Epilogue: On a Clear Day
Tyr chuckled indulgently at his fiancée's enthusiasm as she snuggled against him on the plane. She'd told him once that they were like two sides of a coin, opposites in temperament, but the same in all the ways that mattered. This wedding was certainly proving her correct. They just grooved on most of the decisions, and even the disagreements they had were easily ironed out.
Jacob had gotten his woman an exciting Sci-fi thriller role that she was raving about. He was playing the villain in an independent film he was enjoying. Their wedding plans were progressing smoothly. The two were scheduled to fly to Calgary to meet with their wedding planner face to face tomorrow during a week hiatus naturally occurring within their production schedules. Right now they were on their way to surprise The Nostalgia Critic during the break and personally invite the man and his people to their wedding.
Tyr breathed her in as the private plane landed. "Wake up, Sunshine. It's time to meet your maker."
"We're dead?" She asked in a drowsy voice before stretching herself awake. He laughed and unbuckled her seatbelt, pulling her up out of her seat.
"We are very much alive, my love. I believe that we are entering the best years of our lives." He kissed her before the woman's brain could catch up with her.
Lorraine was in Heaven. It was the only explanation she could think of for the magic of his touch. But no… Her man was very much a reality. To think that her years of suffering were really over! That the Lord had brought her through to someone so wonderful and true. That He would restart her career and guide her to the best directors with the best scripts. Tyr was right; this truly felt like the best years of their lives!
Oh-oh-oh-oh! Makes me wanna dance
Oh-oh-oh-oh! It's a true romance
Oh-oh-oh-oh! I look into your eyes
Oh-oh-oh-oh! Best years of our lives!
Her man chuckled again, leading her off the plane. They left most of their luggage on board; Tyr owned the plane and they were planning to go to Calgary later tonight. The man had even rented a convertible for the drive to the Nostalgia Critic's base of operations. They decided to go straight to their destination instead of wandering around the city looking for a place to eat. Raina was sure they would have some recommendations.
It took some time to nail down where the studio was, but they managed it.
"Shall we, my love?" her fiancé asked sweetly as he exited the car. She hummed and did the same. A thrill of anticipation shivered through her as she approached the door with her fiancé. She still hadn't tuned back into the Critic's channel. Part of her wanted to catch up with the lure, but she was intimidated by the amount of viewing that she would have to do to catch up.
"Are you okay, Sunshine?" The actor asked her in concern. The woman grinned at him lovingly and rang the doorbell.
"Alright, the pizza is here," they heard The Cinema Snob say through the door. "It's my turn to pay, right?" The man stopped dead when he saw who was at the door. After an eternity of staring at the two actors, Brad finally found his voice.
"I didn't expect you to actually show up here," his deep voice sounded out at last.
"I owe you guys a lot," Raina said, smiling serenely. "If not for your prodding, I wouldn't have found my courage and started acting again. Where else would I be?" The pizza man showed up just then, gawking at the actors. Tyr pulled out his credit card to take care of their dinner, and he and his fiancé signed the back of the receipt for the excited man.
"What's the hold up, Brad? Where's the pizza?" Malcolm called from the hall. He stood frozen when he recognized the man and woman in the doorway. "It can't be…"
"It's been a long time since I last saw the show, Mr. Malcolm, but I haven't forgotten about it. Is this a bad time? May we come in?"
"Where the hell's the pizza? You clowns had better not be doing anything weird to-" Tamara stopped her tirade cold on seeing the couple, the clipboard she'd been carrying falling from nerveless fingers.
"You know, I kinda wish we were recording these reactions, Jaguar. They're kinda priceless." At the reminder, everyone except Lorraine pulled out their phones. Doug was charging down the hall, looking at the schedule for next week's filming.
"You know, if it's too expensive for you, I can- Oh my God," he said loudly, looking as if he was going to bolt. He started shaking as he gawked at them.
"Hello Mr Nostalgia Critic. I'm Lorraine Rutherford. This is Tyr Anasazi. And we have your pizza." The man dropped the schedule and squealed like a little girl while jumping in a circle, before dropping right to the floor in a dead faint. Raina immediately passed the food to the Snob, heading over to check him out while the others laughed hysterically and continued to record the moment.
"Doug? DOUG?" The nurse called for the D-list actor. She put his head in her lap and smacked him gently, shaking him until the man woke up.
"Is this real?" He asked while staring up at her in awe.
"We came to invite you to our wedding, Mr. Walker. You've been such a great help to us over the past few years, we thought it only fair to give you and your people the chance to attend. As our guests, of course."
Tyr reached for Doug's hand, his phone still rolling, and pulled him out of his woman's lap and to his feet. "We want you and your people to be there if possible. But a simple invitation seemed… wrong after all the free press you gave my woman two years ago. So, here we are."
"We're headed off to Canada to meet our wedding planner and then back to our movie projects at the end of the week. This is the only time we could get here together to invite you. And it had to be both of us, Mr. Critic. You've had a huge impact on our lives."
"I… I can't believe this is happening," Doug cried in a high-pitched voice that had his staff cracking up.
"Well, believe it," the woman said happily. The wedding is November 20th and we would love for you to come. Whaddaya say?"
The internet personality looked from one actor to the other and smiled. "Of course I'll be there! What else am I gonna do that day? Shall we go out and celebrate?"
"That sounds lovely," Raina grinned. "I figured that you guys would have some recommendations."
"Oh, hell yeah," Malcolm laughed. "We can always eat the pizza tomorrow." Tamara grinned and grabbed her coat. The group headed out, full of excitement, pizza and wings sitting on the couch in their haste to show the actors a good time.
"Hello? Doug?" Rob Walker said, having just come out of the bathroom and missing the floor show. "Where is everybody?" Spying the food, and being the only one left in the studio, he grinned and grabbed a slice.
"Your loss," he said firmly, laughing like a maniac.
