In the Spring dimension, Konoka and Lingshen had entered the forest. The two then saw Chachamaru appear in a portal.
Chachamaru: (says with a kind smile) Hello there.
Konoka, after seeing Chachamaru appear through a portal, was shocked and dumbfounded.
Konoka: (yells shocked and dumbfounded) WHOAH! HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO DO THAT!?
Chachamaru: (says with a smile) Simple, Satomi gave me the ability to keep an eye on my mistress and her daughter while they have their vacations, so I don't get broken.
Konoka: (says suspicious) Yeah, right.
Chachamaru: (says stern) Your mission is to defeat the enemies and retake the palace.
Chao Lingshen: (says with a cheerful smile) That's easy.
Konoka: (says with a false cheery smile) You might not want to assume that, before you know the enemy.
Chao Lingshen: (says with a smile) It might be easy for us because we have our pactios activated.
Konoka: (says stern) Don't depend on them, because they don't last long.
Chao Lingshen: (says with a smile) If that happens then I can defeat them with my Kung Fu.
Konoka: (says cheerfully) Great.
The two then dashed towards the palace gates and as they did, they encountered an army of Robot Vampires wearing the uniforms of Chinese Kung Fu warriors.
Konoka: (asks confused) Why are we fighting robot Vampires?
Chao: (says with a nervous smile) IDK why, but we better fight them.
Konoka: (says with a sigh) Agreed.
The two then started to fight the robot Vampires as they then defeated a lot of them. Later on after having to fight 20 robot vampires it started to get harder and harder for them to fight them, but they were still persistent and ambitious to complete the training course with success. Konoka used her whip made of chopsticks to whip a whopping 6 bad guys at a time as Lingshen was kung fu kicking multiple enemies in the head.
The two then after all of that entered the dojo and when they did their Pactios had expired and they got tired and hungry which was bad because there were enemies ambushing them and it even resulted in the two getting some injuries. Lingshen however tried to continue on but Konoka noticed Lingshen go ahead without her and freaked out.
Konoka: (yells frantic) LINGSHEN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?
Lingshen: (says upset) I'm gonna complete the mission!
Konoka: (protests) Lingshen! This is a training exercise!
Lingshen was about to protest, but she then realized that Konoka was right and this was a training exercise. Lingshen then decided to listen to Konoka and save her as she jumped in and beat up some robots to give her room to save Konoka from harm's way. The two then ran all the way up to the portion of the dojo that the grand sensei resided in, but they were ambushed by two powerful muscular looking Vampire robots.
Lingshen: (says stern) Konoka you fight the Vampire robot on the left and I fight the one on the right.
Konoka: (says worried) I can't fight without my Pactio!
Lingshen: (asks confused) What do you mean?
Konoka: (says sad) I'm only good at fighting with the Pactio Card activated, otherwise I'm basically useless.
Lingshen: (says pissed) Crap, then how are we gonna complete the mission.
Konoka: (protests) Lingshen! This is merely a training exercise!
Lingshen: (says stern) I know, but we have to act like this is real life.
Lingshen then attacked the two powerful and muscular Vampire Robots as Konoka witnessed the whole fight scene helplessly as she hoped that Lingshen would succeed. Lingshen had fought the two robots with kung fu and trickery. She was about to defeat the first robot, but the other robot injured Konoka. Lingshen, no thanks to Konoka getting injured, had a bit of an internal conflict as she was ambitious to complete the training exercise, but she had to be a good friend and help Konoka get to safety. Lingshen after that had decided to do the honorable thing and save her partner and friend from getting hurt.
Lingshen, because of this, decided to save Konoka and run out of the Spring Dimension so she can get to Konoka to safety. She was very grateful that Konoka told her that it was a training exercise that she was allowed to try again and not a once and a lifetime mission that she could not fail, otherwise she would have been a bad partner by leaving Konoka at the mercy of the Robot Vampires.
The two were able to escape and when they did Lingshen ran into Kaede and Setsuna who were shocked and horrified at the sight of Konoka's injury. Setsuna then angrily walked to Lingshen as she had the desire to demand what happened to Konoka.
Setsuna: (snarls in a demanding manner) What happened to her?
Lingshen: (says sad) We failed the mission because one of the robot vampires injured her.
Setsuna: (says horrified) They what?
Lingshen: (says panicky) They injured her.
Setsuna: (snaps pissed) Damn it! we need a medic!
Chachamaru then got a healing potion and had Konoka drink it and Konoka after drinking it was feeling better.
Konoka: (says with a grateful smile) Thank you.
Chachamaru: (says with a casual smile) You're welcome.
Konoka then felt upset because she hated the fact that she was useless without the Pactio because without it, she would be more of a liability. Lingshen, Setsuna and the others noticed and they decided to comfort her.
Setsuna: (asks Konoka with a concerned tone) You okay?
Konoka: (says upset) No, because I feel useless without the Pactio.
Setsuna: (says with a smile) Don't worry Konoka, you'll do better next time.
Lingshen: (says with a cheerful smile) Plus you said it was merely a training mission.
Konoka: (says upset) I know, it's just that everytime we fight bad guys and I don't have the Pactio, I always have to be protected by someone including Setsuna or another person if we're fighting bad guys.
Setsuna: (says with a smile) It's okay Konoka, you don't have to fight without the Pactio.
Konoka: (asks confused and sad) Why so?
Setsuna: (says with a smile) Because I will always be there to protect you.
Konoka: (says sad) Setsuna, I don't want to be protected by you and the other partners, I want to protect you and the other partners, that way you don't have to die protecting me.
Setsuna: (says taken aback) Why do you say that?
Konoka: (says sad) Because dad died to protect me from the Yakuza.
Kaede and Lingshen were confused about what Konoka was talking about, but hearing that her dad died at the hands of a Yakuza made Kaede and Lingshen grim. Setsuna then explained their whole entire backstory to Kaede and Lingshen in order to help them understand why Konoka's father died at the hands of a Yakuza.
She told them that she had come from a terrible background, that her mother was a very narcissistic woman who saw all women and girls including Setsuna as her mortal enemy which made her abusive towards Setsuna and that her father steals girls' panties and sells them on Ebay for 1,000 Yen. She told them that her parents sold her to a Yakuza in order to bail her father out of prison for pulling off the panties of the teenage daughter of their city's mayor.
Setsuna had to run away from the Yakuza until they were beaten by Konoka's father who saved her and took her in as a member of Konoka's family. She said that Konoka and she had a wonderful life together as children. That was until Konoka accidentally slipped into a creek and started drowning. Setsuna tried to save her, but the Yakuza barged into the home of the Konoe family and they murdered everyone to prevent people from saving Konoka and they chased Setsuna out of the house as they tried to capture her.
Konoka, after hearing why Setsuna was sold to the Yakuza, was really upset. How could Setsuna's parents be so awful to the point that they would sell her to a Yakuza. However she was happy that her father saved Setsuna from her parents, but she was sad and upset over the fact that he had to die and suffer for the kind act of saving Setsuna from a Yakuza. However if it wasn't for that, Setsuna would not have saved Negi, Nodoka, Asuna and Konoka herself from a giant dragon.
Lingshen after hearing that had flashbacks to her past as her past is similar to that of Konoka. Lingshen herself was from a rich and aristocratic family in China that lived in Hong Kong. They had lived in prosperity, until a triad raided their home and stole all of their money which made the family go broke. Ever since then Lingshen's family moved to Mahora City to start a new life and business and Lingshen ever since then attended Mahora Academy. Lingshen realized that she and Konoka do have something in common and it's that the two of them are smart and they both had tragic pasts.
Lingshen knew that she and Setsuna might have to work hard to protect Konoka or teach her how to fight without the Pactio because Konoka is really important to the group, especially if she was the very person who got Setsuna on their side.
The four looked into the winter diorama sphere as they hoped Asuna and Ku Fei were successful.
