Darius jumped off the school bus and walked slowly towards the school building.

At the door he met Brooklyn, a pink-haired girl always with a mobile phone in her hand. Darius always wondered how she could simultaneously record so many videos for her channel and not fail science. She was clearly a girl of many talents.

- Hi. he said hello.

- Hi... Brooklyn said, looking up from the phone... Did you hear the news? she asked.

- No. He answered truthfully.

- A new girl joined our class today. Brooklyn said.

Their class was the smallest in the school. There was him, Brooklyn, kenji, Ben, and Sammy, though they all called her Sam.

Brooklyn, as already mentioned, had a YouTube channel and recorded videos about practically everything. It used to be practically all she did, but when one video nearly cost her her life, she developed her social life. To this day, Darius remembers how they had to pull the rosary cross from her arm, stopping the bleeding until the ambulance arrived. The nun was sentenced, and Brooklyn was severely reprimanded.

Ben was quite a timid kid at first, almost afraid of his own shadow, fear of bacteria no one would even mention. That changed when, on his way home, he saw two homeless men abusing a dog. That day something snapped in him, he grabbed a branch lying on the ground and attacked, it must have looked comical when the teenager was beating up two bigger guys. When the homeless escaped, he took the dog home and named it bumpy, it was a mongrel with very pointed ears.

Sammy was a farmer's daughter and helped in the farm. And that's pretty much all that can be said about her. Just an ordinary nice girl working with her family on a farm.

Kenji was the son of a wealthy scientist-businessman, he was quite a nice guy if you ignore his coin annoying nature. He was annoying but had a good heart. Apparently, a nearby orphanage underwent a major renovation because he persuaded his father to finance it. He never admitted it, but everyone knew better.

And him, Darius, just an average boy with a passion for dinosaurs.

- Anyone know who's joining us? He asked, sitting down next to Brooklyn, they still had twenty minutes until their first lesson.

- She's supposedly a runner... Brooklyn said... I think I saw her race once on TV. What was her name?

Brooklyn clicked quickly on her phone, searching for information.

- Ah yes, Yasmina.

- This Yasmina? Darius asked, leaning over to see the photo.

- You know her?

- Father likes to watch youth races... He replied... That's how I know her. Little world , yesterday you only know someone from television, and the next you will meet in person.

Brooklyn nodded as the class bell rang.

They entered the classroom, everyone sat in their seats, kenji in the front center, Sammy and Ben to the right of the teacher's desk, Brooklyn in the back left, Darius in the second row behind kenji.

The teacher, Mrs. Roxi, entered the room, followed by a young girl.

She was wearing sports clothes, a long-sleeved sweatshirt and sweatpants, her hair was in a ponytail, and she had a black backpack slung over her shoulder.

- Hello... Roxi said, sitting down... As you've probably noticed, you have a new friend in class, say hello.

They all greeted each other in turn. It was obvious that Yasmina was not used to such attention. If Darius remembers one interview with her well, she mentioned that she doesn't like being the center of attention, but once she starts running, she forgets about the whole world.

As he approached, they shook hands, exchanging greetings. Her skin was as soft as silk, her hair seemed to glow in the light bulbs, and her eyes were the color of healthy wood. He had to force himself not to look at them any longer than necessary, he blushed, thanking God for his dark skin.

Maybe it's just his imagination, but Yasmina seemed to blush too.

Everyone sat down, Yasmina taking a seat behind Darius, in the center of the room.

- Now that the greeting is over... Roxi said, recording the presence... Which of you want to show Yasmine around the school?

Yasmina was about to say that there is no need, but Roxi beat her to it.

- Darius, you will do it. Darius nodded.

- Now? He asked

- Yes... She replied... If you run into anyone, tell them I let you.

Darius and Yasmina leaving the classroom.

- So what do you want to see first? He asked.

- Maybe a sports hall.

- Of course. Darius thought and started down the hall with Yasmina following him.

Darius showed Yasmine the school, explaining where everything was. While asking questions. Yasmina seemed to be starting to feel comfortable because she was answering.

- Why did you change schools in the middle of the school year?

- My old house burned down. Me and my mom moved here.

- Here means where?

- The last house towards the forest. White.

- I know which one. He walks there sometimes.

- Even in this weather? She asked, pointing to the snow outside the window.

- If it's not snowing very hard.

For Darius, the day passed rather quickly, Yasmina seemed to have settled in well among them.

As everyone was putting on their jackets, Darius noticed a large bruise under the sleeve of Yasmina's sweatshirt, he shrugged, probably an accident during training.
