Running into the main dining room, Saphira saw that the stages were empty. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy have gone somewhere. She suspects they were eating, though she was not a hundred percent sure. Though she had little time to think about that as she slid under one of the tables to try and hide just before Fredbear ran into the dining room as he slammed the door open.
He looked around the room with a frown. "I can hear you, Saphira. Your breathing and heartbeat is as loud as though you were right next to me." She grimaced a little and crawled carefully under the table. Fredbear walked closer to the tables. "Did you come back to make things worse for us?"
Saphira shrieked when he flipped on of the tables, sending it into a wall and it crashed loudly. She was lucky she was under the other table, but she kept crawling. "No, no…I don't…"
"You don't what?!" Fredbear roared, throwing chairs to the wall. "Let me guess, you say you don't want to make things worse." He growled as he grabbed the next table and flipped it as well. She crawled from under the third table and stood up, turning to face Fredbear's angry face. "After what you did, you think you can waltz back in and think everything will be good!" He grabbed the third table and lifts it upward in an attempt to drop it on her. She shrieked as she jumped aside to avoid being hit. "I should have killed you last night! We would all be happy!"
Saphira stared at him fearfully and ran between the other tables as Fredbear followed her. "I…I stay…b-because I want to…help…"
"Help?" Fredbear laughed loudly in a mocking tone and narrowed his eyes at her. "That's real good. You got me! I haven't laughed in a long time!"
"I am not kidding…I…I…think y-you live unfairly," Saphira continued to speak fearfully. "Your life…isn't living."
"Oh, I see…" Fredbear rubbing his chin thoughtfully, while mocking her at the same time. "So…you went home and just realized that this building is the only world we know. And you think you can help us." She nodded and he scoffed. "Don't make me laugh again! Pathetic!"
Saphira shrieked as he grabbed another table and threw it at her. She was surprised that the tables weren't breaking. But she didn't know what would happen in the morning when the other employees arrive. "I…can…f-find who m-made you…and…m-maybe other things…"
"Finding out who made us doesn't change the way our lives are!" Fredbear shouted at her. "Don't you see? We could never live in the world outside this building!" He stalked towards her slowly. "What help would you give? You would keep us hidden from the rest of the world! We are monsters! We are what you humans make for the thrill of horror!"
Saphira understood everything he was saying. She stopped backing away and glanced down for a moment and looked back at him. "Why should that stop me from trying to make up for my absence? Why can't I be allowed to do that?"
Fredbear growled and grabbed her right arm roughly and pulled her closer to him, making her whimper in pain. "Ten years is a long time…and it's a little too late for you. I don't believe you. I stopped believing in humans a long time ago. You're only thinking about yourself! Humans always beg and plead for mercy!"
Saphira nodded in agreement and looked at him in the eye. "Am I?"
He frowned. "Are you, what?"
"Begging for mercy?"
The animatronic hissed at her and she caught the breath of flesh and blood as he breathed out. "You are still trying to squirm your way out of me killing you…normally I don't wait this long…but I have wanted to make you suffer after I saw what you did to Springtrap."
Saphira sighed deeply and glared at him. "I was a little child! Seven-years-old! How could I possibly be to blame?! I could not have known!"
Fredbear growled and shoved her into one of the tables, she yelped as her already bruised side hide the edge and it hurt a lot, though she did not fall. "Child, teenager, adult…it is all the same to me."
Saphira took a deep breath as she tried to control her breathing. "A normal person would have already left, Fredbear. Maybe I am crazy…but…" She paused when she heard footsteps and saw Springtrap entering the room slowly and watching quietly. "We were friends once…I owe it to you. I now have that choice."
Fredbear's eyes glowed slightly and he walked towards her and shoved her against the wall and held her against it. "At least you agree that you owe us…" He glanced at Springtrap with a frown. "I am disappointed you let her live again."
Saphira sniffled a little and he snapped his head back to look at her. "I can't keep apologizing for my absence, Fredbear. I truly am sorry for hurting everyone. I'm not asking to be friends again, but I will help if I am able. I already discovered…some strange things, like the initials of the person who created you."
Fredbear did not believe her as he began to dig his claws into her arms, cutting into her skin. She whimpered in pain, though not begging escaped from her lips. "I don't see that as any help to us! Knowing where we came from will not change anything!" She looked down as she trembled. "Now why don't you beg for mercy? Make me guilty for making you bleed!"
Saphira sniffled as she knew it didn't matter. He was toying with her. "Just end it already…you'll have your revenge…"
Fredbear narrowed his eyes and opened his mouth. She turned her head suddenly, as she did, the necklace pendent slipped out and he paused as he saw it. She wasn't even trying to beg for mercy, which usually happened with every human he has eaten. She was accepting of it.
Springtrap turned around and walked away. Saphira saw him walk away and she glanced at Fredbear. "Well? I'm waiting…W.A will still make more animatronics. I aim not sure if you are aware, but there are more animatronics coming."
Fredbear closed his mouth I surprise. She guessed they had not expected that more coming. He was shocked before frowning and throwing her to the ground again, making her hit her right shoulder. "I am not surprised…it has been a few years and there's a new section being built…"
Saphira nodded and stood up slowly. "I really am sorry…I cannot change the past, Fredbear. I know I can't go back to…singing nursery rhymes with you…" The animatronic widened his eyes and looked away. "I remember doing that with you, and only you. And that giant, fluffy, old dog that used to be in your dining room…so many kids hated it, but I would sit it on your shoulders. We cannot go back…now I know that things are different."
Fredbear grinds his teeth in irritation. "I…am surprised you even remember."
"And…I know that you are hurt. I cannot change that." Saphira rubbed her shoulder with a grimace. "But…could you give me a chance? I…even if we aren't friends, could we be…civil?" He grumbled something under his breath. "I suspect you are feeling the same as Springtrap. A part of you doesn't want to kill me." He glared at her. "I am sorry for causing you conflict…" She looked down for a moment. "But I need this job. I am afraid my life…hasn't been good either. Not since that day. It's not your fault…it's just…I want to escape."
Fredbear frowned. "Escape from me?"
She shakes her head. "Home. I…I have suffocated for many years. I fell into depression…and I guess Springtrap did too. And he took it out on others." Saphira swallowed nervously. "But…I just want to have a chance…please.. I don't want us to be enemies."
Fredbear had not expected Saphira to give him that answer. He always thought she had a good life. Though maybe it wasn't what he thought. Though he swipes his claw across her stomach again, reopening the wounds from the day before. She yelped and clutched her stomach as she stumbled back.
He breathed in her scent, and there was a loud sound of sniffing echoing in the attraction. Saphira guessed they all could smell her scent. Fredbear smirked and gazed at her. "At least you have the sweetest blood." He walked closer to her with a hungry expression. Saphira backed away, no longer wanting to run. "If you think I will give you another chance, I think you mistake me for some kind, cuddly bear. I stopped that years ago."
"I know…I was told that." Saphira stopped backing away and looked at her stomach and looked at him. "If my blood is really worth a lot to you, take it. I don't care." He stopped in his tracks. "I don't have friends…my family spoils by younger sister, and I only get the basics. They changed after the accident…and so did I, Fredbear. I know you don't believe it happened, but…" She took a deep breath and pulled up her right pant leg, revealing a large scar on her calf, and it was not there when she was coming here. "This is what I was left with."
Staring at the scar, Fredbear seemed to be in disbelief. The scar was large and it clearly was a stitch scar. He realized she had been telling the truth. "You…you were not lying?"
"Would I have this if I was? I almost lost my leg, this scar goes all the way up to my hip. That's how bad it was." Saphira took a deep breath. "So if you still think I am lying…you're only lying to yourself, honestly…" She rolled her pant leg back down awkwardly. "But I am sorry for not coming back…not that I had a choice."
Fredbear looked away from her for a moment before looking back. His face had changed to guilt and looked at his hands. "What have we done?" He looked up at her and looked over her body. The injuries, the almost completely torn shirt and bruises suddenly seemed wrong. He took a deep breath and looked down. "We never knew the truth…and we acted…"
"I know…I can't blame you. You probably don't have any other way to cope with such hurt." Saphira groaned as she leaned against the wall, feeling weary. "I need to reboot the system…the air's a little…thin…"
Fredbear widened his eyes and stepped closer. "I can help you back to the office." She tensed visibly as she moved closer, and he saw. "Or…not…" He turned around for a moment, and gasped when he saw Springtrap at the door. He had seen the scar on Saphira's leg. "Springtrap! We were wrong. I think she really did have an accident."
Springtrap had a frown on his face, and seemed to not really care. "It does not matter that she has had an accident. I see now that she did. But…" He walked towards them slowly. "You still cannot remain, Saphira. You would only be putting yourself in harm's way. Your blood is still sweet, and even now, I am having a hard time ignoring it. It would best if you leave."
Saphira took a deep breath and turned to Springtrap. "And…if I choose not to? Will you do me the favor?"
Springtrap was immediately confused. "What do you mean favor?"
Saphira shrugged slightly. "Would you really go through with it? At least my body will be useful for something instead of being ten feet underground."
The animatronics were both surprised. Springtrap shook his head. "I would prefer not to…"
"Why not?!" Saphira snapped, interrupting the animatronic. She walked towards him with a frown. "I am not afraid of dying, and I would have been if my father didn't stop me years ago from doing it!" The animatronics were surprised again, not expecting to hear she has already tried taking her own life. It was something they have heard of, but they never really thought she would. Springtrap took a step back as her scent was still filling his nostrils. "Do you really you were the only one who was affected by what happened ten years ago?! I wish I did come back, because at least I wouldn't have been alone."
His expression softened slightly as he listened to her and clenched his fists. "You have your family…"
She shook her head and turned away from them, walking away quickly as she had enough. "Nobody hears me, Springtrap…they stopped hearing my voice years ago…that is why I do not care if I die. I'd rather at least dying knowing that I will not be wasted than stuck in a deep hole in the ground." She sniffled as tears roll down her cheeks. "I'm used to not having friends…"
She slammed the door open into the hallway and walked towards the office. Tears stream down her face as she was overwhelmed by everything. Not because of the physical pain, but the guilt and just an overall feeling of being worthless…even worthless to the point the animatronics won't kill her to eat. They say her blood is sweet, but they still seem to just…not do anything. While they might still care for her, Saphira knew they did not want to be her friend. They've declared it that much.
But as much as it hurt, she was still determined to stick around. She reached the office and pressed reboot all as she saw all the systems on alert and she sat in the chair to sob quietly. She needed to let it all out. All the pain of being alone these ten years, the pain of losing her younger brother, the pain of her parents paying more attention to her sister and almost never doing anything special with her and the pain of losing her friends, including her friendship that she had built with the animatronics. Plus the new pain she was feeling, which was guilt and sadness, knowing that Springtrap was as alone as she was. At least the animatronics were there for him.
"There, there…" Saphira yelped and sat up in surprise, grimacing at the ache of her shoulder and widened her eyes as she saw Bonnie walking into the room. He was holding a new, folded, security guard shirt. He placed it on Mike's desk as he approached. "I heard everything, Saphira..." He got closer and dropped to one knee, stretching out his hands towards her. "Let it out."
She stared at the rabbit in surprise and sniffled. "But…uh…b-b-b-but my b-b-blood…"
"Is not bothering me." She looked at Bonnie in surprise. His pink eyes gaze at her with a kindness she has missed. "Bring it in, Saphira. Let old Bon Bon take care of you." She shivered a little, but his open arms were incredibly inviting. "I am still your friend."
He's still my friend?
She stared at him before she finally slid off the chair and took two steps forward before throwing her left arm around him and sobbing into his chest. Bonnie wrapped his arms around her protectively and rubbed her back gently. "There, there…" He smiled at her. "I am not going to hurt you. I will be here to help you."
Saphira continued sobbing and she felt the familiar sense of safety she used to feel around Bonnie. She felt safer with him than she ever did with Springtrap, and she didn't spend as much time with Bonnie as she did with Springtrap. She knew from old photos that Bonnie was her favorite before Springtrap came into the picture. Maybe Bonnie grew attached to her too, and he seemed to be okay with her being back. Though…given that he didn't do anything when she was being chased…it was hard to know if that was because of Fredbear or Springtrap.
Bonnie said nothing as he held her and rocked her gently. Saphira sniffled a little and looked up at him. "You haven't changed, Bonnie…" She smiled a little with a trembling, bottom lip. "Not much at all."
"Aw, shucks. I was never mad at you, Saphira." He rubbed the top of her head gently, just as he used to do. "Kids come and go all the time. There are too many that I can count who have been here for so long before they leave and never come back. It's normal. It has always been that." She nodded and looked away from him. "While I will admit, not one of those kids spent the same kind of time with us as you…no other kid has, I do not think you should have been blamed for not coming back."
Saphira appreciated that he understood that. "Feels like no one else feels that way, Bonnie…" She sniffled loudly and wiped away another tear. "I…I just did not mean to stop coming…"
He nodded in agreement. "I know. But you are back. I honestly thought that everyone would have been thrilled. I know I certainly was. You have grown up a lot these last ten years, Saphira. And I have no doubt that your life hasn't been easy. I believed your story when Foxy told us what you told him regarding your brother. I remember that little guy, too." She looked away from him and Bonnie smiled at her. "How about let me help you with that arm." She glanced at him in surprise. "I know how to put shoulders back into their sockets. If you let me, I can help you."
Saphira considered the offer and nodded. "If you can…please do it. I really don't want to have to explain this to my parents when I get home after my shift." She turned so that Bonnie would have an easier time. "Just…be gentle. It really hurts."
"I can imagine, I remember when my socket popped out once while I was on stage…" Bonnie gently rubbed her shoulder gently and felt for the socket, making Saphira grimaced and whine softly as she listened to him. "That really hurt a lot." She was surprised he would feel pain from that, but she saw Springtrap feel pain when she kicked his eye on her first shift…so that would make sense. "I had to be taken off stage by the maintenance guy…one of the worst days of my life…"
Oh right…the incident where Bonnie accidentally killed a kid…
Saphira gasped painfully as Bonnie lifts her arm slowly and she gripped the desk with her left hand. "Uh…well…I g-g-guess…" She whined and placed her head on the desk as she grimaced in pain. "You know…w-w-what I am feeling."
"Mmhmm…" Bonnie held the girl's arm out and rubbed his hand gently around her shoulder. "This will probably hurt, Saphira. But it will feel better once I get it in." She nodded and braced herself. "One, two, three…" Saphira yelped and tensed as Bonnie pressed on her arm and she felt the pop as her shoulder as pushed back into the socket. She let out tears of pain and looked at Bonnie. "Give a roll of your shoulder and move your arm a little…" Saphira did just that, while grimacing. "Good, good." He smiled at her and guided her sit back on her seat. "Alright, now you just sit and relax for the moment."
She watched Bonnie curiously as he smiled at her and turned, walking out of the room quickly and she was left wondering what to do now. She turned to the computer and checked the cameras lazily. She was surprised when she saw what looked like Fredbear pacing in his dining room with Freddy and Foxy speaking to him. She checked through the cameras to locate Springtrap, but to her surprise, she did not find him. She guessed he was off camera somewhere, so she was not as worried.
A few minutes later, Bonnie walked back and she was surprise to see some damp cloths in his hands. She didn't know where he got them, but guessed one of the many closets in the back area of the attraction. He dropped down to one knee and wiped her face. She was very surprised as he was treating her like she was still a child. Though it was kind of nice, since her face was refreshed now that the tears were away.
"If you will allow me, I can clean away the blood and put something on your wounds," Bonnie said gently as she looked at him. "I understand…for observation, that humans generally don't like being seen without clothes on."
Saphira smiled at him, amused by his politeness. "True…but you can…I'll put a new shirt one shortly." She knew that her back had mostly been exposed so the back of her bra was seen, and with the front ripped, her light green bra could be seen. Though she did realize that when she had fallen in the grey water before, there was a possibility Springtrap so through the shirt. She could tell it was a bit transparent, and the water would have made it more so. "It probably looks worse than it is."
Bonnie smiled a little as he began wiping the blood away. "I suppose that is true…I do wish that Fredbear and Springtrap did not rush into anger. But I guess some hurts are too deep."
She nodded. "I can definitely agree, Bonnie. I am afraid…my physical scars are a mere surface of what I have gone through." She grimaced a little and looked at him. "Sorry…I don't…I guess you probably don't want to hear about it."
She glanced away and he gently cupped his hand around her chin to lift gently so she could look at him. "I am all ears, Saphira. I am your friend. I never stopped being one. I want to hear about it. What did you mean when you said you are used to not having friends?"
She pressed her lips together and shrugged a little. "Uh…well…after the accident…it took months before I could go back to school. I missed out on a lot…and…I had to be in a wheelchair for a bit of time before my leg could be rehabilitated…and kids are cruel. I found out who my friends really were."
The animatronic was well aware of wheelchairs. He knew that they were used for those who had disability, and the thought of Saphira being in one at some stage due to the accident was a sad thought to Bonnie. He glanced at her leg, knowing the hidden scar underneath was what was left of that. "I am sorry, Saphira. I guess you also found out about us…our true selves…and ruined the kind of image you once had for us."
"I can forgive that, Bonnie," Saphira said with a smile, looking directly into his eyes. "I…I feel like I've learned so much about you already…and I feel…I see you, like I see myself." The animatronic frowned in confusion and she glanced away. "Trapped. Lonely."
"Oh…" Bonnie didn't really realize she saw them that way now. And he did not know what she meant by that. "Can you tell me more about what has happened during your last ten years?"
She huffed a little, not really wanting to, but it was better than nothing. "Well…when the bullying started, I was already in therapy to try and help with my grief and pain from the accident, and just trying accept being in a wheelchair for a short time. So I guess it turned in sessions where I had to try and cope…even though I had already begun to…stab myself…"
"You what?" Bonnie stared in disbelief as he listened to her. "You…stabbed yourself? Why would you that?"
She shrugged. "The pain felt real…and…bleeding felt kind of nice…I realized that it was an escape…I was thirteen when I couldn't take the bullying anymore. And I grabbed a razor and put it to my wrist…" She could easily see herself in that moment. "All I had to do was cut…and all the pain would be gone…" Saphira looked at Bonnie sadly. "Sometimes I still wonder why my father stopped me. James and Alana don't spend time with me much. I thank them for taking me out of school and putting me into online school, and I have been doing so much better. But…I still wonder…" Saphira took a deep breath and looked away. "I hope you can see why I am…not really afraid to die…even though Springtrap and Fredbear have succeeded in scaring…for the first time since I knew them."
Bonnie felt really sad for Saphira and he wanted her to feel special again. He placed the cloth down as he finished cleaning most of the blood and hugged her gently, feeling her tense from his touch. "You were stopped so you can come back, Saphira." She rolled her eyes a little at those words. "I know you want to find out how we are made, but we don't consider that as help." She leaned back from him in surprise. "But having you here again is the help we need. Many of the others have forgotten how to kind and sweet to humans. Mangle, Toy Bonnie, Golden Bonnie and I still enjoy being around humans, Foxy, Toy Foxy, Chica and Phantom Freddy also find fun being around humans. But the rest have been very bitter. Springtrap and Fredbear were the worst…I guess because Fredbear and Springtrap kind of stand out from the rest of us. Even Golden Bonnie looks like a toy animatronic, so they are close friends."
That made sense. Fredbear and Springtrap was often seen as the odd outcasts of all the animatronics. Maybe that was why Saphira related to them. Springtrap likely vented a lot of his emotions to Fredbear, and that would explain why he was angry at her. "That explains why they both were angry…Fredbear was angry with how hurt his friend was because of me…do you think they will forgive me?"
Bonnie did not know how to answer that. "To be honest, I do not know. Though Springtrap's pressure in wanting you to leave…well…it is not from a place of anger or pain, Saphira. No night guard has stayed here past five nights. We do not know what will happen if you stay for longer."
She raised an eyebrow. "Uh…you mean Mike will think something is strange?" He nodded slightly. "Does that mean he knows you guys kill and eat people…" The animatronic nodded again. "I highly doubt he is going to be that made that I will be sticking around."
"We don't know. I too would tell you to leave, only to save your life." She frowned slightly at him and he sighed a little. "But I can see…you still have your stubbornness. I remember when your parents would tell you to keep away from Springtrap when you first met him. That never stopped you, and they stopped bothering you."
She smiled proudly and nodded. "Yep. I am stubborn. And if by staying here kills me, at least it is the most interesting thing I've done in my life." She glanced at the tablet when an alert goes off and hits reboot again. "You can expect me to stick around, Bon Bon." Bonnie smiled when she called him by his nickname. "Thank you for coming to talk to me. I appreciate it." She stood up and grabbed the clean shirt from the desk. "I'll go and get changed…I hope the rest of the night…"
"It should be fine, Saphira," He interrupts her with a reassuring tone. "I do not think there will be any extreme disturbances for the rest of the night. Though the others might surprise me…expect to have some more visitors though. I think everyone else here is starting to feel a little…curious about you again."
She understood and stepped inside the bathroom. "I'll keep that in mind. But…" She glanced at the window and towards the door. "Do you mind staying? I would like at least one friendly animatronic here."
Bonnie nodded affirmatively. "I will make sure you will be unharmed. I am sorry that when we saw each other again, I did not step in. But Springtrap and Fredbear can be persuasive and getting on the wrong side of those two isn't…good."
She already knew that. She closed the door and carefully slipped the ruined shirt off. Her whole body her. She looked at herself in the mirror, seeing the bruises that she has obtained from tonight. She gazed at herself and grimaced, wondering why she was still around. Maybe Bonnie was right, but she wasn't sure. She turned away from the mirror and slipped the new shirt back on. Though she didn't leave the bathroom straight away. She needed a little alone time to do some thinking before she would go out and face the animatronics again.
