Chapter 167: Sabotage

Sometimes even the smallest doubt can shake the greatest belief.

Recap: Invasion! The planet Cato Neimoidia is under Separatist attack. Anakin Skywalker, his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and their companions Storm and Twilight Sparkle rush to the rescue as they lead a squadron of starfighters to the planet below.

In space, a battle was going on. A series of fighters emerged from the cruiser as Ahsoka and Anakin led the squadron. They attempted to reach the surface and help the citizens below from the Separatist attack. While the pair were doing that, staying behind on the cruiser was Storm.

The Jedi Knight had opted to sit this out, surprising Anakin. The boy told his friend that someone must stay behind and guard the ship, which was half true. In reality, the teen had some thoughts on his mind. Storm watched the ships head toward the planet's surface as his friends led them. He then turned and began to walk away from the bridge. The Jedi was going to his quarters as he needed time to think.

It'd been some time since the incident with Mandalore. And since then, the boy couldn't help but think of what Satine said to him as her final words. It'd been lulling in his mind since then as he often found himself more distracted than usual. Even Luna noticed something was off about her student during their training sessions. Storm just shrugged it off as him having a bad day and left it at that. Though, he doubted that was enough to fool his own mother.

He reached his quarters, sat on his bed, and put his head down. The Jedi was thinking again as many thoughts plagued his mind.

Again, with the thinking? Must you bore me! Your only concern is to follow the orders given to you. Forget the girl; she's a liability.

"I can't just forget, Twilight. I've been with her for so long."

And yet you've been with your Master your whole life. It wasn't until you met this girl that your perspective on everything changed. Your Master is right; you have changed for the worse since meeting the princess. She's poisoned your mind!

"Don't you dare talk about Twilight like that?" stated Storm.

Ha! You amuse me. When you two first met, you couldn't stand the sight of each other. You called her a nerd and that nickname. Nowadays, you address her by her actual name or title. Look at who's really changed. You didn't even know she was royalty until she took you to her home. And even then, her parents despised you.

"My role as her partner is to help her. I can't abandon her. I can't abandon someone in need. Sometimes I wish I could."

And sometimes I wish I could punch in your teeth. Do you want to throw away everything you've worked for up to this point? Do you want to be a disappointment to your Master and mother?

The door to his quarters opened as Twilight stood in the doorway. The girl had been looking for her partner when she noticed he wasn't on the bridge overseeing things. She figured he'd been in his quarters as her hunch was right.

"Hey," said the princess to her partner.

"Hey," responded the Jedi Knight.

"So..." started Twilight as she had her arms behind her back, dwindling her fingers, tracing her foot, and blushing a bit. "You okay?"

"I just... needed to get away."

The girl saw her partner put his head down as she was concerned for him. She approached the teen and sat down with her back turned to him. Neither teen said anything as they sat in silence. Waiting to see what the other might say. Both kept their heads down as the silence filled the room.

"I heard what happened on Mandalore," said Twilight.

"Yeah..."

"I'm sorry she's gone."

"Yeah..."

"Did Satine say any last words?" asked the girl.

"She said... she would always love Obi-wan," stated Storm, the boy choosing not to reveal what the Duchess said to him.

Good job not telling her. You must focus on the task at hand.

"I see," said Twilight as she spoke with Satine and knew the Duchess had feelings for the Jedi Master, but the pair chose to keep their relationship professional.

The princess sighed quietly as the hands in her lap played with themselves. Twilight herself had many things to think about in the past few days. The conversation with Celestia was at the front of her mind. The girl was thinking about her relationship with Storm. She was thinking about her duty and responsibility to her home.

He's an anchor! I'm the wings! I lift you up; he drags you down!

"Storm/Twilight."

The pair spoke and turned their heads in unison as they realized their conundrum. The two smiled nervously as they looked away for a bit. Their hands were on each other as they noticed how close they were. The boy then began to move as he grabbed Twilight's face with his other hand, running his fingers and stroking her cheek as the princess enjoyed his touch. Storm's palm rested across her face, his thumb rubbing her lips. Twilight darted her tongue around a little, flicking at his digit. The teen returned his hand to grab the princess' cheek as he pulled her closer and toward him.

Before they could continue, Storm's comlink began to beep. The pair noticed it as the mood was killed, and the boy returned to being professional and answered the call.

"This is General Storm."

"Storm, we're heading back," said Anakin.

"Already?" asked the boy, thinking Anakin and Ahsoka were still on their mission to help the citizens.

"Change in plans. Master Yoda wants all of us back at the Jedi Temple. There's been a bombing."

The duo gasped when they heard that as they looked at each other.

"Understood. We'll make preparations to leave immediately as you two get back here," stated the boy as he ended the call.

"Someone committed a terrorist attack. Who could successfully bomb the Jedi Temple?" wondered Twilight, knowing how heavily guarded their home was.

"I don't know, Sparky. But we need to get back now," said Storm.

The Jedi Temple was shown as a trail of black smoke still seeping out. The four Jedi were summoned to the Council chamber as they stood before the Council.

"How could the Separatists infiltrate the Temple?" asked Anakin.

"Worse than that it is," stated Yoda.

"What could be worse, Master Yoda?" asked Ahsoka.

Nearly all the Jedi Masters looked among themselves as they shared some looks.

"Everything is on the table," responded Master Windu.

"We have to look at the possibility that it could've been anyone in the Temple, even a Jedi," said Celestia to the four.

"If a Jedi this is, gone to the dark side they have," stated Master Yoda.

"I... I can't believe a Jedi would attack a place this sacred," said Twilight, as the idea of someone making a terrorist attack on a place full of rich history and meaning disgusted her.

"We'd like for you four to lead the investigation. We can't trust anyone who was here, even a Jedi," said Luna as she gave the group their assignments.

"You, Storm, Twilight, and Ahsoka will provide an impartial point of view free of assumptions," stated Celestia as she hoped that by having an unbiased investigation led by the group, they could come to a fair and just conclusion on who was responsible for this attack.

"We'll do everything we can," stated Anakin to the Council.

"Careful you must be, Skywalker. If willing to destroy the Temple the attacker is, to great lengths they will go to keep from being caught," stated Yoda as he warned the group what the attacker could do.

"Then I guess we'll have to go to even greater lengths to catch him. Or her," said Storm, as the attacker could be anyone.

The group then began their investigation as they arrived at the crime scene. Twilight had retrieved her droid as she felt like it could prove useful. They all entered the place as a few other droids scanned the debris. Twilight bent down and removed her backpack as it was her droid. Its limbs and legs popped out and looked at its creator while the others watched them.

"Alright, TS-01. Start scanning for clues. Anything that could prove useful for this mystery." said the princess.

"Affirmative," said the droid as it began to walk away and scan the area.

Storm put his hand out and closed his eyes. The Jedi Knight was looking to use his special talent taught by Luna. He was concentrating and tuning his mind to the Force, looking to see if he could recreate what happened. However, no matter how hard he tried, the teen just couldn't seem to put the image together. It was like something was blocking him from seeing what happened.

"I got nothing. I can't see what actually happened," stated Storm. "But I do hear something."

"So do I," responded Anakin. "I can still hear the screams."

The girls also looked about and let their senses take over, and they heard the same thing as the pair of friends.

"Do you believe what they said, Master, that a Jedi could do this?" asked Ahsoka.

"Not every Jedi agrees with this war, Ahsoka. There are many political idealists among us," said the Jedi Knight to his Padawan.

"But a traitor?" said the girl.

"I'm afraid one can eventually become the other. Remember Count Dooku and General Krell. That's how they started, too." said Anakin to his student.

"And let's not forget Sunset," said Storm, knowing she fell into the same category as those villains. Thought, Twilight had a different expression hearing her partner say that.

"Only analysis and investigation will prove what is true or not," said a droid.

"Who are you?" asked Storm as all the Jedi looked at the robot.

"I am Russo-ISC, Crime Scene Analyzer for the Jedi. I will be working with you all on this case. I was assigned by Master Windu." said the droid.

"Okay, Russo, you, Storm, and Ahsoka should begin the interviews," stated Anakin.

"I would rather interview the witnesses alone."

The Jedi all looked at each other with curious expressions after hearing the response from the droid.

"Why?" asked Ahsoka.

"Many of the wounded have heard rumors a Jedi was behind this explosion. There will be ill will toward you," responded the droid.

"I think you're overexaggerating, Russo. There were Jedi killed in that blast along with maintenance crew and clones," stated Storm, trying to justify their point to the droid about working together.

"Storm. Take Ahsoka with you. Let me know if you find anything."

"I will, Master," said the Padawan to her teacher as she began to leave.

"You gonna be okay with Anakin, Sparky?"

"Don't worry, I got my droid to help us out," said Twilight. "Good luck."

"You too," said Storm, following Ahsoka and the droid.

Twilight looked back at Anakin as the Jedi Knight turned his back to her. He was shown closing his eyes as he looked to use the Force to sense something. The princess and her droid returned to exploring the ruins, hoping to find clues, letting Anakin do his thing.

Storm and Ahsoka made their way to the medbay area as they were looking to get some word from anyone caught in the explosion to uncover clues potentially.

"Did you notice anything unusual about the hangar?" asked the Padawan to a person sitting up.

"Not really. Although, I left the hangar five minutes before the bomb exploded," said the person.

"Did everything seem okay before that?" asked Storm.

"Everything seemed normal," responded the person before looking to his left and right and leaning closer to whisper to the pair. "Is it true a Jedi might be responsible for the attack?"

Both Jedi made faces as they couldn't confidently answer that question.

"We're not certain of anything at this point. But rest assured, we'll find the culprit responsible," stated Storm, giving an answer to avoid any fright in the person as he and Ahsoka walked away.

"This distrust is troubling. Some of these people have worked in the Temple for years," said the girl as they returned to Russo.

"Fear makes even the most trusting individual irrational," responded the droid as it was busy on its tablet.

"I think I know who did it, who blew up the hangar," said a nearby engineer as he was seated against a wall and overheard the Jedi talking.

"Who?" questioned Ahsoka as they approached him.

"I believe it... was Jackar Bowmani," said the engineer as he struggled to remember.

"Jackar Bowmani. Who is Jackar?" asked Ahsoka, as she had no clue who that was.

"One of the maintenance crew in the hangar," responded the engineer.

"Why do you think it was him? You got any proof?" stated Storm.

"I passed him as I was going on my shift change. He... he had been working all morning in the section the blast came from. It was the last place I saw him." said the man.

"Is this him?" asked Russo as the droid turned his tablet around to show the engineer an ID photo of the person he mentioned.

"Yes."

"I need to know, have you seen him since the explosion?" asked the droid.

"No. Truthfully, I didn't see much of anything after the explosion," said the man.

"Thank you," said Ahsoka as she patted the engineer's shoulder before walking away with Storm and the droid.

"Looks like we need to find Jackar Bowmani, Russo," stated the Padawan.

At that moment, Anakin entered the med bay as Twilight was still at the crime scene, searching for clues.

"Did you find anything?" asked Ahsoka.

"No, but the rumor about it being a Jedi is growing, Ahsoka. I can feel the anger and confusion throughout the Jedi Temple," responded Anakin.

Storm closed his eyes for a moment and concentrated. The boy picked up what his friend was saying as it sent shivers along him, which didn't go unnoticed by the girl.

"I feel it too. Well, the good news is we have a lead. We are looking for one of the Temple workers, Jackar Bowmani," stated the boy as Ahsoka showed the photo of the man on her tablet to her teacher.

"One of the witnesses saw him in the area where the bomb exploded right before it happened, and we have not been able to find him anywhere," added Russo.

"Come on. Nobody just disappears," scoffed Anakin as he looked at the photo.

"Unless it was well planned out," countered the droid to the Jedi.

"Well, it had to be well planned out to get past Jedi," stated Storm, as that was the selling point.

"I'll talk to security," said Anakin as he turned and left with the device containing Bowmani's ID, leaving the two to go back and search for more clues.

The explosion caught the news of the people of Coruscant as a massive protest was held outside the Temple. Many people who were friends and families of the victims of the bombing had all gathered together in a rally and were voicing their concerns about the Jedi and the war.

"No more clones! Stop the violence! End the war! Stop the violence!" shouted the crowd of protesters.

Standing on the steps were some Jedi Sentinel guards and Master Cin Drallig, who served as the Temple's head of security. Twilight had caught wind of the shouting from the bombing area; she looked out the window and noticed the massive crowd gathering. Her instincts were telling her that they needed to find the culprit fast. She and her droid couldn't find any new leads as they went to find Anakin. The Jedi Knight bumped into the princess in the hallway as he instructed her to follow him. The pair were now exiting the Temple as they headed toward Master Cin Drallig; however, they couldn't ignore the protest shouting literally down the steps from them.

"They're all family and friends?" asked Anakin to the Jedi Master.

"Yes, looking for answers," responded Master Drallig.

"So am I, Cin," stated Anakin as he showed the Jedi Master and Twilight the ID of the suspect that Ahsoka and Storm seemed to think was responsible. "This is the guy who might be behind all of this. If you see him, alert me immediately."

As Anakin was speaking with the Jedi Master, Twilight looked to the crowd. Their shouting and cries of protest were loud and clear. The girl could only imagine what they must feel, knowing that some lost loved ones in the explosion or were injured by this terrorist attack. The princess sympathized with them until she clenched her head. She grunted as the cries of the protest were affecting her.

The shouts of the protest affected Twilight as she envisioned her people shouting and voicing their opinion about her being the heir to her throne.

"The princess isn't worthy of the throne!"

"She's the heir to a throne of nothing!"

"Equis is doomed with her as ruler!"

"She'll bring ruin to our home!"

"She brings shame to her family and ancestors!"

"Anarchy! Anarchy! Anarchy! Down with Princess Twilight! Unfit to rule Equis!" chanted the voices in her head.

The girl clutched her head with both hands as she tried to drown out the voices, but they were too much.

"No. No. No!" shouted Twilight.

The Jedi Knight pulled herself out and returned to reality as it slowly faded. She looked at her hands as they shook, knowing the Force was toying with her emotions. The princess's father's words about the gossip mongers on Equis who were out there talking about how she was unfit to become Queen due to her not even being around was the biggest mistake ever. Twilight was the black sheep that would bring misfortune and chaos out of her entire bloodline family and legacy. She was the one that would kill her dynasty the moment she took the throne. She was... the weak link. She'd disgrace everything her ancestors did before her; all their work would be tossed away because of her.

Twilight felt it affecting her as she recalled her father's words during the wedding incident when he scolded her and how she behaved. Even going so far as to yell at her for being a disobedient daughter and disappointing her parents.

But one weak link can break the chain of a mighty dynasty!

"That is Jackar," said a woman as she stepped from the crowd, noticing the hologram ID Anakin was showing Master Cin Drallig. That got the attention of the Jedi Knight and the princess.

"You know this man?" asked Anakin.

"He is my husband. I've been trying to reach him since I heard of an explosion. Where is he?" asked the woman.

"I need you to come with me," instructed the Jedi Knight.

The woman looked about before walking up the stairs to follow Anakin. Twilight gave one last look out to the crowd as her voices of protest began to return; the girl clutched her head and shook it to stop them before following the pair inside.

"You have no idea where Jackar is?" asked the woman as she was in a dark room with the pair.

"No," responded Anakin.

"You two are a Jedi, and you cannot find him?" stated the woman.

"We understand your frustration..."

"Don't. Just find Jackar," said the woman, as she didn't want to hear what Twilight had to say.

"Letta, do you think Jackar could do something like this, blow up the Temple?" asked Anakin as they sat.

"Do you have any idea what someone has to go through to work in the Jedi Temple, hm? Jackar dedicated his life to serve the Jedi. It had been his dream. Not just anyone can walk into your precious Temple. He passed all the entry tests that were needed." stated Letta.

"Okay, I had to ask," said Anakin. "Unfortunately, everyone's a suspect."

"Jackar would never do anything like this. Please, find him."

Storm and Ahsoka were with Russo while looking at a hologram recreator that showed what happened when the explosion occurred. They were looking at the recreated crime scene to see if there were any clues that they could have missed. The droid was at the console while the two Jedi walked about the hologram and looked at it. Holograms of small info popped out at certain things.

"Hmm... based on the trajectory of the debris, it seems the blast came from there," said Ahsoka as she pinpointed the location.

Storm walked over to the location and looked at the ground. The boy was looking to see if any marks or scorches were left from the explosion, but to his surprise, there were none.

"Nothing. No marks of any sort."

"Why is there no bomb residue?" asked the droid.

"Maybe because the bomb isn't a bomb," answered Storm as he got up from bending to look at the pair.

"What? That doesn't make any sense," stated Ahsoka, confused by what her friend said.

"A bomb's not a bomb if it's a misfire," responded Storm as he looked about the hologram display. "Typically, when a bomb explodes, it leaves behind a crater of some sort. None where it came from. That said, it meant the bomb wasn't on the ground but off it. My guess... maybe it was being transported, and it went off. Perhaps... a ship."

"So you think whoever did this triggered a ship to explode?" said Anakin as he and Twilight appeared and repeated what Storm said to get a better sense of what he just explained of his deduction.

"We think so. Russo's trying to use the shrapnel to determine that now," said Ahsoka to her teacher as she touched the tablet in her hands. "The witness says he saw Jackar in the area. Maybe Jackar planned to do this and just kept quiet."

"Tell that to his wife. She doesn't believe he could do this," said Twilight.

"Well, what other explanation do we have?" stated Storm.

The four Jedi all put their heads down to think.

"Hmm. Or..."

"It actually was a Jedi," said Ahsoka as she finished her Master's train of thought.

"I found something, an anomaly, something that should not be here," stated Russo as he got the attention of the Jedi. He began to walk and touch the tablet he was holding as the hologram scene played out; they arrived at a piece of metal with tons of small clue marks on them. They enhanced to reveal something. "These pieces came from the blast origin. They are covered with microscopic droids of a highly volatile nature."

"Nano-droids," said Twilight, knowing her planet used them in various degrees of fields.

"Yes, nano-droids," confirmed Russo.

"Great. Now we're chasing nano-droids," groaned Ahsoka as this investigation just got harder.

"Russo, go through the security footage. Try to see if Jackar went to other parts of the Temple," instructed Anakin to the droid. "Meanwhile, let's go find out how Jackar got his hands on these nano-droids."

The four Jedi began to leave as they exited the room. They arrived at a room where smaller droids were hard at work. One of them handed Anakin and Storm a file.

"Bowmani's file, Master Jedi."

"He's a munitions expert," said Ahsoka as she looked at the file and read some of it.

"Jackar was the foreman over all of the gunships, bombs, and weapons," said Anakin as he walked with the tablet.

"His specialty was nano-weaponry," said Twilight as she looked over Storm's shoulder to read the file he had on his tablet.

"Looks like we've got to find this guy," said Storm.

The four Jedi walked to where Russo was as the droid looked at multiple camera screens as he was zooming past all the footage in seconds.

"Isn't that going a little too fast for you to make sense out of it?" asked Anakin as he felt the droid might miss something by merely fast-forwarding all the footage.

"It is simple data. At this pace, I am able to view hundreds of hours of footage," said Russo, as he took pride in that.

"My droid can do ten times that amount," whispered Twilight with a small smile as the pair chuckled, though Russo took offense that the princess made a droid much smaller than him and could do his job more efficiently, and she built it all from scratch.

"Have you found Jackar?" asked Anakin.

"No," responded the droid as he lifted his vizor up.

"I'll gather some Jedi and search the Temple. If he's still here, he might be planning another attack," stated Anakin.

"Instead of Jedi, I have droids that can do the job much faster," stated Russo as Ahsoka was onboard for that plan. The four Jedi left as Russo told his little comrades to begin their search.

The group was now back in the Council room, as all the Jedi Masters had wanted an update on the investigation.

"So you've found nothing so far?" asked Celestia to the ground.

"We have a clue we're following," answered Ahsoka.

"But we still don't have answers," said Anakin.

All the Jedi Masters looked at each other with concerned expressions. They had hoped the group would have a defiant lead over just some maybes by now.

"It is imperative that the truth be found soon," said Master Windu, reminding the group of how serious this matter was.

"There are whispers the Senate will have a meeting to decide whether the military police will need to become involved in the investigation," said Luna to the group of the rumors going about from the locals.

"They can't do that!" said Ahsoka as Anakin made a face at her for speaking out of turn.

"Clones died in that explosion, maintenance clones working on the gunships as well as civilians," explained Windu to the Padawan as he leaned forward.

"The Senate tends to take notice of these things no matter where they happen," chimed in Celestia.

Just then, Anakin's comlink began to beep as he answered it.

"Master Skywalker, we have found Jackar," said Russo.

"Lock down all exits so he can't escape," ordered Anakin as he ended the call.

The group bowed before the Jedi Council before leaving to deal with the matter. The Jedi Masters all looked at each other with concerned expressions. Celestia and Luna, the two sisters, leaned back in their chairs and began to think about their respective apprentices.

The group arrived at the location to meet Russo; the door opened, and the droid turned to see the Jedi.

"Well. Where is he?" asked Storm.

"Well, part of him is here," responded the droid.

"Huh?" said Twilight as she spoke for everyone when Russo responded.

"I don't think now is a good time to joke," stated Anakin.

"This is all that remains of Jackar," said Russo as he led the group to a single hand on a table.

"His hand?" said Storm.

"The rest of him exploded," said the droid.

"Because he was so close to the bomb?" asked Twilight.

"Because he was the bomb," said the droid as he showed something to the group.

"What's this?" asked Anakin.

"The connection we were looking for to the explosion in the hangar," said Russo as he handed the device to Ahsoka to view while he scanned the hand.

"The nano-droids," said Ahsoka as she saw the hand coated with them. Which confirmed Russo's theory that Jackar was indeed the bomb. "Looks like you were right, Storm. A bomb's not a bomb if it's a misfire."

"How did they get in his bloodstream?" wondered Twilight, seeing that was hard, even with technology. And she should know based on her experience.

"Oh, this just keeps getting better and better," groaned Storm as he hated that he was right with his assumption.

"We're going to have to search Jackar's home for evidence," stated Anakin.

The Jedi were heading toward the home of Jackar as they hoped to close the case on this terrorist attack. They arrived at his home, which wasn't the most pleasant of neighborhoods.

"This is not the nicest place," noted Anakin as they entered the apartment.

"I would've thought working for the Jedi paid better," said Ahsoka.

"What do you pay your workers, Sparky?" asked Storm, wondering how Twilight's family handled their servants' pay.

"A lot better than this," stated the princess.

Anakin did a simple knock on the door, hoping to get an answer, but didn't. He used the Force to make the lock on it unlock as the door slid open. The group proceeded cautiously.

"Letta? Are you here?" called out Storm, hoping for the woman's answer, but got nothing. It seemed like she wasn't home.

"You two search for the droids, but be careful, and remember, he was a munitions expert. I'd rather not set off another explosion today," stated Anakin to the two girls as they began to fiddle on their tablets.

"We'll see if he left a note," whispered Storm as he and Anakin began to search the place.

The girls held a scanner in one hand as they moved it about the room. They constantly looked at the tablets in their other hand to see if they could spot any traces of nano droids. Their search led them in opposite directions as they each took a different part of the home.

Ahsoka went down a hallway as she tried to turn on the light switch to get some vision, but the light didn't seem to work. She pressed on with the scanner and tried to see in the dimly lit environment. She came to the end of a hall down to her right; the light above came on as she looked down that way before walking and scanning. In the meantime, Storm and Anakin were still in the living room/entrance of the home as they searched high and low for anything but couldn't find anything.

Ahsoka approached the end of the lit hallway as she approached a door. She opened it, and the inside was dark.

"Letta?" called out the Padawan, seeing if the woman was inside.

No response, and she walked in. She kept following her scanner. At the same time, Storm and Anakin began to hear something as they looked at a nearby table. A beeping was heard as Ahsoka was honing in on something; her scanner began to beep, also. The pair in the living room noticed a device as a hologram of a clone helmet crossed out appeared just as Ahsoka's scanner went crazy!

"Master!" called out the Padawan.

In a flash, all three Jedi Knights stood in the doorway of the room the Padwan was in.

"The sensors are picking up traces from the disposal," said Ahsoka as she showed off her tablet to the others.

Twilight put her scanner to where Ahsoka's was pointed, and her tablet began to fill up with tons of the nano droids to confirm her discovery.

"The nano-droids were in the food. Interesting," said the princess.

"Well, I guess the question now is, did he eat them willingly, or did someone feed them to him?" said Storm.

"Wh-what are you doing here?"

As they turned, a voice was heard from behind the Jedi, which was revealed to be Letta. The woman was surprised to see the Jedi in her home.

"We've learned Jackar was involved in the bombing," said Anakin to the woman.

"That can't be true," said Letta as she couldn't believe what the Jedi said about her husband.

"See if she has any nano-droids on her, girls," ordered Storm.

"Nanodroids?" said Letta.

The girls ran their scanners about Letta as their screens showed nothing but green marks.

"She's clean," confirmed Twilight.

"What do you mean, "nano-droids"?" asked Letta.

"We believe someone set Jackar up and made him the bomb," explained Ahsoka.

"I... I don't understand."

"Letta, I want to bring you in for more questioning. Maybe you can help us make sense out of all of this," said Anakin.

"I'll answer any question I can," responded the widower.

The Jedi were leading her out of her apartment. As they were exiting her home, Letta noticed someone passing by. Once they were in her line of sight, she grabbed the bystander and threw him into Ahsoka and Twilight before taking off.

"Letta, stop," shouted Anakin.

"Letta!" shouted Storm.

They saw her get onto a passing trolley, but when it passed by them, she wasn't there. The owner pointed forward as there was another trolley going up, and on it was Letta trying to pull herself on the roof.

"Letta," shouted Storm as he began to chase down her.

"You two take the high road," instructed Anakin to the girls as he proceeded on foot with Storm.

"Right, Master," said Ahsoka, and she and Twilight jumped and began to give chase from the air.

The woman was still on the trolley as she looked about to see the Jedi chasing her from up top and on the ground. Ahsoka and Twilight jumped onto a walkway above the railing the trolley was on as they ran. Letta noticed another trolley passing by, and she quickly jumped on it to deceive the Jedi. The trolley set down and allowed her to jump off as she looked behind to see the Jedi weren't following her. She began to walk down the alley when before her, on some crates, were the girls as they jumped down in front of her.

"Letta, stop!" declared Ahsoka.

The woman looked to turn the other way as Storm and Anakin appeared, trapping her.

"Let me go," said Letta.

"Running means you know more than you're telling us," deducted Twilight as she and Ahsoka jumped and stood on her other side.

"Jackar is dead, and now you're trying to blame his murder on me."

"Nobody ever said he was dead," said Anakin as Letta gasped, knowing she had just walked into the Jedi's hand.

"But running proves you had something to do with the bomb," glared Ahsoka.

"You don't know what you're talking about," denied Letta.

"People blamed Jedi because of you. People were killed because of you!" exclaimed Ahsoka as she pointed at her.

"You can't prove anything."

"Did you feed the nano-droids to Jackar? You will answer me. Now!" yelled Anakin as all four Jedi glared at her.

"I did feed the nano-droids to Jackar," sighed Letta as she confessed.

"You set up your own husband to die?" said Twilight as she was in disbelief that someone's spouse would do that to their significant other.

"You're dealing with things you don't understand," responded Letta to the Jedi.

"Oh, where you're going, you'll have plenty of time to explain everything," said Ahsoka as she put her hand on Letta's shoulder and began to follow Anakin and Storm, leading her away.

After returning to the Jedi Temple, the group informed the Jedi Council of their investigation. They were all walking in the hallway alongside Master Yoda, Windu, Luna, and Celestia.

"We're holding Letta in the cell below the temple to await further questioning," said Storm to the Jedi Masters. Ahsoka received a call; she answered it while walking with the other Jedi so they could all listen to it.

"I am pleased to report there were no other nano-droids found in the sweep of the Temple. I am also pleased to report, based on the security footage, Jackar Bowmani acted alone, which means no Jedi was involved."

"Thanks, Russo. Good job," said Ahsoka as she ended the call from the droid.

"Did this woman say what her reasons were for attacking us?" asked Windu to the group.

"Not yet, but we're working on that," informed Twilight.

"I think we can guess her motives easily enough," stated Luna. "Public opinion is swaying against the Jedi. That is becoming clear."

The words spoken by the Jedi Master got all three Jedi Knights and Padawan to think. Especially Twilight, as she recalled the protests she and Anakin witnessed the other day.

"This war is becoming less and less popular every day it persists," said Celestia, as one could hear the tiredness in her voice, indicating that she understood where the people were coming from.

The four Jedi Masters began to walk away, as Luna and Celestia each gave their students a small smile to show they were proud of them for solving this case. The two teens smiled back at their respective Masters before joining up with Ahsoka and Anakin as they began to discuss.

"Master, I'm relieved we solved this case, but..."

"What if it had been a Jedi?" said Anakin as he finished his Padawan's train of thought.

"Yes," confirmed Ahsoka.

"You're kidding me. Why would someone do that? Why betray the Order?" said Storm as he couldn't believe they were considering a scenario like that.

"I don't know how I would have felt if a Jedi was really behind this."

"There are going to be Jedi who disappoint us, Ahsoka. But as long as we know there are good Jedi who fight for what's right, it makes it all worthwhile," said Anakin to his student to ease her worries.

"For now, let's hope things can finally be normal," said Storm as they all began to walk forward; they had a eulogy to attend to for all the Jedi killed in the explosion.
