As the sun rises from the horizon, the Dragons and their Riders woke up and received a quick message from Enny to gather outside the lodge after breakfast from a bunch of Lynians.
They did just that as they stepped out of the room, greeted one another, and went to the hall where food is prepared fresh and ready.
"Does anyone ever get used to this kind of lifestyle? Because I'm starting to get used to it," Snotlout said as rushed to his seat and feasted on his food,
The others would join up and have a small talk as they ate together. Though they find it quite odd that their esteemed guide isn't around to greet them.
Thus, they would meet her outside the lodge after they'd had their breakfast.
Once they stepped out, they soon find Enny doing what appears to be some form of stretching as some noticed how fluid her arms were moving.
"Is everyone present?" Enny asked even with her back turned,
"We're all here, Enny. Just like you've said" Stoick replied,
"Good," Enny said as she finished her stretching and turned towards them, "Now we may begin,"
Enny then summoned a large chest, and everyone just stood there as she searched for something inside. Moments later, she now wears a necklace around her neck and faces the group.
"So... Are we leaving or are we supposed to admire your pretty necklace?" Tuffnut asked, "Which by the way, that is one cool-looking necklace,"
"Neither, for what I'll show you will occur here," Enny specified, then present the necklace's gem to them, "This Necklace that I'm wearing allows me to wear a set of armor whenever I wish. The armor I have stored throughout the years is in this chest. And so are the weapons that I plan to show you all,"
"Weapons you say?" Gobber said with interest, "If that is what you're showing, color me interested,"
The same is said for Eret, Stoick, Dagur, and the Twins while the rest were curious as to why weapons are being introduced. The first to ask is Hiccup as he's the most curious one, "W-Why would you want to show us weapons?"
"Because..." Enny takes a deep breath before revealing the crucial part of today's session, "In this world, there are hunters. Monster Hunters to be precise,"
This gravely surprised everyone, and Fishlegs was fresh to express his thoughts on the subject, "Monster Hunters? Why would there be Monster Hunters in this World? Can't there be Monster Riders instead,"
"I understand your concern and personality, Fishlegs. But I assure you that we won't be doing any hunting around here or in the Old World," Enny said, "And as for the hunters here, they aren't like the Dragon Hunters you've often clashed within your world. Instead, they have a good reason for it,"
"Which is?" Valka questioned,
"For the safety of their village, and maintaining balance within the ecosystem," Enny explained, "If things are left unchecked, the very ecosystem would fall into disarray and lead to the destruction of homes of hundreds. Even threaten the very lives of people in this world,"
"Couldn't they just relocate them? Surely, it's better than just killing them on the spot," Hiccup suggested,
"If only it were that simple. Because the monsters here aren't like your dragons," Enny explained, "They are much larger, stronger, smarter, and more ferocious than any wild dragon you've faced in your world. The Velocidrome and this Yian Garuga are barely scratching the surface for the number of monsters is vast in the Old World. Even if they are tamed and trained under your standards, it wouldn't affect the very nature of this world in the slightest. Good or Bad,"
By this explanation alone, Hiccup admitted that he felt frustrated knowing that these monsters are hunted. Astrid, Fishlegs, and Valka would share their sentiments and join in his frustration as well.
Though Enny would shift the mood before it went downhill from that point on, "I'm aware that you disapprove of these methods, but I assure you that it's nothing like the Dragon Hunters,"
Enny then digs into her chest and pulled out one item: A Guild Card.
"Because The Hunters of this World require these cards to hunt and the organization that hands these cards are known as the Hunter's Guild," Enny explained, "If anyone dares to try and hunt monsters without these cards, they will be listed as poachers or illegal hunters and such actions results to a multitude of punishments; The Most Common is Death at the Hand of a Guild Knight,"
"Guild Knight? What kind of job is that?" Eret asked,
"They are the Hunter's Guild's Elite Hunters and Enforcers. They protect the public from trouble and enforce the rules of the guild to other hunters. They also act as negotiators for other settlements and often collect information on monsters unknown to the public. The latter is a story for another time," Enny explained, "In simple terms, they are the Guild's Top Soldiers,"
Enny's necklace then began to glow, and her attire soon changed from her casual wear to the uniform of a Guild Knight, "And this is what they look like,"
Everyone seems intrigued by the fabrics of the attire, even those who aren't fond of hunting monsters couldn't help but admire such an attire.
"Fascinating, isn't it?" Enny asked,
"It is, but does that make you a Guild Knight as well?" Mala inquired,
"As tempting as it sounds, No. I lack the skills and responsibilities to acquire such a job," Enny revealed, "That, and I'm fine with where I am. As long as I keep my hands clean and all that,"
"Then why do you have such an attire if you're not a Guild Knight," Valka quested,
"That's because this attire isn't made by the very material that is worn by Official Guild Knights," Enny revealed, "In short, its nothing but a replica that can be earned by regular hunters,"
With that, Enny reverts her clothes back to her casual attire, "Any more questions?"
"This Guild you've mentioned, what else do they do besides hunting?" Hiccup asked,
"They often go on expeditions to collect natural resources, examine the wildlife to see if they are any disruptions within the ecosystem, act as escorts for travelers, and a few more," Enny revealed, "As for their personalities, I'm sure that all of you will get along just fine,"
Some of the Riders seem enlightened by this information and they couldn't help but wonder how they'll truly get along. But that remains to be seen should they truly meet such people in this world. Though Hiccup still feels a bit concerned over the matter.
Before long, Gobber presses a different question in mind, "So, when are you going to show the weapons? I'd like to see how these things are different than ours,"
"Interested, eh? In that case, I'll show you," Enny replied, rummaging through her chest while everyone just stood there and watched as Enny demonstrates each weapon to them.
Great Sword
"In the hands of Hunters, there are a total of 14 Weapons that they could use depending on their preferences," Enny explained, "Let's start with the First Weapon on the list,"
Without hesitation, Enny pulls out what looks like a large sword made of a body and she easily held it onto her shoulder like it didn't weigh anything.
"This is the Great Sword," Enny revealed, "A Weapon capable of dashing out powerful slashes at the cost of user's mobility. Thus, Timing is crucial and one wrong mishap would lead to a missed opportunity,"
A Dummy soon appeared in the open, and Enny demonstrates a hard swing with her Great Sword. One charged slash was enough to cut the dummy in two. This pique their interest, though it wasn't favorable since they'd prefer weapons that are lighter to use.
Regardless, Enny continues with her explanation, "Though weight aside, its large size has proven itself to be quite useful as a shield. I'll demonstrate by having my Wyvern hit me,"
The Yian Garuga soon positioned itself meters away from Enny's position and breathes a fireball toward her. Enny would use her Great Sword to block the attack, though it dragged her feet against the ground and remains somewhat unharmed by the attack.
With that done, Enny struck the end of the sword against the ground, "And that is the Great Sword,"
"I have to say, the Sword would be useful against large targets. But if it were used for anything else, I doubt it'll be useful if something fast is running at you," Gobber stated,
"I have to agree, and I doubt anyone here is capable of lifting that much weight around," Astrid remarked,
"There are some hunters out there that prefer the might of the Greatsword. But if this came to your hands, I also doubt it'll be useful to you," Enny added before putting the Greatsword away,
Sword and Shield
"The Second Weapon of the Hunter is a simple Sword and Shield," Enny explained as she pulled out a metal sword and shield, "It's balanced, offers great mobility, and is quite easy to use for beginners,"
The same dummy was placed, and Enny demonstrate several fluid attacks and footwork against the dummy. It a matter of minutes, the Dummy soon finds itself in pieces and Enny sheathes the Sword onto her back.
"However, the downside of this weapon is that it's considered the Jack of All Trades kind of weapon. Any hunter hoping to deal tremendous damage with this weapon, I'm afraid they'll come short since it's their basic weapon," Enny explained,
"As true as it sounds, light equipment makes all the difference. Why do you think most of our weapons are made of Gronckle Iron," Gobber stated, while some favored the weapon since it's traditionally their weapon of choice.
With that settled, Enny stores the weapon away.
Dual Blades
"The Third Weapon of the Hunter is Dual Blades," Enny said and pulled a pair of blades from the chest, "If one blade isn't enough, why not hold two? As the name suggests, these blades offer greater mobility and deliver swift strikes than any weapon,"
Enny demonstrates by launching a barrage of swift strikes and leaving the dummy in splinters. Moments later, the dummy is brought back together, "Another feature that comes with the blades is 'Demon Mode'. It doesn't turn you into an actual demon, it just enhances the overall speed of one's attacks,"
Enny would demonstrate this by crossing the blades above her head to emit a red glow and then unleashing a flurry of slashes that were faster than before.
Once finished, she'd dispel the glow and turn to her awestruck audience, "As for the downside of this weapon is that the damage output is significantly lower than the Sword and Shield. Thus, a Hunter must constantly deal damage and Demon Mode drains one's stamina,"
"And that sounds like my kind of weapon," Astrid admitted,
"And a kind any Viking would want to have," Gobber added,
Enny then stores the blades in the chest and moves to the next one.
Longsword
"The Longsword, unlike the Greatsword, is quite light and holds great range. A popular choice among hunters," Enny explained,
When a dummy was prepared, Enny demonstrates the weapon by performing a few slashes. Compared to the great sword, it was swift and deadly as the edge slices right through the dummy's body. Impressing the audience once more.
"But there's more: when one wields the Longsword, their spirit grows to the point that the blade emits a red glow," Enny said before unleashing a particular combo against a fixed dummy. She then sheathes the blade, firmly grasped the handle, and fixed her posture before dashing forward with a quick draw of her sword.
When the first slash right across the dummy's body, another follows suit and slices the dummy into three pieces. But Enny doesn't stop there as she held the blade forward, thrusts it against the centerpiece of the dummy, and jumps into the air before striking the cut dummy right down the middle.
By the end of this demonstration, the Riders truly applauded Enny's skill with the blade as she sheathes it, "One that
"I must admit, your skill with this blade has piqued my interest," Mala stated, "And the design is something I truly admired,"
"It does suit you, Beloved," Dagur approved and so did their dragons,
"Though I'm curious. What's the downside of wielding this weapon?" Gobber questioned,
"The downside of this weapon is its lack of defense similar to a Greatsword," Enny said as she stored the blade inside her chest, "And if you miss, then you'll miss the opportunity to truly damage monsters,"
Hammer
"For our next weapon, I'm certain that most of you would truly feel connected with this one," Enny presumed, then pulled out a large metal hammer, "Especially you, Stoick,"
"Oh ho ho ho! I am definitely going to love this," Stoick said while Valka just smiled at her husband's enthusiasm. This is shared with Gobber, Dagur, and even Skullcrusher,
"The Hammer is a weapon that, well, clubs monsters to stun them," Enny explained, and takes several swings at a fixed dummy,
Knocking it several meters away from her, "But to truly stun the monsters... I suppose the vintage Stoick the Vast can answer that,"
"Quite simple, really," Stoick said, "You aim for the head,"
"Precisely," Enny said, "When hitting the monster by the head several times, the monster will be stunned if the blow is hard enough. With a monster larger than any man, it seems appropriate to just swing this around,"
"And that is my kind of weapon. I don't suppose you have a spare lying around, don't you?" Stoick inquired,
"I do, but after I've made proper adjustments. These things are heavy to hold, you know," Enny said,
"Pssh, I'm sure I can handle it," Stoick stated, and Enny showed no doubt to his claim,
She then puts the hammer away and Gobber shows no interest in asking its downside since he knew it himself. Just like every Viking present today,
Hunting Horn
"The Next Weapon on the list is the second blunt weapon, but some hunters regarded it as a support type weapon," Enny soon pulls out another hammer, but the head was shaped differently than the Hammer, "This is the Hunting Horn,"
"Hunting Horn? Why is it so different than a regular horn?" Gobber questioned,
"That's because the Hunting Horn can create a particular set of melody that enhances the hunter and their party or momentarily stun a monster's hearing,"
Enny demonstrated the Hunting Horn without a dummy and played a particular note for the Riders and Dragons to hear. The Riders weren't particularly fond of the tune since they prefer their instruments while the Dragons were awfully curious about this weapon.
After performing a few sets of notes, Enny hoisted the Hunting Horn onto her shoulder and it stopped playing, "The Hunting Horn's songs vary on how its made,"
"Hm... An interesting design, though loud noises such as this one aren't my style," Gobber remarked,
"But the use of sound to enhance several people at once? I could only of the possibilities with this weapon. It may even strengthen our dragons if played correctly," Fishlegs stated,
Enny would store the Hunting Horn, then place it into the chest.
Lance
"Our next weapon on the list is the Lance," Enny said as she showed the Lance, what surprised them was the retractable tip, "A Weapon that is often used for its defensive capabilities, it still deals a lot of damage against monsters. Sometimes, a Lance user would often resort to a full frontal assault since the Lance has great range and power on the frontline,"
Enny demonstrates this by donning the standard pose of a lance user before charging her way right toward the dummy. Upon contact, the dummy was impaled right through its chest and a few of the squeamish audience winced at the sight.
The rest applauded to Enny's show of skill while she retracts the spear tip and let the dummy fall on the ground.
"Though I enjoyed that moment, I couldn't help but wonder about the designs of this weapon. It looked unfamiliar due to the very shape of the spear," Gobber remarked,
"That's because the design is foreign to Vikings. If I were to show this to another group of audience, surely they would have recognized the design," Enny explained,
"Hmm... I suppose, there are some things we Vikings have yet to understand," Gobber said,
Enny would store this weapon in the chest again.
Gunlance
"For our next weapons, You'll be taking a look at this world's ingenuity," Enny stated, then pulled out the next weapon, "This is the Gunlance, and unlike the Lance that specializes in frontal assaults. This one is all about firepower,"
The Same Dummy soon rose from the ground and Enny aims her Gunlance towards it. With just one pull of the trigger, the Gunlance fires a round that knocks the dummy a few meters away and impressed audiences. Even the Dragons were surprised when it looked similar to a dragon's breath.
Out of everyone, Dagur was more intrigued than the rest as he was quivering with glee.
"Now it may seem like a dragon breathing fire. In truth, the Gunlance has an ammo capacity," Enny explained, then reloads the Gunlance in a fashion that they don't recognize.
Which made Dagur even more excited.
"But that isn't the only function it holds," Enny revealed, "Apart from a variety of ammo shells, there are two more projectiles. The first is a Wyrmstake Shot, a spike that lodges itself onto monsters, burns around the area, and explodes afterward,"
She demonstrate this by striking the dummy after it stood up, and the spike emerged from the front. Once lodged into the dummy, Enny pulls the Gunlance back, and the spike proceeds to burn the dummy before exploding.
This excites Dagur further while the veterans were fully invested in the weapon.
"And the second projectile is called Wyvern's Fire. After charging the Gunlance for a certain amount of time, it unleashes its most powerful attack," Enny explained, assumes a position, and proceeds with the demonstration.
As Dummy was raised, the Gunlance shortly charges up, then followed by an explosion unlike the previous two. The blast was so strong that it pushed her back from the sheer force of the blade.
With the Dummy destroyed and the Gunlance smoking, Enny placed it onto her shoulder and turns to the audience, "The only problem of this weapon is that every shot, spike, and blast reduces the sharpness. This is due to the heat from overusing the projectile,"
"And yet, it proves itself worthy as a weapon," Dagur stated as he clenched his fist a dramatic way, "I cannot wait to use one!"
Mala would shake her head while Heather just rolled her eyes at this. Gobber agreed with the downsides of this weapon and Enny stores the weapon away.
Switch Axe
"Our next weapon is what's known as a morphing weapon," Enny explained, then pulled out the next weapon, "This is the Switch Axe, a weapon capable of morphing from an axe to a sword."
With a different dummy, Enny demonstrates several swings in its axe form. Eventually, she soon morphs the weapon into its sword form. Comparing the two forms together, they have determined that the Axe Form has Strong and Powerful swings while the Sword Form has swift and reach.
"But that is not all, another one of these features is that it uses a Phial of specialized coating. It varies on what kind of weapon you hold,"
She demonstrates this by morphing the weapon into its sword form and striking at the dummy. The tip lodge itself onto the dummy's chest and gears within the weapon were causing the tip to bob in a rapid motion before setting out an explosion that knocked her back.
With that, she reverts the weapon back into its axe form.
"Now that's an axe I'll take," Snotlout remarked, then cupped his chin as he imagined himself with such a weapon,
Enny would store the weapon in the chest.
Charge Blade
"Our next weapon is another morphing weapon," Enny explained then pulls out the next weapon, "This is the Charge Blade. it makes looks similar to the Sword and Shield, but what makes this weapon so different is that it uses the same Phial System as the Switch Axe.
Enny demonstrates this by performing several attacks on the dummy, then charges the phials into the shield. Then she puts the blade into the shield and morphs it into an axe.
Despite their expectations, they were still amazed by how it looked. Even Hiccup has become interested in the design.
"As for how the Phial System works on this weapon, it is discharged during this form. There is a variety of Phials, and each work differently. One is applied after a monster is hit, and the other is to extend the range," Enny explained, and demonstrates this by slashing toward the dummy in its morphed state,
Once she pulls the blade back, she triggers a mechanism that activates the weapon to its full potential and then struck the dummy. That's when the Phial comes into play as the dummy is subsequently affected by several explosions.
Enny would pull Charge Blade back into its Sword and Shield form and rest the former onto her shoulder. Hiccup could only cupped his chin at the weapon and Astrid smirked before playfully punching him by the shoulder.
Enny then stored the weapon in the chest
Insect Glaive
"As for our last melee weapon, well... It's a bit complicated," Enny said, then pulled out the weapon and a large bug hopped from her chest onto her shoulder, "This is the Insect Glaive,"
"Whoa, what's that thing on your shoulder," Ruffnut questioned,
"This thing on my shoulder is known as a Kinsect, and they come with the weapon," Enny explained, "There are a variety of species of these Kinsect. But I won't show them all since there's too much to cover. What matters is the Weapon,"
Enny twirls the Insect Glaive in a swift and fluid manner, and most of the audience was amazed. The one who grew an interest in this weapon was Heather since this weapon resembled her weapon.
"Now, let's get on with the basics. The Insect Glaive is a double-sided weapon that requires skill and proper footwork. Even the most seasoned hunters will have a hard time mastering this weapon and its mechanics,"
Enny soon uses the Insect Glaive as a pole, and the bottom tip released some air which extends her air time, then pulls off a mid-attack before landing on the ground, "As for how the Kinsects work, they apply certain effects towards the user or against monsters. The effects depend on the type of Kinsect you bring into battle,"
Enny demonstrates this feature by having her Kinsect attack the dummy by whirling her weapon, and the audience saw the Kinsect fly towards the dummy, bite hard, then go back to Enny's shoulder after she recalled it, "And if any of you are worried about the Kinsect turning against you, that chance is quite slim,"
With that, Enny stores the weapon in the chest, "Now that we've covered the melee weapons. Let's proceed with the ranged weapons, which are only three,"
Bow
"The First Weapon is something you're all familiar with, but vastly different in this world," Enny pulls out the first ranged weapon, and impressed the audience with how it is pulled, "This is the Bow,"
"Look at the size of that thing!" Ruffnut commented,
"And those arrows, There's longer than anything I've seen," Tuffnut added,
"Though I am curious as to how people can wield such a weapon, it's too big for anyone to wield," Gobber remarked,
"In your world, yes. But in this world, the weapon is often wielded by hunters who prefer a challenge in a traditional sense," Enny said, quickly notching an arrow, and losing it towards the dummy,
The arrow pierces right through the dummy's chest and stops by the ground. Most were impressed, the rest winched at the mere sight of it.
"However, The Humans of this world have created additional features for this weapon," Enny said, then demonstrates every available feature,
There were coated arrows that can only be applied on specific bows, the Arc Shot which fires a balloon above and rain down several spiked balls on a certain area, and the Dragon Piercer which Enny demonstrates by running the arrow tip against the ground to spark, draws it longer, then releases it.
Even after it pierced the dummy, the arrow continues to fly until it fell onto the ground with the tip completely charred.
Once the demonstration was over, Enny puts the weapon back in the chest after the audience applauded.
Light Bow Gun
"As for our next weapons, these two are vastly foreign to you. But I will explain the simple details to ensure that everyone understands," Enny said, then pulled out the weapon that looked unfamiliar to everyone, "This is the Light Bow Gun. Compared to the Bow, this one uses Shells instead of Arrows,"
"Shells? What kind of weapon fires shells?" Ruffnut said as he and his twin snickered,
"Not Seashells," Enny aims at the Dummy, and fires a round that caught her viewers by surprise, "Projectiles,"
"Whoa," Snotlout remarked,
"As for what these Projectiles are, they are known as Bullets," Enny holds the Light Bowgun with one hand, then shows a round, "A type of ammunition that has yet to exist in your world. If you want a comparison, think of projectiles as dragon fire. However, they are smaller and more concentrated,"
Enny then loads the shell into the Light Bowgun, and cocked it, "The mechanism to this weapon is similar to a Ballista, but they have a longer ammo capacity,"
"Simply magnificent," Gobber remarked, "Is there anything else about this weapon?"
"Well, the weapon can be customized depending on Hunter's preference, a variety of this weapon allows automatic fire or automatic reload to certain ammo types, and the Light Bowgun happens to use a particular ammo known as Wyvernblast," Enny explained, plunging the barrel onto the ground, and fired near the Dummy's feet,
As she pulled the barrel away, the audience soon saw something on the ground, "It works like a trap and when fired upon, or a monster attacks it,"
Enny fires at the dummy once, and the Wyvernblast explodes when the round passes above it.
"Cool!" Snotlout shouted,
"Only a total of three can be fired, but their refillable and easily produced in this world," Enny said,
"I must say, the weapon is truly formidable! If it existed in our world, I can already see the potential when Vikings are armed with this weapon," Gobber remarked,
"But problematic at the hands of enemies," Hiccup remarked,
"True, which is why you should be grateful that this weapon hasn't existed in your world," Enny said as she stored the weapon in the chest,
Heavy Bow Gun
"As for our last weapon, know that it's different despite its namesake," Enny pulls out what appears to be a much larger version of the Light Bowgun, "This is the Heavy Bowgun. Unlike its counterpart, this one fires heavy rounds of shells at the expense of one's mobility,"
Enny fires a single round, and the dummy was sent flying a few meters.
"As usual, the ammo varies on what type of weapon you hold. But its special feature are two separate modes: Wyvernheart and Wyvernsnipe," Enny explained,
"I'm interested to know what these two features can do," Gobber said,
"Gladly, Gobber. Wyvernheart allows the Heavy Bowgun to continuously fire rounds with a high fire rate," Enny demonstrates this by switching the ammo, then proceeds to unload half of the clip towards the Dummy,
In the midst of this, she tries to steady her aim to ensure that the ammo doesn't go up to the sky. Once finished, she lowers the gun and turns to the audience, "What do you think?"
Gobber seemingly sniffed as he wiped a tear off of his eye, "Now that there is a weapon I can respect,"
"We're not done though," Enny said, went to the chest, and pulled out a different Heavy Bowgun, "As for the Wyvernsnipe, this feature allows the Heavy Bowgun to fire a single round that pierces all the way through a target and leaves a trail of explosives,"
Enny creates a much larger dummy, loads the road, then prone on the ground as she aimed at the dummy. Once she pulled the trigger, the round is fired and goes straight through the dummy in a single direction.
A few moments later, the dummy proceeds to explode several times and parts of it are scattered all over the area.
Enny gets up, and hoists the Heavy Bowgun onto her shoulder, "Well, what do you all think of the weapons?"
"I have no words for such fine weaponry," Gobber remarked, "Even the simplest of weapons falls in comparison to my craft. Sometimes I wish I'd never lose my hand to a Monstrous Nightmare,"
"If you like them so much, I could provide a modified version of the weapons for you to use. Whatever fits your preference, I will try to provide you with my utmost capabilities," Enny said,
"I would like that," Gobber said,
"As for the rest of you, do you have any questions before we move on to the next topic?" Enny inquired,
"I do! When will we have our own weapons of destruction," Ruffnut questioned, "Because I totally want a Hammer,"
"Only after I've made the proper measurements, most are too heavy for you guys to use," Enny said, "I'm aware that you Vikings are used to carrying heavy objects. But these are heavier than your average weapons,"
Most seem enthusiastic about Enny's promise and any other questions were set aside. Though Hiccup does have one particular question in mind, something off-topic, "Enny, I'd like to ask you something,"
"What is it?" Enny inquired,
"Your Dragon," Hiccup said, "What kind of species do they belong?"
Enny smirked, then lets out a sharp whistle that made her Wyvern come by her side "Instead of tell, how about it to you?"
Everyone seems tempted to study especially when Hiccup and Fishlegs have their notebooks at the ready. Even their dragons as they eyed on Enny's Yian Garuga...
Quick Note: The Yian Garuga is in the next chapter! The reason is because I didn't want to extend the chapter further.
