Mark almost loses his love as he was planning to gain the power to protect him. Soon his life changed from a normal teenager into a fiery warrior. But he will live the responsibility of being a hero or will he take his vengeance like a villain? Do not own spectacular Spider-Man…
In an abandoned police station…
Mark was being led by the Bookie with the promise of power to protect his love from the monster who froze him…
He couldn't forgive himself… for not being strong enough for his boyfriend.
Peter was more than willing to save his best friend from frozen death, save Mark's sister and all he could do was watch in horror. No, he won't let Peter get hurt like that again, he was going to take down Iceberg for good. He would change himself and hunt down the icy freak.
"Right this way, Marky. The police haven't been here since getting to their fancy station. A perfect place for your little… cosmetic change." Blackie assured the boy.
"This is where I can get the power?"
"Yes, the doctor, you and I want the same thing. My bar was frozen stiff and many of my good customers are nothing more than sculptures after all." The man smiled as he led the boy inside.
Inside the room, above the room behind one-sided glass was Norman Osborn and Miles Warren who were looking at the boy's vitals and DNA.
"He will be quite the specimen. The odds that he would know that magnificent creature who had been acting as the Guardian Angel of New York. Quite a treasure to find." Warren grinned as he was preparing the serum.
"Right, this young man wants power, Iceberg will be put in his place, and the Nectar of Life had been within our grasp."
"It is wise that we stay on good terms with the boy. For if we are allies to him… we are allies to the spider and we can continue the work under his nose." Warren swooned as the boy sat on the table, waiting.
At Connor's Lab…
Harry visited Peter, who was still in the tank, defrosting and sleeping inside.
The boy hoped his friend felt no pain, the image of the ice encasing him still replayed over and over in his mind. Peter pretended to be him, to save him and-and… He can never forgive himself for being such a coward. Iceberg wanted him because of his father and Peter paid for it.
What can he do?
Maybe…
If he had the green…
"Harry, whatever you're thinking… no." Gwen pleaded, "I am just as upset and angry as you, but Pete wouldn't want you to go back to that."
"But with the green… I could smash him. I could break him into little pieces and smash him again-."
"Or you could be put into that tank with Peter or even worse than that."
Martha listened to the pair, seeing the people who knew the patient deeply care. She deeply frowned as she kept thinking about how Mark accused her and her husband of being responsible. Mark blamed them for what happened, and it seemed that others were looking at them the same way, too. Iceberg was not their creation and yet with their track record… people are starting to think of their lab as a monster factory.
"Martha, this is a misunderstanding. I am certain that once this Iceberg fellow is caught, everything will be cleared." Curt tried to comfort her.
"Curt, you saw how people are looking at us, how that boy did… People think we did this to Peter, that we created Iceberg! They think we're monsters, and I don't know what we can do." Martha fretted as her husband hugged her.
"The only monster out of the two of us is me. Don't worry, everything will be okay."
Things will have to get worse before they can get better.
At the lab…
Mark was shocked to see the professor that Peter worked for would be the one to give him power.
"Dr. Warren?"
"I see my protégée has told you much of me. As you can see, I can agree with what you have said to the Connors. I could not agree more with you, forgive me for eavesdropping on you."
"You know-?"
"I know of Connor's dark little secrets and am working on seeing that they answer for what they have done. Isn't it a coincidence that an artificial mutant is lurking around, and the best genetic researchers are in New York? Harry Osborn may have been the target, but who's to say that Peter was not as well?"
"Right. So… you can change me too? Fight fire with fire situation?" Mark suggested.
"Fire with fire? What an interesting thing to say. It is something like that… you will become a powerful being. This serum will evolve you into something truly incredible. This will give you the power to destroy Iceberg once and for all." He promised.
Mark agreed then was injected…
At the Connor's Lab…
Harry and Gwen were talking to Peter as he was still inside the tank, the chemical bubbling inside.
He looked so peaceful… so undisturbed….
Martha Connors and Curt Connors approached the kids.
"Pete only has one more hour before he can be removed from the tank, then he can be sent home. He seems to be doing quite well." He reported to the two, who were happy to hear.
"Thank you, Dr. Connors. Peter will be thankful, too once he wakes up." Gwen assured.
"And it's on my dad for the treatment," Harry added, surprised that his father wanted to pick up the bill for the Parkers.
Suddenly, things began to get cold, real cold… Everyone shivered as the cold was becoming more and more unbearable! Suddenly, a blizzard blew through the door, Iceberg appeared!
"Hello, Mr. Osborn. We have much to talk about." Iceberg declared and looked up to see the boy he froze, "And I can settle with the other one, too. Little liar."
Harry then stood between the tank and the man of ice.
"No! don't hurt him! Not again!" Harry pleaded as he wasn't sure what he'd do.
"Ooh, now you're playing hero~." The man of frost laughed then froze the phone to keep the Connors from calling for help, "Let's not heave our fun spoiled…"
"Then it's too bad I'm here."
Before Iceberg was then hit by something as it sent him through the wall. Crawling out from the hole was a young man that looked like an Emmy.
"Who are you supposed to be, Trophy Boy?" Iceberg scoffed.
"Call me… Molten Man." Mark declared as Iceberg recognized the kid.
"Wait, you were with those other kids."
"Yeah, and the kid you froze… he is my boyfriend."
"I see, so you sold your soul for vengeance. Poor brat, let me put you out of your misery."
"Mark!" Gwen gasped as Iceberg summoned an ice blast!
But instead of freezing the kid, steam rolled off him as he gave a smirk.
"I am Molten Man, it's not just a name for a gimmick. Here, let me show you." Mark smirked as he created a fireball from his hands.
He then tossed it at Iceberg, who realized quickly that his weakness is heat! Osborn… he was the one who send this kid after his hide!
The two duked it out as Iceberg realized he was outmatched by this fiery kid's power! He was then pinned to the wall.
"I should melt you completely. Give you the same pain that you gave to Petey…." He snarled at the man.
"Do it, Mark!" Harry encouraged, those who wanted revenge as well.
"No, don't! Pete wouldn't want you to do this!" Gwen pleaded.
But this is what he wanted… to go all in.
'When you want big, you gotta go all in.'
'When you want big, you gotta go all in.'
'When you want big, you gotta go all in.'
'When you want big-.'
'With great power, comes great responsibility.'
With great power, comes great responsibility.'
With great power, comes great responsibility.'
He had great power… so it was his responsibility to use it wisely. No, Pete wouldn't want him to turn into a monster, so he wouldn't.
"I want to destroy you as the monster you are, but I am not like you. I am not a monster. Someone taught me something very important… With great power, comes great responsibility."
Afterward, the police arrived and Mark returned to normal, helping Pete out of the tank, and lying on the bed. Warren covered for the boy by saying he slipped and spilled an experimental solution in the lab. The Doctor was there to help the boy learn control since there was no cure for it. Captain Stacy let the boy go and Mark waited for his love to wake up.
After all, Spider-man could use a spicy partner in crime fighting.
