"Lena! Lena! Lena! I want to go ice skating." Lena sighed as she drew her head up from her book and placed her reading glasses on the table. Why Kara wanted to go ice skating was beyond the witch, it was loud, with too many children screaming and the occasional drunk idiot who decided that wearing razor-sharp blades on their feet was a good idea. Plus, there was the fact that neither she nor Kara could ice-skate, as far as her knowledge went. "Kara, a stór, do you really think that is a good idea? Neither of us can ice skate, and my balance leaves something to be desired. You know how often you've had to catch me because I fell off something."
"Please, Lena!" Laoina reluctantly agreed, but if this was going to happen, she would do it right. She began researching the different ice rings around the city, comprising a list of the top-rated ones. She started calling around to find out which ones were suitable for their needs; it had to be quiet for Kara and not too crowded for her. She found one between her and Kara's office, a comfortable walk for both of them to meet. "Hello, how can I help, ma'am?" Lena asked whether she could book out for the afternoon. The man agreed, asking if he could do anything more to help. "No, I think that will be all. Go raibh maith agat."
Kara walked from her office to the ice ring, needing space to think, primarily about whether she looked ok and learning how to skate. She opened the large metal doors, looking around at the seemingly empty stadium, "Lee, I'm here. Where is everyone?" Laoina came rushing over to the door, encasing the Kryptonian in a warm hug before placing a kiss on her lips. "I hired the whole ring, thought it would be better without all the people. Plus, no one needs to see me fall over; imagine the headlines: Lena Luthor Most Notorious CEO Can't Stand Straight." Kara laughed, "Well, it would be true both ways. You're dating me, after all." Laoina giggled, booping Kara on the nose. They both got fitted with skates before waddling off to the ice hand in hand, Lena relying heavily on Kara to stay upright.
"Oh, Lena, look, they have those penguin things! Come on!" Kara dragged Lena over the nearest penguin clumsy, with both of them colliding into it with a large huff. They spent the evening skating around, Kara pushing the penguin, Lena gripping for life on the wall. "Lena, come here; I think I've got the hang of this." Laoina carefully reached for a penguin, then threw herself on Kara, "You sure about this, mo ghrá?" The alien nodded, letting go of the penguin and pulling the witch along beside her. "D'fhéadfainn an oíche ar fad a chaitheamh anseo, leat."
"Sometimes, the two people most meant for each other are the last two to realise it." Bones
