friend or something.
For the record, I think that looks painful.
Cuphead chuckled sheepishly, rubbing his arm when he noticed the boxing gloves on their hands. "What's with those gloves?"
"Ho-oh, we used to be pro boxers." Ribby replied, as he and his brother imitated fighting.
"Champions!" Croaks exclaimed.
"But, our dear old ma, she hated when we pounded each other." Ribby claimed, as the two of them looked sad, placing their left hands on their hearts.
Suddenly becoming cheery again, Ribby claimed "So we opened this club! We're respectable types now."
"Anybody says different, I'll pound 'em!" Croaks remarked, glaring at the cup boys with a raised fist, ready to strike.
Thankfully, Ribby stopped him from doing anything stupid, like beating up two kids. I mean, if someone did that, I'd be furious!
"Ha-ha! Croaks is just kidding! Check this out!" He beamed as he stepped near the sign that was next to him. "Want an evening you'll never forget? We got first-class entertainments, ballroom dancing, and fine dining."
As the boys read over the list with bored expressions on their faces (can't really blame them), something caught Cuphead's eye.
Literally taking off his brother's head and moved it close to the sign, he claimed
"Mugsy, look! 'Free ice cream with entry.'" Sure enough, in the small print it read that. Now, that was something to look forward to. Placing Mugman's head back on, the two of them gleefully exclaimed
"Ice cream!"
They attempted to run inside, as one should, but couldn't because of Croaks holding them back by their plants.
Like, dude, chill. No need for that.
"Not so fast!" Croaks intervened. He then released the boys, who slid with a THUD, getting dirt all over them, in front of Ribby.
"Cover charge is 20 bucks." He beamed, holding out his hand.
"We don't have that much." Cuphead sadly claimed.
"Hmm... Well, how much you got?" Ribby asked.
The boys stood up, dusted themselves and gave what Elder Kettle gave them before leaving the cottage.
"Five bucks, and some pocket lint." Cuphead replied. Ribby snatched the five bucks from his hand and stretched it a few times, grinning.
"You know what $5 gets you?" He asked in a sly tone.
"Ice cream?" The boys asked hopefully, rubbing their hands together and feeling drools fall from their mouths.
Just then, both frogs grabbed their shorts and replied
"A kick in the pants!" they then proceeded to kick them ever so rudely into the water with a SPLASH!
Jerks!
Both found that funny and started laughing hysterically.
"Did you see how far I kicked that little punk?" Ribby chortled, nudging his brother.
"You saying you better than me?!" Croaks growled.
Ok, where did that come from? I mean one would be all "Oh yeah, that was awesome" or something.
"So what if I am?!" Ribby snapped.
Just then they began pounding each other like they're in a boxing match. Ok, not the reaction I was going for but, eh, it's fine. I'm just reading this.
Just then they stopped as they saw two more people come this way. They were both ladybugs, one wearing a fancy dress, the other a fancy dress suit. It was none other than the Mayor of Inkwell and his wife.
They quickly straighten themselves out as Ribby announced
"Oh! Hello, Mr. Mayor., Mrs. Mr. Mayor. We're respectable types."
"Say any different and I'll pound you!" Croaks shouted, startling the mayor's wife. Not what you wanna say, especially in front of people like them,
Ribby quickly stepped in and quickly replied. "This guy! Always with the jokes! Please, step right inside."
He gestured for the two to enter and once they got on board, they began to depart from the shore.
Meanwhile, unaware of what happened, Audrey and Josh were escorted to their table by a firefly. The inside of the boat was huge; it was decorated with brown flooring and small stretched out rugs, round tables with white covers and topped with candles, along with comfy seats.
There were numerous light blue pillars painted with plants, the walls were painted the same blue lined with small paintings, and various archways aligned with lights. There was also a long table with ice cream sundaes and a chocolate fountain.
There was a small stage with brown flooring, purple curtains and gold tassels, the front of the stage was in an arch position, with lights aligned around it and a small band consisting of a piano, cello, violin and drums was near the stage.
Once they were seated, they were handed menus by the hostess. "Your waiter will be here shortly." She smiled before flying off.
"Wow, this place sure is hopping with all the guests and service." Josh mentioned, as he skimmed over the menu. "Though, I hope you don't mind me asking, but, don't you think it seems a bit, odd, that there are people that are…flies and bugs? Especially with frogs running this boat?"
"Yeah, I was a bit surprised by that at first, but honestly, there's nothing to be worried about." Audrey mentioned. "I think it's part of the style and atmosphere. But I have to say, it is kinda interesting to see them as the owners of a dinner and show boat."
"And the food here looks amazing." Josh mentioned, as a waiter gave them water glasses. "Hard to choose what I'll have."
Audrey smiled and resumed looking over the menu.
As people chatted, waiters passed by, and music filled the air, Ribby and Croaks began to make their rounds, happily greeting folks and guests.
"Oh, hey! How youse doing, huh?" "Looking good." "Watch out for this guy. Here comes trouble."
As they proceeded on with the evening, they were unaware that Cuphead and Mugman, who climbed aboard after being tossed off, were sneaking about in the vents above the crowd, still on each other's nerves of course.
"You sure this is right?" Mugman whispered.
"Shh, quiet! Someone might hear!" Cuphead sharply whispered. As they passed an airway, they suddenly heard Ribby shout in a serious tone
"Hey! How'd you bozos get in?!"
They froze. They wondered how they were to get caught so quickly, especially since they had just slipped on board.
Thankfully, they realized they weren't talking to them but more joking with the guests.
"Just kidding…" Ribby chuckled.
"Phew!" Both boys took a sigh of relief. They looked down and saw that the frog brothers were now on stage, with a spotlight on them, speaking into a microphone.
"You fine folks are paying customers. You ain't bozos." Ribby replied.
"Except for this clown." Croaks added, as he gestured to, and I kid you not, a literal clown. People laughed at that comment, as well as the clown.
Huh. Go figure.
"But seriously, folks, we'd like to start the night off with a song." Ribby claimed.
Yep, just like High School Musical, people will break out into song.
*New Song; Mudda*
Ribby: Since we was tiny tadpoles, There's only been one gal. She washed our clothes and fed us.
*They were both apart until behind them came a painting of an old female frog, looking very annoyed.
Josh: Hey, she kinda looks like my aunt Viv.
Audrey: Josh!
Josh: I'm kidding.
Ribby and Croaks: And boosted our morale.
*They both sang at the same time, holding hands in front of their chests. They then bent to the painting and looked with sad expressions
Josh: Ok, all joking aside, did she…die?
Audrey: could be
Croaks: We owe her everything we gots. Everything we ever had.
*He sang very beautifully, as he stood next to the painting.
Ribby: And she never did run out on us,
*He sang closer to the audience as Josh and Audie placed their orders to the waiter. He quickly wrote it down and flew off, with their menus.
Ribby and Croaks: Not like our crummy dad-ah!
*They hugged each other, raising one hand upwards and clenched their gloves into fists. (daddy issues much?)
Ribby: Two, three, four!
*Just then, there was a drum roll and as people looked, they saw Ribby sitting on the piano, wagging his fingers back and before hopping on stage. The music became more lively and as he sang, the waiter came with Audrey and Josh's food, as they thanked him and dug in.
Ribby and Croaks: Mudda. We love you, mudda. In this garlic bread called life, she was the butter!
*They danced back to back while walking upright back and forth. The faces of the two were very amusing to watch, since they made Audrye giggle a bit.
Croaks: She told us boys, don't fight!
*As they continued to dance, Ribby glanced at the audience, encouraging them to sing along.
Ribby: She taught us wrong, from right.
*he began to bounce up and down to the tune, as his brother stood next to him.
Audrey: He kinda reminds me of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum bouncing like that from 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Josh: Oh yeah, I can see it.
Ribby and Croaks: Her heart, it was pure go-old! She was our mudda!
*they had their mouths open like they were at the opera, making Audrey giggle more. But as the song progressed, Audrey heard a thunk and rustling in the vents above them
Mugman: You're stepping on my fingers!"
Cuphead: Hey! Watch it!
Audrey: (groaning) oh you gotta be kidding me…
Josh: Are you ok?
Audrey: I think we have a few stowaways in the shafts, with cups for heads.
Josh: oh come on…
*End of song*
"We miss youse, Ma!" Ribby wailed, as the music concluded, and the audience began to applaud. While that was happening, suddenly, they all heard some fighting in the vent shafts, as well as seeing an imprint of Mugman's face.
"Hey-o! Who's up there?!" Ribby called. Audrey had a bad feeling, especially since now the fighting got them into more trouble than it previously did.
Croaks looked around until he saw a firefly about to serve someone their food. He grabbed the little guy grunting "Come here, firefly!"
Locking and loading like a gun, similar to what the Devil did at the carnival with his pitchfork, Croaks used the behind of the bug to shoot, well, fire like a flame thrower.
"Oh no, That's not good." Audrey muttered. She grabbed her pen and notebook, believing this was not gonna end well.
And she had every right to.
The flames made the shafts heat up, making the boys feel the heat.
"Ow!, Hot, hot, hot!" they gasped, and quickly crawled through another pathway and fell into the freezer.
Just then, part of the heated shaft fell off, near the stage, causing the curtains to catch on fire as well as the image of their mother.
"Ma's on fire!" Ribby cried as the flames spread.
"You saying it's my fault?!" Croaks growled at him.
"So what if I am?!" Ribby snapped back. And then the two proceeded to box fight once more.
Audrey rolled her eyes as she quickly drew a long water hose from her book. Their fighting caused the audience to gasp, surprised by their behavior.
Quickly stopping, Ribby sheepishly claims "All part of the show, folks."
He then turned to the same firefly waiter and ordered "Hey, you. Put out Ma" And turning and snapping to the band he growled "Make with the music."
As the music began to play, Audrey finished drawing the hose and used it to fight the fire. Once they were put out, she took a sigh of relief and sat down.
"Something tells me this date night is not gonna end well." She sighed.
"Yeah, I had a funny feeling when I saw those two fight, it would lead to trouble." Josh groaned, biting into his food.
Audrey bit her lip and wondered if the boys were ok. While she wanted to know how they got on board, and more importantly why they were sneaking around, she worried for their safety.
Along with everyone else's.
While the drama was happening in the dining area, meanwhile, a anthropomorphic bulldog stepped into the freezer to collect some frozen meat, He had tan skin, wearing a light blue shirt with rolled up sleeves, white gloves, a white apron that had food stains on it, a black tie, gray pants and black dress shoes.
Once he grabbed the frozen meat, he placed them on hooks above the sink, and left the meat to thaw. However it was no ordinary meat, since it was Cuphead and Mugman who were frozen solid and watched in fear as the bulldog was sharpening his knives.
Just as he was about to finish, the door to the kitchen slammed open and a voice shouted
"Sherman!"
He looked and saw an anthropomorphic dachshund lady enter, looking ticked off. She had red hair in a beehive hairstyle, weaning a dark green dress, white gloves, light green tights, green shoes that match her dress, and a light green ribbon tied around her waist.
"Dorris? What are you doin' here?" Sherman asked, surprised to see her.
"You stood me up again! You're always woikin'!" She snapped.
"Aw, sweetheart, I'm sorry." Sherman claimed, hoping it would ease her tensions. Which it sadly didn't.
"No more excuses!" She shouted. "You missed my parents' anniversiary. You missed our anniversiary!" She counted the many events he missed with her fingers, as Sherman rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Anniversary! It's anniversary!" He claimed.
"That's what I said." Dorris argued.
"No. You said anniversiary. And you said it twice." Sherman mentioned calmly. "It's the only reason I brought it up."
"Oh! Here he goes again. Correctin' me!" Dorris exclaimed. "This is why I don't tell you things. Like how your meat's escapin'."
He looked and sure enough, his 'meat' escaped, leaving a trail of water behind.
Back in the dining area, the fire was put out and the drama had calmed down. The music kept people entertained and Audrey and Josh were finishing their meal.
"Well, that was crazy." Josh giggled. "Glad it's calmed down."
"Yeah, but I don't think Ribby and Croaks are, especially with two boys sneaking around the ship like this." Audrey mentioned, wiping her mouth with her napkin.
"I'm sure they have a reason." Josh claimed. "They may not be the smartest tools in the shed, but even they know not to bust into places like these."
Audrey nodded and proceeded to eat her meal. Speaking of the boys, who were defrosted, they peeked out from one of the pillars and saw the table of ice cream.
"Hey! It's right there." Cuphead pointed out to his brother. "Now's our chance to grab it and get outta here!"
As they quickly moved to the table, suddenly they heard Ribby shout
"Hey! Youse two bums didn't pay!"
"And you stole our five bucks!" Mugman protested. It was at that moment that Audrey went to get some ice cream when she saw the quarrel between both sets of brothers.
"Oh no, you gotta be kidding." She muttered as she rushed over shouting "Hey! What's going on? Why are you two here?"
"We wanted to get some ice cream and they have some." Cuphead explained.
"But they stole our five bucks and kicked us to the river." Mugman concluded.
"Is this true?" Audrey sternly asked Ribby. "Why would you steal from children and then kick them out!?"
The frogs were startled by this, but still angry at the cups, they shouted.
"Come here youse two!"
They attempted to grab them but missed, making them run away. They rushed through the dining area with the frogs hot on their trails, passing by guests, hoping to avoid capture.
"Get back here, you little creeps!" Ribby shouted at them.
"Oh no this is not gonna end well." Audrey groaned, getting out her pen and sketchpad once more.
The boys zoomed past the Mayor and his wife, which made the frog brothers stop for a second
"Hello, Mr. Mayor. Push in your chair? How about a picture? Cheese!" Ribby smiled, as the four of them took a photo. They then proceeded their chase on the Cup boys.
The boys splitted up, while Croaks chased after Cuphead and Mugman hid under a table. He had to make like a banana and split because Croaks attempted to slam his fists on him, but missed causing the table to crash and the food to be splattered all over the customers.
Then things got more crazy.
"Cuphead! Cuphead! Cuphead!" Mugman panted, as his brother was eyeing a delicious ice cream sundae. He saw Ribby seeing red at this point, attempting to charge at them, but missed and got ice cream all over him.
Then, Croaks attempted to punch them, only to miss and hit the wall instead. Once he got his hand free, water began to spill in.
"Oh, shoot! We're on the lower level of the ship!" Audrey gasped. "We'll go under like the Titanic!"
She quickly made a barricade on the wall, patching it up and making the water flow stop. But her job wasn't finished as the frogs still tried to shatter the boys with their fists, making them hit the walls and floor, making more water and damage appear.
Josh, who was seeing the whole situation, decided to try and help Audrey, but nearly got slammed by Ribby who was chasing Mugman. "Yikes!" Josh cried, as he rushed out of the way.
The place was going bonkers, so much so, it was scaring the guests, causing them to scream in terror and make a dash out of the room. Croaks then grabbed a passing firefly (yo if it's the same one, that's mean), and shooted fire from his behind. But like last time, it caused the curtains to catch fire, as well as their mother's portrait.
"Oh come on!" Audrey shouted in frustration, as she finished patching a hole in the floor. "I just put out those flames!"
"Ma!" Ribby cried, and began to get very worried with the patrons running around screaming in terror. One of them was caught on fire!
Oops.
"All part of the show, folks. All part of the show!" Ribby tried to assure them, but at this point, no one believed him. Audrey knew it was time to go, and needed to get Josh and the boys.
"Let's make like a tree and leave!" Josh cried, as he ran to his wife and grabbed her hand.
"Agreed! Let's get the boys outta here too!"
The Cup boys ran past a table, which made Cuphead stop as he saw a huge bowl of ice cream on it.
"The ice cream! Let's grab it and get outta here!" He exclaimed to his brother. But before he could, Mugman stated
"Wait. I need to say something. I'm sorry, Cuphead."
Cuphead arched an eyebrow in confusion "For sleep-eating my ice cream?"
"I didn't sleep-eat it. I… awake-ate it!" Mugman wailed, sobbing in his hands. "I'm the worst brother ever!"
"Uh, guys!? Can we please talk about this later?!" Audrey cried. "Place is coming down! Not as bad as the carnival, but still."
But they didn't seem to leave because Cuphead placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, and assured him "Hey! No, you're not. 'Cause, I awake-ate your ice cream too."
"You did?" Mugman asked, looking at Cuppy with sad eyes.
And just like that, the two of them hugged, sighing "Aww!"
Audrey gave herself a facepalm. It was unbelievable that this whole thing started over ice cream and to find out that they both ate each other's ice cream was enough to make them stop.
And it was also awkward since both frogs were ready to pummel them on both sides.
They looked shocked and almost touched by what they said because suddenly they began to tear up.
"It's so beautiful how youse two forgive each other like that." Ribby sobbed, wiping a tear away.
"We should try to be more like that." Croaks claimed, putting an arm around his brother. "I'm sorry we's always fighting."
"Me too." Ribby nodded, as he hugged his brother. Audrey was surprised. After all that, they actually saw the error of their ways and made up. She felt a bit emotional, but it wasn't just because it was touching.
She has had a hard and rocky relationship with her older sister. She tried to keep in touch with her, especially after she moved. However, her sister didn't seem to contact her, and ultimately shut her out of her life. She tried to think of reasons why, but nothing was adding up.
She missed her, despite their differences, and wondered if she was doing ok.
Josh seemed to notice and placed an arm around her. "Hey, you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm good." Audrey nodded. "Seeing them makes me miss my sister. I hope she's ok."
The frogs turned to the cups and Ribby claimed "Youse two are family now. And with family, anything in the past is water under the-"
However, he didn't have much time to finish due to the water rising higher and higher until they were underwater. Everyone swam for it until they reached the surface for air.
Along with seeing the club sink like the Titanic, and it wasn't an iceberg to blame this time.
"Our club! It's ruined!" Ribby cried.
"You saying it's my fault?!" Croaks growled.
"So what if I am?!" Then the two proceeded to fight once more. Wow, that promise lasted for ten seconds.
New record.
Just then, they quickly stopped as they saw the Mayor and his wife float by, exhausted from the events of the evening.
Oh! Hello, Mr. Mayor., Mrs. Mr. Mayor. I trust you had a wonderful evening." Ribby smiled. But once they were gone, they resumed their fighting.
Then, the cups and humans popped up for air, as well as the ice cream sundae.
Both children took spoons, dug in and even offered spoons to Josh and Audie. They looked at each other, shrugged and took them, having some ice cream as well.
While it wasn't the most relaxing of evenings, they got to have a tasty treat in the end. Audrey, though, was a bit worn out. She knew taking care of kids was hard, but two animated characters were anything but simple.
"I hope my babysitting job will pay off for this." Audrey thought as she ate. "These two can be a handful and much more."
They soon got out of the water, soaking wet no doubt, and headed back to the cottage, hoping to warm up and get a good night's rest.
Well, that was a crazy date night! This is a favorite episode and I laughed at the comments and moments. We'll have to see what happens in our next adventure!
As always, thanks for reading! Don't forget to write a review but let's avoid the flames please :D
