After two weeks of winter break breezed through, Duel Academy re-opened again for new semester. Majority of the students had gone to their home for winter break but only few students like Chumley had stayed over.
The gang all met up at card shack which is their usual hanging spot before starting off their day at school and discuss what they did during the winter break. Koyo and Midori were able to spend some quality time with their parents, Misawa had gone to science exhibition in Dubai with his family, Anna had gone to Switzerland to ski with her family, Ryo was able to spend time with her brother Sho and even went for hiking. Slade and his brother Jagger's spend their holiday bulling their little annoying brother Chazz, Taku being the heir of Tatsuragi business had to attend company meeting with his father, Yuna went to stay at a farmhouse owned by her family at a countryside and took part in Boxing Day Shoot.
After having Professor Banner's Alchemy class for the 1st two periods, the 1st year's have Ayukawa-sensei's gym class for the next two periods
Currently gym class was running and everyone presently in class was playing tennis. Koyo and Misawa were playing against Anna and Ryo while Yuna and Ran were playing against Chumley and Slade. With the Ra Yellows and Obelisk, all four players were keeping it together yet the girls were ahead currently.
"Misawa, I hope you got an equation to stop these girls from kicking our butts," Koyo said to his partner. "Otherwise, we'll be through..."
"Relax Koyo" Misawa assured him. "It's our serve and with what I've come up with, we'll win the rest of the way. Just follow my lead..."
"Hey guys, any day now!" Anna called over, ready to go.
"Yeah, hurry up so we can beat you down already!" Ryo taunted.
"Please..." Koyo waved off. "Trust me, when I say this; we're about to make a comeback."
"Whatever you say..." Ryo continued with the taunts.
"Misawa, serve the ball." Koyo said.
"With pleasure!" Koyo launched the ball, with some force that Anna returned to Koyo, and he shot to Ryo that went back to Misawa. While they were having the time of their lives, Slade and Chumley were having trouble against the Obelisk girls. Well mostly Chumley. Slade was just frustrated with playing the game altogether.
"Come on, would someone tell me what does tennis have to do with dueling?" He asked as Chumley returned the ball.
"Everything!" Yuna replied. "Taking turns, thinking on your feet and the more you play..." She paused for a moment to hit the ball in the air, heading right for Slade. "...the better you'll do!"
"In that case..." Slade leaped into the air to deal a powerful strike, but at a bad angle as the tennis ball curved away from the court he was at to the neighboring one, and it was about to hit someone... "Ryo heads up!" He yelled as the ball was closing in on the Obelisk's face... until someone got into the line of fire and deflected it away from her. Too bad, another person was targeted...
Koyo was about to hit the tennis ball he was currently keeping in play, when he heard Misawa's warning...
"Koyo, duck!" Misawa warned him. The Ra Ace duelist saw the ball, and ducked in time but it cause him to put a huge force on the ball he was currently focused on.
"Oh man, Anna, deflect it!" Koyo shouted. She was about to do that, when another person got in the way and swat it away from all the players.
Unfortunately, it headed right for...
"That's Noro..." The Vice-Principal was currently refereeing another tennis match, when two tennis balls came in, one right after the other and nailed him right in the eye and forehead, knocking him down.
Meanwhile, the one who blocked the shot was now visible, a young man with brown hair wearing a tennis uniform made for Duel Academy, landing a few inches in front of Ryo.
"Thank you…" Ryo said in half-surprise to the guy in front of her.
"Anna, Ryo!" Ran and Yuna came over to check on the girls. "You two almost got creamed, are you okay?"
"Yeah, would you like me to carry you to the nurse?" The brown-haired guy said, turning to face the girls, flashing Ran a grin…which ensnared her right off the bat.
"They seem alright to me," The brown-haired guy stood up, also giving a shining grin to the ladies, making Ran swoon even more. "And cute, too."
"No thanks, we're fine." Ryo politely answered.
"But next time, don't interrupt my shot." Anna added pointing to the Ra Yellow boys across the net. "I almost had them!"
Unknowingly, the tennis guy was entranced by Ryo and was staring at her: 'What a hottie!'
Upon receiving no reply, Ryo spoke up, "Do you need us to carry you?"
"Naw, it's just that…I've seen you from Obelisk Blue, not that I've had the chance of talking to you…" The brown-haired man said, who was obviously ensnared by Ryo as he grasped Ryo's hand in a gentlemanly manner before realizing what he was doing, and stopped. "…let alone touch you!"
"Sweet," Ryo said, still not entirely sure what was going on.
"Anyway," The brown-haired man started to walk away."Back to my match…um, what was the score?
Everyone just stared as he went off.
"What the heck was that all about?" Koyo asked, being somewhat irritated with the brown-haired guy for some reason. Slade just shrugged. But then, they felt the hairs on the back of their neck standing up as Noro came up behind them, seething
At the nurse's office, Noro was getting treated for his black eye and forehead bump while ordering Koyo and Slade to come with him for their punishment.
"Look, we're really, really, really, really, really sorry for your eye and forehead," Koyo apologise as he bowed nervosly
"Nope…still not good enough," Noro fumed as Nurse Ayukawa who was there also, swung his head over to her as she doused the black eye in a bag of ice. "A little harder next time, my vertebrae are still intact!" He said angrily to the nurse.
"You know Vice-Principal Noro, if you don't mind me saying so, Koyo and Slade weren't even the ones who hit the balls back at you." Ayukawa stated trying to calm the angry Vice-Principal to no effect.
"I do mind!" Noro retorted, pointing to the boys. "Because they were the ones that started it, I'm sure of it! I saw with my own two eyes!" Fontaine gasped and sweat-dropped as the Vice-Principal corrected himself. "Well one eye now..."
"Like he cares," Slade muttered. "He just wants to punish us because we're not his favorite."
"Care to say that again, you brat?" Noro asked, turned his head in Slade's direction.
The Obelisk was about to yell back at him until Koyo stepped in and said, "Look if you're gonna punish us, we won't play tennis anymore; I don't even like it."
Noro smirked at the Ra. "Well, that can be a fitting punishment for you and Mr. Princeton." He declared. "I'll make you BOTH play and under the tutelage of the tennis captain, to whip you both in shape!"
"I don't believe this..." Slade muttered. "You know we didn't do anything to harm you!"
"And we said we're sorry!" Koyo added.
Noro just got in both of their faces and said, "And you will be...
In the ladies' locker room, Anna, Ryo, and Yuna were putting up their gym clothes in their lockers after having a quick shower and putting their normal academy clothes on.
"I don't think it was fair for the boys to get punished by Vice-Principal Noro" Anna said. "They never hit him."
"You know Noro get him mad and anyone in the way is in trouble." Ryo replied.
Yuna nod in agreement, "Indeed, but I must say even Chronos-sensei is much better than him."
"Still..."
"Hey Ryo" The Trio turned to see Ran, back in her Academy uniforms, with smile.
"We found out about that hot tennis guy for you." Ran said.
"Hey wait a minute, I never asked you to find out about anything!" Ryo replied.
"If she wanted to know, she would've asked him" Yuna added.
"Yeah, yeah..." Ran waved off. "Anyway, that guy is Harrington Rosewood as in the Rosewood Sporting Goods store chain! And not to mention he is an 3rd year Obelisk."
"Okay, so..." Anna said. "He's a top ranking students, great for him."
"Great? He's both rich and total hotties?" Ran said. "That's not great Ryo, he is a boyfriend material and your type!"
Ryo sighed. "Listen, I'm not looking for a boyfriend right now and I didn't like he was invading my personal space..." A
Suddenly, Chumley ran past them, looking very exhausted. "Oh man my grilled cheese" He said, walking across the hallway. "Where's the tennis team?" He then noticed the girls near the locker room and started to jog in place. "Anna, do you know where the tennis team meets?"
"Out on the courts, Chumley." She replied. "What on earth is going on?"
"It's the most unfair thing ever! Vice-Principal Noro making the tennis team co-captains boss Koyo and Slade around as punishment for hitting him with those balls!" Chumley said before walking off again.
"Why's that the most unfair thing ever?" Yuna wondered.
Anna figured it out, "Harrington who jumped in front of us was the one that did it!"
"Service!"
At the tennis courts, the Harrington and his vice-captain Zachary were putting the Obelisk and Ra through the major workout plan as both of them kept serving tennis balls at them with amazing speed. Koyo was able to keep up with Harrington for most of the time, but with the amount of serves Koyo was striking back and his stamina reaching the limit, it wouldn't be long for him to collapse. Slade on the other hand, had a hard time keeping up as Zachary kept serving faster than Slade could react most of the time.
As another ball came in, Koyo and Slade tried to go after but ended up knocking heads, and fell to the ground.
"How long... is this... going on...?" Koyo asked, catching his breath.
"Yeah... they weren't... gonna run... speed drills..." Slade said. As soon as more tennis balls came in, both of them shot back up and tried to keep up, despite feeling like their hearts were going to burst out of their chests. "These guys aren't gonna let up!"
"No kidding!" Koyo replied.
But as both of them were going to swing at another serve, they tripped on stray tennis ball.
"Is it over?" Slade groaned, when he fell.
Both Harrington and Zachary walked over across the net with some stupid grins on their face.
"Come on boys, no pain, no gain!" Harrington said. "You both gotta hustle to build those muscles!"
"Yeah, you need to sweat to become a threat!" Zackary added. "If you don't pick up the pace, you'll never win the race!"
"Alright, alright!" Slade shouted. "Enough with the rhyming clichés, as annoying as they are, I get it!"
"There's no letter 'I' in the word 'Team', Slade!" Zachary said, making some kind of strange pose. "It's the very first rule in tennis!"
"Even when you're playing singles?" Koyo asked. "That's also strange rule for team sports."
"Moving along..." Harrington interrupted, and turned to his blue-haired friend. "Hey Zacy, what kind of drill should they run this time for their forehand and backhand?" And for emphasis, he swung the racquet forward and backward as he said it.
"I think 1000 strokes each should make tennis more their racquet!" Zachary joked. "Get it? Racquet? Racket?" Both the 3rd years were laughing as they returned to the other side.
Chumley, Bastion and Ran were currently watching over at the sidelines.
"I get it, this guy's a total nut." Chumley stated. "The clichés, the crazy practicing...
"They are a bit obsessive." Misawa added.
"Let them obsess... over me!" Ran said, oblivious to the previous two statements.
Meanwhile, Koyo and Slade were continuing their practice until both of them swung off-balance, and knocking them down and sending the tennis balls rolling towards two sets of feet.
"Well..." Slade said, feeling worn out again. "At least were done on the first ten."
"Actually, I'm... on eleven." Koyo replied.
Ran spotted Ryo, Yuna and Anna. "Hey, girls!"
Both Zachary and Harrington turned around at that, to see Anna, Ryo, and Yuna walking up to them.
"Sorry we're all sweaty, girls," Harrington said, as he walked up to them making Zachary rolled his eyes .
"It's just that I've been kicking these guys'-," Harrington was speaking but then noticed he was talking to thin air.
The three girls ignored him and walked over to Koyo and Slade "We've been looking for you guys. I ran into Professor Banner on the way here and he said the annual School Duel is coming up soon" Anna said.
"Really?" Koyo asked
"You mean its around the corner?" Claudio asked.
"I thought I told you this during the break." Ryo said to him.
"Oh right..."
During the conversations, Harrington not pleased and to emphasize it, he looked like he had flaming auras around him, and Zachary looked annoyed.
"A bunch of benchwarmers talking to a girl like Ryo!" Harrington grumbled.
He went over to break up the conversation of the group of five.
"HEY!"
"TIME OUT!"
Anna, Koyo, Ryo, Yuna, and Slade jumped at seeing Harrington storming over.
"You two can't be talking to a first-round pick like Ryo!" Harrington argued. "Both of you couldn't return a bucky-whip with some topspin, so just stay away from my Obelisk pixie!"
"What are you talking about?" Slade asked as both he and Koyo are confused for the moment.
"So, you meant Ryo?"... Koyo asked
"Ryo?" Harrington got right in the middle of them, forcing Koyo to jump back a bit.
"That's it!" Harrington said. "Let, this huddle's over..."
"Good, now get the heck away from us!" Slade said.
"Yeah, we're just having a conversation!" Koyo shouted also. "Beat it!"
After feeling the pain subside, Harrington chuckled. "You really need to know your sports. What my I means to say is, 'when the huddle's over, you make the play, you don't run away!'"
"So you want a team tennis match?" Slade asked. "Fine, Koyo you game?"
"Actually," Harrington interrupted. "I want a duel from Koyo! And the winners gets to become Ryo's fiancée!"
"Whoa, hold up!" Ryo blinked, "Fiancée?!"
"When did this come about!?" Anna asked.
"Just now..." Harrington stepped in.
"I just love weddings!" RAN squealed.
"Yeah, but I'm not sure about arranged ones." Yuna added.
"Well I'm not too clear on the stakes... but I never back down from a challenge, let's throw down boys!" Koyo declared.
"Huh!?"
"Here we go," Misaws sighed.
"Yeah, if Harrington duels like he plays tennis, it'll be rough going for Koyo" Chumley noted.
"This is great," Ran squealed, talking to Ryo. "You have a cute boy dueling for your hands in marriage!"
Ryo sighed and folded her arms, "No one's getting married, Ran..,"
"Well, fine, you're getting engaged, why split hairs?" Anna said with a smile.
"I am not getting engaged either Anna" Ryo snapped, glaring at her friends, "The only reason I haven't walked out of here is because I want to see if the rumors that Harrington is good as Taku are true!"
"Then why are you staying, Anna?" Ran asked, teasingly.
"I wanna see those two tennis goofballs get beat... hard." Anna replied.
"So you DO want Koyo to be your be your fiancée!"
"That's not what I said!" Anna replied, face turning red a bit.
Later, both the guys had their duel disks strapped on their arms and ready to go.
The Duel was extremely short which resulted in Koyo summoning his Elemental HERO Terra Firma and Elemental HERO Startos in one turn as he used Harrington's cards to his advantage.
"She was my first draft pick, my Marquis girlfriend, my soul mate!"
Koyo and Slade sweatdropped as Harrington climbed to his feet and ran out crying for his mother.
"And he wanted to get married? Change his snobby and whiny personalities and he'll have a chance. Koyo lamented"
"That was some awesome dueling Koyo!" Chumley said, running up to the winning team.
"Speaking of gain," Yuna noted to Ran. "Has Koyo gained a wife?"
"So romantic!" Ran said.
Koyo walked up to Ryo, not really hearing the others' talking.
"Ryo I am sorry you had to go through all of this".Koyo apologised
"No worries Koyo! I am glad you were able to defeat that goofball and give him a run for his money". Ryo replied with a sly smile
"You were serious about the stakes!?" Slade asked. "Do you even know what that means?"
"Obivously I know fiancée means engaged to be married but the reason I dueled that jerk was to teach him never to mess with a women and treated them as trophy". Koyo replied as he huffed
Two weeks after new semester begins rumors about Duel Giants began to spread around DA like wildfire. They are bigger than a house and are clad in a huge coat that appears to be stolen jackets of Obelisk Blues. They mostly target Obelisk Blues at night time and defeat them using the Ante Duel rule where their opponents have to give their deck and jacket if they lose to them. They even make Obelisk look like jokes who can't even Duel properly and only got here because of their parents wealth. Professor Chronos doesn't seem to be happy that his students are getting defeated one after another.
One night the gang Koyo, Misawa, Chumley, Taku, Ryo, Yuna, Anna, and Slade were having a chat on the lakeside of Obelisk Blue dorm. Currently they were discussing about the Duel Giants rumors.
"What? What Duel Giant?" Koyo blinked hearing that.
"He is a dangerous duelist who defeat Obelisk Blue students at midnight using the Ante Duel rule. Whoever loses to him they get their deck stolen and Chronos-sensei is asking me, Slade, Anna, Ryo, and Yuna to go after them." Taku answered.
"What!?" Chumley asked shocked.
"Oh yeah, I think Misawa told me about him." Koyo recalled over. "They duel Obelisks at midnight and also stole their blazers after defeating them. I wonder where did he and his friend go because I had a feeling on who it could be."
"Well, let's try to find him tonight but I have a bad feeling about this though." Taku replied as he frowned.
"Oh wait." Koyo checks his PDA to see the time
"What's up Koyo?" Ryo asked him.
"Well its almost midnight." Koyo turned to Taku. "How about we start planning?"
The gang all nodded.
Later
The gang are walking around to find the Duel Giant after it hit midnight. Soon they hear someone screaming in fear.
"What was that?" Chumley asked timidly
Koyo frowned before turning to Anna as they nodded and ran towards the scene. They ran over finding a defeated Obelisk Blue who looked stunned and traumatised with his deck scattered all around him.
"What happened to you?" Yuna asked
"The... the Duel...Giant...He att." The Obelisk replied quaking with fear
"Where did he go?"
He pointed above near the bushes on right side. Seeing that Koyo took a deep breath before giving a determined look and ran over with the gang following him and when they arrived the Duel Giant turned over where the rumors turned out to be true. He did turned out to be a gigantic figure with Obelisk Blue Blazers wrapped around him with a hat and sunglasses.
"You must be the Duel Giant?" Koyo asked, "I challenge you to a duel".
"Is there anything you have to offer?" The giant asked.
"Winged Kuriboh". Koyo took the card from his holster to show to the Giant as a proof.
The Giant nod, "Fine then I accept your challenge".
Koyo nodded at that, "So who is going first Beir or Beauregard?"
The Duel Giant flinced a bit before a voice called out to them. "Beir! Beauregard! We know its you two in that disguise." Misawa jumped from the tree, while the Duel Giants removed their disguise.
They were a duo of Ra Yellow boys who appeared to be familiar with Koyo and Misawa. Beir had a bowl haircut and appears to be extremely short and has a headphone on his head, while Beauregard is a tall giant with standard short brown hair who has both the ears peirce and is holding a microphone on his right hand.
"Why are you two going after Obelisks?" Misawa demanded
"Well I guess that explains how you figured that out about us." Brier replied. "Well you see I despise Obelisk Blues because they're a big jerk who look down on people below them. They mock me for being a shy shrimp and I couldn't duel properly because of them. I became a coward because of them and whenever I duel and draw a card they always mock me. I had enough of their taunts and mistreatment so I met Beauregard who was also bullied by them for similar reasons. So we both decide to join forces, exact revenge and teach those scum Obelisk a lesson to never mess with Ra or people beneath them by using the Ante Duel rule". Beir explained as he threw away his headphones
"By using Ante Duel rule?" Misawa asked before glaring at them.
"But that's illegal". Taku address.
"Look I understand how you feel about being weak, but going to the extreme level by stealing Obelisk Blues deck and jacket is totally unacceptable". Koyo snapped.
"Koyo just because you're awesome duelist doesn't mean you understand us. How about a bet if I win I will weager your deck but if you win then I will handover those scumbags belonging." Beir challenged which made Koyo nod in agreement.
The duel was extremely short which lasted in two turns, and it ended with Koyo Fusion summoning Elemental HERO Soldier and Lady Heat to fusion summon Elemental Hero Gaia.
After the defeat Beir and Beauregard realised the error of their ways and return the deck and blazers to the original owners whom they have stolen. Some Obelisks have become nicer than before after getting a taste of their own medicines. Koyo and the gang promised them that they won't reveal their identities and let them go.
The next day much to Koyo's cargin he and his friends had to do their homework which they missed while hunting down Duel Giants.
"So let me get this straight. You found the Duel Giant, dueled him, try to catch and he escaped!?" Chronos-sensei asked eyeing Koyo who is working on his homework with Misawa, and Anna already finished with theirs.
"Unfortunately that's what happened." Misawa confirmed.
"And you said that the cards taken by the ante have returned! Chronos asked
"Yup, every last one of them. Anna smiled.
"How did they returned?" Chronos asked the obvious.
"I don't know." Koyo admitted. "The Duel Giant just disappeared."
"So you found the Duel Giant, and he escapes. Then the cards were stolen, and their returned." Chronos said trying to wrap his mind around things.
"First I have no homework, and now-"
"KEEP WRITING!"
Staring into the classroom, Yuna and Taku were seeing Koyo doing the giant stack of homework papers.
"He's taking credit for my hard work?" Taku whined.
"Well, he was the one that had to find the guy," Yuna told him. "Plus, he figured out the Duel Giant's identity."
"True, but still... HE beat the Duel Giant?"
"Calm down, Wheeler fanboy." She patted her friend on the shoulder. "Come on, Ayukawa-sensei's gym class is coming up."
"Okay..." Taku said, "Hey did Brier and Beauregard give back those cards?"
"Uh-huh!"
A week after the Duel Giant Incident, every week in Duel Academy there is a sandwich day, where students gather at the Card Shack to try out different flavors of sandwiches. They can be either delicious, good or taste horrid. But every there is a special type of sandwich which many students are craving for that is the Golden Eggwich.
During break time Koyo, Misawa, Taku, Slade, and Yuna all gathered at the Card Shack to try out the Golden Eggwich.
"What's going on?" Koyo asked Taku.
"You don't know Koyo every week in Card Shack there is a sandwich day where we get to try out different flavors." Taku grinned as he explaied.
"Sandwiches?" Slade inquired walking up to them. "Oh I see, that explains the large bin... they are all wrapped up correct?"
"Yeah! And none of them are labeled which is a good thing!" Taku grinned.
"How is that a good thing, have they considered someone could be allergic?" Misawa questioned.
"Actually they have somany varieties of sandwich that you guys can tryout like vegan sandwich, ice cream sandwich, Lemon Pepper, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Mild, Louisiana Rub, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, Spicy Korean Q, Original Hot, Cajun, Mango Habanero, Grilled Cheese, Egg Salad, Beef Grill, Atomic and Plain and all those kind of stuffs but the most famous one is Golden Eggwich one. You see once a week a roaster lay golden egg and they use it not to sell or make profit but make it into a sandwich which are super delicious but there is a downside to this. There is only one Golden Eggwich sandwich which the lucky one can draw once a week." Taku explained with a grinn
"... yeah I'll pass." Misawa admitted.
"Same." Yuna nodded. "What about you Slade?"
"I don't see why I can't." Slade admitted.
"Let me see here." Koyo grinned grabbing one, took of the wrapper and took a bite... He chewed it and it was good, "Double Decker Chicken Burger! Taste good not bad."
Slade node before grabbing one of his own and taking a bite.
"Well?" Misawa asked.
Slade coughed a bit, "Sardines yuck!" he slump, trying his best not to puke. They knew how much he hated fish, that was pretty much the only things he would not eat.
"Ouch, sorry man." Taku said.
"Better to get a bad draw here rather than in dueling, am I right?" Anna said as she, and Ryo walked in with Sandwiches of their own.
"Did either of you get this Golden Eggwich?" Yuna inquired.
"No we didn't." Ryo answered, "Talk about bad drawing."
"Alexis? RYO?" Taku looked at both the girls and noticed that they each held two sandwiches in their respective hands, "Oh I get it. One of them must be the Eggwich?" Meanwhile Koyo did a spit take, and almost choked on his food.
"How could he say that!?" Koyo said as for some reason he was…envy? No, it must be from the shock from the question. He turned around to see Slade, Misawa, Yuna, and Taku with a shocked expression, the other students' jaw dropped and Anna and Ryo blushed.
"No, we did not! We were trying to practice our draws!" Anna retorted
Tome-san came from the counter of the Card Shack to defend the two poor Obelisk Girls, "She is telling the truth, Koyo. No one has drew an Eggwich for 5 weeks now."
"5 Weeks? How is that possible?" Slade asked but Taku came up with a plan.
"I have a plan!" Taku said, catching everyone's attention. "How about we wait until night to see what happens with the Eggwich, so when we see what happens we can report it to Principal Samejima?"
"Great idea, Taku!" Slade agreed with everyone including Tome-san joining on the plan.
The school bell rang, meaning break time was finished and they had to go to the classroom. So the first years went in towards Professor Banner's Alchemy class, which was an excuse to see him making explosions, which backfired, a lot.
A Few Hours Later after the classes were finished, at the card shack, the gang hung out in Tome-san's office Koyo and Misawa were playing a card game other than Duel Monsters for once with Chumley and Midori watching them. Slade and Taku were playing Duel Monsters just not the duel disks. Anna was looking at her phone going through instagram and liking posts, Ryo was reading a book on her latest history homework and Yuna was putting nail polish on her nails.
"It's coming, and..." Koyo grabbed a card from the hand Misawa has as Koyo grinned, "Yep two aces! Got ya!"
"Hero boy beat ya again, Misawa?" Slade asked, playing a monster card.
"Yeah..."
"No one can easily defeat my brother in a card game." Midori sneered
"At least it wasn't a big thing like losing something valuable..." Taku added, as he played a couple of spells.
"So guys," Chumley said. "When this sandwich thief comes around, you think he'll have anything on him?"
"Chumley, the guy steals egg sandwiches not grilled cheese!" Koyo reminded. "Tell him, Ryo."
"It's true, Chum." She responded, not taking her eyes out of her book.
"Hey, what's Yuna doing over there?" Misawa whispered to the rest of the gang.
"She is getting her pedicure done..." Anna guessed as she was posting a advertisement of upcoming exhibition which is set to take place in DA to display the deck of King of Games Yugi Muto on her instagram story.
'I'm waiting for this thief to show up.' Yuna thought. 'Who knows; this guy could have something to with my cousin and all the others...'
"Who wants some stake out snacks?" Tome-san came into the office with some pastries.
"Is it grilled cheese?" Chumely asked hopefully until he saw the tray. "Aww, what are those?"
"You know, there's more food than grilled cheese." Slade said. "It's like this guy I read about being obsessed with ramen!"
"It looks tasty to me." Taku said, referring to the tray.
"Thanks," Tome-san said. "These are my special stuff pastries with 3 flavors: strawberry, chocolate and lemon custard."
"Thanks, Tome-san" Misawa thanked.
"Uh..."
"Is this about grilled cheese?" Koyo interrupted Chumely as he shook his head. "You really need to cut down on that. Anyway, I need to know where the lemon custards are at."
"It's right..."
"Wait a sec..." Yuna said. "How about we draw for which pastry we want? I'm looking to get strawberry!"
"You want to draw pastries like cards?" Chumley asked.
"Actually, that sounds like a good idea." Koyo said.
"Go for it, Yuna." Anna encouraged.
"Alright, wish me luck!" Yuna reached out for the nearest one and took a bite out of it. "Strawberry!"
"And on your first try!" Midori added. "Way to go!"
"It's good to know I still got it!" Yuna said.
"Stop bragging, Yuna." Koyo said, reaching for one on the side and bit into it. "Crud, I got chocolate!"
Everyone had a good laugh until they heard something knock over inside the shop.
"Looks like he's here..." Midori whispered. "Hide!"
Tome-san turned off the lights and hid behind a counter. The girls hid inside the lockers and the boys hid behind some shelves. More noises were made outside as everyone got out of hiding and peer through the one way window.
"It's the thief..." Koyo whispered. They saw the sliding doors being lifted up by someone with a lot of muscles, and having little difficulty doing that.
"He's an animal!" Chumley whispers as the person crawls under the door and goes over to the sandwich bin.
"Let's get him!" Ryo said as they opened the door and cut on the lights.
"Drop the eggwich you thief!" Koyo said to the guy. He was very muscular and only wearing torn up khakis and had long black hair.
The guy let out a Tarzan yell and then rolled out the shack with the sandwich bin, breaking the door.
"Man, he's really been hitting the gym to do that!" Taku said.
"Talk later, we need to catch that guy!" Midori added. "Koyo, Misawa, Chumley, Slade and Tome-san follow his trail, while Anna, Ryo, Yuna, Taku and I head to the school entrance to cut him off."
"Right!" Everyone said.
Midori's group went to the entrance and then looked around.
"Anybody see him?" Taku asked.
"No." The girls said.
"We should head to the forest..." Anna was interrupted by someone speeding in front of them. "Was that him?"
Yuna gasped. "I think so he dropped one of those sandwiches!" She pointed out, seeing a wrapper on the ground.
"He ran to the left, let's go!" Ryo said as the girls and Taku ran after him.
Meanwhile, the Tarzan guy was climbing up a waterfall to escape Koyo and his group, after almost running into them. By the time they caught up he was halfway up the falls.
"Who is this dude?" Koyo wondered.
"DAMON!" The wild man stopped as SlifRa's turned to see Tome-san finally catching up.
"You know him?" Misawa asked.
"Take your time to answer," Chumley said, catching his breath. "I need to rest."
"Yes, I know him!" She said, looking up at the wild man. "And he knows better than stealing!" The wild man slipped off the waterfall and fell into the water. Once he popped out of the water, Tome-san got a good look at him. "Wow, you've changed!"
"Yes I change, I change for better!" Damon said, in gruff voice.
"Not your grammar." Chumley muttered.
"Tome-san, how do you know him?" Koyo asked the store owner.
"From school; he used to be an Obelisk Blue." She replied.
"Boy, they had a chill dress code back then, huh?" Slade said, about the guy's attire.
"No, he was different the last year." She replied. "Then one day, he just vanished. Damon always visited me at the card shack, especially on sandwich days. But he always was bad in drawing the right one."
"Are you sure he's the same person?" Slade asked. "This guy always gets the good ones."
Damon laughed. "Not same person, I new person now. I live in the nature, I hone my skills." He said.
"Why'd ya leave?" Koyo asked.
"When I Obelisk, I test good but have difficulty drawing right cards." He replied. "My draw ruin me each time! I do everything to work hard but nothing! But as I watch nature, like waves crashing back and forth. Then, hit me!"
"You want me to hit you?" Koyo asked.
"No! IT hit me!" Damon corrected. "Just like I know what come next in wave, I realize I know what come next in cards! Must simply be in tune with nature! This why I train with nature, to learn, to be at one with nature, to be at one with the draw! I get very good, but one way to be sure I take eggwiches. This why I take them these past weeks, not because I thief!" He starts to cry.
"We understand." Tome-san said, feeling sympathetic.
"I don't." Slade stated. "Don't get me wrong, I know you're legit with the eggwiches but I like those eggwiches as much as the next guy so let's duel! If I win, you stop swiping them. If you win, they're all yours!"
Damon smiled. "Fine, but I expert drawer! There no way you can beat me!"
"Hey, I'm no slouch either!" Slade replied.
"It on!" Damon said, reaching behind a rock to grab his duel disk. Slade had his already as they both turned them on.
About a week later, Damon had returned to Duel Academy, in his former Obelisk uniform and his mane cut. He didn't do the Tarzan thing, or steal the eggwiches anymore, just as he promised. Now, he and Koyo were in the store, headed for the bin. They also saw Ryo, Anna, Taku, and Yuna digging through the bin as well.
"Did anyone draw the eggwich yet?" Koyo asked Tome-san.
She shook her head smiling, "No one yet!"
Damon and Koyo smiled before reaching into the bin together. Only, it was in vain.
"I got it! I got the eggwich!"
Both of them looked up to see Anna holding up a sandwich triumphantly, a large smile on her face.
"And it's mine now!" Taku swooped in and took it. "Thanks!" And he ran out of the shack with Anna hot on his trail, plus everyone laughing at the Obelisks.
Meanwhile in an unknown location
At an lonely mansion an elderly man who appears to be stuck in a water cylinder with oxygen mask on his face looks at the seven shadow charm that looks like millennium items that were glowing in a jewellery box. "What is Sheppard thinking? He is challenging me that he will send his students to stop me. How pathetic! Before the current academic years ends, I must summon the seven Shadow Riders to Academy's island and make an end to their plans".
This was a non duel chapter where I referenced all the filler duels in this chapter and I will make a reference to Dimitri's duel in the next chapter. Next chapter is going to be some filler chapter before we get into the School Duel arc.
