Saphira felt more on edge as she made her way back to the office after checking the doors. While she was happy that Fredbear was with her, she worried about why Afton was back at the building. She didn't know what his plan was. She felt maybe he was here to just scare her, and she was already frightened by him. He seemed like a much more intense person than Mike, and the man was intrigued by how her relationship with Springtrap will grow. That was the more frightening part, and she wasn't sure if there was anything about it that she should be worried about.

While she was thinking about it, she could not help but glance at the vents, wondering if any of the bots that she overheard Afton mention were still walking around in them. She was sure that they were, but she just was not able to hear them. That did not mean that she was not paranoid. She knew that he was watching, and now he was watching the building too. She couldn't help but think he planned to reveal himself to her at some point.

"I see you are nervous." Saphira jumped when Fredbear spoke and sighed deeply as she glanced over her shoulder to smile at him. "And I apologize, I did not mean to scare you. My voice can be a little intense at times, I know."

She chuckled softly. "It is okay, I am just…distracted. Knowing that Afton's trust is sitting right outside, and that he could do something at anytime…I am just paranoid and nervous. It makes me think he is going to do something."

"And that is still a possibility, which does not help your paranoia anyway." Fredbear chuckled softly as Saphira entered the office to hit reboot on the system. "But you did choose to stay." She sighed and rolled her eyes. "While we didn't know this would happen, we did warn you to not stay. And now you have no choice but to stay. All you are doing now is looking through some kind of mystery." Saphira nodded as she grabbed the tablet and turned to walk out of the room. "I am not really sure why you think…" Fredbear paused and his ears twitch when he heard the sound of movement inside the vent. Saphira turned and tensed as she heard it too. "Ah, that was the sound you and Springtrap had heard before, right?" She nodded. "Hmm…I guess you are being spied on."

Saphira shivered as she stepped out of the office while Fredbear stared at the vent. "At least you can now believe it if you did not before."

"I did…I just didn't know what to expect with whatever is creeping through the vent." Fredbear turned away from the office to keep following Saphira as she walked down the hallway. "It probably has been there for years and we have never noticed."

"Maybe there was no reason for whatever is in there to be used properly until now." Saphira knew there were many reasons as she entered the main dining room. "I just try not to think about it, but it is harder with Afton's car parked outside. He left earlier, so I am curious about why he is back."

"Well...did you hear him and Mike talk about stuff you weren't supposed to hear?" Fredbear asked curiously and Saphira just shrugged. "If you did, and Afton somehow noticed you were there, he could be here for that reason. Though I am not sure what he would do."

That never really crossed Saphira's mind. She did think she was well hidden when she overheard Mike and Afton talking, but maybe he had noticed her and he was here to maybe punish her for it. She shuddered at the very idea of that, and she wondered if even reading the diaries was a good idea at this point. She knew it was only to see if she could learn more about him without meeting him.

"I didn't overhear anything important, because I was in my car and I waited for him to leave," Saphira responded. "I didn't want to get out knowing he was here. But he might assume that I was eavesdropping, so...that is not good if that is the case." She rubbed the back of her neck and turned her head when she saw Bonnie approaching her with a sad expression. "Is something the matter?"

"Don't lie to Fredbear, Saphira. You did overhear Afton and Mike." Fredbear frowned in disappointment at Saphira and she sighed softly. "She overheard something from those two regarding Springtrap. The part about what he did to a teen girl some years ago."

"Oh...that's why Springtrap fled to the bathroom..." Fredbear looked at Saphira with a frown. "Why didn't you tell the truth?"

"Well...I said it because...I worried that Afton would hear too much...it was not like I wanted to lie to you, it was just to..."

"Oh, I get it. I thought you were lying for the sake of it." She shook her head and Fredbear smiled at her. "Alright, a little late now that Bonnie has blurted it out. But...uh...there is not much to say about the incident. But you should know it was one of the lowest points for Springtrap and it's one of the few things he regrets."

"At least he is remorseful, otherwise I would have a very different view about him. If he didn't feel remorseful...I think I would be more afraid of him." Bonnie and Fredbear did not deny that. They understood where Saphira was coming from. "I will hope to talk to him later. And I am glad that you don't have much to say, because you really should not."

"I wasn't going to convince you to forgive him, I was just...coming to comfort you. Springtrap didn't say much, other than just she knows...and that was all I needed to hear." Bonnie placed a hand on Saphira's back as she entered the Toy Plaza. "If you need to...talk about..."

"The only one who I should talk about it with is Springtrap, Bonnie. He and I need to. I don't want this to ruin our friendship." She approached Golden Bonnie's Story Time bedroom. "But right now, I have other things on my mind and I need to focus."

"Is this even wise with him hanging around?" Bonnie questions in concern. "This seems wildly risky, unless he doesn't really care that you are going to be going through his diaries."

"If he is going to do something, I think it does not matter what I do." She opened the door into the room and she saw Golden Bonnie fixing up the books and the animatronic looked up at her. "Evening, Golden Bonnie. Would you care to show me where the library is?"

"Are you sure?" Golden Bonnie asked uncertainly and Saphira nodded. She sighed deeply. "Very well...like I said, I found it by accident." She walked over to a high shelf and nudged a bronze, horse statue. And Saphira watched as the wall moved inward and slid to the right to show a set of stairs. "I hope you have your flashlight, Saphira. It's pretty dark down there."

Saphira pulled her flashlight out. "I am always prepared. I wouldn't walk around this place without it, it is very dark in the attraction." She stepped down onto the stairs and made her way down. She did not know what to expect. "Feel free to come with me."

"I will, since I know how to read," Golden Bonnie said as she stepped down. "I just don't want to frighten you with my heavy footsteps. Foxy is the lightest out of all of us."

Saphira chuckled softly as she shines her light around and she saw there wasn't many stairs. And she saw that Golden Bonnie was not joking. There was dozens of journals all around this place. She had not sure what she had been expecting, but this was not it. She reached the bottom and shines her flashlight around as she was bot sure on where she should begin. She really felt like she was in a haystack at the moment, but she knew she would need to just pick one and read it.

She hummed softly as she walked around as Golden Bonnie followed. She seemed to be in the same boat as Saphira in what journal they would pick up to read. Saphira did not see anything that stood out to her and she sighed, deciding she should just pick out a random journal. She walked over to one stack and grabbed the top with a red cover and placed it down, grimacing and sneezing from the dust that flew from it.

She sat the flashlight on the table and opened it. She widened her eyes when she saw the words To Live as Flesh and Metal. She wondered if all the journals had the same thing, though she wasn't sure. She turned the page and she saw blueprints for animatronics straight away. These ones were different though. These ones looked like earlier versions of the animatronics, which wasn't a terrible thing. It helped to open up what his mind is.

She turned to the next page, and she saw the blueprints for the current versions of the animatronics, which was a surprise. But on the other side, she saw similar animatronics, though their bodies seemed different. While they had an internal, organic body, their outer body looked like they had pipes or springs connecting to the metal plates. She saw these were designs for Bonnie, Chica, Freddy and Foxy, but she didn't know what class of animatronics these would be.

She turned to the next page and saw something strange. Afton had drawn human anatomy with metal within the body. This was like the opposite of what the animatronics were, which was fine. But...this might be Afton was working towards. She turned to the next page and raised an eyebrow at the next title. Live Forever as Living Metal.

Okay...this might be his goal, maybe.

She looked down below and saw Afton had actually written something, so she decided that she would read it. And she felt goose bumps from reading it as it frightened by what she read.

To live forever is a concept people dream about. People think of the fountain of youth as one way to live forever. Or that they die and their souls live forever is some holy land in the sky. Whatever, I think I have cracked the code people have been looking for. And this all has to do with metal. Flesh deteriorates faster than metal, but metal can be repaired or replaced easily. If I can apply the same to my own body, I could live forever and rule this world.

But this work is not easy. I must first see if this is the case for animatronics. I want them to live and breathe like we do, but their diet will subsequently be human flesh primarily. Not that I care. I don't even care for my own measly human life. If I could be alive as a metal being...it would be terribly hard to kill me. Heh, I could get away with a lot and escape from prison like I've done before.

At least if someone were to throw a fist, they would break their wrist upon impact. I am not a fool, this project could take years. But I have already found a way to slow my aging, and now I can live for many more years. I just need a good dog to stay by my side and ensure that my work goes as planned and undisturbed.

And everyone foolishly loves animatronics. I don't know why, but people love them. Something, apparently, about these robotic creatures excite people. And that is what I will give them, until it kills and eats them. How prophetic, in my opinion. And some of the popular places for animatronics seems to be theme parks and restaurants. I cannot afford a theme park, so a restaurant shall be opened. One where parents can bring their little goblins to every day, with the small risk of that kid getting bit by these animatronics. Oh, the joy!

And no one will even know. Metal doesn't move like flesh does. You can see when someone is alive, even when they fake it. You only have to watch them, and the smallest sign of life is enough to give away they are alive, even if you shoot them or smother them. Metal shows zero signs if you play it smart. And I intend to do that. My creations will seem like real animatronics, but they will be monsters underneath.

I intend to live as such, someday. I too, will be of metal and flesh. Now that I can live for a long time, I have decades to figure that out. To live as immortal as I possibly can. And someday, people will have no choice but to bow before my feet. Oh, how joyful it will be. With no one who can stop me, I will achieve this victory.

Saphira glanced away from the journal with a grimace. Reading this page of this maniac really was something of a nightmare. And she could not help but wonder if Afton has achieved some of his dream. Not the living animatronic part, that has been a success. But rather that he's made himself a living husk of metal and flesh. That in itself seemed more terrifying than the animatronics. She shivered at the very idea.

She turned to page and found more writing with a similar tone. She flipped through the journal before slamming it shut and rubbed her forehead and grabbing the next journal. She opened it and found human anatomy again with a metal skeleton, along with other images showing a human with internal metal springs and claws. She shook her head as the very idea seemed horrid. She turned the page and came upon a weird blueprint. It looked like some kind of arm. She wasn't sure what it was for, but it had scribbles around it describing it as a way to make Afton into the living metal flesh he was aiming for.

She sighed deeply and closed the book before looking at Golden Bonnie. "I only got to look through two of these journals, and I already have had enough." The animatronic nodded in agreement. "He wants to be immortal…so he's experimenting with life itself, which is you, before he intends to experiment on himself."

"So it seems. At least I haven't found evidence of him trying to experiments on other people." Golden Bonnie placed the journal back and looked at Saphira with a worried expression. "What do you think will happen if Afton is indeed a…well…you…a different kind of living metal?"

"I…don't know. He wants to rule the world, that's what it seems. But…that depends if that is still his end goal." Saphira grabbed her flashlight and shines the light at all the journals. "To be honest, these journals are old. The paper is worn, and the covers are not something you find today. Maybe at least ten or twenty years ago, so Afton wrote these a long time ago. And maybe even around the time Fredbear's came around."

"So…do you think he was only a teenager when he started?"

"Maybe, but I don't know his age, Golden Bonnie. If he's truly found a way to live longer, we don't know when he found that out." Saphira sighed and walked towards the stairs. "I've had enough for the night. I…I think I would rather go and talk to Springtrap."

"Maybe you shouldn't." Saphira looked at the animatronic in surprise. "See…the topic of when…of what he did to that girl…it's a very sore sport…worse than you, actually." She was even more surprised to hear that. "He doesn't like to talk about it…and I think he feels you see him differently. Do you? Because I don't know how you see him now."

Saphira could understand why Springtrap would not want to talk about it. She did not need to gritty details of the incident, but at least she knew what he did. "Truthfully, I am not angry at him. If anything, he was honest. I understand he wanted to not tell me, and it is a right that he has, Golden Bonnie. Anyone would want to conceal such an act for as long as they want. And I found out on accident."

"Yeah…you overheard it from the person who made us," Golden Bonnie said distastefully.

"I know…and to be honest, a part of me was hoping it was not true…but I don't think they have any reason to lie when they're talking to each other." Saphira began to walk up the stairs, not wanting to stay down here for much longer. "But the fact that Springtrap is honest and remorseful makes me believe him, and the fact he reacted similarly to how he reacted in guilt with what he has done to me as well is enough to make me believe and forgive him. If there are more than one, I am sure he will tell me too. But I think that part was exaggerated."

"Yes, yes it was," The animatronic confirmed as she followed the girl up the stairs. "I am glad. Springtrap needs you back in his life, Saphira. You might not know this, but I do. I think, deep down, Springtrap really loves you." Saphira nearly stumbled up the stairs as she kept walking and reached the top while feeling her cheeks heat up. "I don't think he knew, you were a child and you became, unintentionally, a crutch for him."

"What do you mean?" Saphira turned and looked at the animatronic curiously as she reached the top and nudged the statue back into place to cause the door to close. "How was I a crutch?"

"Like all of us…" Golden Bonnie turned and gazed at her with her green, kind eyes. "We woke up in this place, with no knowledge of how we ended up here. But we knew what to do. We knew how to interact with the humans during the day, and what to eat at night. And…well…we still ask why we were made. Springtrap latched onto you because you were the first person to show genuine interest in him. And I guess you became a crutch for those thoughts, in a sense that he didn't have to feel that way because you treated him like another human. He loved that."

"Oh…I see…"

"I guess we all kind of did. Not as much as he did. And I think, over time, Springtrap developed a kind of love for you. Maybe not the romantic kind, but a familial, if that makes." The girl nodded slowly as she took a seat as she thought about it, and the animatronic sat in her chair. "I don't think Springtrap even realized until you didn't come back. When you didn't, that crutch was broken. And all that pain came back. So you can imagine how hard it was."

"I can't imagine it, Golden Bonnie. I've…always known who I am and where I come from. But in terms of feeling…lost in this world, yes, I know that feeling. Just not everything else. I can sympathise though." The animatronic smiled at Saphira's honest words. "Still…I never thought I would have been a crutch for that…it makes sense, actually. And I guess when he saw me again, he was confused."

"Correct. And to be honest, I think you loved him too. Am I right?" She looked away immediately from the animatronic, feeling shy by the question. "There is no shame. I think you and Springtrap have developed new feelings, if I am honest. You've rekindled your friendship, which is good. But you are not a child anymore, Saphira, and you shouldn't be treated like one. And you have grown into a beautiful, young woman. Not one of us knew what you would have looked like at this age. It would have been a privilege to see you grow, but it was a shock to see you after all these years."

Saphira tapped her fingers on the arms of the chair. "Since you know…that humans can be attractive. Would that not imply you can be attracted to a human?"

"I suppose. It is not something we cannot feel, after all. And honestly…that could be why Springtrap has been a little weird around you, but I am not sure." Saphira chuckled softly as she didn't know what Golden Bonnie meant by little weird. "I haven't felt attracted to humans myself, but Mangle, Chica, Toy Chica, Phantom Chica and Phantom Mangle and I do sometimes grab magazines that are left laying around and we will pick out our favorite people. Sometimes it's a man, sometimes a woman. Toy Bonnie likes joining in too."

"Right...but that does still mean you can be attracted. There's nothing that's stopping you from being attracted to a human."

"That's true, but I guess because I also know what I am and my diet, it kind of stops me from wanting to be attracted to a human. I am sure you understand that." Saphira nodded that she did understand. "Good, I don't want you to think something else. But in Springtrap's case...you have grown into someone beautiful and your personality has changed a bit since we knew you. You've matured, and the accident seems to have changed you a lot too. Maybe I'm reading into this too much..."

"Well...uh..." Saphira rubbed her hands together nervously and smiled at Golden Bonnie. "Could you...uh...keep this between us?" The animatronic tilts her head to gaze at Saphira curiously. "I think…you might be right about the fact I love him, but at the moment, I am not even sure if it is actual love. Ever since I came back and seen him again…I…uh…I don't know, I've felt strangely attracted to him."

Golden Bonnie smiled at Saphira as she listened quietly. "I am happy to know I am right. Do you think you've felt some kind of love for Springtrap when you were a child?"

"Probably, but I think it was more of a friendship love than anything else," Saphira said softly. "But even if that is the case…I've felt…fascinated by him. I have a sketchbook with just sketches of Springtrap, and I know it sounds kind of silly…"

"It's actually endearing," The animatronic interrupts proudly with a smile. "You shouldn't feel ashamed. I think what you feel is still friend love." Saphira shook her head and Golden Bonnie widened her eyes. "Oh, I see. But you still feel confused and unsure. I guess this means you haven't felt this way before, right?"

"Yep…you'd be right. I've had crushes and that's it, but this feels…nothing like that. And to be honest, Springtrap and I haven't built the same close relationship that we had years ago, and I'd prefer to do that before anything else."

"Maybe that's the problem." Saphira looked at Golden Bonnie in surprise. "You and Springtrap are trying to have that close friendship again, but I think both of you have different feelings now, and it can't be like it used to be and you know this." She looked away from the animatronic, feeling herself blush. "But I don't think it should be rushed. Rushing it would likely create more problems. I think you and Springtrap know this, and I hope you build on this new friendship. I know you've both promised to rebuild the friendship, but stop trying to make it like it used to be. It will never be the same again."

Saphira thought over Golden Bonnie's words and looked back at her. "What if Springtrap does not feel the same way?"

"Oh believe me, he does. You should have seen the way he watched you when you tried on the different outfits, for example. He looked like he was staring at something so beautiful and fragile, and in a way, you are." Saphira's blush deepened as she listened. "But I know, for Springtrap, he might be thinking differently. I know he loves you, but he also fears hurting you again. That's probably why he's in the bathroom right now. He thinks he's hurt you."

Saphira kept tapping her fingers on the arms of the chair. "I guess that's something to think about." She hummed to herself for a moment before smiling. "Thank you, Golden Bonnie. You and Bonnie seem to have the best conversations." Golden Bonnie chuckled softly. "But…could you please keep this between us? I really don't want to talk about this with the others…except for maybe Bonnie if I have a chance."

"Of course. My room is soundproof too, so the others won't hear our conversation." Saphira was relieved and she stood up from the chair. "Are you going to go and find Springtrap?" Saphira nodded. "I still think you shouldn't, especially since this topic is a sore spot for him."

"It's not like I'll come out right and say anything bad to him." Saphira walked to the door and looked back at Golden Bonnie. "Thanks again, Golden Bonnie." She glanced at the tablet as an alert goes off and hits reboot as she walked through the plaza.

Saphira knew that Golden Bonnie wanted Springtrap to have the rest of the night to think, but Saphira knew that she should talk to him. She didn't want him to feel guilty as she knew this could carry over for a few days, and she didn't want that to happen. She wanted him to know she wasn't mad at him at all. She still loved him, and she wanted him to feel that from her as well. She made her way out of the Toy Plaza to the hallway and walked towards the bathroom she knew he was hiding in, hoping that things would turn out okay.
