Scene 78
In space near Coruscant, Thrawn's fleet comes out of hyperspace near the republic blockade which is greatly limited due to the situation surrounding Cydenal. On the bridge of the republic's blockade flagship, the bridge commander named
Trook is addressed by one of the tech officers who is monitoring the screens.
Tech officer: Commander Trook! Several destroyers from the imperial union's fleet have just appeared on radar!
Trook: It's an invasion! Alert all troops and raise the shields! Prepare for an immediate counterattack!
Tech officer: Yes sir!
On the "Intimidator" Lieutenant Branix approaches Thrawn on the bridge.
Branix: Admiral, we have reached the blockade on Coruscant. What are your orders?
Thrawn: Activate froward deflector shields. We will not take prisoners. Destroy the blockade, and prepare for a full ground invasion. Today we begin to return a long lost glory to the the old empire.
Branix: Yes Admiral. (To a crew technician)
Raise the front shields...prepare to attack!
Thrawn's fleet apoaches the blockade and the two sides engage eachother! Enemy and Republic fighters alike exit from the cruisers and also begin a massive dog fight!
Cut to:
Trook: (To a tech officer.) Get me through to Chancellor Solo.
Tech officer. Right away sir!
The tech officer calls Leia via a hologram on his computer. She answers immediately.
Trook: Chancellor Solo, Thrawn's fleet has attacked our blockade! He appears to be conducting a full scale invasion of the planet! We are engaging them now!
Leia: I was afraid this would happen. They're taking advantage of our moment of weakness. Put me through to Thrawn right away.
Trook: Yes Chancellor.
Trook puts the transmission through to Thrawn's ship so Leia can speak with him.
Leia: Grand Admiral Thrawn...this is a cowardly move...even for you...I can't say it surprises me however.
Thrawn: Ah Chancellor Solo...just like you I seize every opportunity I can. Enjoy your rule for the next few hours...soon we will have control of the republic. The rise of the new empire begins today!
Leia: I thought a snake like you may try something like this! Thankfully we're prepared! (To commander Trook) Commander Trook, call in our reserves!
Trook: Yes chancellor!
Just then several republic cruisers come out of hyperspace behind Thrawn and have him seemly surrounded!
Leia: It's over Thrawn! Did you really think I would leave my world so unguarded?
Thrawn: No Chancellor...I did not think you would be so unwise as to leave your world so unguarded! That is why I have prepared as well! (To Lieutenant Branix) Lieutenant...when your ready!
Branix: Yes sir!
A few seconds later several more Star destroyers come out of hyperspace behind Leia's reinforcements! A look of fear and disbelief comes over Leia.
Leia: No!
Thrawn: (To Leia) You see Chancellor...I have well calculated your every move. You are now outflanked and outgunned and there is nothing your pitiful republic can do but die. Soon you yourself will be at my mercy...but don't expect any... goodbye Chancellor.
Thrawn ends his transmission and continues his assault.
Thrawn: (To Lieutenant Branix) Continue with the assault Lieutenant...Thier reinforcements are surrounded. Take them down first and then we will deal with the blockade. Leave no cruiser standing!
Branix: Yes admiral!
Cut to:
As soon as the transmission cuts off, Leia rushes over to Han.
Leia: Han...!
Han: I know...I heard everything!
Leia: We have no choice...Get every man we can spare to Coruscant right away.
Han: You're right...and your coming too...
Leia: Shouldn't you be concerned with my safety since I'm the Chancellor?
Han: Hey! I know you'd join the fight no matter what I say!
Leia: You know we all too well! Alright let's get moving!
