This was a fun little concept, I thought of, I'm not so good on comedy, but I wanted to try my hand at it, plus I always found that there was somewhat of a similarity between the two ships (not the characters) and the fan bases that surround them, also my first attempt at a crossover fic, so let's get to it.
It's a fine morning. The birds chirp and sun rises, taking in the town under its warm embrace. Light passes through the leaves unto the eyes of two sleeping pilots. One Shinji Ikari and a Asuka Langley Soryu.
Shinji opens his eyes slowly, looking up to the sky as the sun-rays shine through the summer forest. Next to him lay Asuka, who seemed to be still, sleeping unawares. He got up slowly and looked around the forest trying to make sense of his environment.
Where are we? He wondered.
"Misato!" he croaked as he tried to yell, coughing a little bit afterwards. His throat was dry and his voice a little bit raspy. "I need water." He said, still looking around the forest.
Soon Asuka woke up and rose slowly looking towards Shinji who seemed to be examining the waters.
"Shinji." She asked, tired eyed and weary "Where, are we?" coughing a little bit after asking that question. she was also in dire need for some food and water.
"I don't know." Shinji answered "and this water doesn't look very clean either."
"Of course, it's not" *cough* "Clean." Asuka said "we're near a lake. A fishing lake from the looks of it."
"What makes you say that?" he asks casually
"Over there" She says, pointing towards the other side of the lake, at the docks.
"Fishing docks." Shinji said "obviously Idiot." She responded.
"Alright Asuka, if we can get over there quickly maybe someone will be willing to help us."
"Or kill us." She mentions in an undertone. "no one is going to kill us." He responds "we just need to get friendly with the locals."
Heading over to the docks, the fishermen had come along with two police officers.
"See." He said to Asuka, "We'll be fine."
"Aren't you unreasonably calm." Asuka remarked
"I have a little experience wondering around." He responded, calling out to the police: "Uhm, Hello, officers!"
Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland looked back and saw two unfamiliar faces that they'd never seen before. And as Shinji called out to them, they'd heard:
"Ohayo Keisatsukan!" he said as he approached them. " Maigo ni nari-mashita. Testudatte mo ii desu ka?"
Blubs and Durland looked at each other and then back at him, "Konnichiwa?" Durland said almost laughing.
"Konnichi-" and then Shinji realized "Eigo-ga wakarimasen" he sighed
"Boy can you speak English?" Blubs asked, "English." He emphasized waving his hands. Shinji didn't know what he was doing but shook his head at the sounds of 'english'. He quickly turned around and pointed to Asuka, who was amused by this little charade between Shinji and the Sheriff.
"Eigo…eto…English, Asuka, Hanasu." he said, "What?" Blubs asked, "English." he emphasized this time indicating towards Asuka, who wanted to laugh.
"What's so funny Asuka." Shinji asked her, "Nothing." She said containing her laughter going over to Blubs and Durland.
"Are you also like your friend over there?" Durland asked her
"No, I can speak the queen's tongue." She replied
"Thank goodness." Blubs said, "now what are folks like you doing here in our little town anyway."
"Well, we're a little lost." Asuka replies
"Lost?" they(Blubs and Durland) both say
"Yeah." Asuka responds, "and while we're at it where exactly are we?"
"Why you're in a little town called Gravity Falls Oregon." Durland responds
"Oregon!?" Asuka says shocked. Oregon Shinji wondered, he'd heard that name somewhere before, and although the weather wasn't much different, it was still a bit strange for the summer.
"America?" he said out loud.
"Yes, boy America." Durland responded to him, "home of the free, land of the brave."
"How is that even possible." Asuka said, "We were in Japan Tokyo-3 just a couple of hours ago."
"Tokyo-3?" Blubs says
"Yes, Japan Tokyo-3 district." She expressed
"I know of A Tokyo…but three? Are there three Tokyo's?" he asks Durland
"Well, you never know nowadays." Durland answered
"Wait what are you to going on about?" Asuka says confused
"Alright you don't exactly look like you're playing with a full deck yourself alright." Blubs said, "So how about we take in town, get you guys cleaned up, and then we'll get someone who's better suited for this case."
"But you're the police." Asuka said.
"Yeah well…I don't get paid enough for this shit." He responds "especially in this town."
"what does that mean?" she asked, but Blubs didn't answer her.
"Come on Let's go." Durland said calling to Shinji, who just followed along with Asuka.
"What's going on? where are they taking us?" he asked her. "They're going to get us help." She answered him "and hopefully a couple of answers...a shower wouldn't hurt as well."
"You think they'll be able to call over Nerv in Japan?"
"I don't know." she said, "Something's not right here."
With that they got in car and drove off with Blubs and Durland into the town.
As the morning sun rose, Dipper pines found himself waking up to perform the daily morning ritual. Eat, brush teeth, work around the mystery shack, look for some semblance of mystery, sleep and repeat. It had been two years since Weirdmageddon and ever since then Gravity falls had lost its bit of mystery. There were still things he could discover, like relics or runes but nothing exciting, at least not for him anyway. What with Ford and Stan away every now and then, and Soos managing the Mystery Shack, he had little to do other than mandatory labor and occasionally hang out with Wendy and her friends. And then there was Pacifica, Ohhh Pacifica. Even though things were generally okay between the two of them, there was still a bit of uneasiness, an uncertainty that rose from some lack of action, some awkward air that they could never quite push through. But nonetheless all was calm and peaceful, a little bit boring if you had asked dipper who was now working by the counter, reading that same No.3 Journal hoping maybe Ford added some secret that he forgot. Reading and reading.
He sighed at the book as the ceiling fan kept spinning and the still air pushed in through the sun rays entering the shop at this early hour.
Mabel had Grenda and Candy, and they would go about with their usual activities. (whatever it is that was usual with Mabel:)
The door opened and as he readied himself to meet with a customer, he saw that it was Pacifica who walked in through the door.
"Oh, hi Pacifica." He said enthusiastically. "Hey dipper." She greeted back entering the store.
"So what can I get you for today?" he asked her. "oh I didn't come to buy anything." she says
"oh really? so you just came to hang out here at the mystery shack?" he said rather sarcastically.
"I came to check up on you, you idiot." She said nudging him by the shoulder, deciding to sit behind the counter with him.
"That's real sweet Pacifica. Thanks" he gave her a smile. "You're welcome." she answers back
"I'm sorry, it's just…gravity falls has been a little boring as of late."
"Oh Dipper, Can't live in a world without wonder and mystery." she said whilst looking around.
"It's more like I don't want to...seems shallow and...empty."
"Then why even come back here when you've discovered everything there is to discover."
"Well actually." He says with a chuckle, "there's still one mystery I haven't solved yet?"
"Oh really?" she asked curious, "what is it?"
"Can't tell ya?" he responds to her closing the journal.
"Uh ah, what is it?" she insisted
He gave her a little mischievous look, "Dipper pines. What is it?"
Just as he was about to speak, Mabel barged in with Candy and Grenda. Excitable, as usual.
"Dipper! Dipper!, we have a mystery." She said, breathing and panting. Pacifica rolled her eyes this again
"What's wrong Pacifica?" Candy asked
"It's just gonna be another wild goose chase." she answers
"I understand where you're coming from Pacifica. but here us out" Mabel said.
"Whatever." She said, picking up the journal and reading through it.
"Okay." Mabel continued "So, there's these two foreigners right.", "Mabel!" Dipper said interrupting her
"Sorry, two visitors, these guys like don't fit in Dipper." Mabel still continued
"Well yeah I mean if they're from another country-"
"No you don't understand like they don't 'FIT' in. It's like they're from here, like a different world a different."
"Dimension?" Dipper finished for her, "Yes, exactly!" she says.
"Blendin Blandin?" Dipper asks again, "I don't think so no." she responds, " this is like physical dimension travel, and not of the timeloppy kind."
"A plane outside of our dimension, into another separate world...Hm" Dipper wondered, "But what wait the portal's broken how could they have possibly jumped from one world to another."
"I don't know maybe there's another portal or gateway or something." Mabel answered him, "but this is our only chance to get back into the mystery game…come on mystery twins."
Dipper hesitated, looking to Pacifica who clearly didn't want him to go, he was unsure.
"They look too anime to me." Grenda said
"Oh my god." Pacifica expressed "Anime characters, really? Did some mangaka manage to bring his comic to life?" though she was teasing, the rest them began to wonder.
"How do you know what Manga is?"
"Doesn't matter guys, Just...haven't you done enough of this mystery thing?" she asks, Dipper and Mabel hesitated.
Dipper once again looking towards Pacifica saw that she was giving him that kind of look: Dipper please she was saying
But he couldn't resist, he considered all the factors and...
"Okay just one more." He said, after which Pacifica immediately buried her head in her hands. "Yes!" Mable expressed.
"Most likely it'll be couple of tourists y'know, not a big deal." Dipper said trying to convince Pacifica, "Look we'll go in and out quick and easy. nothing life-threatening is gonna happen."
Pacifica was still shaking her head, "Come with us."he said, "I'm not suited for this sort of-"
"Now i'll show you come on, if something does happen I'll immediately pull out when it gets dangerous."
"Yeah, we're not stupid Pacifica." Mabel said, "We wanna live."
"Okay fine." she conceded, "let's go."
YES! dipper yelled internally. "Oh wait but it my shift"
"I'm sure Soos won't mind." Mabel said, "Now come on."
They headed out of The Mystery Shack and straight to Greasy's Diner.
Shinji had grabbed himself a Japanese to English/Kanji to Alphabet phonetics dictionary. Sitting across the table from Asuka. He ordered a meal and ate his food whilst reading the dictionary.
"Aren't you gonna eat?" he asked her
"Already did." she says.
"That's good." he responded, going through the dictionary.
"I asked the locals." Asuka spoke "They don't know anything about Tokyo-3, or Nerv or the Angels or anything really."
"mmmm." Shinji said in response
"The Japan they have is similar but..." Asuka continued, "But ultimately it's different. I saw images on this girl's phone, Tambry was her name or something. but the point is everything is completely different, so is the world. there's no impact crater on the south pole, it's-"
"Normal." Shinji finishing for her, "It's normal."
"Depends on your definition of normal." she retorted.
"Have you noticed how we're a little bit older?" Shinji asked her
"What are you talking about?" she asks
"I feel older." he says back to her. "heck I even look it, and so do you."
"That's all you care about?" Asuka said quite annoyed, "how old we are?"
"It's weird." Shinji continues "I feel like we're at least 3 years older, and something happened here, something very weird and nobody wants to talk about it isn't that-"
"Stop." Asuka interrupted him, "we are trapped in a world where we don't belong and all you care about is what? Our Age? The town?" but Shinji remained quiet.
"Don't be an idiot. We need to find a way to get back now."
"You wanna know something strange Asuka?" Shinji asked her
"What?" she asks
"That feeling I had back home, the uneasiness, the stress, the worry, the twists and knots in my stomach, all those feelings…they're gone, I don't know why and I don't understand it but…they're gone. And maybe you're afraid to admit it but, I kind of like it here."
"what the hell happened to you?" she asks him, "what do you mean?" he says
"Shinji This place...we don't belong here, this isn't our home."
"I know but-"
"Shinji No. Misato, Kaji, Hikari, Kensuke and Toji don't you think they're worried for us, probably looking for us?"
Shinji remained quiet once again, "Don't run away." she says, "especially not here where...where I can't reach you."
"I know, but for now, can we just try to make the best of it."
"I-" but before she could say anything the diner doors opened and the Mystery twins walked in. Looking around Dipper noticed the two who didn't "FIT" in. and once he saw them he thought, wow they really do look anime.
"Is that Them?" dipper asked Mabel.
"Yeah." She said, and with that he quickly approached them.
"Wow." Pacifica said out loud "They really do look anime."
"Told you." Grenda said. "Yeah whatever."
"Hey." Dipper said as he approached their table.
"Hello." Shinji greeted back, "Nice to meet you."
"Likewise." Dipper shook his hand, Mabel sat on the other side of the table, drawing close to Shinji.
"So buddy where ya from?" she asked interrogating him.
"Uhmm…Japan." He said, "Interesting." mabel replies.
Pacifica sat next to Asuka on the other side, "Hey." She greeted, "Hi." Asuka said.
"Bad day?" she asked her. "Something like that." Asuka replies
As Mabel and her friend where bombarding Shinji with questions, he couldn't really answer all of them as he did not understand, so he pointed out to Asuka "My English…isn't that good." He said, "Asuka can speak English well."
"Asuka?" Mabel said, immediately looking towards her "Geez aren't you the excitable one?" Asuka said.
"Alright Mabel let me handle this." Dipper said, now looking towards Asuka as well
"I take it you two are from another dimension, say a different world?" he asked
"Yes." Asuka responded
"The anime dimension?" Mabel asked
Pacifica felt so embarrassed for her, facepalming again.
"Anime?" Asuka says confused, "You two look like you jumped out of an anime." Grenda says unapologetically. Asuka and Shinji looked at their attire and then maybe considered themselves.
"I have no idea what you two are talking about." Asuka says
""Ignore them." Pacifica said still facepalmed.
"I just want to know how you guys ended up here?" Dipper asks, "and why?"
"Neither of us know, we just woke up here and got into town." Asuka responds to him.
"So chances are you don't know how to get back." he says
"You got that right." Asuka responds
"Well i think we can help you?" Dipper says.
"You guys?" Asuka inquired "Dipshit and the excitable bunch." She mocked; a tiny smile found its way across Pacifica's face. "Hey!" Mabel said
"Listen you can make fun of us all you want, but I genuinely wanna help you guys out." Dipper says
"What's in it for you?" she asks
"Knowledge." Dipper answered simply. "Another mystery for me to solve, something fun."
"So you're like a detective?" Asuka says,
"Well, Sort Of" He responds "the only thing I can think of now, is the portal, but I don't want to mess with that thing again. I'm sure uncle ford will know a thing or two about dimension travel."
"Time to do some research." Mabel says, "That's right." Dipper agrees
"Follow us to the mystery shack, pacifica will drive us back." he said as he got up and went to the car, Pacifica amused shook her head. Asuka's gaze focused on her.
As they were walking back:
"I didn't take you for the generous kind." Asuka said to Pacifica
"Not on most days but, those two have a way of rubbing of on ya." She said, "especially dipper."
"Hmph." Asuka said with a smile on her face, "What is it?" she asked
"Dipper was his name? he's not bad, kinda cute."
"You're not one to be teasing me" Pacifica said as their walking to the car. "what with Mabel crushing on that boyfriend of yours."
"let her, Shinji can't even understand half the things she's saying."
"Oh so he is your boyfriend?" Pacifica asks her.
"Shut up." she says amused, "You're not the only one who can play this game y'know."
"Alright." Asuka shrugged.
Meanwhile a pale blue haired girl wondered around the town like a ghost searching for her fellow co-pilots.
She passed by an Wendy who's was busy chopping wood planks, just doing her own thing.
"Hey are you lost?" she asked her.
"No." Rei says "I am looking for the pilots Soryu and Ikari. Have you seen them?"
"I don't know, I haven't seen any pilots." Wendy says. "trying asking the deputy or something, or report a missing persons case."
"Thank you." Rei said, and she continued to walk about.
"Weird girl." Wendy said, as she proceeded to chop wood planks.
Meanwhile Soos found himself on an open beach with white sands, along with red waters crashing upon its shores. A severed decaying head lie in the distance and humanoid steel pillars fixated as crucifixes stood out from the waters.
"I don't like this dudes." he said to Melody and Waddles

I used Multiple references for the gravity falls Map, mostly a redditor who drew a "realistic" map? he deleted his account but the post is still there. You can look it up easily.
Maybe a chapter or two could come out of this.
