Daughter Of Batman 2 Chapter 8
For 3 nights Damian has been out with Talon patrolling the Gotham. For 3 nights he's lived separate from his father and sister as he lives the life Damian knows he's meant to and the teachings that the League of Shadows instilled in him throughout his childhood. And for 3 whole days…Damian has been holding himself back from actually taking it all the way with that harsh and disciplined training regiments.
Turns out Batman's hold over Damian has a far stronger hold over him than he first thought. Batman's own teachings and methods are not so easy to replace in his mindset.
Damian can tell Talon is seriously getting frustrated with him over this, accusing the boy of only stepping into his tutelage halfheartedly. The discontent Damian can feel radiating from his new mentor is becoming more and more apparent. None more so than tonight as is so blatantly displayed.
You see Talon and Damian had gone after a major drug lord and his crew. Talon had no problem dispatching Draco's henchmen, but when it came for Damian to land the deadly fatal blow on Draco, he finds that he can't do it. Instead, Damian declares to Talon that they have enough evidence gathered on this crook to lock him away for life. Talon is beyond agitated his pupil has refused to permanently eradicate this scum from the face of the earth. Damian's frequency of disobeying him like this is not something Talon approves of.
Damian ends up leaving Draco there in his beaten state for law enforcement to pick up. He then tracks Talon to a neighboring rooftop that is distanced from the hideout.
Damian is hesitant about announcing his presence, aware that Talon is heavily displeased with him.
The kid needn't have bothered.
"I know you're there," said Talon, sharply.
Looks like Damian wasn't being as careful as he thought.
Damian steps out from behind the chimney he's using for concealment, head bowed in sheepish submission.
"If you've got something to say, say it," ordered Talon, coldly.
Moving closer to him, grimacing in an impassive manner, Damian said "I just wanted to tell you that I gathered up the evidence."
Backing Damian into a corner against the chimney, delivering an ultimatum, Talon said "Draco's got an army of lawyers that have kept him out of prison for years. But we could have erased him from the equation. Three nights we've been out here together. For three nights I've allowed the Batman to come between us. But no more. Now is the time to step across that line. Become what you were born to be or I promise you, I will find someone else."
Lowering his head underneath the caped hood, Damian said "It's just…I have to be sure."
Narrowing his eyes behind the mask, clenching a tight fist, Talon said "His voice is still in your head. Justice, not vengeance. His voice is wrong. He's like a father to you, isn't he? You look up to him?"
"Far from it," refuted Damian, begrudgingly. "But yes, I guess I do look up to him."
"I had a Batman in my life. He was a thief. A damned good one. And from a very young age, he made sure I was one, too. I was his shadow. His echo. I worshipped him. And more than anything, I wanted to please him," admits Talon, nostalgically.
A single brow quirked, Damian said "And did you?"
Shaking his head, Talon admits "No. No matter what I did, how hard I tried, I was never good enough. But what could I do? Not long after that, I was recruited by a secret society, the Court of Owls. They took me in, raised me, trained me, and gave me strength and purpose. What they did for me, I want to do for you."
Not going to happen.
Suddenly Batman appears, landing in a crouch on the chimney beside them.
Stonily, Bruce said "You've done quite enough."
Eyes wide, Damian said "How did you-?"
Right on cue, Danika appears landing directly next to Bruce.
Aiming a seething and piercing glower at Danika, sardonically, Damian said "Of course. Why am I not surprised?"
Danika's face remains expressionless, struggling not to blanche at the accusatory tone.
Drawing attention away from Danika and over to him, Bruce said "Not too hard to track, considering the bloody trail you two have left."
"This is where you choose sides, once and for all," said Talon to Damian, turning tail and fleeing off the roof.
Bruce and Danika go to pursue it only to have Damian defiantly blocking their way.
Spreading his arms out wide at the sides, determinedly preventing them from giving chase, Damian said "No!"
"We got to stop him. You don't understand, he's part of something bigger. He's using you, Robin, to get to me," said Bruce, painfully blunt.
Chest swelling in incredulous indignation and irritation, in vehement sarcasm, Damian said "Right, it's all about the great Batman. Well, for your information, he sees something in me that you don't."
"Robin, that's not true," said Danika, hoping to step in and act as mediator.
Rounding angrily and pointing an accusatory finger at her, Damian said "And you! I trusted you not to say anything to him and look at what you do the moment I'm gone. You've betrayed me!"
"Lunar Rose is trying to protect you," said Bruce, a warning tone to his voice not to go there, attempting to shield Danika from these hateful words. The vulnerability in her eyes beneath the domino mask caused his own temper to flare. "She came forward and told me about Talon right away. What you should've done the moment you came home."
"Some protection," scoffed Damian, disdainfully.
Danika's mouth trembles, eyes glistening from the tears building at her brother's bitter behavior regarding her innocent and kind efforts to bring peace to the family. It makes her heart ache so terribly.
Rolling his eyes, Damian spat "That's right cry. All you seem to do is cry lately instead of being loyal."
"That's enough! You will not treat your sister this way," admonished Bruce, firmly.
Pointing a finger at him in open detest, Damian exclaimed "She broke her promise to me!"
Swatting Damian's hand aside, Bruce said "I don't have time for this. Now get out of my way before I-."
Neither Bruce nor Danika expected Damian to pull a batarang on them.
Truthfully it unnerved Danika so much that she can swear her blood nearly froze from the shock, making it absolutely gut-wrenching.
Posture tensed to the point he resembles a predator preparing to spring on its prey, threateningly, Damian said "Before what?"
No denying it. Damian is challenging Bruce plain and simple. A devastating chill overcomes Danika's heart as she analyzes the situation. Judging by his body language all of Damian's pent-up frustration and contempt is about to be dispersed with unchecked ferocity in droves.
Danika's stomach fills with dread in anticipation of the unavoidable confrontation she senses is about to unfold. Hidden in her hair Ao anxiously bites on his nails, nerves getting frazzled from all the thick intensity layered in the atmosphere.
Patience running thin, no longer tolerating the constant insubordination, uncompromising and keeping his voice even with barely maintained control, straight-faced, Bruce said "Talon's right about one thing, the choice you make tonight will define you the rest of your life."
Pushing Damian aside, and wrapping a secure arm around Danika, Bruce launches a grapple gun to go after Talon. They don't even make it 20 ft before the line is sliced through by Damian's batarang.
Bruce and Danika land on the edge and are met with Damian's charge toward them.
His choice is made.
Bruce shoves Danika a safe distance away and engages Damian himself, leaving her helpless to do anything to stop it. She knows Bruce wouldn't want her to interfere and Damian would become even more enraged at her for doing so. She's seriously stuck at a rock in a hard place. She doesn't know what to do.
Ao chatters in her ear and strokes a paw through her hair to comfort his mistress as best he can.
During this hand-to-hand fight, Bruce may be holding back, but Damian is no longer doing so. He's going all out.
Both are without a doubt going to require her healing magic after this.
Danika follows as the fight takes them over the roof edge and down the side.
Somehow Bruce manages to restrain Damian with some handcuffs, but he makes quick work of those with a hidden lockpick in his leg armor in order to break free. As soon as this is done Damian renews the assault, launching at Bruce unrelenting.
Danika can't stand it anymore and finally intervenes. She intercepts Damian just as he is about to land a blow on Bruce. The twins intertwine, rolling over each other in the scuffle as they fight for control. At one point when Damian has her pinned down Ao does a sneak attack. He bites Damian on the hand to get him to release her. It works, but Damian retaliates by throwing Ao off and the squirrel knocks into a nearby statue. He's winded yet otherwise unhurt.
Enraged by his treatment of her treasured companion an incensed Danika kicks Damian in the stomach. The force from the impact makes Damian stumble at the edge and fall. Staggering to regain his lost footing Damian grabs onto Danika's cape, unintentionally pulling her down with him.
The twins tumble off the ledge, heading directly for the glass roof of a private art garden. Unfortunately, the twins aren't in a state to correct their positions so they can slow the descent safely.
Bruce is.
Reading the situation Bruce dives after them, reaching the two at the same time they crash through the glass roof. Acting with haste Bruce wraps the twins in his arms, repositioning them so that they're cushioned on his chest and his back is taking the brunt of the fall. It's a good thing he does this for they hit a tree and a statue that slows the descent enough to the point where no major damage is dealt to any of them. In fact, Damian and Danika are saved from the brunt while Bruce is on the receiving end from the majority.
Upon impact, the twins are thrown in opposite directions. Damian recovers quicker and pounces on Bruce before he can sufficiently recover.
Straddling Bruce to keep him pinned down Damian holds aloft a wooden stake to plunge into him.
Holding out a horrified hand, Danika said "No, stop!"
Bruce and Damian pay her no attention, completely ignoring her.
"If this is what you want, then do it," shouted Bruce.
Damian hesitates, a wooden stake above his head.
"Do it," repeats Bruce.
Danika is wracked with excruciating fear that Damian will go through with it.
Then, at the last second, Damian appears to decide differently.
Damian stabs the wooden stake into the dirt beside Bruce's head.
Danika assists Bruce in standing up, an arm flung over her shoulder for balance.
"Let's go home," said Bruce.
"My home isn't with you. It never was," said Damian, glancing at Danika.
Danika says nothing, burying her face in Bruce's side, too ashamed of her brother's actions to utter anything to say.
Damian has taken it too far this time and he knows it. So, he then leaves without another word, not looking back.
During this Ao had made his way down to them. He climbs Danika's leg and back to his proper place on her shoulder.
Danika then heals the injuries Bruce has sustained.

Fully healed Bruce rubs her shoulder to console his daughter in a way. This conflict has broken her heart in more ways than one.
At the end of this violent altercation, none of them emerge victorious.
There's only one way to end this now.
Take down the Court of Owls for good.

For those of you on fanfiction I'm sure you've been facing the many unwanted ads when you're reading a story. Well, yesterday, I finally had enough, and I got an adblocker app. It worked! No more ads on any level! The one I got is Adblock Pro: Safari Ad Blocker. It really works. Just follow the instruction video that it attached to it.
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of months ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
