Opening the door into Toy Plaza, Saphira immediately caused the smell of hot chocolate. Now that was a surprise. She knew the animatronics can eat other things, but she definitely was not expecting hot chocolate. Then she remembered the little café area in the plaza that offered cakes, coffee and hot chocolate. That actually sounded nice at the moment. Hot chocolate was definitely a cheering up kind of drink and she made her way through the plaza and she found all the toy animatronics sitting on the stage. She saw they were all holding mugs and she could smell the hot chocolate from where she was.
"Oh, Saphira!" Mangle said enthusiastically with a smile as she held her cup. "We were not expecting you." She glanced at the mug and her smile widened. "Let guess, you have been drawn in by the smell of chocolate."
Saphira chuckled softly as she walked towards them. "It was not the original reason, but I had no idea you liked hot chocolate." She sniffed the air and gasped excitedly. "Someone is having a cinnamon hot chocolate. Which one…" Toy Foxy raised his hand quickly with a smile. "That's my favorite too! I also like adding a little bit of ginger for some nice flavor."
"Ginger and cinnamon? Hmm, never thought of that," Toy Chica said enthusiastically. "How about I make you up one, huh? You look like you could use it." She slid off the stage and walked over to the café as Saphira looked at her curiously. "Why are you confused? I kind of learned how to make it from watching very closely. And the instructions for the machine is on the wall."
Saphira chuckled softly as she followed Toy Chica. "That's pretty cool, actually." She watched Toy Chica place her mug down and grab an empty mug to make up the hot chocolate for Saphira. "I actually came in because…I wanted to ask your opinion on something."
She looked at Saphira in surprise. "My opinion?"
"Oh! She's here to ask about style!" Toy Freddy said enthusiastically. Saphira glanced at him and nodded shyly. "Well…sadly to say, I am not that good with that. These guys though…" He gestured to Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie and Mangle. "Seem to have a pretty sharp eye for fashion and stuff."
"Ye, even I don't know much 'bout that stuff," Toy Foxy said with a light chuckle. "But I do know a bit about style. So I guess ye came to the right place, Saphira. What do ya wanna know?"
Saphira smiled at the animatronics, feeling a little shy about wanting to ask the question. "Well…um…" She placed her hand on her arm nervously. "What…uh…Bonnie has said it, Fredbear has said it and Springtrap just…said it…" The animatronics were immediately confused. "They have all called me beautiful. Even you said I was stunning, Mangle. But…I don't see it."
Mangle stared at her in surprise. "Really? You don't see yourself as beautiful?" She shakes her head and looks away from the bot. "Wow…I definitely was not expecting that."
"What in the world makes you think you are not beautiful?" Toy Bonnie asked curiously as he gazed at her with sad eyes. "Your skin is very clean, your hair is healthy and shiny, and it bounces when you walk…something I took notice of…" Saphira giggled softly as he listed what he sees about her. "You are not tall, but you are not terribly short either. And…" He paused as he looked at her for a moment. "How can I continue from there? Your eyes even look like you have mascara on your eyelashes, but I bet you don't have that."
Saphira placed her hand on her cheek, feeling shy suddenly as she did not think that was true. "I still don't…" She gasped when Toy Bonnie stepped up to her suddenly and she tensed. "I don't…I really don't see it. I am not beautiful like you claim…I don't think that."
"Hmm, seems like somebody has been telling you lies all these years." Bonnie smiled at her and gently grabbed her shoulders and made her turn around. "Come with me. Let me show you something." Saphira let Bonnie make her walk with him and she was surprised he walked right into the dress shop, Chica's Fashionista, that sold high end dresses and he moved her in front of a set of mirrors and turned on some lights, making her squint and look at the mirrors that were at different angles. "What do you see what you into the mirror?"
Saphira sighed as she looked at the mirror. She saw the other animatronics enter with their mugs though they remained quiet. Only Toy Chica was not with them as she was finishing up Saphira's hot chocolate. "Um…I just an average girl. With average skin, her hair is messy with split ends, her lips are dry and she has a very average figure…that is what I see."
Toy Bonnie looked at her at the mirror and smiled at her. "Hmm…let me tell you what I see." He began to gesture at her body as he spoke. "I see a lovely, young girl who is literally cloaked in a strange kindness we have not seen before. But you are glowing. Your hair might be messy, but you did have to deal with being thrown around…" She rolled her eyes immediately. "Uh, ah, ah, I am not finished." She glanced at him with a raised eyebrow, and he continued. "Anyway, you are looking too hard at the surface, Saphira." He gently grabbed the tie in her ponytail. "Can I?" She nodded in annoyance and Toy Bonnie pulled the tie out of her hair, letting it fall. He ran his fingers through her hair and moved the strands to sit on her shoulders. "Touch your hair, Saphira." She grabbed and strand to play with it. "It is soft, there seems to be a fruity scent or something…I guess your shampoo. And yet, it is glistening under this light."
"Toy Bonnie…is this…" Saphira began with a groan.
"Look closely, Saphira. Your hair has small waves in the strands, it always has had them naturally." She looked at the mirror as she stared and realized he was right. "It gives you a beautiful hair that some people are probably jealous of. They tell you that your hair is ugly to make themselves feel better…I am sure that is what people do."
"Well…yes they do, do that…"
"Least I now know what the problem is." Toy Bonnie smiled at her and gestured to her skin. "Now, even though it looks like your skin seems to be dry and you don't seem to use any skin products…right?" She nodded slightly. "But it feels smooth…" He ran his fingers along her arm gently. "It feels healthy to me. And there are very few blemishes…" He paused with a frown and turned her wrists around and spotted the scar from the razor. "Oh…aside from that."
She pulled her wrists from his hands and folded her arms. "Not helping…"
"You know, scars are not that bad when you think about it, Saphira," Toy Bonnie said and she chuckled a little. "I know…we don't have to deal with scars, like humans do. We have metal covers, not skin. So of course we are not going to feel that same. But…in my opinion, people can still look beautiful with scars." She knew that of course. One of Saphira's favorite games is the Witcher and she would agree that some people definitely rock having scars on their body. "And now we come to your face…you have Asian heritage, right?"
Saphira nodded. "My great-great-great grandmother immigrated from South Korea a long time ago. I don't really look like a Korean, except for the shape of my eyes…kind of. But I don't see how my heritage has anything to do with that…and I am surprised you even notice that."
"It isn't a surprise, Saphira. Lots of people come here all the time and we see a lot from different countries and all walks of life." Toy Bonnie chuckled before gesturing around her face. "And it might be true your eyes are the only thing that link you back to your heritage, the shape of your face is still lovely. Your cheeks are rounded without any jarring lines, your chin and nose are smallish, but lovely…and nothing can be said without mentioning the deep, green of your eyes…does that come from your Korean side too?"
Saphira nodded. "Yeah…and I remember reading one of the journals my great-great-great grandmother wrote in, and her green eyes were considered to be a bad omen, for some reason. Most Koreans have brown eyes, not blue or green. So…I am not sure who else in the family had green eyes, but I know it came from her. I think I am the only one in the family who got her eye color."
"I see…skipped enough generations to passed to you, or should I say, gifted to you." She felt herself blush and look down. "Saphira…" Toy Bonnie lifts her chin gently so she could look at him. "I hope you will look at yourself and think you are beautiful." He looked at the mirror and she looked back at it with a frown. She saw Toy Chica walking in with the mug, and to her surprise, Golden Bonnie walked in. "I think maybe a change of outfit might change your mind."
Saphira looked at him like he was crazy. "What? You mean…" She glanced at the store and looked back at Toy Bonnie. "Are you crazy? You think I try on some dresses?"
Toy Bonnie nodded. "Why not? What is the usual outfit you normally wear all the time?"
"Uhh…just a t-shirt, denim jeans…shorts…sometimes a blouse or singlet…no skirts or dresses really…" She shrugged a little and turned away from the mirrors and looked at Golden Bonnie, placing her hands on her hips. "And I still don't get why you could not have accompanied me. Look at my head!" She points at her forehead and Golden Bonnie looked away. "I get you might have a moral compass or something, but I could have used your help too. Not just Fredbear's."
Golden Bonnie sighed softly. "I am sorry. I didn't mean for you to get hurt…it was just in the moment…"
"Golden Bonnie always stays out of the killing part," Toy Freddy said softly. "That's always been her nature. She hates it, and when she tried once, she freaked out and refused to eat anything that night. So we don't make her do it anymore."
"Sorry…I hope you can forgive me, Saphira. And Toy Bonnie is right." She smiled at Saphira and looked at the dresses. "I saw a dress in here sometime ago…I think you should try it on. I think it will be fun. I used to wish we could be there to help you pick out dresses when you were a kid, but we couldn't do that."
"I honestly can't believe you guys are suggesting that." Saphira chuckled a little as she couldn't see herself as beautiful. She walked over to Toy Chica and smiled as she breathed in the scent. "Mmm, that smells good." She took the mug and blew on the steam before sipping and licking her lips. "Oh wow…now that's probably the best hot chocolate I've tasted." She sips again the hot chocolate again. "Wow…this is good."
Toy Chica seemed very happy to hear that. "I didn't think it was that good, but you have probably had more hot chocolates than I have, so I will take it as a compliment…and there are some marshmallows in there too." She giggled a little and softened her expression. "And yet…I agree with the others."
"Argh, ye are a fine maiden, Saphira," Toy Foxy said gently as Saphira rolled her eyes. "I don't know what ye parents say to ya, but ye have six animatronics here tellin' ya that ye are beautiful, and ye still have a hard time believin'. Why?"
Saphira shrugged a little. "I…I guess I still don't see what you see." She sighed deeply and smiled at them. "Thanks for trying though…I guess I should not have come here to ask...I don't really know what I was expecting." She turned to look at the mirror again. "It is nice that you guys think that making me wear a dress will change anything…"
"We just want you to see what we can see," Toy Freddy said gently. "I guess you really lost a lot of that confidence that you once had, huh?" Saphira nodded and looked at the ground. "At least you are honest about that." He looked at the other animatronics for a moment and smiled at her. "I suppose you forget that is why your pendent is beautiful." She looked at him in surprise and glanced down, pulling out her pendant for a moment and looking at it. "You know, something does not need to be seen as the best quality to be beautiful. It takes someone to look through that and see the beauty inside. Isn't that why you bought two to give to Springtrap?" She looked up at Toy Freddy in surprise. "Because you saw some kind of beauty, and I think that is what makes you beautiful."
Saphira pressed her lips together and felt herself blushing. "Uh…well…it was more to show that I didn't care what he looked like, I am still his friend…"
"And you should take a look at what you gave to Springtrap, and look at yourself with the same eyes," Toy Bonnie interrupts gently with a smile. "You radiate that kind of beauty, Saphira. I guess I know I was focusing on your outward appearance…but I remember hearing the saying that if you are beautiful on the inside, your outside look is beautiful. And if you are ugly on the inside…well…"
Saphira nodded. "That is correct, Toy Bonnie…" She turned around to look at the mirrors and moved to stand under the light and stare at herself. Seeing herself in her uniform with the pendent sitting on her shirt actually seemed to change something. With her hair out as well, Saphira realized that a small change did make a difference, or she was thinking differently. "I am beautiful…"
"Finally! She gets it!" Toy Chica cheered happily. "So, how about you finish that hot chocolate, and you can try on some dresses, huh? You might find that you sparkle so radiantly, that anything you put on will be amazing."
Saphira was tempted by the idea, only she checked her watch and saw it was four. "Oh…I still have a job…"
"You could come back," Toy Bonnie suggested with a smile. "You only need to reboot the system and everything should be fine, so you can come back." Saphira looked at him and shook her head. "Or…you have had enough for the rest of the night and need time to yourself." She nodded and Toy Bonnie smiled at her. "Alright, well, I guess we achieved something. Making you realize that you are not ugly or plain has been good."
Saphira nodded in agreement and walked around him to leave the store. "And I did not realize that we can move freely between the shops…"
"Oh yeah, once the doors are locked and due to how the system runs, it is pretty easy to go in and out of the shops," Toy Bonnie said with a light chuckle as he and the other animatronics walk with her out of the plaza. "Well, we were thinking about getting some sleep before you came in." She glanced at him in surprise. "That's what the hot chocolate was for, to help us fall asleep for a few hours until we need to wake up to perform again."
"I guess I can't really argue with that, hot chocolate will do that for you." She walked towards the doors of the Toy Plaza to head back to the office. "I think I need some more stuff for the pain, my headache's decided to come back."
"Do you need help returning to the office?" Toy Freddy asked gently as he stepped closer. "We don't need you to faint or stumble while you have hot chocolate in your hand. You already have a bump on your head, you don't need burns. Though…" He tapped the side of his mouth thoughtfully. "You might be lucky that the bump and red mark will go away before you get home."
"My parents will still be in bed when I get home anyway," Saphira said reassuringly. "I understand your concern. I will be fine, Toy Freddy. It has been rather nice actually. Thank you for…helping a little."
"A little?" Toy Bonnie stared in disbelief and chuckled a little. "Well, you definitely have a need to have a friend like Springtrap does. Oh well…" He walked ahead to open the door for Saphira. "Don't forget to bring that back to the café. They won't take kindly to the fact there is one missing mug."
She nodded in understanding to Toy Bonnie before walking out of the door and made her way to the main dining room. As she walked through, she saw that the stage was empty and figured the animatronics were somewhere else. She was not concerned. She sipped some more of the hot chocolate and entered the hallway towards the office. She thought about going back to Springtrap, but she guessed it was best to leave him alone. And she realized she also needed to just sit and think as well.
She walked into the office, and sure enough, the systems needed to be rebooted. She hit the reboot and sat down. She rubbed her forehead as she felt the ache of the headache. She grabbed an Advil to take before she relaxed in the chair. She looked at the scrapbook and put that away before grabbing her sketchbook and opened it. She looked at the drawings she had already made of Springtrap and she gazed at the images carefully.
She realized she had captured his likeness and expressions well. She smiled slightly and grabbed her pencils to draw another image of him. And that was what she did for the rest of the night. She had decided to just draw his face a first, drawing as much detail as she could at different angles, different expressions and she couldn't help but stare each time she finished an image. She just simply felt a sense of fascination at each image.
When she moved onto drawing his whole body, again at different angles and stances, Saphira intrigue with him only grew. Something about Springtrap has always been of interest to her. While she loved hanging with the other animatronics, when Springtrap arrived, she had been instantly drawn to him. And now she was finding the exact same feeling. Only this time…it felt different. And she didn't quite figure it out at the moment.
When she saw it was five thirty, she grabbed the mug to take back to the Toy Plaza. She rebooted the systems again and made her way back to the Toy Plaza. She didn't feel as much pain now and she was happy about that. She saw all the animatronics in their places and gave them waves as she walked by them. She considered checking in on Springtrap on the way, but decided against it for the time being.
Once she returned the mug to the café and cleaned it before drying it and putting it away, she went back to the office. With the dawn filtering through the windows, it actually made the attraction feel odd with the sunlight on the floor. She ignored it though as she left the Toy Plaza. She stopped though as she saw Springtrap leaving the bathroom down the hallway and she looked at him. She had not realized he had been in there for the rest of the night. She did think he had left at some point, but it seemed like she was wrong about that.
"I guess I will see later," Springtrap said in a soft, tired voice as he gazed at her. She couldn't read his expression, it seemed to still be a mix of emotions. "I will consider…starting again."
She smiled at him with a gentle smile. "Thank you. I will not push you, Springtrap. I hope you have a nice day. Try and fit sleep in before it opens to the public, alright." He just nodded and turned around to walk to the Haunted Classroom.
She considered saying something else, but nothing came out. However, she just stared as he walked away and she felt her cheeks blush as she stared and felt butterflies in her stomach. She looked away and scurried through the main dining room. It only had just clicked with her the reason why she was drawn to Springtrap now. And she knew it was not from her childhood infatuation with the animatronic, it was something else.
When she entered the office and opened her sketchbook. She looked at the different images and she felt her blush deepen and she began to realize that Springtrap actually seemed attractive to her. For some reason, he did. She couldn't help but slap herself in the cheeks thinking she is crazy about that. But maybe she was not crazy, and she actually was developing real feelings for Springtrap. And not just wanting to be friends, but more.
She slammed the book shut, wondering what the hell she was thinking. She knew that Springtrap stood out because he is different, and that the two of them were like magnets to each other in terms of loneliness and seeking out friendship. But if that was also partly the reason why she was feeling attracted to him…and he also commented that she was beautiful.
Could it be possible that he also feels the same? Or is starting to?
Saphira looked at the sketchbook and she opened it again, taking a closer look at Springtrap. And she found herself admiring his body. He might not considered an attractive animatronic by most people, but she somehow found it. She rubbed her hand over the pages and she shook her head, closing the sketchbook shut and saw it was finally six. She reboots the system as the errors were going off and she clocks out of her shift.
I really must be crazy if I am developing feelings for him…he's not the same as I knew him…maybe that is the reason for it.
She took a deep breath as she gathered her things and made her way out of the attraction to return him. She wanted to try and get rid of the anguish she had been feeling during the shift. And maybe to try and wash away her feelings. She couldn't possibly fall for an animatronic. She got into her car and looked at the building for a moment and turned on the car. She was about to pull out when she noticed a black RAM parked on the street by the attraction. It had no plates, and the windows were tinted. She frowned a little as that seemed oddly suspicious before she shrugged and drove out of the lot to return home for the day.
