Not really knowing how she felt, Saphira looked ahead at Seymour's mansion as they approach the large gates to his home. Saphira felt as though it was right to go to his mansion, as he said that his assistant had the right programs to help them figure out the mystery. While Saphira was not overly fond of Simmons, he has proven his worth in the past. His strangeness seemed to be his personality trait, and Saphira couldn't really say she could understand it. But he would be able to help them, and that is what mattered the most. She was nervous about what they would learn about the decepticons, but it was necessary to find out more of their plan. And confirm if Barricade was right about what he believes will happen. Even if Sentinel had already given her some suspicions by what he said, she still wanted confirmation.
"Your heart's beating rather quickly," Barricade spoke gently as he approached the doors that Seymour had opened. The man was standing there waiting for him and Bee to roll in. "I guess you are nervous. I know this isn't exactly what we wanted to do, but I too want to confirm my suspicions."
She nodded. She was definitely nervous. Saphira really did not know how things would go, but they would at least get answers. "I am mostly upset because…I am upset for Optimus. I know that I don't Sentinel well, but I had really hoped that he might be good. I know he says he does not wish to harm me, but I don't know. I just hope that…maybe…he does not have a huge part to play in this…well…" She let out a shaky breath and wiped a couple tears from her eyes. "I guess I still kind of hope."
"Me too, if I am honest. I honestly should admit this, I really wish I was wrong. I well, and truly do." Saphira smiled a little as she understood what Barricade was saying. "If I did not hear a thing about it, I would be here cheering him on. But I can't. Not with what I might know. We will find out today or tomorrow what really is happening." Barricade came to a stop in the room, noticing that Simmons had set up a table with computers and files. "This man does not wait around."
"Barricade! Bumblebee!" Seymour said enthusiastically, smiling as Saphira got out of the car and the two autobots transform after he closed the door. "How are the two of you? I hope you have been good. It feels like a lifetime since I last saw you."
Barricade smirked a little as he gazed down at the man. "Yeah…I don't exactly have the most savory memory of you, Simmons. But we have the same goal." He glanced at the computers and walked closer before he saw a blonde man looking up at him sternly. "And who is this man?"
"Oh, he's my assistant and bodyguard, Dutch." The man smiled proudly, and Dutch was also proud to be introduced. "He is a wiz with technology, and the best asset we got here. He's clear for classified information as well, so you need not worry. He will help us get to the bottom of this."
Barricade eyed off the man curiously, before he seemed to accept it. "It seems we have some much needed aid. If you have a spare computer, I wish to make use of it. It will help with having direct access to human data. You might be good, but you aren't an autobot."
Dutch smiled at the bot, though seemed a tad nervous with the former decpeticon looming over him. "I have a spare laptop for you. Shall I leave it on the desk here for you?"
Barricade sat down with a shrug. "Yup, just leave it there." The man grabbed out the spare laptop, turned it on and placed it on the desk. Barricade reached out to it before extending small tendrils to connect to the laptop. He turned his head and saw Saphira watching curiously, making him smile at her. "How else do you expect us to learn about your world?"
She shrugged and let out a chuckle. "I did wonder how Optimus and the others learned our languages without direct connection…though I guess…" She looked at Bumblebee who began to act innocently. "You had a hand in it, didn't you?"
"I got no idea what you are talking about," The bot responded through the radio. "But we have a bigger problem to worry about than wondering how we know your languages, little sister."
"Bee is right." Simmons had a smile on his face as he walked over to the desk. "And let's ensure Megatron gets this message. Let's tango!" Saphira rolled her eyes as she began pouring over the files that Simmons had. "I guess you might know who some of these people are, Saphira. All these people had been killed recently."
Saphira nodded, spotting an image of Jerry Wang, and the article that he had been killed in a car accident. And it was the same day he warned her too. She sat down at the desk as she gazed over them. "Yeah…I know him." She points to Jerry's photo. Bee loomed over curiously as he gazed at the files. "He tried to warn me about something regarding the moon, and why no one's been up there since Apollo."
"I mean…there must be a reason for that." Simmons began to pin the pictures of the slaughtered men onto a board, all with articles of their deaths. "If that Jerry Wang gave you a warning, he must have had a good reason." He looked at the girl curiously after pinning the picture of the man on the board. "I don't suppose you have any evidence."
Saphira shook her head. "No…it was destroyed. Laserbeak caught wind of it, and he attacked me." That surprised Simmons, though he got over the surprise quickly as he knew that the decepticons must have been watching Jerry. "I think Jerry would have been killed regardless of what happened…but Lasterbeak was able to destroy the evidence I had. And…unfortunately…NEST was not in a listening mood. They only decided to place me under autobot protection again."
"Those bastards should have ensured that from the start. I don't understand it, but I am not working for the government anymore either." The man shook his head, walking around the table as he looked at the other information that they had. "At least we got something. We have to break down this case if we are to understand this." The man looked up at Barricade who was still concentrating on his search. "It's good you changed sides, big man." The bot looked at him in surprise when he was addressed. "You've been telling everyone about your suspicions, and it is a shame no one's listened."
The bot smiled a little at the man. "Thank you, Seymour. However, a part of me does wish that this might not be true. I do not know what actually happened between Sentinel and Megatron. I only heard whispers about it, and I could have easily misheard. But everything is happening in a way that is making me think I am right. I don't like it…but I think we just need to confirm it."
The man nodded in agreement, and looked at the board curiously. Not only were there images of government agents, but there were astronauts and military personal that seem to be dead because of the decepticons. "What we have here is an astronaut epidemic." He began pointing at the images, glancing over the articles briefly. "MIA. Dead. Died in a car accident. Killed. DOA. Car death. It's like these guys can't drive." He let out a light chuckle as he shook his head in slight amusement. "They can fly into outer space, but they can't drive a car."
"And yet, it certainly is not likely to do with that. But the decepticons have certainly made it seem so. They all knew something that they did not want the world to know." Saphira looked at Dutch and leaned slightly to look at the computer screen he was working on. "I don't suppose you found anything, Dutch? I imagine there are files that you might be able to drag out of classified folders from the government somewhere."
The man nodded. "Actually, yes, I have." Simmons walked over to look at the computer. Bumblebee leaned slightly to look at the computer as he watched silently. "Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. It says that NASA launched it in 2009."
"Interesting…" Saphira frowned a little as she pondered on it and looked at Dutch. "I don't suppose you could also take a peak at Hotchkiss Gould Investments?" Dutch looked at her in surprise, as did Simmons. "Yeeaahh, I should mention that the CEO has been…trying to flirt with me."
"Flirt?" Simmons burst out into laughter, making Saphira frown at him. "Are you kidding?" She shook her head. "If only he knew that there is no one on this planet man enough for you. I bet if Superman was here, you would still look the other way. Because there is only one type for you, and he's made of metal and energon."
Saphira felt her cheeks heat up and she giggled a little, looking away from the man. "Simmons, that's…um…true. But…" She snorted a little as she began to giggle some more. "Your choice of words, Seymour…"
The man stopped laughing suddenly, with his face immediately changing to a stern frown. "However, if that is the case, is the flirting even something we should be concerned about? Just because the guy may not know you are taken by a larger than life being, that isn't going to be a warrant of concern."
"Maybe not…but…he's said a few things that has caught my mind. I mean, his company works with NASA, for example. And he has somehow found me. I don't know how, but he has." That made Barricade narrow his optics, unhappy that he was hearing that. And both Dutch and Simmons realize that the might have to look into this man's business. "So…if you can, maybe he also works for the decepticons."
"I suppose that means you are good at catching the fish, Saphira." She rolled her eyes and smirked in amusement at Simmons's comment. "But we will certainly take a closer look at him. I want to know more about this Lunar Reconnaissance Order. Looks like Jerry Wang had something to with it, according to this file."
Saphira nodded in agreement. "Hmm…forensics show that Jerry messed with the code, preventing it from mapping the far side of the moon, which is also the dark side. Something that he told me about before he was killed. I guess there was some guilty conscious he had when he came to me to warn me…even though it was the last thing he did."
Simmons nodded in agreement. "So it would seem. Hmmph." He took a seat to relax with a deep sigh. "They infiltrate us, they imitate us…" He glanced up at Bumblebee and Barricade. "No offence, since you have your special holoforms and all." Both bots roll their optics at him, and don't respond. "They coerce us to do their dirty work. And once they're done, doosh!" She raised an eyebrow at the man. He was certainly a master at keeping things light when it was something heavy. "Double-tap to the cerebellum."
"I wonder how far back humans have been working for the decepticons for. It seems like they've been using humans, maybe even before the fifties. It's too bad you don't know that detail, Barricade. It would be interesting to know if it is generational." Barricade did not respond as he was deep in concentration, and his expression said he might have found something. "Still…they went for humans working closely with the government and space program, it would seem. So clearly, they are after something."
Simmons shook his head. "No, no…I think this is not about the decepticons looking for something. It seems to me they are trying to hide something. Which means…" He looked up at Barricade. "You might actually be correct, even if it is something you wish that was not the case."
Barricade did not respond. He was very focused on his task on trying to find more evidence. And it seemed as though he was definitely finding something. Saphira could not help but agree with Simmons. Now that they are looking at what they got, it certainly seems as though the decepticons have been trying to keep stuff hidden on the moon. And it made sense, since Sentinel was found on the dark side of the moon, and there might be more they don't know about.
"But...this doesn't actually mean that Sentinel had some kind of deal with Megatron. For all we know, Megatron has some other plan that could involve Sentinel." Saphira rubbed the back of her right hand thoughtfully as her mind went over everything. "And to be fair, it is only now that we are realizing that the decepticons are hiding something. I wonder if the Fallen even knew about it."
"I wouldn't be surprised, to be honest. He and Megatron teamed up to destroy our sun, but I must admit, I have always wondered why. Megatron has never seemed like someone who likes taking orders from someone else. So the fact that he allowed himself to be told what to do by some ancient, former Prime is curious to me." Barricade turned his head to look at Simmons when the man spoke about that. "You have to agree with me, Barricade. He seems like the type of guy who would only team up with someone if it benefits him."
"I think you might be onto something, Simmons. It is true, Megatron owes allegiance to no one. Although, I don't believe the Fallen is the only one who he speaks to. I have overheard him whispering to someone, but never figured out who. But I don't think they exist anymore, so we might not have to worry about that." He looked back at the laptop for a moment and looked back at Simmons and Saphira. "But I believe I have found something. I found, and I am downloading missing Russian cosmonauts. Turns out, the Soviets cancelled a manned mission to the moon. The moon, in 1972…" The printer began to print out documents that Barricade had found, and Simmons quickly grabbed them up. "Then two of the cosmonauts went into hiding in America. And I just found them alive."
Simmons looked at the pages as he gathered them, looking at the pictures and information. "Had we known you were good at using the internet Barricade, we could have really used your help when the young lady was fleeing Megatron and the Fallen a couple years ago."
"To be fair, so can Bumblebee. He could have done the same, even though his location would have been found out." Barricade smirked as he glanced at Bumblebee with a teasing expression. "How else do you think that Bumblebee finds sentences and words through the radio? He gets words from various media sources, not just the radio."
"I mean, it isn't too hard to understand," Bumblebee responded sarcastically. "I have great connections, and I am proud it." He let out of a light chuckle as Saphira looked up at him with a grin. "Now we need more connections to find the men."
Barricade nodded. "I agree. I might have found them alive through the internet, but I do not know where they would be." He looked down at Dutch as he saw that the man was working hard to locate the cosmonauts. "I don't suppose you will find them."
"Of course, I will. Tracking people is in my blood, and I am very good at it." Dutch does not look up at Barricade as he remained focused on the computer. "Once I have the information we need, I can go and get the car ready."
"Car?" Saphira smirked a little, amused that it would be mentioned. "I think Bumblebee and Barricade are more than happy to help transport the both of us to the destination. You don't need to go wasting fuel when there is not need for it."
Simmons let out a chuckle. "Sure, that might be true. But…" He glanced up at Barricade and Bumblebee. "No offence to the both of you, I have my preferences in comfort. And that does not include riding with autobots, or a former decepticon like yourself."
Barricade chuckled softly at the man in amusement. "I see. I suppose I am a little bit intimidating. Though it somehow seems to have brushed past Saphira." She rolled her eyes at him in amusement. "But if you want to go driving in your own car, that is fine. Might look less suspicious that way if we have another vehicle."
"And I picked up on Dino and Sideswipe, they just left a message for us," Bumblebee said suddenly, surprising Saphira, Simmons, Dutch and Barricade. Though Barricade focused and he seemed to notice the signals of the other bots as well. "They are waiting outside the mansion."
"They must have followed your signals here." Saphira was not too upset by that at all. "Having extra autobots around is going to be nice." She stood up from her chair and stretched up her arms. "How long do you think it will take for you to find these cosmonauts, Dutch?"
The man looked at saphira with a smirk. "Would it make you feel better if they are here in Washington?" She widened her eyes in surprise at his response and he chuckled softly at her. "I have found them. And there are a few places we can check out to locate where these men might hang out, and I know where they are." He stood up from chair and bowed politely to Simmons. "I will go and get the car ready, sir."
Simmons nodded as Dutch walked away to get the car prepared and he turned to look at Saphira. "So when did this Sentinel Prime arrive, anyway? It must have been rather recent. I don't remember Prime ever speaking about him, but Prime has not really spoken to me much since the first night we met."
"I can't say I blame him." She smirked at him in amusement before she thought more on Sentinel. "Sentinel Prime's been here for a few days now. We had just had a camping trip, and I had hoped to be able to get on his good side. I think I have, because he did not want me to be harmed. But it seemed like, when he told me that, there was a plan going on. And even if he did not want me involved, I am clearly still involved because of my relationship with Optimus."
"Hmm…I guess there must have been a bit of hope, given he's a Prime too." Saphira and the two bots nod in agreement. Simmons rubbed his chin as he thought about it. "It is a shame. I suspect that there was some kind of history between Optimus and Sentinel, and if it was a good history, it is a shame. Having another Prime on our side would have been immensely helpful. But I guess fools will be fools."
Saphira nodded in agreement. "Yeah…not much we can do, but potentially fight Sentinel…which I wish we did not have to." She took a deep breath and sighed loudly. "When he first arrived, he had attacked Optimus after being woken up. I don't know if it was confusion or something else. I would hate it if Sentinel had attacked Optimus because he thought Optimus found out about something."
"I thought the same thing, to be honest," Barricade admitted slowly, giving Saphira a sympathetic expression when she looked at him. "Sorry…I don't want to say it, but Simmons said it first. Still…I had my concerns that Sentinel attacked Optimus because he did think Optimus knew his plan. That is…if we can prove that Sentinel indeed is working for Megatron."
"But we must find the Russian cosmonauts first." Simmons stood up and straightened his suit. Saphira did wonder why the man chose to wear a suit, but she guessed that with his new money, he enjoys dressing nicely. "I think we should get going." He turned around and walked towards the door. "I can hear the car, so Dutch is ready for us. Come, Saphira. I know you probably want to travel with one of your autobot friends, but you should travel with me. We need to be able to communicate. Plus, you probably will like the ride."
Saphira had wanted to travel with Barricade, but she guessed since Simmons had a good reason, she figured she should follow him anyway. She walked over to the doors as Simmons opened it, and she had to look twice when she saw a white Maybach 62 S Landaulet. Dutch had also grabbed a chauffeur hat and he was holding the door open to the back of the car. Saphira knew the price of these cars was quite high. She never thought to buy one, simply because she did not feel the need to buy one.
"Well, what do you think?" Simmons asked as he saw her staring at the car. "If we are going to go chasing a couple of Russian cosmonauts, we might as well chase them in style. Nothing like a Maybach, huh?" He chuckled as she stepped into the car and took a seat, getting comfort since the backseat was uncovered. "Come and sit down in a fine, German made vehicle."
Saphira rolled her eyes in amusement at him. "You are totally hilarious." She turned to look at Bumblebee and Barricade. "I guess you both should transform and drive out." They both nod and transform before driving out to the road, and she was about to follow, when she saw Sideswipe's holoform walking towards her. "Oh, Sideswipe! I'm surprised you and Dino are here."
The bot just shrugged with a smile on his face. "Yeah, well…probably because I was asked to. Mearing noticed that the signals from Bumblebee and Barricade are here, so she sent us to keep an eye on you. I think she knew you were here with Seymour."
Saphira was a little surprised, but she just smiled at him. "Well, I appreciate that you have come here. If you want to know what we are doing, have Barricade catch you up to speed. You can come with us. We just have a few things to check out, and it is in regards to Sentinel Prime and the decepticons."
Sideswipe glanced towards Barricade with a calm expression before looking back at Saphira. "I had hoped that you did not find anything more. But I guess we all were hoping for that." He walked her over to the Maybach with Dutch waiting with the door open patiently for her. "Sentinel seems nice when we were camping, but there was something I noticed too. Something was off, and I wish I was wrong. But we will face it like we have before, Saphira."
She nodded as she was happy to hear that. She stepped into the car just as Sideswipe's holoform faded. Dutch closed the door and made sure the larger doors the bots had drive through was closed and locked before he got into the driver seat. Saphira could not help but admire the Maybach. It really was a beautiful vehicle. And for a vehicle that was worth a lot of money, it was certainly something Saphira would get to see only once. It was not her style, that's for sure, and she still did not have a new car to replace her Mercedes either.
Still, Saphira could not help but think about Optimus. She did not know what he and Sentinel were doing right now. She hoped that they were not fighting. And maybe, just maybe, the talk might change Sentinel's mind. She really wanted him to be part of the family, but she also knew that it wasn't her decision. If Sentinel decided to go ahead with his plan with Megatron, there was not much that they can do about. They would have to fight.
And now they were on their way to find these Russian cosmonauts. Saphira worried they would not be cooperative. She hoped that they would, but she knew that top secret stuff was very hard to make people convinced that they must tell the secrets in order to save the world. But with some fancy words, they might be able to do it. She just did not know how things were going to end today, so all she could do was reach out to Optimus through the bond to send love through to him. And she felt him sending love to her as well, making her smile as it made her feel happy. Even if things were going to go south soon.
