3:30
She had two and a half hours left, and she thought that time would have passed quicker due to the fact of everything that has happened. But it seemed that it was not the case and she had to endure the next few hours. She had guessed nights might feel a little long, bit she had not expected it to feel this long. She knew she just wanted to go home, and see if she got any bruises and to go to bed. But after being attacked by the animatronics, by a group of teenagers and then witnessing them kill them…
Why was I even saved?
That was a question that Saphira wanted to ask. She forgot to ask Foxy, but she was so worked up that she forgot to. Now she was curious. She held the pendent in her hand, rubbing it thoughtfully as she thought back to what it was like when she was child. The times she spent here were the best memories she had.
I wish it wasn't overshadowed by bitterness and grief.
Saphira looked at the monitor briefly before hitting reboot when she heard an alert from the tablet. She didn't bother checking to see which system needed rebooting. That was no necessary at the moment. Plus, her mind was occupied on other things. Though she was so preoccupied with staring at the pendent she almost did not hear footsteps walking down the hallway.
She jumped when she heard them and saw Springtrap walk in front of the window. He glanced at her before his eyes notice the pendent in her hand. She didn't know of that had something to do with it. But she watched as the animatronic walked to the office door and stood in the doorway.
She didn't know what he was thinking. "I don't know what to say to you…you did just try to kill me…" She flinched when he approached her slowly. "Foxy did give me an idea of how you are feeling…"
"He also told me the reason why you stopped coming here." Saphira widened her eyes a little when she heard his deep voice, which sounded like there was a slight purr in his voice and she was almost reminded of a character…she could not quite pick though. "Were you really in a car accident?" She nodded quickly. "And you expect me to believe that?"
"Uh…well…you probably know car accidents happen…"
Springtrap grabbed the armrest of the chair to turn her to face him. "How do I know that you didn't just make up a story to make us feel guilty for our anger?" She stared at him with wide, fear filled eyes. He glanced down at the pendent and lifts his hand to it. Saphira lets go of the pendent as he held it gently in his fingers. "When Mike told me your name…" He looked at her directly in the eyes. "I almost thought he was joking. Until I realized you looked like that girl who never shied away from me. You quickly became a favorite of mine, and I waited until the end of the day…every, single, day just for you to come and spend time with me." He growled a little as he glared at her. "Do you expect me to really believe that you could not come back?"
She trembled a little as she listened to him. "Springtrap…y-y-you know I was seven…which m-m-means I had n-no say in whether I c-c-c-could come back to the restaurant. E-E-Every child is m-meant to listen to their parents. Even if…I wish it didn't happen…but even if that a-a-a-accident did not happen, I-I had no control. You sh-should know that."
Springtrap glanced away for a moment and looked back at her. "Well…yeah…I guess you are right about that. But…" He glanced down for a moment before glaring back at her. "Your parents always were smiling when you came. So I don't believe they would have stopped you from coming…" He paused as he realized that the car accident could have happened. But that did not matter. "No matter, why did you come here?"
"I-I need a job." Saphira took a deep breath and swallowed nervously. "I am sorry if you thought I w-w-would come back and everything w-w-would be like they were. But they can't! I am seventeen now, Springtrap, I c-c-can't go back to being the cute, adorable girl who would literally hold your hand and make you dance to the music here." He relaxes his glare a little as he listened to her. "And…I had no idea you would even remember me. And…" She grimaced as she could smell his breath, and she could smell blood. "I never knew you ate humans…no wonder I used to think you smelt weird…but I still stuck by you and played with you."
Springtrap stepped back from Saphira, allowing her to sigh in relief as she was still trembling from him being so close to her. "You are right. Going back to that would be foolish…"
"Yeah…but…"
"However…" Springtrap glanced at her with a glare again. "You need to leave." She widened her eyes in surprise. "You already saw why." He looked away from her and she frowned at him. "You need to understand…we did not ask to be made the way we are, but our diet needs to include humans. We do eat food from the kitchen when humans leave for the night. But human flesh is a part of our diet. Trespassers come by regularly enough, but not all the time."
"Are you trying to tell me every night guard before me are dead?" Saphira asked and he nodded affirmatively without looking at her. "Oh…that explains a few things…" She took a deep breath and looked at him with a slight smile. "But you spared my life…"
"So you have the chance to leave. I already got the scent of your blood in my memory, Saphira…" She shivered a little as she knew he wasn't lying. "Fredbear may have given you the scratch, but the scent lingers on my nose." He turned slowly to face Saphira with a serious expression. "This is me telling you to leave. Tonight will be the only night you have here. I do not want you here."
She stared at him, wondering why he was telling her to leave. "Wait…but…" She took a deep breath as she tried to calm her racing heart. "You went from wanting to kill me, to saving me from those teenagers, chose to spare me while you began to rip them to shreds and now you're telling me to leave…this makes no sense…"
"Because I did not think you would come back. I wanted to believe you were not the same child from ten years ago." Springtrap closed his eyes for a moment before opening them and glaring at her. "But you now understand that you will die if you stay. You need to leave."
She tapped her fingers on the armrests of the chair. "It…isn't simple…"
He growled, making her flinch and widen her eyes at him. "Seems pretty simple to me."
She could understand how it would seem that way. "It isn't…I…there are rules to follow…"
"I don't remember night guards being told that they couldn't leave because of rules." The animatronic did not believe Saphira, and she could tell. "And if this is your way of trying to tell me that you won't leave, let me tell you right now…" He stepped closer and towered over her, glaring down at her. "You will regret it as the blood drains from your body. You can forget the kind, loving animatronic you knew when you were a kid. I was made to be a monster…"
I remember he said something like that to me more than once. He used to wonder how I could love him as a monster.
She was about to respond when Springtrap continued. "And do not even think that we can be friends. I do not want to expect that. No one has ever come close to being my friend since you left. And I stopped caring about that a long time ago."
She did not know if she believed him. He would not be extending some kind of grace to her otherwise. She looked away for a moment and looked up at him. "So…you…think we aren't friends anymore?"
Springtrap huffed and rolled his eyes at her. "Ten years is a long time for anyone to get very, very mad at someone, Saphira. Even if what you say is true…" He paused and clenched his hands tightly. He turned around and growled. "You and I can no longer be friends. You might as well toss that necklace into the trash like I did mine years ago." She was surprised he threw the necklace she gave him years ago. "Because when you never came back, I had come to realize that having friendships with a human will only bring nothing but trusting into someone who did not keep their word. No matter the reason. If you return tomorrow, Saphira, I can promise I will not be forgiving."
Saphira realized that Springtrap felt hurt when she didn't come back and she felt a little guilty. He began walking towards the door and she stood up from the chair. "Springtrap…" He stopped and growled again. "I never meant to stop coming. I wish I could go back and stop the car from nearly destroying me life. I honestly…was grieving so much that it wasn't until I was a teenager I began to think about you again. But I never came back…probably because…bitterness towards the happy memories we had here. None of this is your fault…and I never meant to hurt you. I am sorry."
He turned his head slightly to look at her with a side eye. He narrowed it slightly and walked away. "Apology is not accepted. You might be sincere in your words, and what you say might be true…" He paused as he was in front of the window and turned to face her. "But I want nothing more to do with you. If you wish no further harm to come to you, you will leave and never return. Not even during the day."
He's serious…he doesn't want to see me anymore. I never thought a friendship with a child impacted him that much.
Saphira said nothing as he walked away from the office and she was given a chance to breathe properly. She looked at the tablet and frowned when she saw an alert, hitting the reboot button again and sat back down onto the chair, not really knowing how or what she should think. She never once thought that Springtrap would feel pain from her never coming back. And a part of her was guilty for that, but another part was full of reasons why she couldn't come back. The accident was one of them.
Still, she couldn't help but wonder how these animatronics were even alive. They had their own thoughts, it seemed like they were forced to feed on humans regularly and they had feelings. It was something she never thought was possible until now. It was strange, because the animatronics acted like animatronics during the day. She had to think back to when she came here to try and remember times that she might have seen that would be unusual for an animatronic, but normal for someone who is alive and can move fluidly.
This place has more than meets the eye. I know I used to think this place was weird as a kid, and the animatronics just seemed to best the friends in my mind at the time. I had no idea that a tragedy would also lead to pain in an animatronic that I valued as my best friend. And now he is hurting, and I guess seeing me again ten years later and nearly adult like this must be hitting him hard. I think I will come back tomorrow…but I will be careful.
