Saphira stood in her room smiling at the mirror. She was very happy that she had a job and she had managed to get a little bit of sleep in during the day. When she returned her home with the good news, her mother was less than pleased to hear about it. She told Saphira that she really should reconsider working at the establishment, but Saphira has already made up her mind and her mother was not going to convince her otherwise. That didn't stop Alana from pressuring her, and when her father arrived home after five in the afternoon, he too joined in. James also believed in the strange stories about the restaurant, not because of the grief they all share of what happened ten years ago.

She had just showered to freshen up and hairdried her hair. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail and she was really happy about tonight. She might not be wearing a uniform right now, but she was wearing the same nice jeans and a white blouse instead of the shirt she had earlier. She figured it was fine, since she probably will make a habit of not going in wearing the uniform and change when she gets there. She hoped she would get a couple outfits so she wouldn't just have the one everyday.

As she stood looking at herself, she was thinking back to her childhood and the many days she would spend at the restaurant. She smiled a little and turned her head towards one of her cabinets. Inside, there were several photo albums that Saphira kept and turned many into wonderful scrapbooks. One of these was tidied My Friends at Freddy's. She walked over to it and opened the door, looking at the book that has sat closed for ten years. She hasn't even opened the book once during this time. The bitterness and pain from ten years ago was still rather raw.

She thought about opening it and going through, but decided against it. She closed the door and looked at the time. It was seven and she decided to head downstairs to join her family for dinner so that she would not go hungry during the night. Though she had been packing some snacks to take with her so she could nibble on. The only thing she hoped to know if she could use the restaurant's kitchen or staff room to make herself coffee. She knew she was going to need it on the first night.

"I see you have come down to join us." Saphira looked up when she heard her father's voice. She smiled at him as she walked over to the table. James currently works in a high end office and has been working to get a promotion recently. It was something he was talking about, and Saphira was happy for him. Unlike her, he had red hair and blue eyes, Saphira sometimes wondered how she ended up with black hair and green eyes. But it was a dominant trait in her mother's side, apparently, so it was not surprising. "I don't suppose we can change your mind about going to work tonight?"

Saphira shook her head as she sat down, smiling at the food there was on the table ready to be eaten. "I am afraid not, dad." She grabbed her plate to fill with chicken, vegetables and mashed potato. "I do not think the rumors are all true. I think people have made up a lot of stories about the restaurant because it has been a horror establishment for many years now. It is only natural people come up with stories. Besides, the strangest one you all keep telling me that nightguards never last after five nights. That seems weird."

"And you don't think that it happens?" Alana asked as Saphira finished piling her plate. "The fact there is a lot of people saying it…"

"Doesn't mean it is real, mom. Besides, I think it is because people get creeped out working there at night. I've been in the back area of the place, and it is pretty creepy. But it is all for aesthetic reasons for the restaurant." Saphira had looked a little bit into the rumors, but she didn't find anything remotely true. She didn't believe that nightguards disappear from the restaurant. The most believable thing she could find was the amount of people that talk about breaking into the place and scaring their friends. It seems to be a regular thing amoung teenagers and young adults at this time. "You know you shouldn't believe everything that you read online. Facebook is not the best source of information, and you know it."

"Well…that might be true…" Alana poked at the mash potato on her plate as she thought about it. "But when there are so many…"

"It isn't too different to finding multiple people talking about some kind of conspiracy theory that isn't even fact. And I haven't found any solid evidence to even prove it, so I think it is just stories to scare people about the restaurant." Saphira really did not want to talk about it at all. "Besides, the job itself is not even difficult. Mike seems like a nice guy, and I think I will enjoy my job. Can you please just be happy for me?"

Alana and James glance at each other with sad expressions. They both wanted to protect Saphira, but they could see she was confident about this. And she was not wrong about Facebook groups that were questionable. So they could see why Saphira would have a hard time believing that it was possible that Fazbear Horror and Pizzeria Attraction would have blood stained in the establishment. But they were still worried about her. However, they didn't want to make her upset. Roxy was ignoring the whole conversation as she was playing on her Ipad while eating dinner and had her earphones on at this time. Not that it mattered, since the girl would only say something stupid.

"We are just…worried about you, Saphira," James said gently, making her glance at them with a frown. "We don't want you to get hurt. But…you are almost an adult now and you are old enough to make decisions. If there is a bad consequence that comes from this…well…it will be because your choice, I suppose."

"Thank you."

Alana took a deep breath and sighed loudly. "Very well…I am afraid we cannot be happy for your decision, Saphira. However, if you last more than a week at the place and prove it is not dangerous as I am led to believe, our view will change."

"So I have a week to change your minds, huh?" Saphira rolled her eyes and shook her head in disbelief. "Well…I guess I can accept that. Not much I can do to change your minds I suppose."

"We love you, Saphira," James said gently, looking at her with a sad expression. He did not want his daughter to be hurt. "We do not need another bad memory connected to that restaurant."

She made no comment and focused on finishing her food. She knew she could not convince her parents to be happy for her, so she could only go to her job and work as best as she could. So she began talking about something else, though it was a challenge to even get a response from her parents. It was clear that they were simply unhappy and that wasn't going to change, no matter how much she tried to change the subject.

When she finished, she helped with cleaning up before heading up to her room to grab a few of her schoolbooks that she's been using for study. She made sure she had everything she needed and put it into her bag for the night. She doubted she would start any kind of study until after midnight anyway. She wouldn't be in any hurry with her schoolwork anyway. Her job will come first, and she had no idea how the first night was even going to go. She doubted it would be bad though, so she had very little worry.

When it was eight, Saphira gathered her things, grabbed her keys and made her way downstairs. Roxy had been put to bed at this time, so she wouldn't have to see her. She hugged her parents and left the house to drive to the restaurant. At this time, she was feeling a little nervous. She figured it was because that it was her first shift, and it was natural to feel nervous about something new.

When she arrived at the parking lot, she saw that it was still rather full. It was a Monday night, and she was surprised at how busy it was. She was just glad that she was not someone working in customer service here. It would definitely be a big pain. Checking the time, it was fifteen past eight and she smiled to herself, getting out of the car and making her way to the front entrance. She did wonder if there was a side entrance for staff, but she figured she would be told that once she stepped inside.

She walked through the automatic doors and smiled, the front was busy with people at the moment and she walked towards the staff door. She didn't see anyone familiar, though the employees seemed to be a little busy at the moment anyway. She opened the door and walked through to head towards the office, expecting to find Mike there.

She hummed to herself, looking around the dull hallway to get familiar with it and paused when she heard a loud voice from the office ahead. She recognized Mike's voice, and he sounded frustrated. "Sir, everything is going according to plan!" There was a pause before he snapped back. "The nightmares will arrive on schedule, as you asked me to. You don't need to worry about it…I know, I know! The animatronics still need to do their work until we can go through with the plan!"

Plan? A new establishment?

"I am pleased to hear that. I had better go, the new nightguard will be here in a moment…yeah, yeah, first girl to be a nightguard…" He laughed a little and he was not as frustrated. "I think she will fit right in, sir. Don't you worry. I best be going. Have a good night!"

She held her breath as she had not meant to eavesdrop, but that was a weird conversation she overheard. She didn't know who he was talking to, but maybe it was a shareholder. She shrugged, deciding maybe it was best to not worry about it and forget she ever overheard the conversation. She walked forward and looked through the window into the office, seeing Mike writing notes at his desk.

He looked up and smiled when he saw her waving. "Saphira!" He stood up to greet her as she walked through the door and he extends his hand to shake her hand again. "Welcome back. I hope you had a great day today."

"It was fine." Saphira smiled at him as she looked around. "Can I put my bag just anywhere?"

"Yeah, yeah…" Mike gestured to an empty shelf beside the desk and Saphira noticed a vent by it briefly, though took no reason interest in it. "You can put your stuff there. You won't really need a locker since this is where you'll be working mostly. Anyway…" He picked up folded clothes off his desk and held it out to her as Saphira placed her bag onto the lower shelf. "This is your uniform. I have two more you can take so you can have a few pairs, but let me know if you require more. I know I didn't ask your size, but it wasn't hard to guess."

Saphira smiled as she looked at the clothes in her hand and looked at Mike happily. "That is fine. I would have said small. As long as your clothes don't run small, of course, I should be fine."

Mike chuckled and gestured to the door behind him. "This is the office bathroom. You can go and get changed in there. I'll go through with you a few more things once you are done."

She nodded and walked over to the red door and stepped into the small bathroom, locking the door behind her. She was pleased that the bathroom was very clean. It had no bad odour and the toilet lid was down, so that was good. She placed the clothes on top of the lid and got undressed quickly before slipping them on. The pants was black and light, which was pretty nice. The button up shirt was white with a Freddy face logo on the right side of the shirt with security written underneath the face. It was simple, but it was a uniform.

She made sure her hair still looked decent before grabbing her clothes and stepping out of the bathroom. "So…how do I look?"

"Like a nightguard." Mike smiled at her and gestured for her to sit down. "Alright, I am going to give you a set of keys…" He reached down to the lower drawer of his desk and opened it. Saphira heard the key jingle as she sat down and he pulled them out. "These are keys for the front door and back door, which I will show you in a moment, along with the kitchen door and delivery door. You won't really need to worry about those two doors, but it's mainly to ensure they are properly locked." She nodded in understanding as he gave her the keys. "Now with the computer in front of you…" She swirled around on the chair to look at the monitor. "Is basically the camera monitor. If you use you arrow keys, you can check different rooms of the building or click on different rooms with the mouse."

Saphira was surprised there wasn't as many cameras as she thought, but she clicked through the cameras curiously and smiled when she saw some of the animatronics in them. "Pretty cool…seems like there are blind spots in a lot of these."

"Yes, I know…I don't have the means to provide the best security system, though…" Mike seemed very flustered and embarrassed by this fact with some awkward laughter. "But we don't tell people that. The last thing we need is more teenagers trying to break into the place."

"Ah, so it is true kids break into the restaurant. How unsurprising." Saphira was not at all surprised that was the case, but at least she was aware of that. "What other responsibilities will I have anyway? Do I need to know any protocols regarding the animatronics?"

"Just make sure they are in the place they are left every night," Mike responded calmly. She raised a curious eyebrow, but she did not interrupt him. "As for you other responsibilities…this tablet here…" He picked up the handheld device and turned on the screen. "This controls a few things that seem to play up at night." Saphira looked at the screen and blinked in surprise when she saw three things listed. Audio devices, camera system and ventilation. "Now during the day, these systems are functioning well. But as things get turned off before we leave, there's a weird error in this building that causes these systems to fail sometimes at night, and need to be rebooted."

Saphira was surprised this was part of her job and she looked at him curiously. "Why would the audio system need to be concerned about, anyway?"

"Because it is what we use to scare intruders at night, and to play the music throughout the building during the day." Mike could tell Saphira didn't seem to be convinced though. "When people break in and you see them on the camera, there's an option here…" He points to the computer screen and shows a button on the bottom that says Play Audio. "This activates a scream to scare them. It isn't just a blood curdling scream, but rather something that is inhuman and is something that would come from a monster."

"Right…but not everyone will be bothered by that." Saphira was unconvinced that it would work. "Does it really work?"

"Yes, yes, it works every single time!" Mike responded enthusiastically. "Now your job will be to reboot any of these systems if they sound off an alert. It is needed, because any of these can hurt us during the day if they are not functioning. The camera system is obvious, as I am sure you know. But the ventilation system is what we have to spread clean air around the building. If that malfunctions, the vents close from the outside and some of the vents are close to chemical rooms that will suck in the chemical particles and spread that through the building." That did not sound very good. "And that can cause many things. Headaches, hallucinations, nausea…I could go on about it, so that needs to be rebooted and the system will reopen the vents to let fresh air in."

Saphira was somewhat happy that she would have more tasks to do during the night than just sit, watch the cameras and deal with intruders. It was a lot more interesting than she first thought. "I have never seen a system built like this. But every place has something unique about them. It certainly won't make the nights boring."

"No, they don't. Oh, I almost forgot…" Mike grabbed out a timesheet and held it up. "This is yours, and the machine to stamp your time into your shift is here…" He gestured to the machine behind him and held it out to her. "You best stamp it before I take you around the building to show you a few more areas of the place."

Saphira took the card and slot it into the machine, hearing it go off and pulled it out, looking at the time on the card. She put it into the sleeve beside the machine and followed Mike out of the office. "It seems like the job is still pretty breezy. I know I can handle it."

"Oh, I believe you." Mike stepped out of the office and made a left. "Alright, the back door to this place is at the end here…" He walked down the hallway to the end where Saphira would see a large, grey door. "Most employees come through here. So make use of it so you don't have to deal with customers when you walk in."

Saphira nodded with a smile. "Sounds good. And it's really close to the office and staff lockers."

"Yes, we made sure of that so people can get settled in for the day. Oh, and the staff room is just up here…" He turned around and walked back the way they came. "Feel free to make use of the fridge, microwave, coffee machine and water dispenser. Everything in here is fine for you to use, as long as you clean up after yourself. I hate when people are notorious for just not cleaning up after themselves. Usually it is fine, because I bill that person for the additional cleaning the cleaners have to do after them."

"Well, that is reasonable. I hate cleaning up after someone who can do it too." She had no issue with that at all. He led her to a grey door with Staff Room written on it and he opened it up to a reasonable sized room. There was a bit of bench space with a fridge, sink, microwave, coffee machine and water dispenser. It was a reasonable space. "I will probably make use of the coffee machine while I work here."

"As expected." Mike chuckled a little before turning away. "Anyway…" He walked along the hallway with Saphira and gestures around them both. "The back here is a place customers do not see. There's a spare part room, a room full of seasonal decorations, arcade machine storage and so on. It's mostly dusty in those rooms, and you'll never have to go into them." Saphira just nodded and he opened a set of twin doors into what appeared to be the docking area. Saphira widened her eyes in surprise to see it was large with a forklift parked to the side. "This is where we take almost all deliveries. The kitchen door is where smaller deliveries come to, usually ingredients or something, but here is where we will take most. We mostly get pallets of party supplies, cleaning supplies, new utensils, merchandise, alcohol and large pallets of things like cooking oil, potatoes and flour. And that door there…" He points at a side door by the roller doors. "Is another way some employees go through, and there's been a few incidents where it has been left unlocked. So you'll have to make sure it is locked."

Saphira nodded. "Is this where new animatronics would be brought in as well?"

Mike nodded. "Yep. But we haven't had new animatronics for a while, but with the new nightmare area that will be put into the Haunted Classroom area will have new animatronics. They will probably be here in a few months, but it will be Halloween where we introduce other animatronics as well."

"Wow, two lots of animatronics this year, huh?" Saphira smiled as she felt a sense of excitement. "Hmm…do I maybe get a sneak peak at these animatronics?"

The man chuckled as he leads her to a door and opened it. "Maybe. I cannot promise that you will get a sneak peak, but I might consider it." He walked through the door and Saphira could smell food as she followed him. "Now we are on our way to the kitchen. It is separated into several parts. We have the main kitchen, where our fabulous chefs prep and cook all the delicious food. While we are a pizzeria, we do have other parts of the business. This area is where the main pizzeria is…" He opened the door into the kitchen, and Saphira heard many voices and looked around seeing all the workers. They glance at her and gave her a wave, and she noticed they were mostly cleaning up. "Obviously, pizza is made here, along with a few other sides like garlic bread, pasta and chips. And I know you saw how full we were when you turned up, but the kitchen's closing now since we close at ten and people will be heading home. Anyway, we also have the Mexican selections, salad, handmade desserts and a small kitchen that puts out barbecue food and burgers."

"Does Chica's Love chapel also serve snacks to the adult guests?" Saphira asked curiously.

"Yes, it does. Primarily cheese and cold meat plates, sliders, fries, buffalo wings and nachos, it isn't a big selection, but we don't expect people to want to leave the bar all the time so we offer food. The kitchen there isn't big, and pretty much separate from the rest anyway." Mike pushed open another door, and Saphira saw it leads into the area where the food is stored. "All of the freezers, coolers and dry storage is along here. You don't have to do anything here, but we did have a teenager locked in one of these once, and they almost froze themselves to death."

She grimaced a little, though she was amused. "How did that happen?"

"Uhh…I am not really sure. The kid said she was running from something and thought hiding in the freezer was a good idea. But…" Mike shrugged and pushed open the next door, which leads into what looked like the back of the Haunted Schoolroom. "I think the kid was pranked by someone. She is okay now, but that happened like a year ago."

"Right…so I need to know in case someone could be in there…" Saphira rubbed the bridge of her nose and shook her head in amusement. "I almost had to laugh. That sounded unbelievable."

"Because it was unbelievable, so I don't blame you. Alright…one last thing…" Mike stepped into the hallway where the windows that were wide open were. "These windows will not close, for whatever reason. We have tried replacing them so many times, but they can be opened…but not closed. So this is why we get people sneaking in."

Saphira was surprised by that and she glanced around curiously. "There's not even a security camera watching this though."

"I know. But like I said, I haven't been able to put the best system in, so we can only do what we can. But there are cameras in the rooms around this one, so it's not a huge issue…" He shrugged and turned away to head towards the main party room. Saphira didn't think it should be dismissed, but she really couldn't do much about it. She followed him. "Anyway, customers will be heading out at this point. The animatronics will be getting shut down for the night."

Saphira glanced over her shoulder as she thought about Springtrap. "Uh…would you mind showing me where they are put every night?"

"I think you can find that out when you do your rounds around the restaurant tonight, Saphira," Mike responded. "I feel you won't have any trouble finding them. This place is pretty easy to get around, so you will be fine, Saphira."

She was surprised, though she was somewhat happening. Finding where they were on her own wouldn't be too bad. Saphira kind of wanted to say hello to them without anyone around, so it was perfect. Mike finished his tour by showing Saphira where the Toy Plaza was, Pirate Cove, Golden Bonnie's Storytime and a few other areas before concluding the tour back at the office. Saphira was pleased with it and it was close to ten at this point. Mike encouraged her to start doing her rounds to keep an eye on the other employees as they started to leave. Many of them introduced themselves to her, while others ignored her. It wasn't until it was eleven thirty that most employees had gone. It was just a few of the cleaners who were finishing up the bathrooms.

Saphira sat on the chair, going through the cameras casually. She was able to locate the animatronics through the cameras, so she didn't have to really worry about where they were. The only one she could not find was Springtrap. She found Phantom Bonnie, Phantom Freddy, Phantom Chica, Phantom Foxy and Phantom Mangle in the Haunted Classroom, but not Springtrap. She figured he was off camera somewhere and would find him when she did her rounds once the last of the employees leave. With a coffee in her hand, Saphira sipped and worked on her schoolwork while she waited as she checked the cameras. Mike had already gone home at this point and she felt content.

I think I am going to like it here.
