Chapter 1: Race to the Finish
High up in a remote mountain range near Gem Stone Valley, there is a large clear lake nestled amidst a lush green forest. The healthy pine trees gave off an enchanting aroma, welcoming everyone to an untamed paradise and signaling to them that they had left civilization behind and are now part of nature.
Birds sang in harmony.
Wild animals frolicked about.
Bees buzzed around the many flowers scattered along a dirt road.
It was the picture definition of the great outdoors.
But the peace and tranquility was short-lived, and it was quickly shattered by the sound of a high-speed kart racing by!
Five to be exact.
With their tires squealing and their engines roaring, five bandicoot racers blazed down the winding dirt road at nearly breakneck speeds. They occasionally turned to taunt each other.
"Come on, you slowpokes! Did no one tell you this was a race?" taunted Ami.
"Oi! We're not out yet!" rebutted Liz.
"This-a pony still has plenty-a miles left in her!" added Isabella, as she swerved around the turn.
"Don't count me out yet!" Megumi said, cheerfully.
"You ain't winning this one, birthday girl!" Tawna said, confidently.
Tawna and her friends, the CTR Nitro Squad, were in the middle of an exciting race towards Ami's private villa in the woods. They each were behind the wheel of their own custom karts.
Leading the pack was Ami, a green-haired bodybuilding enthusiast who blared down the road driving the racing-stripe Bandibuggy.
Right behind her was Tawna, a beautiful blonde-haired bandicoot who stuck to the "classic" metal-fame kart.
Fiercely battling for third place were Isabella, the Italian bombshell driving the bright blue Rocket, and Liz, the dark-haired, fame-hungry beauty model riding a black and green Cabrio.
And last, but by no means least, was the kind and energetic Megumi. With her bright blue hair tied in twin buns, Megumi came up from behind in a fiery pink Roadster.
The Bandicoot ladies raced together in a tight cluster, each one neck-and-neck with each other in a struggle to claim first place.
Ami turned sharply, her kart drifting precariously around the turn. But Isabella managed to take the turn even more sharply, managing to overpass her and Tawna.
Finally, the girls could see a large wooden cabin off in the distance next to the lake.
"Haha! We're on the homestretch now!" Ami proclaimed as she pumped her fist.
But her triumph was cut short by Tawna bumping into one of her back wheels. Ami held on for dear life as her kart suddenly spun out of control. "Aww…did I do that?" taunted Tawna.
With a sudden burst of determination, Tawna slammed her foot against the pedal, revving up her engine and pushing her kart to go even faster. Isabella and Liz followed closely.
Luckily, Ami managed to regain control of her vehicle. She straightened herself and tried to focus back on the face. Megumi pulled up beside her. "Are you okay, Ami?" she asked, worriedly.
"I will be," she replied, "once I get back at Tawna!"
Gripping the steering wheel tightly, Ami surged forward, leaving Megumi behind and inadvertently kicking up dirt in her face. "Ow! Hey, watch out!" Megumi shouted as she shielded her eyes.
Blinded by the debris, Megumi's kart began spinning out of control, eventually sliding off the track and crashing into a nearby muddy pond!
Unaware of Megumi's mishap, the others forged ahead, continuing the race for another two miles.
At last, they arrived at Ami's cabin. Everyone slammed their foot on the brakes, causing their tires to screech loudly into the driveway. Just when it seemed like it was going to be a photo finish between Tawna and Isabella, Ami managed to swerve her way into the top spot ahead of everyone else.
"Woooo! First place again!" Ami shouted, victoriously.
"That's-a no fair!" complained Isabella. "This is-a your cabin! You have the unfair advantage!"
"Forget it, love," said Liz, "she has us beat."
Isabella sighed. She petted her kart as if it were a sad dog. "It's-a okay," she said, "next time."
"At least you didn't finish last," said Tawna. "Right, Megumi?"
"Yeah, poor old Megumi," laughed Ami, "our first loser for the weekend!"
They all waited for Megumi to speak up. But there was no response.
The bandicoot ladies looked around, puzzled. They realized that Megumi was missing. Minutes puzzled, but she had yet to appear.
"She was right behind us, wasn't she?" asked Liz, somewhat worriedly.
"I know she was-a behind, but she wasn't that-a far behind," teased Isabella.
They waited some more, but still Megumi was absent.
The light-hearted atmosphere quickly turned sour as everyone began to worry. "Oh, that is bad," Liz said, concerned.
"You-a think she crashed?" asked Isabella.
"We better go look for her," suggested Tawna.
"Good idea," agreed Liz.
But before the girls could jump back into their karts to search for Megumi, she finally crawled into the driveaway, stopping behind everyone's karts.
Megumi and her kart were both filthy and covered in mud and swamp scum.
"Oh no, Megumi! Are you okay?" Tawna asked, worriedly.
"What happened?" asked Liz.
"I spun out and ended up in a swamp," Megumi confused, sheepishly. "But I'm fine though!"
"Fine? Look at you!" exclaimed Ami. "You're covered in mud!"
"Oh no! It's nothing! Really!" Megumi said, trying to calm down everyone.
Everyone collected their bags and climbed up the wooden stairs to the front door of Ami's luxury two-story cabin.
Stepping inside, they were all in awe at Ami's cabin. They marveled at its splendor, with hardwood floors, rustic metal chandeliers, and an open layout that invited the sunlight to illuminate every corner.
"Say, this is a nice place you got, Ami," complimented Tawna.
"Nice place? It's-a palace!" said an astonished Isabella.
"Oh, it's nothing," Ami said, trying to play cool. "It's just a little something I bought after winning my tenth first-place trophy in a row. "
"Ah, now you're just having a laugh," replied Liz, who was less than impressed. "I still have more trophies! And a bigger cabin on the beach!"
"Now, now! Let's not argue!" Megumi said, trying to keep the peace. "Are we not here to have fun?"
"Megumi's right," agreed Tawna. "We're not here to fight. We're here to throw the wildest weekend for the birthday girl!"
"Oh, it's gonna be wild alright!" Isabella teased, as she snuck up behind Ami to grope her chest.
"Easy now," Ami scolded. She forced Isabella's hands off her large breasts. "There'll be plenty of time for that later tonight!"
Isabella had stockpiled several bottles of Vin Wumpa and she was determined to go through them all by the end of the weekend. She couldn't wait to see what sort of shenanigans will happen.
Tawna eagerly rubbed her hands together. "Let's get this place cleaned up so we can start relaxing and partying!"
"I definitely need a clean up," Megumi said, shaking some of the mud from her hands.
"You can use the shower!" replied Ami. "It's upstairs, second door on the right! I'll bring your clothes up and a fresh towel."
"Oh, why thank you very much!" Megumi said, graciously.
Megumi then headed upstairs to the bathroom.
Little did she know, Ami had another idea.
Tawna turned and saw Ami with a devilish smile on her face. She knew right away she had something cheeky planned.
"What are you up to?" she asked, curiously.
Ami's voice carried a hint of mischief. "I think we should go into town and grab some food and supplies for tonight," she suggested.
"Right now?" asked Liz. "But what about Megumi?"
"She'll be fine," replied Ami, "besides, she can clean the place up while we're gone."
The other girls exchanged wicked smiles, silently planning their first prank. "She's gonna be our first victim?" joked Isabella.
"She did come in last place," said Tawna, "she oughta know by now."
Quietly snickering amongst themselves, the bandicoot women snuck out of the cabin and jumped into their karts, carrying Megumi's bag (with her clothes in it) and leaving her behind.
And thus began Ami's birthday weekend, which was guaranteed to be full of hi-jinks, pranks, and amusing penalties for whoever is unfortunate enough to lose.
