And….yeah. I guess I might as well address the elephant in the room. Apparently, some guy decided to spam my story with troll reviews.

Believe me when I say I reported every one but since FFN's moderation team is all but nonexistent, I wouldn't count on them being removed any time soon. I even blocked the guy and he was still able to submit reviews after so there looks to be something wrong with FFN's backend as well since blocked users can't leave reviews last I remembered.

But yeah, I'm not upset about it. Not too much, anyway. It just really confuses me why anyone would feel the genuine need to spam racist, homophobic, anti-semitic and all around just offensive reviews on a random story and also wishing something as horrifying as cancer on people they don't even know. Seems like a waste of time, honestly. Guy really needs to do something with his life.

So…yeah. That was an interesting detour…but back to business. Enjoy the chapter).

Spiderman couldn't remember the last time he had swung this fast throughout New York in…well, ever. Sure, there was the occasional time when he had first gotten his powers, he would goof around and try to see how fast he could go while swinging but this was different. The life of his only family member was left hanging in the balance and there was no telling what would happen if Venom had actually gotten a hold of his aunt.

Finally after what seemed like forever, he had arrived at Forest Hill Gardens. There were several police cars around the neighborhood as Captain Stacy had told Spiderman that there had been some calls claiming to have spotted him in the area. Most were trying to contain people within their homes, warning them of the potential danger of the symbiote powered man lurking about.

The spider based vigilante had spotted the police captain with a squad of police hiding behind their cars that had been scattered on the road at the front of the Parker household as that was the last place they were told he was spotted before he disappeared. With one last swing at a lamp post, he flipped and landed on his feet behind the police car that Captain Stacy was hiding behind along with DeWolff and Carter, keeping their guns close to their person. He crouched down to meet them on eye level.

"Captain Stacy" Spiderman said to the silver haired man.

"Spiderman. I'm glad you're here. We got word that Venom was last spotted here. He must think that Peter Parker is still…well…you" George said, looking at the hero with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah…I guess he does. Has there been any word from him or…maybe May Parker?" Spiderman asked with an equal amount of hope and dread.

George simply shook his head. "Afraid not. Not from either. We believe it to be a hostage situation which is why we're hesitant on going in"

Spiderman nodded. "Yeah…I sort of got the feeling that it was. I'll go in and try to see if I can get a better look of what's going on"

George paused for a second before giving a small sigh. "Well…if you must. Please let me know if it's clear to go in and see if we can help in any way"

"I will. I'll talk to you soon, Captain" Spiderman said before getting on his feet and shooting his web at a nearby rooftop where he climbed to the top of the roof so he could get a better view. From the viewpoint he was standing at, he could see through the kitchen window. He carefully analyzed all he could see. He could see the kitchen table along with some chairs were knocked over but he couldn't see sight of either Venom or his Aunt May. This was getting worrisome. Were they even still in the house or had Venom already taken him somewhere? If he had, where would he have taken her? After all, it was him he wanted, right? Why wouldn't he at least try to contact him that he was holding her and to come to him or something of the sort? Question after question filled in his mind and he wasn't getting any closer to finding the answer to any sitting up on the rooftop of the house next door. He needed to get to work.

Very carefully as to not stir up too much noise, Spiderman leapt from the rooftop to the ground floor in front of the window. Even with a better look, he still couldn't see a soul inside which caused his curiosity to increase as well as his fear. There was no telling what Venom could be up to with his aunt and the 17 year old shuddered at all the ideas he had in his head of the possibilities.

Spiderman lifted up the window leading into the kitchen from the outside. Aunt May usually liked to leave the window open a little bit when she baked cookies and sometimes forgot to lock it again when she closed it. It was always a trick she used when he was a little kid to come back inside from playing with his Uncle Ben outside when he was getting a bit tired. The thought made him smile however it wasn't really the time to reminisce on old memories.

Now inside the house, it was pretty odd. For the most part, it was pretty quiet and most of the noise was coming from outside with all the police cars parked outside. However, he could hear something that was kind of out of place from the living room, a sort of whimpering noise….Aunt May!

Dashing through the kitchen and into the living room, Spiderman sped around the couch and he indeed could see the older woman laying down on the couch, groaning and aching her eyes closed. Peter's eyes widened behind his mask as he knelt down in front of the woman. He gently tried to shake her awake.

"May Parker! It's me, Pe…I mean Spiderman. I'm here to help you!" Spiderman said as he shook her as gently as he could while also being firm.

Ever so slowly, the woman's eyes began to open until they were open slightly enough to see the spider based hero in the middle of her living room.

"Spiderman…I…I don't…why are you here? There…there was someone else…that monster Venom…he…he…" May said, hardly able to get anything out. She was in pain, Spiderman could tell. She needed medical attention now.

"It's alright, ma'am. I'll help you. Is…Is Venom still here?" Spiderman asked, needing to be absolutely sure.

"N…no. He…he left out back through the kitchen window some time ago. He…he said he wanted you…I…after he left, I just gathered all my strength and lied down on the couch. I heard the police outside but I just couldn't. I…I was too weak to do anything…I…I still don't know if I can do anything" May explained to the best of her ability. She tried to sit up but let out a pretty audible groan as she tried.

"Don't worry, Mrs. Parker. I'll…I'll get help! Just lay here" Spiderman said, running towards the door. He swung the door open so hard, he almost broke it off from the doorway. He ran outside towards the police cars.

Several police officers came up from behind the cars and pointed them towards the vigilante running down the walkway of the house.

"Spiderman, what's wrong?!" George asked, also sticking his head up, looking very concerned. It wasn't like him to run from a fight.

"Venom's gone…but Mrs. Parker is still inside and she needs medical attention. We need to call an ambulance" Spiderman said, explaining to the police captain, anxiously breathing.

George looked towards the door, his face growing twice as grim as before, then looked back towards Spiderman and nodded.

"Agreed. DeWolff, get an ambulance down here now! Carter, get a squad in there and search the house. See if Venom left any clues as to where he could've gone" George ordered to his two most trusted officers. They both nodded and got to work with DeWolff getting on her two way radio to dispatch while Carter and a group of officers started to go inside. Spiderman wanted to go inside as well to help but George held him back.

"No, Spiderman. You can't" George said with a regretful look in his eyes.

"Wh-what? But…sir, I-" Spiderman tried to argue for his case but the police captain merely shook his head.

"I'm sorry, son but this is an official crime scene now and it can't be interfered with as much as I'd like you to help with this" George explained. The officer didn't like saying this but it wasn't his call. He could barely get away with letting Spiderman roam as a free vigilante.

Spiderman said nothing to this. In response, he just looked down at the ground, not able to say anything. The teen felt a hand being placed on his shoulder.

"It'll be alright, Spiderman. My guys are the best in the business. We'll see that Mrs. Parker gets the care she needs….I promise" George said, looking at the hero's bent head.

At first, Spiderman did nothing. However, after a few minutes, he looked up at George and simply nodded, his stoic expression unchanging from behind his mask. He simply nodded at the police captain who nodded back and looked back towards the house, eagerly awaiting anything that could be used to draw towards Venom's location.

Minutes went by and the police were still searching the house until an ambulance truck could be seen coming down the street. The neighborhood was given quite the show as several people peeked from behind their windows towards the scene. New York was quite an active city but they lived in a boring neighborhood where nothing happened. This was almost alien to them seeing so much action going on in this area.

Medics came rushing out from the back of the ambulance and brought out a stretcher. They moved towards the house while strolling the medical mattress down the doorway. The sight alone was enough to make Spiderman twitch. However, it was nothing compared to seeing the medics strolling Aunt May out of her home strapped down to it. He wanted to look away but it was like his eyes and feet were glued to the ground.

As quickly as they could, the medics took the stretcher and loaded it up into the ambulance. For a brief second, Spiderman could almost swear he saw May open one eye and shoot him a look. However, before he could even hope to verify it, the medics shut the doors to the ambulance behind him. The ambulance then began to light up, blare out the sirens and drive away to the nearest hospital. Even still, Spiderman couldn't move, stunned at the sight. He had seen her in the hospital before but it was nothing compared to this. Seeing her weak, helpless and in desperate need…it was gut wrenching. It almost compared to….

"Captain!" A voice rang out, snapping Spiderman out of his trance as both him and George looked towards the doorway and saw Sergeant Carter come out, holding something in his hand.

"Yes, Carter, what is it?" George asked, going up the doorway.

"We found something. It looks like a note…from Venom" Carter said, displaying a carefully folded piece of paper to his captain, who all but snatched it from his hand and examined it carefully before looking back up at the officer.

"Have you read it? What does it say?" George asked, wanting answers.

"Well…we didn't actually read it, sir. It's…not for us" Carter said, signaling his captain to turn the note over to the other side.

Doing so, George could in fact see that the note was indeed labeled 'To the Spider' written in aggressive but readable handwriting. He glanced back at Carter real quick who just had a blank expression on his face before turning towards the true recipient of the message.

"I…I guess this is for you, Spiderman" George said, walking back towards the hero in question and passing him the note.

Spiderman looked up at him and raised an eyebrow.

"You're…just letting me have it? Isn't it evidence that needs to be looked at and taken in for investigation?" Spiderman asked. George just shook his head

"Venom's made it quite clear he's after you so odds are it wouldn't be any information that would make sense to us so…go on ahead" George said, explaining his reasoning.

"Ok…thank you…could you also let me know when and if you find Venom. It is me he's after like you said…no one else should be getting hurt because of it" Spiderman asked.

"We'll do our best but we likely won't find Venom unless he does want to be found. I imagine he may have had a hand in making sure he was spotted in this area to give you a reason to come here" George explained to the teen hero.

Spiderman could only manage a nod before the police captain turned and walked towards the crime scene to get a better look himself. With one last look at the captain, he began to look at the note. One thing was for sure, he could tell this wasn't Eddie's handwriting. It was far too scribbly. His was far nearer than this. The symbiote must be taking too much control, definitely not a good sign for potentially talking him down.

Finally, he unfolded the note and began to read the note with as much concentration he could muster.

Hey Spidey,

It turns out your aunt's not really in the right condition for some fun. She collapsed and started wheezing as soon as she saw us. We guess she may be having a stroke. She's on the floor right now just moaning and groaning. She'll be ok, we think. Who knows, anyway and who honestly cares? We can do this without her anyway. Besides, Brock was getting all uppity on us using her as bait.

Anyway, don't think this is the end of our fun tonight. We still plan on ending you before the morning comes. However, we'll bide our time and prepare while you look after your aunt at the moment. If you're wondering how you'll know when and where to find us, don't worry. We'll send you an…invitation, so to speak. We strongly urge you to come when we signal for you. Otherwise, some people may have to get hurt, innocent people who have nothing to do with any of this. You wouldn't exactly want that now, would you?

Either way, think about it. We'll be in touch

Venom

After finishing the note, Spiderman began to go at the piece of paper, ripping it to shreds and throwing the pieces of paper onto the ground. His fear had quickly turned into anger as he read it. The symbiote had crossed the line now. After it was detached from Eddie, he was going to take it to the nearest furnace or fire pit he could find, shove it straight in the middle and watch it burn. After tonight, it won't be able to hurt anyone else, least of all his loved ones.

Without another word, he swung away from the crime scene, several police officers watching as he just left without even saying anything which was pretty curious to them. However, it was necessary as Spiderman needed a place to change. He had an aunt to look after right now while he waited for Venom's 'invitation', whatever that would be….

*Outside ESU Laboratory*

Gwen Stacy and Dr. Martha Connors were escorting Dr. Curt Connors to a parked car in the parking lot near the ESU Laboratory. After a long while, they were approaching their car.

"Ok, easy, Curt. Lie down in the back. Gwen, get in the front seat. I'll drive us to our house" Martha said, opening the back door, allowing her husband to crawl in the back of the car. He seethed in pain as he just lied down across the passenger seats.

Just as Martha was about to close the back doors, there was something incredibly unsettling that came across their ears: A loud scream that they could hear coming from inside the lab.

All three of them, even Curt, twisted their heads towards the lab. The scream was recognizable. It was Liz and the scream they could tell was one from pain.

For a while, they just stared in silent, not knowing what to do. However, after a few moments and without fully knowing what she was doing, Gwen started dashing towards the lab.

"Gwen!" Both Curt and Martha shouted after her. This caused her to stop and turn towards both her bosses with an extremely worried look.

"What are you doing?" Curt asked, his voice raising as he continued lying down in the car.

"I…I need to help. They're in trouble. I just know it. I can't just sit and do nothing" Gwen said, trying to rationalize her actions to her bosses and in a way, to herself.

In response to this, Martha only stepped forward and looked Gwen deep in the eye.

"Listen, Gwen. I understand that you want to help but the fact of the matter is that whoever's inside there with the both of them is highly unstable and will hurt anyone who will try to get in his way. As much as I would love nothing more to help them…there's nothing we can do" Martha said, looking down sympathetically at the girl. She definitely understood her wanting to help but what could she possibly be expecting to do? Talk him down? That wasn't happening and it would likely only get her killed in the process.

Gwen didn't say a word in response. She only took a deep breath in and out. Afterwards, the blonde girl tilted her head down to the ground with her eyes closed and just stood as still as she could.

"I'm sorry, Gwen…but this is the right thing to do" Martha said in an apologetic tone, knowing full well Gwen didn't want to leave her friends (Or whatever the both of them were to her) here. She expected her to be upset but she wasn't really expecting what came next.

Gwen was shaking her head as she lightly shoved Martha's hand off her shoulder. This came as a great shock to both Martha and Curt as Gwen wasn't necessarily a girl to disobey orders from her superiors. It was actually the first time they had ever seen any defiance in her if they were being honest.

"No…no. I'm sorry…but I need to help. They're…they're important to Peter…and that means they're important to me. They were both there for Peter during a time where I should have been but wasn't. They helped him out of a dark place. If something happens to them...I don't even want to know what'll happen to him…so no. I can't go with you right now. I need to do something or else I'll regret it for the rest of my life" Gwen said, finally looking up and looking at the both of them with a determined look in her eyes that she hadn't displayed to anyone before, even her own father.

Both Martha and Curt looked at each other, looking very concerned. This was clearly something they weren't going to talk Gwen out of.

"I know you guys are looking out for my well being right now and I appreciate that…but the best way to look out for me right now is not to just lock me up in a house until the trouble hopefully just goes away…it's finding an effective way for me to help" Gwen said, standing up straight and looking between both of them for suggestions.

The husband and wife duo went silent for a while now, just staring at each other waiting for the other to come up with a response. However, after a long while, both came up with nothing substantive to say so Martha just gave a sigh and looked back at the blonde intern.

"Gwen…I…I don't really know what to say. We're scientists, not mercenaries. Neither of us have any experience dealing with a mentally gone man with enhanced abilities and we don't have any weapons in the lab to speak of. We-" Martha went on, trying to explain. However, she was cut off by her husband.

"Wait!" Curt cried out, his eyes lighting up. It looks as if he had come up with something. Both of the women turned towards the blonde doctor.

"What is it, Curt?" Martha asked, looking her husband in the eyes. However, she waited for a response that didn't come.

Instead, her husband gave her a look, a knowing look. In a few moments, Martha began to understand as her eyes widened. She then began to shake her head wildly.

"No! Absolutely not! We can't let her do that! Not after everything we talked about tonight!" Martha exclaimed, strongly disagreeing with what her husband was implying.

"Martha, in any other situation, I would agree with you but we're obviously not going to talk her out of this. It's the only way we can ensure that she has some level of protection" Curt retorted back, leaning up from the back of the car.

"But…how…how do we even know it's safe? It's not-" Martha tried to fire back but Curt interrupted her mid-sentence.

"It's the only option we have right now" Curt said, sadly. This was obviously not something he was enthusiastic about. However, it hardly seemed like they had a choice at the moment.

Martha just looked at her husband with a solemn face and said nothing. She hated this idea, dreaded this idea, would even spit at the thought of this idea if that were a possibility…however…deep down, she knew her partner was right.

"Excuse me, what exactly are you both talking about?" Gwen asked, chipping in as she raised an eyebrow. This caused both of the doctors to stop in the middle of their argument and look back towards their intern.

"...Gwen…there's…something we need to explain to you if you're going to do this…" Martha said as she lowered her head and simply sighed, for the life of her hating what she was about to say next.
