Summary: The weeks passed, and Aodham grew in confidence, even starting to play with Aithusa. However, the sight Laoina loved the most was when she came home from work to find them both curled up on Aithusa's bed, cuddling close.

Notes: Dragons. I like dragons. I thought that Morgana's little dragon Aithusa needed to make an appearance. This is one of the storylines in Merlin that killed me. God that dragon was so cute, and deserved better like Morgana. As you can tell I'm in a bit of a Merlin phase at the moment

As always, let me know what you think.

"Let me tell you, the only way to get rid of dragons is to have one of your own."

The DEO had dealt with all kinds of different creatures before, from cute little fluffy aliens to towering civilizations with the strength of 10 men. All in all, they saw themselves as ready to deal with anyone the universe threw at them. However, this latest creature that had made its presence known, well, they were clueless. Nothing on their databases had anything about a blood-red, fire-breathing, winged giant lizard. Agents started declaring dragons were real, and How To Train Your Dragon was just a cover-up to convince people they were part of their imaginations. This being had no markers that it was alien in origin, no unusual elements; it could yet have well originated on Earth. But they would know, right, if dragons were real?

"Kara, you can't be serious in calling this thing a dragon? Dragons aren't real, just like the Arthurian legends they belong to. It's not like Morgana walks on the Earth unnoticed by society. There has to be some other explanation!" Kara knew one, well technically, two of those things her sister said to be true. Morgana very much walked on the Earth unnoticed by humans. Actually, was she human? Kara added that to the list of things she wanted to ask her friend. So if that was true, dragons couldn't be that far of a stretch, surely. "Alex, when are you going to admit that magic might exist in the world? For Rao's sake, we have aliens, your sister being one." Alex let out a frustrated sigh, asking Brainy to research the mystery surrounding National City's latest visitor. Kara decided to do some research of her own, reaching for her phone to text the witch that might have some information about dragons.

K: This is what we are fighting now. You wouldn't happen to know anything about it, would you?

Lena's phone dinged, bringing her out of the pile of paperwork that occupied her desk. She stared at the picture with a sense of joy; it was a beautiful creature she had almost but long forgotten. They were becoming so rare, apart from Aithusa, whom she believed to be safe, curled up in the Luthor mansion somewhere. Then there was Kilgharrah, who died about 10 years ago. But there on her phone was a photo of a very much alive magic dragon. It was smaller than Kilgharrah, probably still growing. She wasn't quite as small as Aithusa, though no dragon should have to go through what she did. The witch wonders how her beloved pet was still always cheerful, a smile gleaming on her face that often reminded Lena of a certain Kryptonian.

L: That my friend is a young magic dragon. Haven't seen one in a while, not since Kilgharrah died 10 years ago. I will be at the DEO in an hour. Just need to nip to the mansion to grab a few things to help.

Laoina's journey home was uneventful, deciding to drive the 15 minutes to the mansion rather than portal or fly. She wanted the time to think about this discovery. More Albion creatures were turning up like the kingdom had a second life all these centuries later. That magic was becoming stronger once again, with her no longer having to go to religious sights to amplify her power for more complex spells. It humbled her to think she could once again be herself. Morgana could rise again.

Once at the mansion, she found Aithusa, giving her her evening meal and plenty of scratches. She told the dragon about the new arrival and how she planned to bring it back to the mansion after they had found it. Lena hated seeing her beloved pet lonely for most of the day while she was at work. You can't really bring a dragon into the office, even if she was irresistibly cute. Lena went around her study collecting all she could on magic dragons, with most of her books being on light dragons, like Aithusa; it took longer than she would have liked. She made a pile in the corner of the room with books, manuscripts and food, much to Aithusa's resistance to sharing her food and Morgana with a stranger.

She opened a portal into a back room at the DEO and began transporting her pile of dragon goodies. Upon the final trip into her study, she was met with the puzzled look of Aithusa, "Níl, caithfidh tu fanacht sa bhaile. Tá brón orm. B'fhéidir an chéad uair eile?" The small dragon seemed disappointed, putting on a puppy face to try and change her mhaithar mind. When Lena didn't budge, she returned to playing with her treat ball. The portal closed, allowing the witch to focus on the conversation between Alex and Kara she could hear through the door.

"What's Lena going to do? I don't see how she could help? It's not a science problem, Kara." That was Lena's cue to make her arrival known. She confidently stepped out to the bullpen, transforming her clothes into something much more Morgana-appropriate. The business suit was done away with and replaced by a black corset dress with a dark green overskirt, with slightly tacky hemlines and intricate black lace long sleeves. Her hair came down from its neat bun, messily flowing over her shoulders, with various small Celtic knot plats scattered through the slightly matted mess. "What am I going to do, indeed, Director Danvers?" Kara turned, her jaw dropping at the sight of her best friend. Rao, the rugged look really suited her; it looked like she was pulled straight out of a mediaeval forest. "That is a young magic dragon, about 3 years old, I would say. Though I am no dragon lord, they died out a long time ago. The poor thing looks terrified. If you go in there, you will find everything I have on magic dragons and some food. Though, please don't use all the food, Aithusa was rather disappointed to say goodbye to her favourite snacks. I'm sure she would be grateful for any leftovers."

Alex just stared gobsmacked at the woman before them, unsure what to make of the situation. How the hell did Lena know about dragons, and what was she wearing? Alex followed her into the room in question, finding piles upon piles of books, scrolls and manuscripts with various intricate dragon designs on them. "Um, Lena, what's going on?" Before the witch could explain, she felt a portal open behind her. Aithusa had found a remote and, trying to pick it up with her claws, had opened it to the last destination. The dragon looked confused momentarily before spying on her máthair and clumsily flying into Morgana. "Aithusa, you know not to play with my things." She scratched the white beast giving her a kiss on her head. "Right, I should probably explain. Long story short, I'm Morgana, a witch. Hence knowing about the dragon and Kara texting me. And this here is Aithusa; she won't harm you; just keep calm. She's a light dragon. I used to have a great dragon called Kilgharrah, but unfortunately, he passed away 10 years ago." Kara was immediately taken by the dragon, and Aithusa was loving the attention. Alex was still wary around both her and Laoina, not really knowing what to do with the newfound truth that dragons do, in fact, exist. They are native to Earth, and her sister's best friend was an ancient witch with one for a pet.

After an hour of research, they had come up with a plan. Lena and Aithusa would call for the dragon on the roof of the DEO, and the witch would put a spell on the surrounding air, containing the reptile, till she gained its trust. Alex was a little apprehensive about letting Lena take the dragon home but knew it was the best place for it. She had absolutely no idea how to care for the beast.

"You want to ride a dragon, Kara?" Who wouldn't want to ride a dragon? Aithusa dropped her head, allowing Morgana to climb on, and bowled to Kara as she carefully sat on her back. "Uasal Aithusa." The dragon steadily rose off the balcony, being careful not to knock her wings on the windows. Higher and Higher, they climbed, soaring above the clouds. It felt freeing, even for the alien who could fly through space daily if she felt inclined to. "Kara, hold on!" Morgana told Aithusa to call out, the dragon making a loud crying sound, before turning vertically towards the ground and allowing herself to fall. Lena felt Kara's grip tighten as they plummeted back down to Earth. Aithusa flattened out just in time to land on the roof of the DEO, giving one final call out to the magic dragon. "Oh, that was mean, Aithusa. Sorry about that. I hope she didn't scare you too much?" Kara looked almost as white as a sheet, giving the dragon a small pet and making her way to Alex's smiling face. "Oh, did falling scare the oh-so-powerful supergirl? Come here, baby sis."

A rotation of onlookers came the next couple of hours as Lena danced with the new dragon that responded to Aithusa's call. "Tá sé ceart go leor, níl aon duine chun tú a ghortú." The dragon slowly became more trusting. "I mo thuairimse is gá duit? Aodham?" Over the next couple of days, the witch spent every hour on the roof, mostly sitting in her chair reading, waiting for Aodham to come to her. After three days, she had managed to get him home, with him becoming very attached to Aithusa. Laoina couldn't tell if her beloved dragon was happy to have a friend or if she was annoyed about having to share her space.

The weeks passed, and Aodham grew in confidence, even starting to play with Aithusa. However, the sight Laoina loved the most was when she came home from work to find them both curled up on Aithusa's bed, cuddling close. She sent a photo to the group chat.

"I think they are going to be great friends."

Notes: Oh Aodham is pronounced Adien and it means 'little fire'. And Aithusa from Merlin's name means 'with me'. Which just made that dragon 10 times cuter. I don't get how someone could do what they did to Aithusa and Morgana. That dragon is just so precious. Oh and as you can see the great dragon Kilgharrah is also here though dead. And Katie in her iconic Morgana dress *chefs kiss* Anyway, I was going to post this yesterday but family crises do have a way of interrupting.

As always Irish in this:
Níl, caithfidh tu fanacht sa bhaile. Tá brón orm. B'fhéidir an chéad uair eile? - No you can't come with me. Sorry. Maybe next time?
Mhaithar - mother's
Uasal Aithusa - gentle Aithusa
Tá sé ceart go leor, níl aon duine chun tú a ghortú. - It's ok, no one is going to hurt you
I mo thuairimse is gá duit? - I think you need a name?
