Loki had never left Ezri or the baby's side the first year. With the occasional visits to Asgard with Ezri and or with the baby, Bucky would sometimes skip missions to allow her or Loki a chance to go on missions, or even let them rest. Regardless, the team was supportive with their decision, but Loki was planning a surprise for them.
She wasn't sure what the specifics were, but Tony and Loki worked together in secrecy, and honored his wishes. Fenris had been learning to walk, being a big kid with his sippy cups but kept everyone on his toes. Ezri had walked into the kitchen when she saw Peter and Sam looking feverishly around the kitchen and lounge room and was instantly confused.
"Hey you two, everything okay?"
Both straightened up, looking at each other nervously when Loki and Thor came to stand beside her.
"Yeah, everything's great. Just peachy!" Sam said, but Ezri narrowed her eyes when she realized someone was missing….
"Where's my son?" Ezri asked, crossing her arms.
"Oh, you mean Fenris? He's just umm-"
"We're playing hide-and-go-seek! It's our turn to seek, but he's good at hiding…" Peter said lamely, but Loki could see his mate not happy in the slightest.
"He can barely walk, and still mumbling," Ezri said in a low tone, "you mean to tell me you lost our son?"
"Lost? What? No…simply got ahead of us." Sam rephrased.
She was ready to lose her cool when she saw behind her Fenris. His long black hair stuck out to her as he walks in from behind them. Loki smirked at his son's behavior, his son being a mischief all on his own.
"There's the little guy! Come here, my little wolf." Ezri said, kneeling when she opened her arms to him.
Peter and Sam sighed in relief in he ran past them, throwing himself in his mother's arms as she lifted him in the air.
"I feel like this was what he wanted. I feel betrayed…" Sam said with a sigh, Peter patting his back in comfort.
"He did it to me too, you know." Peter reminded him.
"Did you learn that from your daddy, huh?" Ezri teased, when her son looked over to his father. As Loki reached for him, Ezri gasped when she saw him double. A second Fenris appeared in front of Loki as he caught him in his arms.
"Da!"
Ezri had gasped as the rest of the men's eyes bulged. Loki's grew a smile, feeling himself become emotional as the Fenris in Ezri's arms disappeared, but he hugged his son tightly, kissing his chubby cheek.
"He has abilities too! Wow, that's so cool!" Peter said in excitement, Thor gripping his brother's shoulder in assurance.
"Congrats brother, on his first word as well." Thor spoke.
Ezri had pulled Loki down, placing a kiss on his cheek when she felt his pure bliss; a feeling that blew him by surprise each time.
"I'm so happy for you, my beloved…but you're teaching him all his skills. Don't…create too much chaos for the sake of the others, will you?" Ezri asked of him.
Loki chuckled, "Of course, darling."
Waking up one morning, Ezri shivered when she felt a warm breath against her neck, a familiar heavy arm draped over her waist as it pulled her in. Feeling a tingle crawl up her chest along her throat, she knew he was going to be feeling it soon.
"Welcome home, James." Ezri whispered, turning around to bury herself into his chest. Bucky placed a kiss on her forehead, resting his head against hers as he took in her presence. With her season coming up once more, he had taken one final mission before he was going to be preoccupied with her.
With her son already blabbering in the crib, Ezri had attempted to rise but sighed when she felt the sudden familiar weight on her hip, noticing Bucky tense up.
"Did…he just teleport over here?" Bucky questioned and she nodded reluctantly as she pulled him between her and Bucky.
"It seems he got his father's genes. Gods, help us." Ezri said as Fenris snuggled into Bucky.
She was glad to see that Fenris had adapted to Bucky, and he was open to the little boy's attention.
Bucky had struggled in the bit with sharing but had quickly adapted, and having Fenris did help with that as well. Seeing her interaction with him, she wouldn't lie, he'd be a wonderful father when the time came.
"Ah, there you all are."
Loki had somehow appeared behind her, kissing into her ear as she let out a small giggle from his affection, "You must get up darling, I have a surprise for us." He whispered to her.
"Okay, okay. Take Fenris though; he's doing using his abilities again." She warned him as he helped her off the bed.
"Ah, son of Mischief causing chaos in the compound, is he? Come here, Fenris." Loki said as he took Fenris into his arms, carrying him as they walked out.
Taking his truck, Bucky followed Loki's direction with Fenris in Ezri's lap, the drive was a good 20 minutes when Ezri's eyes widened at the building in front of them. Driving up along the road was a three-floor square home along ocean access, with five people outside.
Putting the car and exiting the car, Tony stood with Pepper by his side. She wasted no time in hugging Ezri, happy to see her once more. Sam and Peter had gathered on Bucky to reassure him when they saw the alert in his eyes.
"Pepper, it's a pleasure to see you again. How are you?" Ezri asked of her.
"Good, I didn't want to miss this," Pepper whispered before she pulled away, "they worked so hard on this; I needed to see for myself."
"Work on what, exactly?" Ezri asked, looking to Loki in question.
He smirked, looking over to Tony before he wrapped his arm around her. Walking her towards the house, he couldn't stop himself: "This, darling, is our new home. For all of us, including space for all our children."
Ezri and Bucky's eyes widened at the news, looking over the house cautiously.
"How did you even have time for this?" Bucky questioned, standing beside his wife as he looked over the house more thoroughly.
"Well, Mr. Stark has been kind enough to work with me on making all of this happen. Why don't we look inside, hmm?" Loki encouraged them.
"Alright." Bucky whispered, taking Ezri's hand as they walked in.
Walking inside, her eyes widened at the sudden size of the home. The living room was large and yet cozy, with the dining table and kitchen to the left of it, just as spacious as the current room. On the left side of the home was a slid open room with a large play area for their child, scattered with toys, drawing tables and other various items a child could ever ask for.
"Come, darling."
Ezri was taken up the stairs with Loki as she took the various rooms around them. The main room on the left side of the staircase was the master bedroom, opening the door to reveal the room to her. In the middle of the room was a California King Bed with a large window behind it.
The rest of the rooms on the floor had two bathrooms and six bedrooms. She was alarmed by the space but was still found the experience surreal. Loki saw the way his wife become emotional when she found the backyard. Her Astros galloped freely with the ocean available for her. The yard, she could already see her children in the background.
She felt Loki's arms wrap around her waist, pulling her back against him as he kissed her cheek sweetly. She leaned against him, taking in this moment with him, although it still felt too much for her.
"What do you think, darling?" Loki asked of her in a softy tone.
"It's wonderous, I love it Loks, but…I don't feel worthy for any of this."
"Darling…"
"I never thought I'd have this life. Husbands, children…before I met you I was simply surviving. Each season I thought it would be my last…are you sure you want this with me?"
He turned her to face him slowly, looking over her but she could see himself struggling with himself, "You fail to realize is that we are unworthy of you. A man with who no fortune and purpose, and a man lost in time who faces the same as I do. The world looks to us as an enemy, yet it was you who saw the goodness in us."
"Loki-"
"You accepted our flaws and bared me a wonderful son. You are worthy of this life, of us; all of this. Do not doubt yourself, darling."
Ezri sighed, placing a sensual kiss on his lips before pulling back, "Talk about dysfunctional family."
He chuckled at her attempted humor, "Come pet."
Taking her outside, she watched as her son was playing Thor and Peter, Sam breathless against the tree. Pepper had joined her, taking her hand as she sat down beside her on the swing.
"Do you like it?" Pepper asked her.
"I…adore it. It's too much but I'm forever grateful. Thank you, Mrs. Stark."
"Oh, don't mention it," Pepper spoke, "but Tony and I had an announcement for you."
"Oh?"
Pepper took Tony's hand, smiling up at him before she looked back at Ezri, "I'm pregnant. We're expecting a little one, also."
Ezri gasped, pulling her into a tight hug, "Congrats! I'm excited for you."
"Thank you. I hope you know that I'll come to rely on you for any advice."
"Of course," Ezri confirmed, "I'm here if you need me to heal you or offer to watch your children."
"Oh my gosh, are you sure?" Pepper asked, but Ezri giggled at the glow on her face.
"The boys have me housebound for the next two years for the children. I'd very much love your company, and to see our children bond together." Ezri explained with a smile.
"I'd love that, thank you." Pepper said with a smile, and Tony smirked at his wife's face.
Ezri covered her neck, fighting a shiver as she felt her neck heat up. Bucky looked over to his wife, feeling her wave of pleasure for a moment and he carefully approached her. Taking her hand in his, she looked at him with hazy eyes, but his eyes searched hers.
"Is it time, doll?" he asked her softly.
"No but it will be soon…" she said but he didn't accept that.
Ezri squealed as he picked her up, taking her into the home, "James, I can walk."
"I want all your energy, doll. I'm not taking any chances of you tiring out on me," he said, his husky eyes locking with hers, "I want a child in you."
"Promise?"
He smirked as she managed to somehow wrap her arms around his neck, her legs tightly around his waist. Feeling her kiss up his neck as he entered the house, he knew he'd have to be swift if he wanted to make it to the bedroom, for their team's sakes.
Tony rolled his eyes, "is that time already?"
"Afraid so, Stark." Loki said with a smirk, allowing Bucky the day alone with their wife-for now.
"Please don't tell me she's going to become a baby machine for the rest of her life?" Sam asked, realizing how often this will occur for them.
"Oh no, not at all. She has made it clear that she wishes to take breaks in between. Thought, we should discuss the number…she wishes us to have your freedom to do things. Parenthood could feel very…limited." Loki told him, "But we won't always be Avengers."
"That's true…" Tony said, wrapping an around his Pepper, "Enjoy this moment as you can."
The rest of the week, they took turns with her for the sake of Fenris, but Bucky took most of her time; as agreed. When it was over, Elfie had slept for the whole day but when she awoke Bucky never left her side.
Loki had taken Fenris to visit Asgard, promising to allow them their moment as they waited patiently. A day turned into a week, and a week into three weeks when Loki returned with Fenris.
With no news yet, and her appointment scheduled for next week, Ezri was elated when Fenris finally started walking on his own without help, but Loki wanted him to excel now on his talking. Thor was assisting in the matter, bringing him small knick-knacks as he visited when her appointment finally came up.
When they had returned from the doctors, Loki and Thor were waiting nervously when Ezri ran in, jumping into Thor's arms excitedly.
"I'm with child!"
Thor laughed happily as he spun her around, hugging her tightly as she giggled happily in his arms. Bucky had pulled her away, looking over her carefully, "Be careful, doll."
She rolled her eyes, but listened to him as Loki took possession of her. Running his hands through her hair, he gave her a sensual kiss, missing the feeling of her against him. Fenris appeared onto her shoulder, making Loki sigh in disapproval at the intrusion.
"He's your son, beloved." Ezri teased while Bucky took Fenris into his arms, handing him over to Loki.
"He was doing much better, but it seems he's possessive of his mother…"
Ezri chuckled; she was happy to have her own family.
Over the next few months, Ezri and Pepper endured their pregnancy together, despite their lecture from their husbands. Time had gone so fast: Fenris had grown to be two years old, talking and driving Loki and Sam crazy, but Peter had a field day with him when he came to visit.
Pepper had given birth to Morgan Desiree Stark, which left Ezri nervous as she was expected any day now. Bucky had only been back a few days from his last mission when she went into labor.
Taken to the compound like last time, Bucky never left her side as she had given birth. Holding her hand with his metal one, the team had come into the room when everything was cleared.
Bucky held the baby preciously in his arms, a smile on his face as he looked adoringly at the bundle of joy.
The team had never seen such a blissful moment on his face, but Ezri cleared her voice, allowing him to look up at the awaiting team.
"SOOO, who is that precious baby?" Sam asked.
"Meet Rebecca. Rebeca Toni Barnes." Bucky answered.
"After your sister…" Steve realized, smiling happily for his friend.
"And Toni with an I; after our Tony." Ezri pointed out.
Tony couldn't stop the smirk on his face, honored that she did that for him. Just how he gave Morgan the middle name Desiree to be close to Ezri as possible; he was still touched.
"I'm honored, kid."
"No, I am," Ezri said, "this was all because you let me stay. This is all you, you will always have a friend in me."
"Any chance you'll still be able to join us on missions?" Nat asked, knowing that this may be the need.
"Oh, heck no. I need to show my children a reason to fear us- but mainly me."
Bucky watched as his daughter took his finger, and Clint smirked, "Oh, he is going to be whooped."
Over the years, they continued taking missions, Ezri giving birth to two more kids: a daughter name Aria Odinson and a son name Jamie Barnes. Thor would call on her assistance in Asgard, but he eventually too married Jane Foster.
They had adopted a child from Asgard and raised the little girl as their own.
Sam had married a new agent that joined the team named Wanda, despite her twin brother's (Pietro) attempts to prevent it.
Peter had begun dating MJ but began to bring her and Ned over when he babysat or on free time. May had even helped a dew time, but Ezri still welcomed them into her home.
Morgan, as predicted, was close with their kids. Aria had developed the ability to create illusions, their daughter Rebecca had healing with her father's strength. Jamie had no abilities, but he had the super soldier serum clearly in his genes with his strength and speed.
Watching her children run around together, Ezri kissed her husband's lovingly: not only had she been given a second chance at life.
"I didn't think I could have this…" Bucky confessed.
"Neither did i." Loki whispered.
"I didn't think I would either," Ezri admitted, "But I would live this life all over again if it meant I'd have you both."
"Why don't we stop fighting?" Loki suggested.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"What if we just stop? I'm tired of waking up and…fighting. Fighting to survive, to be happy, to keep you safe. What f we leave the Avengers?" Loki asked.
"We have given enough; we should focus on them: on us. We've earned that." Bucky stated.
"We'll tell them tomorrow, and we will…" Eri swore, "nothing but peace for our dysfunctional family."
"And I wouldn't change a moment of this, darling." Loki whispered, kissing her forehead.
"And I'd fight for you all over again, doll." Bucky whispered, kissing her forehead as well.
She had found her reason to live. And live well she would.
