Chapter 9

I was walking in the woods, just to clear my head. My mind has been bussing lately that just getting away from everything for a little bit and just having time for me is the best thing that I could ask for. I walked past some wild flowers, their saints made me smile. "How wonderful."

I sat down on the ground, so I was surrounded by flowers. I place a hand on my about 6 month pregnant belly. "You will soon be here my love." I smiled and as I did a wind gust picked up. I breathed in the saints and that was when I smelt someone close by. "Too late too." It was Chase who walked out of the bushes.

"Oh, I thought that I was you, Kayla." He smiled and reached out his hand to help me up. I shook my head. "Fine." He shrugged his shoulders. "So, what are you doing out here?"

I smile, "Just to clear my head." The wind blows again, Chase's nose twitches and he looks right at me.

He looks at me in disbelief. I nod my head with a smile and a hand on my stomach. Out of no were, Chase picks me up, spins me around and hugs me. "I'm so happy for you and Dylan." He says as he notices what he did and sets me back down. "Sorry."

I chuckled and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't be." I place my other hand on his check. "You will always be my friend." Just then I smiled, two tall young men walked out of the woods. Chase looked at them, "What's going on here?" The brown haired, gray eared man asked. "Do I need to get Alpha Chase?" The dirty blonde haired, beige eared man asked.

"No Hunter we don't and Walker I just ran into her. She's an old friend." Hunter and Walker looked at each other and then back at me. "You're the Alpha of Snow Wood pack?" I glare at the one known as Hunter. "Yes, why does it matter?" I put my hands on my hips. He walks right up to me so he looks down to me.

Chase was about to say something when I looked at him, "If you lay a hand on me." I look at the tall male wolf in front of me. "You will feel the wrath of every elder wolf in a hundred miles." I smile as his smile fades. "Not just because I am an alpha." He starts to back away from me because of the imitating atmosfield between us. I place my hands on my stomach. "Because I am carrying the next generation."

The two men looked at me and Chase. "Now leave!" I bear my teeth at them, they back off and turn then walk back into the forest. Chase looked at me, "I have to leave too, Kayla." I look at him as walks to the tree line. "Till we meet again." He disappeared into the woods.

I started to cry as I fell to my knees. "Jason." I sighed as tears fell from my cheeks. "What's wrong Kay?" I heard Jason's voice sound in my head. "Meet me in my flower field please." I didn't hear a replay, so I sat there in the wild flowers letting the tears fall.

After what seemed to be 45 minutes, I heard a whimper come from behind me. "Jason?" I heard the sound of someone walking over to the clearing. I was about to get to my feet when I caught a familiar scent. "I'm here." Jason walked out of the woods, walked straight to me and hugged me.

I hung onto him and he just hugged me tighter. "What happened?" I told Jason everything, and his exasperation changed from concern to protective. "You have everyone to protect you and." He hugs me. "I have a feeling that Chase is protecting you from his own pack." I look at my best friend.

"I hope that your feeling is the right one."
