"Open fire!" Jefferson ordered just before he and the guards began shooting at the Ood. Rose, Klary and Scooti huddled behind them as they did. The sound of the firing guns adding to the pounding in her head.

"We're stabilising," Zach called out. "We've got orbit."

With the Ood down, Rose rushed over to the comm. "Doctor? Doctor, can you hear me? Doctor, Ida, are you there?"

Open door 25

The moment Klary heard the computer, she pulled Scooti off to the side as Jefferson and the guard whirled around, prepared to shoot. As it opened, Danny rushed in, hands raised once he saw the guns aimed at him. "It's me!" He turned as the men lowered their rifles and began to lock the door. "But they're coming."

Close door 25

"It's the Ood. They've gone mad."

"How many of them?"

"All of them! All fifty!"

"Danny, out of the way. Out of the way!" He pushed the frantic man away.

"But they're armed!" He rapidly explained. "It's the interface device. I don't know how, but they're using it as a weapon."

Open door 25

As Jefferson opened the door, the leading Ood stuck its transmitter onto the female guard's head. The woman let out a pained scream as she collapsed onto the ground. Dead. Jefferson began to shoot. "Seal door 25. Seal door 24. Seal door 23!" He called out.

"Jefferson, what's happening there?"

"I've got very little ammunition, sir. How about you?"

"All I've got is a bolt gun. With… er, all of one bolt. I could take out a grand total of one Ood. Fat lot of good that is."

"Given the emergency, I recommend strategy nine."

"Strategy nine, agreed. Right, we need to get everyone together. Rose? What about Ida and the Doctor? Any word?"

"I can't get a reply. Just nothing. I keep trying, but it's-"

The Doctor's voice came through though it was somewhat garbled with static. "No, sorry, I'm fine. Still here."

"You could've said, you stupid-"

She was interrupted by the feedback. "Whoa. Careful! Anyway, it's both of us. Me and Ida. Hello. But the seal opened up. It's gone. All we've got left is this chasm."

"How deep is it?"

"Can't tell. It looks like it goes down forever."

"The pit is open. That's what the voice said."

"But there's nothing. I mean… There's nothing coming out?"

"No, no. No sign of the Beast."

"It said Satan."

"Come on, Rose. Keep it together."

"Is there no such thing? Doctor? Tell me there's no such thing." Klary wanted to ease the blonde's worries but remained silent. She knew whatever she said to her would be ill received. Besides, she knew her words wouldn't have particularly brought comfort.

"Ida? I recommend that you withdraw. Immediately."

"But we've come all this way."

"Okay. That was an order. Withdraw! When that thing opened, the whole planet's shifted. One more inch and we fall into the black hole. So this thing stops right now."

"But it's not much better up there with the Ood."

"I'm initiating strategy nine, so I need the two of you back up top immediately. No- ugh." Ida had cut the connection. Zach called out to her but received no reply. The others in the drilling room glanced at each other as they waited for Ida or the Doctor to respond.

It was a few moments before the Doctor's voice came over the comms. "Klary, we're coming back."

Klary moved over to the comm, ignoring Rose's glare. "Yeah, not so much, hun."

"What's that mean?"

"It means-"

Rose cut in, shoving the brunette out of the way. "Best news I've heard all day." She turned to see Jefferson cock his rifle and aim it at Toby. "What're you doing?"

"He's infected. He brought that thing on board. You saw it."

"Yes and no," Klary voiced though she was ignored. She huffed out a breath but moved back to Scooti's side.

Rose went to stand beside him, face screwed in disbelief. "Are you gonna start shooting your own people now, Is that what you're going to do? Is it?"

"If necessary."

"Well then, you'll have to shoot me if necessary, so what's it going to be?" Rose glared at the older man. Their eyes locked for a moment before he conceded. Rose kneeling down beside the cowering man. "Look at his face. Whatever it was, is gone. It passed into the Ood. You saw it happen. He's clean."

"Any sign of trouble, I'll shoot him. "Jefferson snapped before walking off.

Klary grabbed onto Rose's arm to keep her from approaching the trembling man but the blonde wrenched her arm away and went over to him, a hand on his knee. "Are you all right?"

"Yeah. I don't know."

"Can you remember anything?"

"Just, it was so angry... It was fury and rage and death. It was him. It was the devil."

"Come on." Rose hugged him. His gaze met Klary's, a sinister smirk on his lips. Said woman glared back but looked away as the hug ended and Rose moved back to the comms.

"Okay, we're in. Bring us up."

"Ascension in three, two, one." As Jefferson hit the command, the base's power went out. The room enveloped in darkness. Before anyone could question, a voice was heard.

"This is the darkness. This is my domain." Klary watched as the monitors flickered to images of the Ood. The gaze of the others followed as the dark and gravelly voice continued. "You little things that live in the light, clinging to your feeble suns which die in the-"

"That's not the Ood. Something's talking through them."

"Only the darkness remains."

"This is Captain Zachary Cross Flane of Sanctuary Base Six, representing the Torchwood archive. You will identify yourself."

"You know my name."

"What do you want?"

"You will die here. All of you. This planet is your grave."

"It's him," Toby muttered as he rocked back and forth. Body vibrating with fear. "It's him. It's him."

"If you are the Beast, then answer me this. Which one, hmm?" The Doctor asked. "Cos the universe has been busy since you've been gone. There's more religions than there are planets in the sky. The Arkiphets, Quoldonity, Christianity, Pash Pash, New Judaism, San Claar, Church of the Tin Vagabond. Which devil are you?"

"All of them."

"What, then you're the truth behind the myth?"

"This one knows me as I know him. The killer of his own kind."

"How did you end up on this rock?"The Doctor's voice hard as he addressed the Beast. The death of his planet a sore subject. Something he utterly refused to speak of to anyone. Something mentioned only in passing.

"The Disciples of the Light rose up against me and chained me in the pit for all eternity."

"When was this?"

"Before time."

"What does that mean?"

"Before time."

"What does 'before time' mean?"

"Before light and time and space and matter. Before the cataclysm. Before this universe was created."

"That's impossible. No life could have existed back then."

"Is that your religion?"

"It's a belief."

"You know nothing. All of you, so small. The Captain, so scared of command. The soldier, haunted by the eyes of his wife. The scientist, still running from Daddy. The little boy who lied. The virgin. The girl trying to escape her past. The lost girls, so far away from home. One unwanted by those she held dear. The valiant child who will die in battle so very soon."

"Doctor, what does that mean?" Rose's voice small, faltered with fear.

"Rose, don't listen."

"What does it mean?"

"You will die and I will live." The image of the Ood was replaced by a roaring horned beast.

"What the hell was that?" Danny yelled.

"I had that thing inside my head."

"Doctor, what did it mean?"

"What do we do? Jefferson?"

"Everyone needs to calm down!" Klary yelled but was once again ignored. This time though, one person turned to her.

"Klary?" Scooti asked. Her eyes wide in fear as their eyes met. Her hand a vice grip on the other girl's arm. Klary gently rubbed the frightened woman's hand. A failing effort of comfort.

"Captain? What's the situation on strategy nine?"

"Zach, what can we do?"

"The planet, the orbit, the black hole. Everything's true!"

"Captain, report."

"We've lost pictures, Mister Jefferson."

"Doctor, how did it know all of-"

"Did anyone get an anal-"

"Jefferson."

"Oh my goddess," Klary hissed. The pounding in her head getting worse. "Shut up."

"Stop."

"What did it mean?"

"Everyone just stop."

"What do we do?"

"Report."

"Shut the fuck up," Klary bellowed. Voice louder than the others. Surprised, everyone grew silent.

"Thank you, love. Now, you want voices in the dark, then listen to mine. That thing is playing on very basic fears. Darkness, childhood nightmares, all that stuff."

"But that's how the devil works."

"Or a good psychologist."

"Not to interrupt, hun, but you might want to get out of the capsule. Like now."

"Yeah, but how did it know about my father?"

"Okay, but what makes his version of the truth any better than mine, hmm? Cos I'll tell you what I can see. Humans. Brilliant humans. Humans who travel all the way across space, flying in a tiny little rocket right into the orbit of a black hole, just for the sake of discovery. That's amazing! Do you hear me? Amazing, all of you. The Captain, his Officer, his elder, his juniors, his friends. All with one advantage. The Beast is alone. We are not. If we can use that to fight against him-" His speech interrupted by a resounding bang.

"Doctor, we lost the cable! Doctor, are you all right? Doctor!"

"Comms are down."

"Doctor? Doctor, can you hear me?"

"I've still got life signs, but we've lost the capsule."

"Say something. Are you there?"

Klary turned to the frantic blonde. "Rose, everything's down. They can't hear you. Not right now."

The blonde whirled around. Eyes wild with anger as she approached Klary. "You knew! You knew and you let him go!" Her words accompanied with a malicious shove. One that forced Klary to stumble back a few feet. Scooti's hand ripped from her arm. "You're such a bitch! How could you send him down there?"

A humourless laugh left the brunette. "Send him? I didn't send him anywhere. Last I checked, the Doctor is a grown ass man."

"Oh please. You don't even care about him. You're just using him. You're nothing but a selfish bitch. No wonder no one wants you around."

"Get your head out of your ass, Rose Tyler. Don't act as if you know anything about me." She turned away from her. The eyes of the room's other inhabitants on her. Klary watched as their eyes moved from her to the blonde behind. Scotti's call. Klary found herself on the floor. Her chin violently hit the metal. The taste of copper in her mouth. With a groan, she wiped at her mouth. Blood on her hand. Eyes narrowed, Klary stood with Scooti's help. Body slowly turned to Rose. "The next time you put your hands on me will be the very last. Do well to remember that."

The eerie silence broken by Zach clearing his throat. "There's no way out. They're stuck down there."

Rose returned to the comm as Klary pulled her jacket sleeve down and began to wipe the blood off. "But we've got to bring them back."

"They're ten miles down. We haven't got another ten miles of cable," Jefferson explained. As he spoke there was banging on door 25. His eyes quickly flickering between the two women and the door. "Captain? Situation report."

"It's the Ood. They're cutting through the door bolts. They're breaking in."

He went to check the door. Speaking as he returned to the centre console. "Yeah, it's the same on door 25."

"How long's it going to take?"

Jefferson came to a stop beside Rose. "Well, it's only a basic frame, it should take ten minutes." Another bolt was cut.

"Make that eight," Scooti snapped.

"I've got a security frame. It might last a bit longer, but it doesn't help you."

"Right. So we need to stop them, or get out, or both."

"I'll take both, yeah?" Danny interjected from beside one of the columns. "But how?"

"You heard the Doctor. Why do you think that thing cut him off? 'Cos he was making sense. He was telling you to think your way out of this. Come on! For starters, we need some lights. There's got to be some sort of power somewhere."

"There's nothing I can do. Some Captain, stuck in here, pressing buttons."

"Zach, you're in the control room. Press some damn buttons."

"They've gutted the generators. But the rocket's got an independent supply. If I could reroute that… Mister Jefferson? Open the bypass conduits. Override the safety."

Jefferson rushed over to the controls. "Opening the conduits, sir."

"Channelling rocket feed in three, two, one. Power."

The light came back on. Rose clapping. "There we go."

"Let there be light."

"What about that strategy nine thing?"

"Not enough power. It needs one hundred percent."

"All right, we need a way out. Zach, Mister Jefferson, you start working on that. Toby, what about you?"

"I'm not a soldier. I can't do anything."

"No, you're the archeologist. What do you know about the pit?"

"Well, nothing. We can't even translate the language."

"Right," the blonde said dejectedly.

"Hold on. Maybe…"

"What is it?"

"Since that thing was inside my head, it's like the letters made more sense."

"Well, get to work. Anything you can translate, just anything. As for you, Danny boy. You're in charge of the Ood. Any way of stopping them?"

"Well, I don't know."

"Then find out. The sooner we get control of the Base, the sooner we can get the Doctor out. Now get going. Shift."

As the others began to work, Klary turned her attention to Scotti. Her voice loud enough for the others to hear. She wasn't sure if they had heard but she at least knew Scooti would at least be listened to. "Anywhere we can fit that connects the base?"

The young woman thought for a moment. Her gaze on the others as she answered. "The maintenance tunnels. No air though. We'd suffocate."

"Not if Zach manipulates the air."

Her eyes lit up. "That could wo-"

"Open junctions five, six, seven." Another bolt cut. "Reroute filters sixteen to twenty four. Go."

"There's all sorts of viruses that could stop the Ood. Trouble is, we haven't got them on board."

"Well, that's handy, listing all the things we haven't got. We haven't got a swimming pool either. Or a Tesco's."

Danny pumped his fist in the air. "Oh, my God. It says yes. I can do it. Hypothetically, if you flip the monitor, broadcast a flare, it can disrupt the telepathy. Brainstorm!"

"What happens to the Ood?"

"It'll tank them. Spark out."

"There we are, then. Do it!"

"No, but I'd have to transmit from the central monitor. We need to go to Ood Habitation."

"That's what we'll do, then. Mister Jefferson, sir. Any way out?"

Klary nudged Scooti. "The maintenance tunnels." Everyone in the group faced her.

Jefferson nodded. "There's a network of maintenance tunnels running underneath the base. We should be able to gain access from here."

"Ventilation shafts."

"Yeah, I appreciate the reference, but there's no ventilation. No air, in fact, at all. They were designed for machines, not life forms."

"But, I can manipulate the oxygen field from here. Create discrete pockets of atmosphere. If I control it manually, I can follow you through the network."

"Right, so we go down, and you make the air follow us by hand."

"You wanted me pressing buttons."

"Yeah, I asked for it. Okay, we need to get to Ood Habitation. Work out a route."

As Danny worked, the Ood were nearly through the door. As he stood at the console, the others had pulled up a piece of deck plating. Klary had remained off to the side with Scooti. Her body sagged against the wall. The young woman shot her a concerned glance that Klary brushed off. She wasn't too worried for herself. Not as she should be. From her previous experience, she knew that she was somewhat protected from the lack of oxygen. Her main concern was making sure everyone made it off the base. That no one was left behind.

Another bolt cut. "Danny!"

" Hold on! Just conforming."

"Dan, we got to go now! Come on!"

"Yeah!" He grabbed an orange chip from the machine and ran over to the others. "Put that in the monitor and it's a bad time to be an Ood."

"We're coming back. Have you got that? We're coming back to this room and we're getting the Doctor out."

"Okay. Danny, you go first, then you, Miss Tyler, Miss Klary, then Scooti, then Toby. I'll go last in defensive position. Now, come on, quick as you can!"

Klary pushed Scooti and Toby in front of her. Jefferson looked as if he wanted to say something but remained silent. In the tunnel, Klary waited for Jefferson to close the grate before she began to move. She was going to do everything in her power to keep the man alive.

"Not your best angle, Danny."

"Oi, stop it."

"I don't know , it could be worse."

"Oi!"

"Straight on until you find junction seven point one. Keep breathing. I'm feeding you air. I've got you."

Danny came to a stop at a closed junction. Deep breaths leaving him. "We're at seven point one, sir."

"Okay, I've got you. I'm just aerating the next section."

"Getting kind of cramped, sir. Can't you hurry up?" Klary rolled her eyes at him. There wasn't much Zach could do to help them as he tried to aerate the next section. Yet she remained silent.

"I'm working on half power, here."

"Stop complaining."

"Mister Jefferson says stop complaining," Rose snarked.

"I heard."

"He heard."

"But the air's getting a bit thin," Toby whined.

"He's complaining now."

"I heard."

Rose sniffed the air. "Danny, is that you?"

"I'm not exactly happy."

"I'm just moving the air. I've got to oxygenate the next section. Now, keep calm or it's going to feel worse."

Klary spoke, there was a loud bang. "Not to rush you, Zach but the Ood are about to follow us."

Jefferson whirled around, rifle primed. "What was that?" Danny's panic invaded the others.

"Mister Jefferson, what was that?" Rose's shrill voice grated against Klary's headache. The brunette grimaced as she tried to ignore it.

"What's that noise?"

"Captain, what was that?"

"The junction in Habitation Five's been opened. Like Klary said, it must be the Ood. They're in the tunnels!"

"Well, open the gate."

"I've got to get the air in!"

"Just open it, sir."

"Where are they? Are they close?"

"I don't know. I can't tell. I can't see them. The computer doesn't register Ood as proper life forms."

"Whose idea was that?"

"Open the gate!"

The gate slid up and the group rushed through. They heard as Zach gave Danny directions. Klary came to a stop as Jefferson called out. "The Ood, sir. can't you trap them? Cut off the air?"

"Not without cutting off yours." There was silence as the group fumbled their way through the tunnels. "Danny, turn right. Go right! Go fast, Dan. They're going to catch up."

"I'll maintain defensive position."

"You can't stop!"

"Miss Tyler, that's my job. You've got your task, now see to it."

"You heard what he said, now shift," Toby pushed Rose forward.

As Jefferson turned to face the Ood, Klary grabbed a hold of his jacket collar. Voice hard and expression stoney. "Jefferson, if you don't move your fucking ass, I will move you."

"Miss Kl-"

"No. You can defend us from the door. What's the point of dying right here and now? Doing exactly what that fucktard said? Would you like to give it the benefit?"

The pair held each other's gaze for a moment before Jefferson nodded and the pair hurried after the group. The Ood not far behind them. As they approached, they heard Danny. "Eight point two. Open eight point two. Zach! Open eight point two!"

"I've got to aerate it."

"Open it now!"

"I'm trying."

Danny began to pound on the gate. Rose reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Danny, stop it. That's not helping."

"Zach, get it open!" Toby spoke into his communicator.

"Jefferson, I've got to open eight point two by closing eight point one."

"No worries, Zach. He's with us. Holding position."

"Miss Klary is quite persuasive."

"Glad to hear it. Eight point two opening."

"That's it! Come one."

"Danny, turn left and head for nine point two. That's the last one."

The group quickly moved through the gate. Their breathing heavy as they came to a stop. Klary checked Scooti over and was content that she had been smushed beside Rose. "Zach, we're at the final junction, nine point two."

"Opening nine point two." As it opened, there was an Ood waiting for them, head turned to the side so that it could possibly shimmy under.

The group shuffled backwards. "Lower nine point two! Hurry, Zach!"

"Back! Back! Back!"

"We can't go back! The gang point's sealed off. We're stuck."

Scooti pointed out the floor grating as the Ood struggled with the gate. Tried to keep it from closing. The group quickly climbed up, Toby the last he was a bit further away. Looking around, they had ended up by door 32.

"Come on! Toby, come on! Toby, get out of there!"

"Help me! Oh, my God. Help me!"

As the others pulled Toby up, the opposite door opened and a group of Ood marched towards them. Klary had remained to the side, her grip on Scooti to keep her away from the possessed man. Her body a barrier between the girl and the Ood. Jefferson retained his position, having dispatched the Ood and all that stumbled down the corridor.

"It's this way!"

"Hurry it up!" Zach frantically called out just as they reached Ood Habitation.

"Get it in!"

"Danny, get down."

"Transmit!"

"I'm trying, I'm trying! I'm getting at it!" Danny searched his pockets for the chip as the Ood moved up the stairs. Jefferson fired his last bullet and instead, held his rifle as if it were a bat.

"Danny, get that thing transmitting!" Danny finally got the chip in and hit Enter. With little fanfare, the reading fell from basic 100 to basic 0. The Ood clutched their heads. Writhing in pain for mere seconds before they collapsed. "You did it! We did it!" Rose hugged the two men beside her and brightly smiled at Jefferson and Scooti.

"Yes!"

"Zach, we did it. The Ood are down. Now we've got to get the Doctor."

"I'm on my way."

The group rushed back to the drilling area where they met up with Zach. Rose instantly rushed over to the comms while Klary moved to lean against the wall. Scooti and Jefferson stood by her side as Toby and Danny were by the blonde. All heads turned as Zach rushed in.

"Doctor, are you there? Doctor, Ida, can you hear me?"

"The comms are still down. I can patch them through the central desk and boost the signal. Just give me a minute," Zach stated as he began to work the system.

"Are you there, Doctor?" Rose's voice frantic as she tried to get in touch.

"He's gone."

"What do you mean, he's gone?"

"He fell… into the pit. And I don't know how deep it is. Miles and miles and miles."

"But what do you mean, he fell?" The blonde's voice quivered. Despair leaked through. If they had been on better terms, Klary would have comforted her. Told her that the Doctor would be fine. But she didn't.

"Exactly what she said," Klary snapped.

"I couldn't stop him. Klary… He said your name."

Rose could barely muster a glare as she staggered back, tears in her eyes. Zach shot her a concerned glance as he gently pulled the mic from her hand. "I'm sorry. Ida? There's no way of reaching you. No cable. No back up. You're ten miles down. We can't get there."

"You should see this place, Zach. It's beautiful. Well, I wanted to discover things, and here I am."

"We've got to abandon the base. I'm declaring this mission unsafe. All we can do is make sure no one ever comes here again."

"But we'll never find out what it was."

"Well, maybe that's best."

"Yeah."

"Officer Scott…"

"It's all right. Just go. Good luck."

"And you." Zach placed the comm back in its spot on the console. A deep breath as sadness worked through him. "Danny, Toby, close down the feed links. Get the retrotropes online, then get to the rocket and strap yourselves in. Jefferson, Scooti, make sure everything is online and ready. We're leaving."

"I'm not going." The two men looked up from their tasks.

"Rose, there's space for you." He glanced at Klary. "Both of you."

"We're going."

"You really are a heartless bitch."

"Rose, do you really think the Doctor would want us to remain here and die? Do you truly feel that's something that he'd want to live with?"

"He'll come back! He'll come back for ME."

"I'm sorry, but he's dead."

"You don't know him. 'Cos he's not. I'm telling you, he's not. And even if he was, how could I leave him all on his own, all the way down there? No, I'm… going to stay."

"Then I apologise for this. Danny, Toby? Make her secure." Listening to their captain, Danny and Toby latched onto her. The blonde instantly began to fight back.

"No, no. No! No! No! Let me go! Get off me! I'm not leaving!" Rose's struggle was futile as the men had her in an iron grip. Zach stepped up, a needle in hand. In her struggle she barely realised the prick as he injected her with a sedative. "No."

"We've lost Ida. I am not leaving you behind. Let's get her on board." He lifted Rose onto his shoulder and began to walk off. He glanced at Klary as he walked by. "You're not going to-"

"I'm coming. No need to sedate me. Sides, wouldn't want to leave Scooti." With a nod, Zach led them through the corridors.

As they walked, one of the downed Ood twitched. "Did that one just move?"

"It's the telepathic field. It's reasserting itself"

"Move it. Get to the rocket. Move!"

The group rushed through the corridors, only to stop at the rocket door. Inside, Jefferson helped get Rose strapped in while the others got themselves settled. Klary, Rose, and Toby seated in the first row with Scooti and Danny behind them. Jefferson sat in the co-captain's seat, helping Zach pilot.

"Dislocating B clamp. C Clamp. Raising blu-nitro to maximum. Toby, how's the Negapact feed line?"

"Clear. Ready to go, sir. For god's sake, get us out of here!" As Toby finished, Rose began to wake. The others quickly took notice.

"Captain, I think we're going to have a problem passenger."

"Keep an eye on her."

"Wait. We're not-"

"It's all right, Rose. You're safe."

"I'm not going anywhere! Get me out of this thing! Get me out!"

"And lift off! Whoo!"

"Bit late for that, don'tcha think," Klary snarked.

Rose looked around for a moment before she picked up the bolt gun Zach had brought. Aimed it at the man. "Take me back to the planet. Take me back!"

"Or what?"

"Or I'll shoot."

"Would you, though? Would you really? Is that what your Doctor would want?" Put on the spot, Rose slumped back into her seat. Arms crossed like a petulant child. "Sorry, but it's too late anyway. Take a look outside. We can't turn back. This is what the Doctor would have wanted. Isn't that right?"

As the rocket zoomed away from the black hole, Toby began to chuckle. "What's the joke?"

"Just… we made it. We escaped. We actually did it."

"Not all of us," Rose grumbled.

"You really have no faith in him, do you?"

"Oh, like you're one to talk. You don't even care about him. You just let him go."

"But, Klary said no one can make him do anything. He wanted to go."

"No one's talking to you," Rose sneered.

"Don't talk to Scooti like that."

"They should have left you. You don't even belong here."

Klary went to reply but Zach cut in. " Enough. We're not out of it yet. We're still the first people in history to fly away from a black hole. Toby, read me the stats."

"Gravity funnel holding, sir. Always holding." Toby continued to monitor the readings. "Stats at fifty three. Funnel stable at sixty six point five. Hull pressure constant. Smooth as we can, sir, all the way back home. Coordinates set for planet Earth."

"It doesn't make sense. We escaped, but there's a thousand ways it could've killed us. It could've ripped out the air or, I don't know, burnt us, or anything. But it let us go. Why? Unless it wanted us to escape?"

"Hey, Rose, do us a favour. Shut up," Toby hissed before he returned his gaze to the monitor above him. "Almost there. We'll be beyond the reach of the black hole in forty, thirty nine"

Rose continued to sit with her arms closed. Pouting as the rocket continued moving away from the planet. From the black hole. The rocket silent apart from the beeping of the monitors. Suddenly the rocket began to violently shake. Everyone latching onto the their armrests. "What happened? What was that?"

"What's he doing? What is he doing?"

"Whatever are you talking about, To-by?" Klary innocently asked. Voice drowned by the commotion though the man glared at her.

"We've lost the funnel! Gravity collapse!"

"What does that mean?"

"We can't escape. We're headed straight for the black hole!"

Rose glanced out the window. "It's the planet. The planet's moving. It's falling."

Opposite of Klary, Toby's face covered in the symbols. Eyes red. Face twisted in a snarl. "I am the rage-"

"It's Toby. Zach, do something."

"And the bile and the ferocity!"

"Just do something!"

"I am the Prince and the Fall and the enemy. I am the sin and the fear and the darkness."

"It's him! It's him! It's him!"

"Stay where you are. The ship's not stable!" Toby breathed fire in reply. "What is he? What the hell is he?"

"I shall never die. The thought of me is forever. In the bleeding hearts of men, in their vanity and obsession and lust-" Rose leaned over and picked up the bolt gun from where she dropped it. "Nothing shall ever destroy me. Nothing!"

"Got to hell!" She shot out the front screen and unfastened his belt. As he was sucked out, so was Klary. Her eyes widened as she met Rose's gaze. Fear and anger burned within them. Her heart stopped as she saw the teenager's small grin. Before she could move her gaze, she was overcome by darkness.

Hey all. Sorry it's been a while. My health has been fluctuating a lot and getting out of bed and moving around has been incredibly difficult. I appreciate you bearing with me. I'll try to get the next chapter out at some point this month. However, with everything going on, I would like to just say that as twice a month isn't 100% feasible, I'll be working to get a chapter out once a month. Sorry you have to wait a bit for them. But until I actually feel better, I would rather not push myself to do too much. That said, onto the reviews.

AliceCullen3: Glad you enjoyed it.

savethemadscientist: I'm glad you liked their cuddles. I love adding those little moments to the story. Klary is very sympathetic to what the Doctor goes through, though I will say there will be some interesting things coming with some of his actions. Her migraines are definitely due to the Beast. Gotta love evil telepathic aliens. Yes! I really hated that Scooti died in the show. like many people the Doctor encounters, she didn't deserve to die. Besides, I wanted this episode to have a somewhat happy ending. Debating on how you look at it. A nearly everybody lives moment. Rose's return will be interesting to say the least. That's all I'll say about that lol. I'm sure you got what Jenny meant after reading this chapter and I can't wait to see what you thought. I'm so glad you liked the chapter!
