Hello to anyone that dared check on this darn thing. Welcome to 'Ouroboros', a fanfic set in the world of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, or Hell with a Vivzie touch. As you may have guessed this A/N is going to do a few things, and one of them is stating that Helluva Boss and Hazbin are owned by their Spindlehorse (Vivviene Medrano/Vivziepop) and all that. I didn't plan on making it long, but since I opted to make it simple and only produce A/Ns at certain points, I decided to clarify a few things before we get on with the story.
Speaking of which: When will an Author's Note take place? Around the time an 'Act' ends. What is an 'Act'? A section of the story (How many chapters an Act has will vary greatly, I can tell you that much) that encapsulates a small arc of the whole. These Notes will do a few things if needed, but mainly I'll use them to clear a few things I may want to air and such, as well answer questions when I deem them interesting enough and NON spoilery… If I have answers for them that is.
But now, what is 'Ouroboros' about? Short answer: Humans in Hell. A whole family, or more like a 'clan' considered their numbers. While there will be a clear protagonist (as in 'Main Character'), he won't be alone down there. This is a story about ends and beginnings, about seeing things from a different perspective, how people truly are, for good or bad, and, in the end, moving on in a way.
Of course you may have caught on a rather important detail. 'That sounds like a lot of characters', you may be thinking. And yes, yes they are. All of them will be introduced in the first Act, as it will be quite literally an introductory act heavy in many details and shock to the characters, as well as information for the reader. Not all of these OCs will play big roles or be around for too long, but they are still part of the planned story and necessary to a lesser or greater extent. This means the story itself will likely be long, with a lot of detail, and will have slow treks for many chapters. The length of the story, or if I finish it, depends on my free time, how much I can focus on it, and trying to keep my mind from wandering. Though I will spice things up with action here and there, and there will be blood, curses and the like (We are in Hell after all), as well as drama and other stuff that I'll hope will be entertaining for both you and I. Either way, if you are interested, then be prepared for a long road.
This does merit warnings of course.
First: Yes, curses, blood and a lot of other stuff will take place. We all know how Hell is, this is par for the course. While it won't be there every five seconds you'll have to expect cursing, brutality and so on. And again, as said, this may also include drama here and there and I won't say more in that regard since I don't like drama being excessive, but I do know it can make many stories better if used sparingly and in the right way. Also, just as a warning, more or less: I may add adult situations in the future? Dunno if I will in the end, or just keep it in my head. As I said, it's a heads up just in case and, if it happens, those chapters will be marked.
Secondly, but very important: This story starts a whole decade before the events of Hazbin Hotel, so around 9 years before Helluva Boss (Within this universe's canon if nothing else) and both stories' pilot (as in this universe I.M.P's business picks up shortly after Charlie's… rocky start). As such, while some canon characters will appear regularly (Mentions and appearances from Lucifer and Alastor for example, with common appearances of Stolas and Overlord Rosie…), a big focus will be the large cast of OCs and what happens to them.
This focus on OCs and the story itself also means there will be quite a lot of headcanon and deviation from the official story. My preference with fanfiction lies with them remaining somewhat loyal to the official lore, but the two web series are either still early in their run (hopefully we'll get a lot more of Helluva Boss), or still to air at this juncture (Hazbin). Maybe what I dish out will be closer to what is 'fact' in universe, maybe (most likely, I can assure you that much) it won't, but either way I'll do my best to steer close to what should've been. Besides, if I manage to keep this going it will take a LONG fucking time to reach the series propper, so I should be able to course correct here and there if necessary. And if not? Eh, still fanfiction. This is all basically for fun anyways.
As a third point: Update schedule will vary. I will start uploading every month's first day, then I will upload again depending on how many chapters I have finished the month prior. That means that, if I make 2 chapters, I'll upload that month's first, then in the next upload will be smackdab in the middle. If I make 4, then I'll upload the 1st, the 8th, 16th and 23th. If nothing else I do HOPE to make a chapter a month, but that would be the lowest bar. Then again, it depends on my free time and other factors not exactly under my control.
In any case, this 'note' is already too long. As previously started, I tend to give a lot of detail, or ramble, perhaps far more than I should. So let's leave this as it is. Hope you enjoy the story.
Sidenote: One chapter in Act I will have very touchy, if not downright messed up and 'triggering' (and yes, I word it like that for fun), topics in it. It will have a warning at the start. You better go with an open mind and remember: This is a work of fiction. If you don't like it, fine. If you come knocking on my door to make a fuss, I won't care. If you are expecting political correctness or other such things you better get out right now. If any future chapters after that one merits another mark, I'll put it in place, just so you know.
