A world without Bart

Second chapter: Changes

— Yeah, that's it, eat my shorts, replied Bart, who had regained a little aplomb.

- You'll see, boy, you'll see. The man displayed an enigmatic smile.

Bart did not feel very reassured, and preferred to leave. As he was walking down the street, a car almost splashed him.

- Learn to drive, you fat bastard, Bart threw him. But the vehicle had already restarted.

It was then that Bart had the fright of his life. A big dog rushed up to him and he thought he was going to shred him. It reminded him of a rather painful episode, some time ago. However, the dog crossed it without even touching it.

- What? Said Bart, he couldn't miss me, it's not possible.

- So, boy?

The same man was standing in front of him. This time, Bart seemed much less sure of himself.

- The dog, how did he avoid me?

- You were never born, boy.

The character had moved closer to him.

- Don't be afraid, this is just the beginning.

Chapter 3: A life without him.

Bart did not believe in the words made by the enigmatic character at all. However, he had to admit that it was very strange, he was walking through the streets like a ghost.

Driven by curiosity, he decided to approach 742 Evergreen Terrace. But what he saw chilled his blood.

It was Marge, her mother. She was not wearing her usual appearance. The house was certainly flashy, but Marge had... A different expression.

Bart watched her, she was focused on her computer.

- What does that mean? He muttered to himself.
— The true truth, replied the enigmatic character.

This one had just materialized at his side.

- You don't exist, Bart. Your mother doesn't have to watch you all the time.

- But... What about Lisa, and Maggie, and Homer?

Lisa then made her appearance. Bart almost spat out his guts.

Her usually reserved sister had become a kind of rotten spoiled little plague. Without even a hello for her mother, she went to the fridge, took out some meat and made herself a sandwich.

- Wow, wait, man, this is pure delirium. Lisa is a vegetarian.

- Not in this life. See, Bart, you don't exist. So, Homer and Marge only had Lisa. Homer had no one to really support him in the face of the female clan. He and Marge did not have another child. But they ended up divorcing.

Oh, don't worry about Marge, she quickly started her life over with another man.

Bart felt a lump start in his throat. What other man? Artie Ziff? Ned Flanders?
- Hey, Marge!

Bart had not finished having surprises throughout the day.

- And yes, it's him.

Lenny.

Finally, another version. He had a ponytail and wore a little more chic clothes. His beard didn't exist either.

— I have good news, the stocks of...

Bart was already not listening anymore.

Lisa suddenly came like a fury from the stairs.

- Put it on the back burner, you assholes. I'm trying to work.

- Lisa, you're talking to us in a different tone.

- You're not my dad, you dirty hipster.

- Now, I admit that I don't really understand.

— I'll explain to you, says the enigmatic character.

Marge very quickly wanted to do something with her life. She looked for a job, and then, Lenny was alone too. So, they wrote to each other, and today they are together. Only with an absent father, and a mother preoccupied with her job, Lisa no longer had anyone to share her passions with. So, she decided to stop everything. Oh, of course, her mother and stepfather covered her with toys and gifts. So, now she's enjoying it. Needless to say, his interest in science is now a distant memory.

- But, what about Milhouse?

The enigmatic character then led him to a cemetery. There was no one there, except for the two of them. Bart looked at the different graves and was surprised to find that of the one who was once his friend. Next door were those of Abe Simpson as well as Moe and Barney.

- Milhouse had no one to help her cope with Lisa's rejection. He ended up having a breakdown. Her parents moved out.

- Why did the others die?

The angel then showed him through a sphere the fate of Homer. This one sported a magnificent haircut and seemed happy. We could see that he had won many awards, those of the "Bachelor of the Year".

- Why did you leave? Why?

However, Homer couldn't stop crying while contemplating Marge's photo.

- He tried to forget about Marge, but he never got there. He spends his time crying every night now.

And then, it was Homer and Barney who supplied Moe's tavern. Lenny and Carl only went there to accompany them. So, Barney ended up doing one too many stupid things. Homer wasn't there to stop him And without a regular customer, Moe went bankrupt.

- Homer doesn't work at the power plant anymore?

- No, he ended up being fired the day Mr. Burns was looking for an heir. He was the only father of a family who did not have a son. So, he got into various reality shows. Now that I think about it, that's pretty much where her marriage went down. No one went to see Abe, who is dead.

With the help of spheres, the enigmatic character continued to speak.

- You don't know everything, Bart. In your absence, Ned Flanders has not been able to continue teaching. He ended up joining a cult, along with his sons. Krusty the clown was arrested and no one has ever reconciled him with his father. Tahiti Bob is in charge of the show. Principal Skinner was fired anyway, not because of you and your dog, but because of Ralph and his. He could not rejoin the army, today he runs a supermarket. It's Chalmers who runs the school now. Carl meanwhile has not reconciled...

- Wait, what does this have to do with Carl?

- Bart, you and Lisa never became brothers and sisters. There has never been a Ki Ya exhibition, never had a probability museum, never had a lottery ticket...

And even your dog has never been adopted.

Bart was sick of it.

— I want to live, he declared to the enigmatic character.

The latter snapped his fingers.

In an instant, Bart was back at his starting point, happy to be alive.

Of course, when he got home, his mother would scold him, his father might be getting drunk at Moe's. Lisa would be-maybe participating in scientific projects. But who cares since he was alive!
