The crowd stared in amazement as the giant block of ice shattered apart as quickly as it had formed in the middle of the arena with Todoroki keeping himself anchored to the ring with ice at his back. On the the opposite side of the ring stood Izuku Midoriya with a dark purple finger slowly bleeding as he grits his teeth feeling the pain and impact of his quirk.
The audience never had a chance to process what was happening as another explosion of ice appeared and once again quickly shattered apart from the explosive force of the green haired boys quirk. For the first time that day. Bowsette was staring at the battle with her jaw hanging in both awe and shock at the display of power infront of her.
How?
How was that green twerp holding back that much strength?! It was basically the definition of overkill.
She did notice his fingers become disgustingly broken after each defensive attack against the ice. But that wasn't what was drawing her attention. What was is the fact that finally it seemed someone was able to take on the son of the pro hero Endeavour.
There was so much happening in the ring. All of it so intense that is had everyone's attention. The visible look of annoyance on Todorokis face at the lack of an easy victory. And the fact that Midoriya wasn't showing any signs of backing down despite the pain he was fighting from his self inflicted injuries.
The two were sharing words to one another as they continued to battle viciously. To the point that some audience and even UA staff members were growing in concern about the two students well being.
None of that was in Bowsettes mind. She was purely focused on the look on Midoriyas face. Between his expression of pain in agony from the use of his quirk which for a moment she found curious. But it was the expression he'd quickly regain after focusing on the situation at hand.
The look of a person driven by passion. Driven by a dream. Driven not to hold back and chase what he wants. Then when he spoke she heard nothing else but his voice that drove home how hard he was willing to fight.
"Everyone here is trying their hardest to reach the top and win today! Yet you're slacking off cause of some pride! It's insulting Todoroki!"
Todoroki gritted his teeth in annoyance "I refuse to use his quirk!"
Midoriya shouted back in a mixture of sadness and what could be described as extremely pissed off. "ITS YOUR QUIRK!!! YOUR QUIRK NOT HIS!!"
That was when the horned blonde caught her self breathing heavily. The scene before was wild and intense. It was now she realised that Midoriya wasn't the simple green twerp she so casually brushed him off as. She could see he had something driving him.
She though her desire and dream to be a hero was unrivalled. But it was clear here she was wrong. The green haired boy was willing to break himself and do it again to chase his dream. That kind of passion... made her heart skip.
Why did her heart skip?
She shook her head for a moment and refocused on the match. It was an intense fight she'd never seen in person before. So it was natural that she might be a little shocked at first. Yeah... yeah that was it. As she chased her goals she will slowly learn to get used to these kinds of things.
All part of training to be a hero... right?
Suddenly she witnesses Todoroki begin to reveal his flames and defrost himself becoming an even greater threat. But she was surprised to see rather then see Midoriya look worried or intimidated by the flames. He instead was smiling.
This green haired mother fucker was actually smiling?
What the actual fucking hell?!
Before she could ponder that thought any longer the two boys charged each other for an ultimate clash in the fight. But the two teachers made a desperate attempt to intervene and stop the attack. Only for a shock wave to throw everyone in sight either back into their seats or back against a wall.
Dust and steam filled the Stadium and slowly began to clear.
Bowsette was out of her seat lean against the edge of her classes selected stand area and was staring down into the ring desperately trying to see what had happened. As the dust settled she found an exhausted and wrecked Todoroki still in the ring held in place by his ice.
Then at the opposite end smashed into a wall. With torn clothes covered in dirt, blood and body parts mangled in dark sickly purple was Midoriya that was clearly outside of the ring.
"Todoroki takes an explosive victory! Midoriya is out of bounds!"
The crowd cheered while majority let out a breath they didn't realise they were holding with Bowsette herself included. She turned and walked out of the stands to catch her breath and clear her head. She'll admit she was disappointed in Midoriyas loss. But now her interest in him had peaked.
She wanted to learn more about him. What's his quirk?, what's he's drive to push as hard as he does? Why does he want to be a hero?
She needed answers to these questions about the boy.
Izuku stared at his bandaged arms in the empty nurses office with a feeling of disappointment overwhelming him. He failed All Might to win the sports festival and announce that 'He was Here!'.
The Number One Hero had reassured him that he was proud of how hard he fought under the circumstances of still trying get a grasp on One For All. But considering the feeling of failure was still fresh in his mind it was still taking him a moment to shake off those negative thoughts.
But once he did he got to his feet and proceeded to leave the office greatful that Recovery Girl healed his legs to allow him to be able to walk at least.
He slowly made his way to the stands where the rest of his classmates sat to watch the fights. He likely took longer then intended but considering that he only just got out of surgery it was fair to play things safe. Especially after the harsh but fair words Recovery Girl gave him about the use of his quirk.
As the One For All inheritor reached the stands he looked out into the arena to see Tokoyami and Dark Shadow on the offensive against the general studies student Bowsette. He mentally cursed himself for missing Iida's fight earlier but that couldn't be helped. He at least be able to see this fight and the rest that would follow.
"Deku?! You're out already?" Asked Ochako slightly bandaged herself after her intense fight with Bakugo.
Izuku nodded "Yeah. Recovery Girl healed me as much as she could without draining my stamina completely. But still got a long way to go." He answered as he shuffled along to take a seat beside the brunette.
"I'm glad to see you've made back Midoriya! I was concerned you'd miss out on seeing the rest of the festival play out!" Declared Iida in his typical arm chopping motion.
"So was I. But I'm here now." Izuku replied as he made himself as comfortable as possible under the circumstances of sitting on a hard seat. Now looking back into the arena he could see Bowsette dodging Dark Shadows attacks by either jumping out of the way, stepping back or retreating into her shell.
It would seem this had been her tactic for majority of the fight because Tokoyami and Dark Shadow recognised her pattern for her way of defence. She was too smart to remain hidden inside her shell for too long because doing so would make her vulnerable to be removed from the ring.
But the moment she popped back out of her shell Dark shadow quickly snatched her up in a tight grip making her shout in surprise "Shit!!"
"Well done Dark Shadow! Now remove her from the ring." Said Tokoyami to his quirk.
Bowsette began to feel herself move in the air towards the rings edge and began to struggle against the shadow beasts grip tryinh desperately to break free. Failing to do so made her huff a breath of fire air in frustration.
The small fire made Dark Shadow flinch slightly for a moment which the blonde exchange student notice. Smirking to herself she let out a deep roar with fire spreading in the air above. Dark shadow quickly let go of the horned girl and retreated back towards tokoyami. The display made the bird headed teen step back in slight fear as his weakness now became exposed.
Bowsette slowly walked towards the teen with her hips swaying with her tail to match its pace which for some reason Izuku felt important to take notes on if he had working arms and his note book. But he quickly shook away that random unexpected thought.
"I should've worked it out sooner. Opposite to darkness is light. So naturally light from a flame is something you boys wouldn't like." Spoke Bowsette getting closer to Tokoyami and Dark Shadow. With each word she spoke flickering out a flame.
With each flame Dark Shadow whined like a scared puppy behind Tokoyamia back. The Class 1A student weighed up his options and sighed knowing how screwed he was from the pure fact his quirk was weak against light and his opponent seemed to have a talent dealing with flame.
With that all in mind he bowed his head "You've defeated me... I yield."
Bowsette stopped mid step in surprise and looked at the boy. "Wait what?"
"Bowsettw Koopa Wins!!!"
The crowd cheered at the battle being over but Bowsette continued to stare at Tokoyami. The boy approached and bowed once more "I had no choice but to accept the lose of this fight. My advantage has been taken away once you discovered it. I hope next time we meet I'll be a worthy opponent." He held his hand towards the American girl.
Bowsette looked at it for a moment and took his hand giving it a firm shake "I'll hold you to that." She replied with a competitive smile.
With that set and done both Bowsette and Izuku wondered who she was going up against next?
All while Bakugo was prepared and ready for his fight against his classmate Kirishima.
