This story takes place before Mortal Kombat 9

Cool weather, lovely nature sounds, and leaves rustling in the breeze. Kung Lao was up at 5:45 a.m. and ready for his morning run. He's been living in peace since the end of Mortal Kombat and his house was located on a hill not far from the Shaolin Temple. Few people knew where Kung Lao lived and only a few were welcomed to his home, he preferred it that way.

Kung Lao was never concerned by living alone. He enjoyed the sense of calm and balance it provided. Furthermore, he was never truly alone. Arthur, his pet rabbit, was an excellent buddy.

When the Shaolin monk concluded his morning run, the sun began to rise. Walking to his mailbox, he spotted a letter on his porch. Lao, intrigued, took the note and went inside.

"Look Arthur, a letter," Kung Lao exclaimed as he shut his front door and opened the mail. "YOUR INVITATION!"

"Invitation?" Kung Lao murmurs. "Huh?" The Shaolin monk hurriedly opened the letter, anxious to see what he had been "invited to".

When he finally opened the letter, it said, "Dear Kung Lao, The time has come to rebuild the Mortal Kombat franchise, and we would like to invite you to take part in the recreation/film of Mortal Kombat 9. Many of your old pals will be appearing in this film, and we'd like to offer you a part. If you are interested, please call and let us know by 02/02/10 for more details. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much." Behind the letter was a phone number and a signature by the Elder Gods.

"What the hell? What is Mortal Kombat 9? This cannot be true." The befuddled monk couldn't comprehend why a film based on historical events was being made. Since then, everyone has moved on. Have they?

"Hmmm, if this is true, Liu Kang must have also received a letter." "I'll call him and find out." Kung Lao, reasoned. The Mortal Kombat champion answered after a few rings.

"Hey Kung, good to hear from you, how have you been?" Liu kang was overjoyed.

"I'm great, Liu, and how about you?"

"Better than ever before, buddy"

"That's great to hear; I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I was calling about an invitation I received for a Mortal Kombat recreation?" Anyway, I was wondering whether you did as well."

"I did!" I noticed it on my door and brought it inside. I'm delighted you got an invite, friend, since not many people do."

"Really? So this is true?"

"Oh, yes!" Deadline is the following week. "Are you going?"

"I didn't intend it, but..."

"Wouldn't that be cool?" Not only will we be paid, but it will be good to visit old friends and catch up. I hope to see Kitana there. I haven't seen her since the breakup, but you should seriously consider it, Kung. You might meet someone new and forget about Tanya."

"Liu, I told you Tanya and I are no longer together. "We're just friends."

"Yeah, the amount of time she's at your place is more like fuck buddies." Liu Kang exclaimed, laughing.

"Anyway, I believe you should come and see your old friend. Raiden already contacted them and confirmed his spot, I'll have to do the same so I'll catch you later buddy."

Kung Lao shook his head in surprise after that phone conversation. "Huh… Mortal Kombat 9... We shall see."

Lao considered attending the Mortal Kombat franchise while conducting errands throughout the day. It began to rain as he headed home from a long day of training with the prospective monks.

Kung Lao dashed inside before the rain caught up with him, and after welcoming his pet, he headed straight into the bathroom for a shower. When the Shaolin monk had finished his baths and was getting ready for bed, he heard a knock on his door.

"Who is it?" yelled Lao, waiting for this unknown person behind the door to respond.

"It's me now open up. It's pouring and freezing outside."

Kung Lao recognized the voice right away and opened the door to welcome this unexpected visitor into his home.

"Hey, I didn't realize you were coming. If I had known, I could have brewed your favorite tea," Lao stated as he assisted the mysterious individual with their coat.

"It's okay, Kung, I just came by to keep you company."

Kung Lao answered with laughter. "Yeah, Tanya, I need company, huh?"

"All right, fine." I was bored and wanted to check in with you; I was hoping we could spend time together, maybe go exploring?" Tanya flirtatiously said as she removed her extra layer of clothing.

"I like the sound of exploring. If you like, I can assist you with those layers." The Shaolin monk eagerly responded.

"I've got it, hun. Would you mind if I used your restroom to refreshen up?"

"Don't worry, it's all yours."

Tanya then entered Kung Lao's bedroom, where the bathroom was located, and shut the door.

"By the Elders Gods help me," Lao said to himself as he examined the Edenian body.

Kung Lao saw that his bond to her was unhealthy and needed to be broken. But it was difficult for him to do so, especially because the women approached him with sexual intentions and desires.

"No, I can no longer continue, I will end this situation-ship. This isn't right, and it's simply making us more tied to each other; it's time to let go." Kung said confidently to himself.

After a few minutes of thinking he approached his bedroom door, intending to inform Tanya that he was no longer interested in their "hook up sessions." He didn't want to accept it, but this toxic relationship was preventing him from meeting new people. He felt like he'd never be able to really commit to a relationship if he kept messing around with Tanya.

Kung Lao gently knocked on the door, waiting for Tanya to respond.

"Yes, please come in," Tanya whispered slowly, moaning.

Confused, Lao gently opened the door and felt his penis harden as a result of what he saw.

Tanya was masturbating on his bed, her legs open. She was sighing slowly and looking Kung Lao in the eyes.

Kung Lao gently approached her and dropped to his knees, like a zombie. Tanya's womanhood was so close to his face that he could see how wet she was. He drew his grip on her hips closer, and his lips made contact with the Edenian Vagina. He was now devouring her and savoring her nectar.

Tanya moaned loudly, delighted that the monk was meeting her desires. After a few minutes, Lao removed his shirt and climbed on top of her, approaching her lips for a kiss. Tanya became aware of this and gently pushed his head down to her breast instead. Kung Lao was unbothered. All he wanted to do was fulfill and make love to her however she desired. Tanya began yanking his pants off in an attempt to strip him naked. While sucking on her breast, the Shaolin monk assisted her with this.

Tanya couldn't wait to get him inside her now that his clothes were off. Even though she didn't want to stay with him any longer, he was still the best sexual partner she'd ever had. His penis was certainly one of the largest, measuring 8 inches in length.

Both former lovers began to moan as soon as Lao penetrated Tanya. They both knew what they were doing was wrong deep down. Having sex without making a commitment was a risky game to play, especially since they were no longer romantically attached.

The two began to achieve their climax after a few long thrusts. Tanya began to moan Kung Lao's name aloud as her climax approached. Hearing this accelerated Kung Lao's penetration. He emptied his sperm into his former partner with one final stroke. Tanya felt his seed rush inside her, which eventually drew her to the climax as well.

Moments passed while both parties tried to catch their breath. Lao was tempted to passionately kiss Tanya to express his appreciation for her and the love they once shared, but he opted against it knowing that she would not be interested in sharing lips with him.

She got what she wanted and knew she had no desire to romantically enhance their encounter. As a result, he rolled off of her without kissing and lay next to the golden-skinned Edenian.

"Kung, what did I say about kissing while we're having sex?" Tanya questioned.

"Yeah, I know, it's my bad habit." Kung Lao replied by sitting up. "Would you like something to drink, like water?"

"Yeah, I'll take one." If you don't mind, I'm going to take a shower." Tanya stated

"Not at all, go ahead, I'll take a shower after you're finished."

The Edenian stood up and entered the restroom, closing the door behind her.

Sighing, Lao stood up, re-applied his underpants, and went into the kitchen to fetch a glass of water. While he was there, he took one more look at the Mortal Kombat invitation and brought it into his room.

Kung Lao sat on the side of his bed, rereading the note word for word, still debating whether or not to go.

"What exactly are you reading?" Tanya inquired. Looking up, Kung Lao noticed Tanya, fresh out of the shower, staring at him.

"I was invited to participate in this Mortal Kombat film creation thing." They said the deadline is next week, and I'm not sure if I want to go."

"Invitation?" That seems fun. Let me see it." Tanya read the note while the towel was still wrapped around her.

"Huh. You should absolutely go. I would have if I had received an invitation, but happily you did. Go check it out, and if you don't like it, simply decline the offer." Tanya proposed.

"Sighing Kung Lao returned the note and placed it in his drawer. You're right, I'll look into it." Lao responded

"By the way, Kung, we really need to talk."

"Of course anything," he replied.

Tanya spoke as she dressed in the previous outfit she was wearing.

"We can't keep connecting. This must be the last time we do something like this. It's not good for any of us."

He was both surprised and relieved. Lao concurred with a nod. "I understand. You're right, it's not helping. We're essentially utilizing each other's bodies to satisfy ourselves. I'm as eager to put a stop to this as you are."

"Great, so we're on the same page; I expected this to be more difficult than our breakup, but you're handling it pretty well, Kung."

"Don't get me wrong." Even though we split up a a couple months ago, I still have feelings for you. But I really want to move on, and having sex together doesn't help me with that." Lao recalled Tanya telling him that they were only having sex and not making love when the hookup sessions began.

"Look what we had was real and you can say "making love" I was an ass asking you not to refer to our sexual interactions that way. I know deep down that we love each other and that it will never fade. I apologize for avoiding your kiss earlier. "Please come here."

Even though Tanya knew she wasn't interested in Lao anymore, she felt guilty for continuously pushing him away whenever he attempted to demonstrate his love for her. She truly desired for them to be friends with benefits, but she knew Lao couldn't separate the two. She gave him a slow passionate kiss on his lips while softly touching his cheek.

Tanya kissing the monk made him fall even more in love with her. He wanted to beg Tanya for a second opportunity, but he felt his luck was running out. Kung Lao stared into her eyes and kissed her on the forehead after that kiss. He said softly, "I have to let you go, love."

Tanya's heart sank as she embraced him. Kung Lao was an outstanding companion physically, mentally, and emotionally, and she loved him deeply. But she couldn't be with him and still have the desire to want to date other men.

After a Kung Lao shower, the former couple agreed to spend one more night together before calling it quits on this situation.

Kung Lao awoke at his customary hour the next morning to find Tanya sleeping alongside him. He touched her hair tenderly before changing into his running attire for his morning runs.

When he was finished, the Sun rose as usual, and he strolled into his house, straight to his bedroom, where Tanya was still sleeping. He crept into the restroom to take a shower.

The Edenian was sitting up, rubbing her weary eyes, when he came out.

"Good morning," Lao said. "I was expecting you to wake up. I thought you may like brunch at the Lotus Cafe today."

"No it's ok; I think I'll go home." I had a terrific time last night."

Lao responded while putting on his clothing. "I feel the same way." I was just thinking... maybe we should just spend time together? as friends of course."

"I don't think that's a good idea; I said I'd never do this again," Tanya responded. "Kung, we both know that remaining friends will never work. I wanted to say something like this last night but couldn't. So I'll simply say it now. I believe it is best if we simply cease speaking in general. We require more space." Tanya said as she put on her shoes and walked to the front door of Kung Lao house.

Lao followed his old partner and stared in wonder at her. "Is that really what you want?" To simply cease communicating? I can give you the space you need, but I think it's insane to cease communicating."

"I didn't mean it that way, Kung. "I honestly have no idea what I want."

The Shaolin monk reacted by shaking his head. "You've been saying this throughout our relationship. I require someone who is clear about what they desire. If you wish to discontinue communication, that is fine, but I will not be waiting for you."

"I understand; I'm not asking you to." Tanya commented as she placed her hand on the front door knob. And with that, she turned the handle, opened his front door, only to witness Liu Kang approaching the former pair.

"Heyyy Tanya, I'm surprised to see you here!" Liu Kang chuckled as he looked at his best friend.

"What were you two doing?" He inquired.

Tanya remarked regretfully as she walked by the Mortal Kombat champion, "Nothing, I was just leaving."

Liu Kang looked at his pal, perplexed. "What exactly did you do?" "Did she not finish or what?" He cracked a joke.

"No, Come inside, it's a long story." Kung lao answered

"Oh, I see what happened. "You came inside her didnt you." While walking inside the monk's residence, Liu Kang responded. "You know, Kung, most females prefer you to..."

"What? No. It's the same issue we've been battling about since we first met. Liu, I'm done with her. She doesn't know what she wants, and I can't keep waiting for her to figure it out."

"Oh, she's still thinking about being with you?"

"Yeah, but that's fine; we've officially decided to stop communicating; it's better for both of us."

"I agree with you. Prioritize yourself. Who knows, you might meet someone new at the event."

"Event? Oh, you're referring to the film reproduction."

"Yea, have you decided whether or not to go?" I contacted them, and it will begin on September 1st this year."

"That far out?" Kung Lao questioned. Lao was perplexed as to why invites were being handed out so early in the year.

"Yeah, they're creating rooms for those filming." I've heard it's similar to a hotel but much larger."

Why? How long will the filming take?

I've heard it'll take a couple of months, if not a year.

"A years?! "How so?"

"Look, Kung, you've got a lot of questions." Simply call them to find out. I truly believe you should attend. It will enable you and Tanya to get the space you require."

Liu Kang took Kung Lao's phone and dialed the number.

"All you have to do is press the call button."

Kung took the phone, stepped outside, and took a big breath before pressing the button. He was prepared to take his place.
