It's been a few days since Blucomon became part of the family at the couriers. As a way to celebrate them, Nakamura has given Kazuki the day off to show Blucomon around the city.
Wearing more casual attire for his day off, including a pair of lengthy shorts, and a long-sleeved t-shirt, the pair go on a mini-day out. They fashioned a mini carrier for him to wear on his back so he can take Blucomon with him, without drawing too much attention.
Kazuki walks down the busy streets with Blucomon nestled safely in his backpack. They pass by towering skyscrapers and brightly lit storefronts, taking in all the sights and sounds of the bustling city. Blucomon peeks out from the backpack every now and then, its eyes widening with excitement.
Kazuki grins, happy to be showing his digital companion around. "See that over there?" he says, pointing at a towering neon sign. "That's one of the biggest arcades in the city. We have to check it out later." Blucomon nods eagerly, its fluffy blue ears perking up with interest.
Kazuki walks through the bustling streets, a wide grin on their face as they introduce their partner to the sights and sounds of the city. The furry blue creature looks around in wonder, taking in the bright lights and loud honking of cars. Suddenly, Kazuki hears a strange buzzing noise overhead.
"Hey, Blu...do you hear that?" Kazuki stops and focuses on listening out for something. "That buzzing sound. Can you hear it?"
Standing in place, they look around for the source, Blucomon even pops his head out of the bag to help. While searching the open skies, Blucomon's big, hunter-red eyes spot it.
"There! Right there!" He struggles to get his hands free before pulling them out of the bag. He points to a fairly big flying object in the sky. "It doesn't look like much, but that's it. It's a Digimon!"
Amazed by their partner's words, Kazuki reaches into his pocket and pulls out his smartphone. "I remember reading on the blog last night that there have been sightings of a large bug in the city. That must be it. Let's follow."
Kazuki gives chase, running through the city streets, his eyes fixed on the colorful wings of the Digimon darting overhead. He picks up speed, his determination to catch it growing with every step. The wind rushes past him, carrying with it the sweet scent of flowers and the distant sound of cars honking. Blucomon remains in the backpack but keeps his head out. Keeping a wide, vigilant eye out, he watches the Digimon closely, keeping track of any potential changes in their direction.
While hot on their trail, they notice how the Digimon starts to get lower, as if it's almost reached its destination. As it gets low, the pair notice something being carried by the Digimon.
"Looks like it's trying to carry something. But what is it?"
"Can't say for sure. Best guess, a jar, a container of something maybe?"
The Digimon suddenly drops out of the sky, and into a stretch of road. "We can't lose it!" Kazuki puts his foot down, and charges forth, turning the corner into the same alleyway.
Entering the area, they finally become face-to-face with the Digimon. The Digimon turns around, now having spotted Kazuki and Blucomon chasing after them. This Digimon appears as a bee, a big one with emerald green eyes and a pair of blue antennae. This is Funbeemon.
"You! What are you doing here?" Funbeemon comes off as hostile toward the two, becoming very defensive. "Why were you following me?" Despite the cute appearance, Funbeemon keeps a stern, glare on the two.
Kazuki puts his hands up, "Hey! Woah! Easy!" He raises his voice to be heard, but his intention is to defuse the tension. "We don't mean you any harm. We just saw you flying, got a little excited at seeing a Digimon, and got carried away. I'm sorry if we scared you, that wasn't our intent."
Funbeemon keeps their eyes on Kazuki, still not in a place to trust the tamer. "You know I'm a Digimon, human?" They lower themself down to the ground to softly put down a fairly big jar of honey. "You said..we..," Funbeemon gets suspicious, before feeling threatened by the sight of Blucomon popping their head out of the backpack. "You're not getting any of our honey!"
Funbeemon turns hostile as they get between the jar and Kazuki. Taking flight, they lift themself off the ground and hover. Presenting their stinger, they start charging their attack.
Kazuki again tries to calm them down. "Wait, there must be some mistake. I swear we're not after anything. This is just a misunderstanding."
His words fall on deaf ears. Funbeemon attacks with a frontal assault, "Gear Stinger!" Funbeemon fires needles from their stinger like bullets from a gun. Aiming solely for Kazuki, Blucomon leaps out of their hiding spot, getting in the way of the attack, "Baby Hail!" Using their own attack, they match it by firing shards of ice into the needles, hitting them before they can hurt either of them.
Blucomon lands in front of Kazuki, acting as his bodyguard.
"See! I knew it! You hide your partner so you could get the jump on me!" Funbeemon keeps his distance from the two, placing their body in front of the jar to block it from their sight.
"Again, this is just a misunderstanding...," Before Kazuki can get another word in, Funbeemon fires another barrage of needles, this time going for both of them. Blucomon is once again quick to defend the attack, managing to catch nearly every blow for blow, except one.
A stray needle misses one of the shards and passes them. It narrowly hits Kazuki, only grazing him by an inch, but still enough to tear the material on his shirt, and draw a little blood.
"Kazuki!" Blucomon goes from panic to fury in the split second between the attack going through, seeing a graze of blood on their partner's arm. "You...You'll pay for that!" Using another Baby Hail attack, this time one more prominent.
Funbeemon dodges and weaves through the shower of ice shards with ease. The height advantage that flight provides makes this an easy feat. However, Blucomon stops the attack before rushing straight forward, be-lining for the jar of honey. Kazuki tries to call off the attack, but Blucomon doesn't listen, too engulfed in their anger.
"Ice Mash!"
Funbeemon comes straight down, trying to block the attack. They are successful. Blucomon slams into the bee Digimon. Blucomon unintentionally grabs Funbeemon by one of their multiple legs. The momentum carries them, and they fly over the jar of honey. The two come back down and roll into a ball. Like something out of a cartoon, they somehow pick up more speed before the pair slam into a brick wall at the end of the street.
Kazuki comes running, wanting to check on his partner and the bee. They both sit on the floor with spirals for eyes, dizzy with sore heads, but otherwise fine. Kazuki has a relieved look on his face, thankful that they are okay, but is exhausted from all the running he's had to do in such succession.
"Hey! Wait!" A voice calls out from behind Kazuki and Co. He turns around with an audible, "Huh" to see someone picking up the jar of honey, and coming over to them.
"Wait, please! Stop!" Like Kazuki, they look tired from running, not helped by their having to carry the heavy jar.
The stranger looks to be around the same age as Kazuki, possibly a year older. They are dressed rather smart, wearing something appropriate for a job interview, or to work in a professional setting. They have dark hair, and brown eyes, as well as a pair of smart, but stylish glasses.
"Please, Funbeemon didn't mean to hurt you, if he did. I swear, he's just very protective." While they are breathing heavily from their own running session, Kazuki spots the smartwatch on their arm, the same as his.
Kazuki looks them up and down, then toward the two passed-out Digimon on the floor. Connecting the dots in his head, Kazuki figures Funbeemon is this guy's partner. Turning to them, he asks a simple question. "Who are you?"
The stranger realizing their mistake, puts down the par, before reaching into his pocket. He fumbles a bit before pulling out a business card. He bows while presenting it, "Nice to meet you. My name is Ren Isamu."
Kazuki takes the card and nods. "Hmm, thank you. It's nice to meet you too." He pockets the card before continuing, "I'm Kazuki. And, I hope you don't mind, but I have...a lot more questions."
