Parking her old, white Corolla in the parking lot of the restaurant, she could not help but just sit there and stare at the building. Fazbear Horror and Pizzeria Attraction used to be just a pizzeria many years ago. The place has been around for longer than Saphira has been alive. But she knew that because she was there when they opened the horror part of the attraction. It has had many additions to the place since it first opened. But the original pizzeria used to be in a smaller location with a single animatronic, Fredbear, at the Fredbear's Family Diner. It was so popular that the original owner opened a new pizzeria named Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, with a new cast of animatronics. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy, and this location became more popular than the original and the owner closed the first restaurant.

Fredbear was moved to the new location and the popularity for the yellow bear was still there. Saphira knew she was two years old when her parents took her to the pizzeria. She knew this because of old photos of her when she was just a toddler. And she was never afraid of them, according to her mother. This restaurant that people knew now was the newest restaurant. It has been open for thirteen years. Not only were the five older animatronics brought here, but new ones were made as well. This was for a different part of the attraction aimed at younger children. It was named the Toy Plaza, and this is where the toy animatronics had been put. Toy Freddy, Toy Foxy, Toy Chica and Toy Bonnie were created, along with a Golden Bonnie and a different Foxy animatronic called Mangle. Mangle was the animatronic kids could interact with and learn about animatronic parts.

I remember sitting on the floor and tinkering with Mangle. I kind of felt bad that she was almost always there. It was rare when she was activated and allowed to form into a full form.

It felt really weird to be seeing the restaurant for the first time in ten years. The sign seemed a little more run down than she remembered, the outside bright red paint has faded and it just didn't seem as what she remembered it. But it has been many years, and the current owner of the place was more focused on other things. She didn't quite know what the other new areas of the place has been added, but it didn't matter to Saphira. She is applying to be a night guard here, and she had to get used to it.

I hope the animatronics are given better care than the building itself.

She looked at the time on her phone and saw she had fifteen minutes until the interview. But there was no use in just sitting in the car the entire time. She looked at herself in the mirror, making sure she looked decent before gathering her documents and stepping out of the car. She took a deep breath, trying to wash away any of the nervousness she was feeling. She could see a lot of people coming and going from the restaurant. The smiles on their faces reminded her of how she felt when she came here.

Now all I have is bitterness…maybe when I see the animatronics again, that will go away.

She finally took steps towards the restaurant as it was a job that she could get, and she shouldn't be picky on what it would have. At least she would have time to work on her schoolwork at night. That was a benefit of online study. She didn't have to be available for class and it was really good for her. Saphira knew at least she wouldn't have to put up with her bratty sister interrupting her while she is studying.

She looked up at the sign briefly, smiling as she saw the four, famous, animatronics with smiles to welcome anyone into the restaurant. It was a nice logo. She walked up to the automatic door and her nose was immediately tickled by the smell of pizza, pasta, garlic bread and other kinds of food as the doors open. She felt the cool air of the air conditioning as she walked inside and looked around as the memories of her time spending here came back.

She didn't remember it being this dark though. The walls inside seemed to be almost black with bright neon lights along the walls, and the ceiling lights shine down bright on the bright, purple carpet with the faces of animatronics on it. She looked at the counter ahead as people pay to enter the attraction. It has always been this way, given that the place now had many things to offer. She knew in the toy section there was a carousel, mini golf and a playground, which was one of the things that were available here.

She walked over to the desk where she saw a woman wearing a red dress with Freddy's face on both shoulders and brunette hair tied into a ponytail. She had red lipstick on and she glanced at Saphira with a frown. "Can I help you, young lady? The ticket desk is over there."

"Oh, I am not here to get in," Saphira responded in a slightly nervous tone. "I am here for an interview for the night guard position. My name is Saphira Dawn…uh…I accepted the interview request in my email for one pm."

The woman widened her eyes in surprise and typed on the computer. "Ah, yes…Mike did inform me you would be here. You are nice and early, I expected you to be here almost exactly on time. Good thing you are punctual." She picked up the phone and smiled at her. "Give me a moment." She dialled a number and waited before someone picked up at the other end. "Hey, Mike, it's just Lizzy from the Help Desk. I have a Miss Saphira Dawn here for the night guard position. I am surprised you would accept to interview someone this young…uh, yes I know sir, she will probably do a good job…oh, she does online school? Makes sense…alright, I'll let her know. Bye." Lizzy put the phone down and smiled at Saphira. "Mike will be out shortly. He's the owner of this place."

Saphira smiled at her. "I am aware. I think he was the owner ten years ago…I think…"

"He's been the owner for fourteen years and the reason why we have a great location now." The woman glanced over Saphira's shoulder as she noticed someone standing behind Saphira. "Um, just hang around here and wait for Mike. I have other issues to attend to."

Saphira glanced over her shoulder briefly and gave the woman an understanding smile as she moved away from the counter to take a seat on one of the red chairs in the lobby. She looked around curiously as she saw pictures of the animatronics on the wall. Not all of them, just Fredbear, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy. This was because they were still the most popular of them all. Even Fredbear, despite the age of the animatronic. It was good he was still around to this day, even though he is at least thirty years old.

Though with time, it is possible the original animatronic is gone and this is a new model, and no one would know about it.

She tapped her foot nervously as she waited for Mike to greet her. She did not know what to really expect. She watched as people entered the pizzeria and saw some people leave. She was glad she wouldn't have to be dealing with people when it is extremely late at night. Maybe some of the other employees, but that was it. She was happy that dealing with customers was something she wouldn't have to do.

She turned her head when a staff door opened and she saw a clean, shaven man walk out wearing black pants, shoes and a long sleeve, white suit. He smiled at her and she smiled back at him politely, standing from her seat. "Saphira Dawn, it is a pleasure to meet you…" He extends his hand out to her and she shakes it. "I am Mike Schmidt, the owner of this fantastic restaurant. I was overjoyed when someone sent in an application just minutes after posting the ad on the internet."

Saphira smiled at him as she looked at his brown eyes and dark, short hair. "Yes, well…I am looking for work where it will fit in with my current studies. And this position seems to be one that fits well."

Mike smiled at her and gestured for her to follow him back through the staff door. "I would say that you have picked well, Saphira. There are not many people your age willing to bite the bullet and work in a job like this. But I assure you, once you are told what to do, working here is a breeze."

She hoped that was the case because she definitely didn't want it to be too difficult. "I would have to agree. Apparently, according to my mother, there are a lot of weird rumors about this place. But I don't think they are true. I mean, I used to come here as a child."

Mike turned to look at her with a smile. "You did? Really?" She nodded affirmatively. "Well, that is good news. I like it when those who had visited the restaurant as a child come back to work here. I hope that means you still hold it as a special place in your heart."

She shrugged a little. "I am not sure how to answer that. It has been ten years since I've been here."

"Ah, right." Mike didn't seem worried by that as he leads Saphira passed the main dining hall. She turned her head to see a lot of people sitting down and eating food. She spotted the three animatronics on stage, and they were currently singing. "Don't mind the guests, they're just enjoying the lunch time stage show that happens everyday." Saphira nodded. She remembered those. It was a lot of fun. "I guess it probably hasn't changed much since you have been here, but people still enjoy it."

"Yeah, it seems to be the same. I understand Foxy will come out afterwards to tell some kind of pirate story. Does that still happen?" The man nodded as they walk into a long hallway. Saphira sniffed a moment as she noticed the musky odour in the hallway and the dim lights. It felt rather dark here and she raised an eyebrow. "Little dark here for staff, isn't it?"

The man chuckled and waved his hand casually. "Don't worry, I like to keep the feeling of the restaurant all over. Even in the staff areas. You'll get used to it. The main staff lockers are there…" He points towards a door to the right as they pass by it. "Almost everyone put their stuff in there. But you won't need it since you'll be here…" He gestures to the left and Saphira saw there was a long window and looked inside to see a large office with two desks. "This is my office during the day, and the nightguard's office at night."

"I see…" Saphira looked around at the office as she entered. It wasn't huge, but it was reasonable. She looked at Mike's desk to see a computer with paper on the side and a filing cabinet by the desk. "I see you keep well organized."

"I have to be when I run a place like this. Especially with a new area opening in the near future. Have a seat…" Mike gestured to the empty office seat across from his desk in front of the nightguard's desk. "Don't worry, the previous nightguard didn't have any illness. He left us yesterday, and we need to replace him as soon as possible."

Taking a seat on the black chair, Saphira looked at the monitor in front of her and saw it was a camera monitor. The tablet on the desk was interesting and she turned her head to look at Mike with a smile. "I am not worry about the previous nightguard. I am curious about this job. What exactly do I do here?"

"Well, your shift starts at nine and ends at six, and during that time it is pretty basic. The first few hours is when the other employees clean and prepare to leave the building, so you're really here to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't do much at that time. Once midnight comes, you'll be on your own." She nodded slowly in understanding as she listened to the man speak. "From there, you'll just have to check the entrances and important areas to make sure they are secure and locked, and after that, it's literally keeping an eye on the place. The tablet there has different things you need to watch for, but I can explain that to you if you get the job. Does this sound like something worth your time?"

Saphira didn't think the job sounded too difficult at all. "I think the job sounds pretty breezy to me. I definitely think I can do it. I am not good fighting, if I need to defend myself, but I am sure a quick call to the police will be enough."

Mike seemed happy with her answer and smiled at her. "That is good to hear. So basically, this place will be your home away from home while you work here. The bathroom is always clean and you don't really have to worry about anything. Break ins don't happen much, though since the animatronics are expensive, people only seem to try and get them when they break in."

"I think that makes sense. There wouldn't be anything else here that people would want to steal, I guess." Saphira shrugged a little as it certainly sounded like a job she would be okay with. "Sounds like a job I can do, Mike. And I am sure that I wouldn't mind spending time with the animatronics here at night anyway."

"I am sure you won't mind at all. And just so you know, you could be the very first female nightguard here…" She widened her eyes in surprise, though shrugged as it made sense. Most women wouldn't want to work the night shift. "But it is very safe anyway, so it is definitely great you want to work here."

"I think it is just a job. I am not afraid of the dark, and I work better at night anyway. So this job is pretty much perfect for me." Saphira smiled at him, hoping that she will get the job. "Which means you'll have zero complaints from me when it comes to coming here for the shift. I like the idea of sleeping during the day."

"Perfect! We find a lot of people struggle with that, so a night owl is the best person we can have here." Mike wrote down some notes and seemed to be happy about the interview. He wasn't asking the normal questions, which was fine. "So you don't mind that you could be working everyday, right?"

Saphira widened her eyes in surprise. "Oh, I didn't realize it was that kind of job…but…" She thought about it and shrugged. "If it isn't as difficult as what you say it is, I think that will be fine."

"Wonderful! I think this job is yours, Saphira…" She frowned a little, not sure if she heard that correct. Mike finished writing notes and looked up at the girl with a smile. "Would you like to start tonight? If you come in at eight-thirty, you can get your uniform and acquainted with everything you need to do here."

"Hold up, are you serious?" Saphira was not expecting him to say that she had the job. "I have the job?" He nodded with a smile. She was silent in disbelief at the moment as she had no words. Finally, she smiled in delight. "Oh my god, thank you! This is honestly amazing! I didn't think I would get told at the interview."

"Meh…" The man waved his hand casually with a chuckle. "We don't like sending you home and calling you later. We prefer letting you know right in the interview if you have it or not. And I think you are the perfect candidate for this job position." He lifts his hand to shake her hand. "Congratulations! Welcome to the family at Fazbear's Horror and Pizza Attraction."

Saphira shook his hand happily and stood up. "I guess I have to tell everyone the good news. But I am curious about a certain animatronic." Mike raised an eyebrow as he stood up. "Is Springtrap still here? I used to hang out with him a lot as a kid."

The man nodded. "Oh yeah, he sure is. He's in the new horror part of the facility. We designed it after a haunted school, so it's called the Haunted Classroom. But Springtrap isn't always there, but he is almost all the time with the phantom animatronics. It will be connected with the new nightmare area when it is finished."

Saphira was really happy to hear that. "I am glad. I used to think of him as a good friend as a kid. Now he's got his own area, and there are new animatronics coming. What other areas of the place did you open up?"

"The Chica's Love chapel, which is basically rooms for hire for adults," Mike responded with a cheeky smile. "We had a few people ask about that, and it's rather popular. There's a bar in that area too, so it's a no go for kids."

"Ah…me too, right?"

"Not at night. The area gets a thorough clean, so there are no nasty surprises." He turned to the doorway of the office and Saphira realized it had no actual door. She shrugged, thinking that just might not be needed for this place. "You will have free reign to pretty much every part of the restaurant while on duty, Saphira. I think you will like it."

She certainly will. Solitude was something she quite enjoyed. She glanced around at the hallway to familiarize herself and she noticed Mike was taking her to a different place. "Already giving me the grand tour?"

"Actually, I figured you should say hi to an old friend," Mike said with a smile, glancing over his shoulder at her. "You did say you used to hang around him regularly." She was surprised that he would bring her to see Springtrap. She guessed it was to try and get her excited for the job. "I believe he's currently just entertaining some kids right now, but we can go and disturb him."

Saphira didn't really care. She didn't think too much as he was an animatronic. A robot, and she didn't think it would matter to him. Mike brought her to the Haunted Classroom and he was not lying about the place looking like a haunted school. She noticed a few windows here seemed to be wide open, but she ignored them for now. She heard laughter coming from a classroom and a group of kids run out of the room with excited screams.

"I see Springtrap is still giving his students a hard time," Mike joked with a light laugh as he walked into the room. "Hello, old friend. I have some good news for you. We got a new nightguard…" Saphira walked into the room, seeing it was a worn down classroom and stepped around Mike to see the animatronic. "She's an old friend of yours, according to her."

Saphira stared at the animatronic she used to be close with. He is designed after Bonnie, but is really withered in appearance, with a greenish, yellow paint job and his design made it look like he had guts inside his stomach. But it was all fake. She knew this as a child she would touch his stomach numerous times and Springtrap's design was simply to make it look like he had organs. But he did not. His right ear is almost completely destroyed with wires seemingly hanging out everywhere. He has always been seen as creepy. And yet she saw him as cool as a kid.

Springtrap was looking at her and she felt a little awkward as she expected the robot to not really notice her. "I am not sure if you remember her, Springtrap, but Saphira here used to come here regularly. I think it's been ten years or so…" The animatronic's jaw seemed to clench a little though didn't really react much. "Not sure of the reason…"

"I'd rather not talk about it," Saphira interrupts gently, smiling at Mike who looked at her in surprise. "Sorry…it's a raw topic for me." She looked at Springtrap, and she couldn't help but feel like he was…frowning? She wasn't sure, but his eyelids were angled in a way that he seemed angry. "It's good to be back…"

"It sure is!" Mike placed an arm around Saphira's shoulders and smiled at her. "I know you'll have a good time." He looked at Springtrap with a smile. "I hope you can treat the lady very nicely, Springtrap. She's a welcome surprise from the past, I think." He looked at Saphira and tugged on her shoulders to get her to turn around. "Alright, I think we should go have a small discussion before we end the interview and you can go home, get a nap, gather snacks and get ready for your first shift."

Saphira turned away from Springtrap and she almost shivered as she felt what seemed like warm breath on the back of her neck from the animatronic. That was a little bit odd, but she decided it was not something to really worry about. She walked away with Mike to discuss a little more about her job, and she gave him copies of her ID before moving forward. After that, she was allowed to return home. She couldn't help but feel excited by the fact she had a job. Still, she couldn't shake a strange feeling at the back of her mind about the place, but she would ignore it for the time being.
