An: Sorry it took so long to update. I needed to take a break. I kind of lost direction with this story, but I believe I'm getting it back. I hope you enjoy this chapter and I'll try to update again soon
She feels nervous as she drives to her house. She never really did this before. She has only one friend and absolutely no experience with guys unless you count turning them down. "So where did you live before moving here?" She asks, trying to start a conversation and ease her nerves.
"My sister and I lived in Texas." He tells her. "My parents died when I was young. I met Esme and the rest of the Cullens shortly after. I never knew them before. "
"Mrs. Cullen is your aunt right? At least that's what I hear."
"Yeah, but like I said Rose and I never knew her before we joined the family. She was estranged from my mother, but she was the only family we had." She can see he was uncomfortable, so she moves on.
"So where after Texas did you live?"
"We lived in Rochester, New York for a bit. Rose liked it until she had some problems with some of the people there." Ace glances at him with curiosity. "It's not my story to tell. We lived in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Volturi, Italy, and Columbus, Ohio before we finally settled in Alaska. Alaska is one of the longest places that we stayed before, but Esme didn't like the isolation. She thought it would benefit us to be around kids our age and have the structure of a routine."
"You sound like you disagree."
"I'm not a big fan of being around people." Jasper says slowly, as if worried about offending her.
"I get it. Honestly the only person I can stand being around that is my own age is Leah. Most of the time I spend my time with adults. I just find kids our age to be so immature." Jasper smiles and she feels her heart ache at the sight.
"Yeah… it's difficult to be around. You grow tired of it quickly. All that drama."
"All the hormones." He chuckles.
"Exactly." She gives another smile before pulling into her driveway. The two get out and grab their bags from the back before starting up the walkway.
"So what was life in Alaska like?" She asks as she unlocks her front door.
"It's cold. There's snow all year round. It's also only dark one month of every year, the rest is all sunlight. It's difficult to adjust."
"Yeah, I'm sure. I have to have complete darkness when I sleep. That's why I have blackout curtains."
"After a few months you grow used to it and then the month of total darkness comes and you're all out of sorts again." She laughs.
"So, don't move to Alaska, got it." He laughs along with her. His laugh is deep and gravely, sending heat through her body. "Do you want something to eat or drink?"
"No thank you. I'm good." She nods and grabs a soda for herself and pops a cookie into her mouth. Jasper takes out his books. "We probably should do our homework and get it over with." She hates homework, but she knows he is right. She'll put it off until the last minute then have to rush to finish it before class starts.
She takes a seat at the dining room table with him and together they get through the homework, keeping an ice pack on her cheek to get the swelling down. She was supposed to have history, science, health, and Spanish before the end of the day, but because she left early she didn't have the homework for those classes. Jasper did have the homework for Spanish and history so she didn't have to worry about that, but they both found that they shared the other two classes. "We'll have to ask Rose and Emmett for the homework." Ace says. She looks up to see Jasper staring at her. "What?"
"Nothing." She raises an eyebrow. "You called her Rose." Ace shrugs.
"You've been doing it so I just picked it up. I'll make sure not to call her that to her face."
"You can call her that. She won't mind."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Believe it or not I think Rose likes you."
"That was her liking me?"
"That was her testing you. She's rather protective of my family. Her telling you she doesn't care about your father's profession is her way of saying that she accepts you. She is guarded. She never really reveals her feelings or thoughts. She's been hurt in the past. But if she hated you then she'd make it very clear to you." Ace smiles slightly. She sort of likes Rose too. The girl was definitely a bitch, but so is Ace. She can see them getting along as long as they didn't push the other. This whole accepting the other person has to continue or they'll kill one another. She knows this as easily as she knows her father snuck an extra cookie for his lunch today. They have to work together if they want to get along. Compromise is key.
Her hair falls into her face as she looks down at her work. A cold hand brushes her cheek causing her eyes to lift up. Jasper brushes the hair behind her ear. "Sorry." He apologizes as he pulls his hand away.
"It's fine." She gives him a shy smile. He smiles in return. A strange tension begin to rise. Jasper moves his hand back to her face, his thumbing brushing her warm cheek. She's thankful the swelling is gone, leaving just a split in her lip that she hopes isn't noticeable. He continues to caress her cheek and stare into her eyes. This is like all those cliche moments in the tv shows she watches. The boy caresses the girl's cheek, gazing longingly in her eyes, before giving her a tender kiss that quickly turns passionate. At least that's how those tv shows go. This isn't a tv show.
The door opens and Jasper abruptly pulls away from her. Her cheeks pinken and a feeling of frusteration and disappointment fill her. That is until her father walks through the door. Then the feeling turns to dread. He can be so ridiculous at times and she knows he's going to be all over her for having a boy in the house when he wasn't home, but he'll wait until Jasper leaves. Until Jasper leaves her father is going to interrogate him as if Jasper's a common thug.
-Charlie's pov-
He pauses as he takes in the beautiful blonde sitting at his dining room table and his red cheeked daughter. His fear beginning to rise. His daughter finally found an interest in boys. "I didn't know you were having friends over Cia." He says gruffly, watching as her cheeks redden. Oh, this is more than just some crush. He can see right away. She fancies herself in love already and he knows the feeling. He felt the same way when he first met Renee. He just hopes this time is different.
"Um, dad, this is Jasper Cullen. He and I were just working on homework together." She says, a warning in her eyes.
"Cullen? Are you one of the new doctor's foster kids?" Charlie asks, eyeing over the boy, who has since stood up at Charlie's arrival.
"Yes, sir. I'm his nephew." Charlie hums in response, staring the boy down. The boy doesn't so much as flinch. He's tougher than he looks, Charlie can give him that, but it's going to take a lot more than just that to impress Charlie.
"Heard you were from Alaska."
"I'm originally from Texas. My sister and I moved in with my aunt ten years ago." He tells Charlie. Something about this kid is sending warning alarms off in his mind. There's a darkness inside the boy's eyes and he stands not like a kid but that of a soldier. Perfectly straight and stiff. His arms behind his back.
"And your parents?" Ace gives him a horrified look, but he ignores her. This is his daughter and he was not about to let some charming southern gentleman sweep in and break her heart. Ace is tough and he loves her for it, but that only means she will break all that more painful.
"They died." He answers, his voice emotionless, but Charlie can see the emotion in his eyes. "Illness took them. My sister and I moved in with our aunt shortly after."
"Dad, you should probably hang up your belt and get out of your uniform. I'm going to start dinner soon." Ace cuts in. He almost snorts. She thinks this is over? No way in hell will he be letting this boy off so easily. "Dad." She says as if reading his mind. He glances over at her and sees a desperate plea in her eyes. This is the first boy she likes, her first real crush. He can't crush her. He's just trying to protect her, but if he chases Jasper Cullen off before Ace can see for herself if the boy is worth her time then she'll never forgive him.
"Alright. I'll put my guns up and get changed." He says as he hangs up the belt and passes Jasper. "I have more though." He says, a clear warning in his voice. Jasper nods subtly, taking the warning and silently promising to not have it come to that.
"Did you want to stay for dinner?" He hears his daughter say.
"No, Esme likes having dinners together as a family. She's big on family bonding. But I'll see you tomorrow at school. Did you want to trade numbers? I can send you that homework you missed." Oh that boy was smooth. Charlie dislikes him even more.
"Sure." Charlie heads into his room, once more cursing god for giving him a daughter, but also swearing his eternal love for that troublesome girl. She's going to put him in an early grave for sure.
-Jasper's pov-
Jasper hops up into Emmett's jeep and tosses his bag in the back. "So… what happened?" Emmett asks. Jasper turns his phone back on and instantly it blows up with messages. He knew it would be like that. Alice with her whole 'I saw'. She no doubt saw his desire to kill that girl. Jasper squeezes his eyes shut as he remembers that woman. Her and her friends talking about his mate. What they called Ace… it still makes his venom boil.
"I didn't kill the girl." He speaks up.
"No, you did the smart thing and got out. But I wasn't talking about the bitch. I'm talking about Ace. You spent the entire afternoon with her." Jasper rolls his eyes, a smile coming to his lips. "So, come on, tell me all about it." Emmett grins, nudging Jasper.
"We didn't do anything. We just went to her house and did homework."
"Seriously? She's your mate, Jay and I can tell she's already hot for you even without your empath abilities." Jasper sighs and looks over at Emmett.
"Swear?" Emmett rolls his eyes.
"Do you even need to ask? The only person I'd tell anything to is Rosie. I know how to keep my thoughts hidden."
"Just swear."
"I swear. The only one I'll tell is Rose, promise." Jasper sighs. He hates people being in his business, but Emmett and Rose are different. They respect his privacy and if he really doesn't want to share then they won't push. Plus, he can trust them to keep silent. Alice is incapable of keeping a secret, especially one that isn't hers. Esme is just as bad. She will dive right in and try to get everything she can out of him. Carlisle will push his own way in. He just wants her to himself for a while and to be left alone.
"I came out of the school and she was there. She was heading home. She had an accident in gym."
"Yeah, Alice told us. She was focused on the vision on you that she never had a chance to help Ace. She took a dodgeball to the face." Emmett grimaces at thought.
"I had her blood on me. I did it without thinking." Emmett's head snaps towards him. "I wiped her lip. Even with her blood on me I still felt no desire for it."
"Really?" Jasper nods. "She is literally made for you. You have the worst time with your control and here's a girl who you have no interest in when it comes to feeding."
"Don't tell, Carlisle what I'm about to tell you." Emmett leans forward. "I took a big risk, but I felt I needed to know. I tried it." Emmett looks at him in confusion before it hit him.
"Jay…"
"I felt nothing, Em. Her blood is the sweetest thing I have ever tasted and yet I had no desire to drain her. It's like having a treat. You don't need it, but you like having it. I'll have it if it's given to me but I feel no need to have it. I have no lust or hunger, just admiration at her blood."
"I wonder if that goes for all of us or just you."
"That I'm not willing to try."
"I don't blame you." Emmett says. "So her blood really doesn't do anything for you?"
"Nope."
"So what happened after?"
"She invited me to her house. We did some homework and talked. Nothing really. Her dad showed up."
"How did he take to you being all over his little girl?"
"He's protective and he's definitely brave. There's no doubt he saw the predator in me. I felt his unease, but his love for his daughter overruled it. He's wary of me and worried about me hurting her, but he's not fully against me."
"So there's a chance to win him over?"
"Yeah, but I have to do this carefully. The two are close and the last thing I want is to ruin that."
"It'll be ruined anyways. If you turn her then she'll have to say goodbye to him one day."
"I have time, especially now that I know I'll feel no hunger towards her. I'm not as dangerous as I feared when it comes to her."
"Just be careful. If you need us on standby just ask and by us I mean Rose and I."
"Thanks Em."
"So nothing happened? You didn't grope her or taste her."
"Emmett." He warns.
"I'm just saying. She's young, she's beautiful, and she certainly hungry. She was practically stripping you naked at lunch."
"Don't make me kill you."
"Please, what would you do without me? I'm the only thing keeping Rose from killing everyone." The two guys chuckled at that.
"Still? No foreplay?" Emmett's head slams into the wheel and a series of swears left his mouth.
"Thin line, Em, thin line." Emmett thankfully kept his mouth shut the rest of the ride.
As they pull up to the house Jasper already knows that tonight will be a long one. Everyone is in the dining room, which is where they hold meetings. He can feel the emotions coming from inside. Rose is pissed as all hell, Alice is all over the place with her excitement, Edward is feeling envious and angry, Esme is full of curiosity and excitement, and Carlisle… his emotions make Jasper want to laugh and scream. Carlisle is feeling angry, anxious, annoyed, and also a hint of curiosity. He's probably pissed that his golden boy is the last to find his mate. Jasper still remembers Rose telling him how Carlisle tried to give her to Edward.
"They're holding a meeting aren't they?" Emmett asks, already knowing the answer. Jasper let's out a heavy breath.
"This is going to be a long night." He heads up the stairs and walks inside. He drops his bag off by the stairs and makes his way to the dining room, all in human speed knowing it pisses Edward off.
Edward glares daggers at Jasper as he walks into the room. Carlisle is sitting at the head of the table and Edward is sitting at the foot of it. Like kings over seeing their peasants between them. Esme sits to the right of Carlisle, while Alice sits to the left. Rosalie sits one chair over from Esme, leaving the space open for Emmett. Jasper takes a seat beside Alice, leaving a seat between him and Edward.
"Good, I'm glad you're home. We have things to discuss." Emmett slips into his seat as Carlisle is talking. Jasper stares quiet and cautious. "Edward tells me there is a girl at the school Emmett believes has no scent."
"She doesn't." Jasper says, not giving anything away. Emmett keeps his promise and keeps quiet. The last thing Jasper wants is Ace becoming Carlisle's lab rat. He can only imagine what Carlisle would do if he knew Ace's blood has no scent and didn't drive Jasper into a frenzy.
Jasper has become good at keeping his thoughts hidden from Edward. Edward can only read surface thoughts and being a vampire, they can think several things at once. Jasper thinks about his family in Texas on the surface and thinks about Ace deeper down.
"Alice has also informed us that the girl is your mate." Jasper keeps the neural mask on his face, but his anger spikes. He had wanted to keep this information from getting out to Edward and Carlisle, but of course Alice can't keep her mouth shut. He knew the moment he arrived that that was what the anger was about. Carlisle doesn't like anyone beating his golden boy in anything.
"Yes, she is." He can feel the frustration coming from Carlisle.
"You should invite her over." Esme says. "What is she like? Do you know what her favorite food is? I can cook for her." More like you can suss her out and get everything you can out of her. There's no way he's letting Ace near Esme or Carlisle.
"You need to be cautious, son. She could be a danger to us. She doesn't have a scent and that could be a risk to this family. We don't know what she's capable of or if she's even human to begin with." Jasper lets out a short, drawing their attention.
"I assure you, she's human. She's no more a danger than the rest of her kind." Jasper says.
"I've heard what people think of her." Edward cuts in. "They say she is a whore-" Jasper has Edward by the thought and pinned to the floor in seconds.
"Edward." Esme gasps in fear.
"Jasper, let him go." Carlisle orders.
"If you ever call my mate that again I will kill you." Jasper says, hearing Esme gasp in horror. "Not even Esme and Carlisle will be able to save you."
"Jasper, that is enough!" Carlisle yells. Jasper wants to laugh. Carlisle may be older, but he will never be a match to Jasper. Jasper could kill them all before they even had a chance to beg for mercy. Jasper's hand tightens on Edward's throat, crushing his windpipe.
"Anything to do with my mate is between her and I." He gets off Edward. "I'll say when she comes here. If she comes here. We will not discuss her any further. She is none of your concern." He looks at Carlisle with cold eyes. "And she won't become your experiment." With that he left the room feeling his anger boiling.
"I told them they shouldn't have the meeting. I told them you would be upset." Rose says from the doorway.
"She isn't their concern."
"No, she's not. If you wish to tell us about her and have her meet the whole family then that's your choice. Otherwise we should stay out of your way and give you privacy." Jasper slowly lets out a long breath of air.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." He can see she has questions, but it's not safe to discuss Ace here. "I'm glad you had a good time with Ace. I'm sorry that this is what you came home to." Jasper just gives a jerky nod. Rose takes the hint and leaves Jasper to his thoughts.
~Ace's pov~
Ace goes to sleep that night with a slip to her step. For the first time in a long time she's looking forward to school tomorrow. She is full of excitement and joy. She can't wait to see Jasper again.
As she sleeps she becomes lost in a dream centered around the beautiful southern blonde.
She's laying down in a bed of moss with a beautiful lake beside her. The lake has a waterfall and a field of flowers on the other side. It's in the middle of dense woods and as breathes all she can smell is the natural surroundings her. "It's so beautiful here." She whispers.
"It pales in comparison to you." She turns her head and finds Jasper above her.
"That was cheesy." He grins.
"I blame you. You make me soft." Ace laughs.
"Well, we can't have that, can we?" She lowers her hand and grabs his crotch in a soft grip. He grunts.
"Seductress." She leans up and kisses him behind his ear.
"You love it." He grins and nips her neck.
"Undress."
"Yes, sir." He slaps her ass.
"Don't give me sass. Do what you're told." She shivers at the authority in his voice. He moves back to give her enough room to peel off her shirt. His eyes hungrily moved across her chest. She's thankful that she's wearing one of her lacy bras, this one is black, which just makes it sexier. She unclips it from the front, her breasts spilling out. He groans and lowers his head, sucking on her tender flesh, rubbing his teeth across her sensitive nipple. She moans, burying her hand into his ear.
"Jasper." She breathes. He grins against her and pulls back, causing to whine.
"Continuing undressing." She tosses her bra off to the side and kicks her boots off, not bothering to untie them, the laces are loose enough. She unbuckles her jeans and shimmies out of them. She's wearing matching panties, which Jasper literally rips off her.
"Jasper!"
"I'll buy you another pair. Now, spread your legs." She moans and does so. Who knew she actually liked being told what to do. He moves down her body and begins to pepper kisses against her thigh.
"Stop teasing."
"Beg."
"What?" He looks up at her with black eyes.
"Beg."
"Ugh I hate you." She gasps at the sting of her thigh as he slaps it.
"Beg, Accacia."
"Fuck. Please, Jay, please, baby. Please lick me. Suck my clit, eat me out, fuck me open with your fingers."
"Good girl." She shivers at the praise. He grins and lowers her head. She bites her lip in anticipation.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
Ace groans as her alarm clock wakes her up. She buries her face into her pillow, desperate for the dream to come back, but it's gone like a puff of smoke. She whines as she is left with nothing more than soaked panties and an ache between her thighs. Life is so cruel.
