Walking around the flat Graham tries the Doctor again, "hey Doc, Graham again, call number three. This is very important; it's about getting Manisha back to Ace. We know you have experience with interdimensional travel. Nyssa thinks she figured out an equation. Please get back to me."
Graham stops pacing as he hears keys and some humming, it has been 4 months since they had said I love you and 1 month since they exchanged keys. "Hey Babe," Ace says as she enters the flat knowing Ryan has left the London area again for his channel. She looks at Graham, "what's wrong, you look frazzled."
"It's the next part of what Nyssa and I have been working on."
"Oh." Ace looks at the floor.
Graham lifts up her chin with the knuckle of his right index finger, "Ace I promised I would be honest with about everything to a point. We are just waiting for the last piece to fall into place, then you can have your daughter back in your arms." He gives her a small kiss then wraps her in his arms as she starts to shake with tears. "It's ok Ace."
"I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I can't help it. Two people who I care about most in the world and love. One of them I fall in love with more each day, is trying their best to get my daughter the one who I love most in the world."
"I would do anything to make you happy Ace."
"Graham, with you I have been happier than I have been in over a decade."
"I am glad that I make you happy. You make me happy too." He wipes some of the dried tears from her face. "If I could I would steal a star, but I know the Doc wouldn't allow that, even if it's to make their surrogate daughter slash one of their best friends, happy."
"What is the last piece?"
"Someone with experience in interdimensional travel."
"The Doctor?"
"The one in the same, they know about Manisha, they have a TARDIS which we know what it stands for."
"They couldn't do anything when Rose was trapped according to Mickey."
"They didn't have Nyssa on their side or a determined boyfriend."
"According to Martha the Doctor was in love with Rose."
"Captain Jack did mention Rose, but that was all we heard. They still use your Nitro. They even introduced me to it."
"Was the Doctor playing matchmaker with us from the beginning?" Ace ponders.
"Maybe, though my Doc seemed to understand my grief, considering how she tried to reassure me when I was afraid of getting cancer again says something."
"The Professor has lost so many people."
"Kate has talked about a wife named River."
"Tegan and Nyssa also lost a young boy named Adric who Neeka named her son after."
"The one human emotion they fully understand is grief."
"They do."
"I think they would love to help us out anytime considering when they call we always jump to help."
"Even when it takes jumping off a building with Cybermen shooting at your parachute to be in the TARDIS and it was one of us flying the ship to be in it."
"Or a volcano ready to blow due to the two of us being wicked."
"The Professor really was shocked to see you."
"They sure we were." Finally realizing that they are still standing in the middle of the room, they move to the couch. "How was your day?"
"It is about time for a Gala."
"I am your date; I hope you know that."
"I do, hopefully forever date, but we can talk more on that later."
"Ace, I can promise you, I will be your date as long as you want me to be." Ace smiles at that statement.
"I know we have been talking about this since not long after we started dating, but you are going to need a suit."
"One that my Ace girlfriend can help me find?"
"She will love to help you find one, and just a black suit and black tie."
"Nothing to match what you are wearing?"
"I don't know what I am wearing yet?" Ace can feel the heat from Graham's body as they settle into their normal position, her head on his shoulder and her feet tucked under her, "minus a dress of course."
"I am sure that whatever dress you pick is going to look absolutely fantastic. What about the dress you wore when we said I love you for the first time?"
"You sure, that dress was bought with you in mind," she bites her bottom lip.
"That dress does look amazing on you, and the feel between my fingers is more than words can describe."
"What about actions?" Graham leans down and starts to kiss her, the next thing they are horizontal.
"We." Kiss, "should," kiss "move", kiss "this," kiss, "to," kiss, "the," kiss, "bedroom." Ace grabs Graham's hand and they move to the bedroom.
Hours later they are at the table eating a quick dinner. "You sure you want me to wear that dress now?"
"No, when is this Gala?"
"6 weeks from today. Nyssa and Tegan are going to be there and maybe Donna and Shaun."
"It will be good to see them again."
"At least out in public it will be easy not to talk about the one person we shouldn't talk about."
"Yep."
"Graham, I need to say thank you for doing everything you can."
"Whatever for?"
"Mentioning the Doctor made me remember our conversation from earlier."
"About me contacting the Time Lord?"
"Yes," Ace reaches her hand across the table, "you are doing so much and so is Nyssa to get my girl back here. That makes me love you even more Graham O'Brien."
"Well, then we are matched, because everything you have been doing with Ryan, is making me love you even more."
"All I am doing is putting him in contact with some influencers that have gone through A Charitable Earth."
"I know he appreciates it. His channel has grown a lot since then. He doesn't have to do as much work with UNIT now."
"Does he not like it?"
"He sometimes enjoys it, but prefers to make videos."
"Well he is happy right?"
"He is. Did I tell you that he agreed in less than a second when I asked him if it was ok for me to give you a key."
"No, you didn't."
"When I got the call that your key was ready was when I was out with Tegan. The innuendos she said about me giving you an official key and not just telling you where my spare was, or just the spare when the two of you were staying with me."
"Next to my car and the flat key, your key is the most used."
"We don't spend a day apart at all. Even the days I go hang out with Tegan or Nyssa, we have the nights."
"That we do."
"Your old friends still haven't got back to you?"
"They haven't, and I was looking forward to you meeting them."
"Maybe they will see something about us when we go to the Gala."
"Maybe, but if they don't want to meet my love, when I am deliriously happy, then it's their loss."
"It is and we have some pretty amazing friends."
"That we do. What do we want to do tonight?"
"Fall asleep to a movie?"
"I like that idea, and only watching and sleeping."
"Correct, we have work in the morning, and I have a Gala to plan." They finish their dinner and set up a movie and halfway through the movie they are asleep.
