You thought the previous chapter was overwhelming? Fine, I'll make this one a bit more relaxed.
"That's awful to know! Poor Lola." Miku felt horrible for Meiko after Len told her everything.
"It's better if we never discuss it again." Len recommended.
"Absolutely not, I totally have to apologize to Meiko for entering that room." Miku disagreed with Len.
"But what if you make her even more upset?" Len argued.
"It's worth the risk." Miku answered.
"You're as naive as ever Miku." Len was not happy with this.
Meiko was sitting in her room, still in her red robe from last night. She was drinking away her sorrows. Her alcohol issues have always been a problem for her, but she still suppresses them because she knows if she doesn't drink responsibly, it would ruin her life.
"Look Meiko, I'm sorry for entering that room without your permission, I had absolut-" as Miku was apologizing, Meiko cut her off.
"What?" She said in a drunk voice.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have entered the room with Lola's picture." Miku fully apologized.
Due to alcohol's influence, Meiko got sadder than usual from hearing Lola's name and broke down in tears "No need to apologize! It's my fault! I can't let the past go." Meiko was crying uncontrollably now.
"Look Meiko, you don't need to beat yourself up over this." Miku said.
"I don't know how else to react, I always dreamed of becoming an MMA fighter, it was my passion, still is, but before I could have my first fight, Sachiko retired." Meiko had just revealed something that Len hadn't told Miku.
"Retired? What?" Miku couldn't believe it.
"When I was training to become a fighter, I always wanted to kick Sachiko's ass for Lola," Meiko told Miku "but she retired just before I could start, I never got the chance to fight her."
"That's too bad." Miku said.
"I still became an MMA fighter, it was always my dream after all, I never gave up fighting for my dreams." Meiko admitted.
"Well, my suggestion may sound insane, but I think you should talk to Sachiko." Miku recommended.
"NEVER!" Meiko yelled.
"Look, you can never truly be happy without it, without letting go off the past, you'll always be broken inside, you don't have to talk to Sachiko, but at least consider it." Miku said with genuine concern.
Miku left Meiko's room. Meiko didn't understood how to act. Miku had just told her to talk it out with Sachiko. She can't talk to Sachiko, that bitch killed Lola. Why would she want to get along with her? But Miku's right, this will always torture Meiko mentally unless she puts the past behind. She has to confront her hatred for Sachiko. Though surely there were better ways than talking, right? Simply, she was conflicted.
Len saw a bucket of fruits in the kitchten. He grabbed a banana and started eating, he had always loved bananas. Kaito got there and he had a smile on his face.
"So, how is it going for you young man?" Kaito asked.
"You're creepy, don't get how Meiko has a butler like you." Len said as he took another bite.
"I'm his butler because I always wanted to be." Kaito answered.
"You always wanted to be?" Len didn't get it.
"I'm her childhood friend from the orphanage she lived her life in." Kaito revealed.
Len spat out his banana "WHAT?!"
"Yeah." Kaito assured.
"Why didn't Meiko ever talked about you in any interview or wrote about you in any of her books?" Len questioned.
"Because I'm the only one from her childhood who's still around in her life, she doesn't want my life to be filled with media attention and destroy the last bit of privacy we have with one another." Kaito explained.
"So, you've have known Meiko?" Len asked.
"Ever since we were both toddlers," Kaito admitted "when we were both five years old, Lola arrived in her life and she changed everything."
"You were there." Len couldn't believe it.
"You bet I was there and watched it happen, I even attended Lola's funeral." Kaito told him.
"STOP IT! I'm getting jealous." Len wasn't happy with the amount of revelations.
"A while after Meiko left the orphanage to train for MMA when we were both 10, I immediately got adopted by a man named Leon." Kaito revealed.
"How was this Leon guy." Len asked.
"He was amazing, he was a flute player and even taught me, couldn't have asked for a better father." Kaito smiled.
"Where is he now?" Len asked another question.
"He died a few years ago from a throat infecttion, it was hard breathing for him in those last few days," Kaito frowned "after losing Leon, I knew what a star Meiko had became, I remembered our promise, and I returned to her life to do anything that could've gotten me paid."
"You're not as big of a loser as I thought." Len said.
"Really?" Kaito smiled.
"But you're still a loser." Len chuckled.
Kaito got annoyed "What an annoying little punk."
Meiko still sat in her room. She had ran out of alcohol. Her mind was messing with her. She never wanted to be polite to Sachiko, but it looks like she has nothing else that could make her feel better. Facing the past is all she can do right now, but she wasn't gonna do it alone. She wanted to do it together with her best friend that she hadn't met for years.
Meiko grabbed her phone and made a call. "Hello, I know we haven't met in forever, but I want you to come somewhere with me."
"Where do you want me to go with you?" The voice on the phone asked.
"Sachiko's home." Meiko answered.
"Have you lost your mind?" Her friend couldn't believe it.
"Maybe, but I'm committed to this idea now, we're going Kokone." Meiko made it clear.
"Fine." Kokone didn't wanted to do it, but she's doing it for Meiko.
For the record, Len never told Miku about Kaito in last chapter's flashback. He's only finding out about him now. See y'all next time.
