Hey readers! Sorry for the hiatus, but I was focused on completing my other FNAF story before the Security Breach Ruin DLC came out, and I am glad that I did because that story is now finished. If you have not read it already, I recommend it. It is already one of my most favorite stories that I have written. Sparkle Like a Superstar is a great story if you wish to read it.
As for this story, I intend to finish the first book before the movie comes out in October. I apologize again for the hiatus for this story, but I am back on it and it will get finished, and it will also get it's long deserved sequel.
Saphira hummed softly as she closed the door to her car and covered her head with her jacket, running towards the back door for the pizzeria. Thunder rumbled above as rain pelted down on the cars and pavement around her. She tried her best to make sure that she was not drenched as she reached the backdoor and opened it quickly, wincing as the door groaned loudly as she forced it open. When she closed it shut, she shook some water off on the bricks before she walked towards the office. She was not sure about how tonight was going to go since the previous night she ended up getting along exceptionally well with the nightmare animatronics. But she was worried mostly because Nightmare had seen her, but as she had been covered, he didn't know it was her.
"Good evening, Saphira." She jumped a little as she walked into the office and saw Mike sitting at his desk. "I see the weather is pretty horrible tonight. I am not looking forward to going out into that." He chuckled a little as Saphira smiled at him in amusement and walked over to her desk to put her stuff down. "What did you think about the nightmare animatronics? Scary right?"
She looked at him with a nod as she sat down. "Yeah, a little scary." He raised an eyebrow in surprise when she said they were a little scary. "They are not too much scarier than Springtrap to be honest. But their designs are honestly very cool! I am surprised that you did not wait until Halloween. They would have been perfect to reveal to guests at that time of year."
"That is because there is a surprise that I am planning." A surprise? "Those nightmare animatronics were meant to be here before Halloween. There are other animatronics due to arrive on Halloween, and they are also going to go in the Bedroom of Nightmares."
"More animatronics?" Saphira could not help but shake her head, as that seemed like a lot. "It seems like an awful lot, Mike. How many animatronics do we have now?" Saphira began to count them with her fingers thoughtfully. "Over twenty now…and this place isn't big. Plus, there's only so much extra rooms we can make."
The man chuckled in amusement at her reply. "I know, but…you will be surprised at how much room we actually have available on this lot. I am not sure what plan we will have for next year…but…Mister Afton has an interest in a major renovation of the place…which means the attraction will get shut down during those renovations…but I don't know when."
Oh, I am not sure I like the sound of that.
"Well, anyway…" Mike turned to the computer as he had some kind of file up on his screen. Saphira leaned forward a little as she noticed that it seemed like it was a digital receipt for some kind of purchase. She tried to see what was one the receipt, and the only thing that stuck out was stem cells. "Anyway, I was just purchasing a few important things for him. Just some paint and a few design features that will get added to the attraction."
Oh sure…stem cells are totally going to be part of this attraction.
She looked at the printer as Mike began to print the file before he minimized it on the computer and waited for the document to print. "I also had a great idea. Now that the nightmare animatronics are here, they will make great guard dogs of this place at night. If there are break ins here at the pizzeria, you probably only need to use Nightmare to scare them right out of the building."
Saphira chuckled softly as she knew that Nightmare was terrifying to see in the dark, even though he turned out to be a big softie. "I will keep that in mind, Mike. But I have managed to be scary enough…and actually, Springtrap has been just as effective."
"I have no doubt." Mike grabbed the document from the computer and folded it before putting it into an envelope. He sighed deeply as he glanced up as the rain began to pour heavily onto the roof. "Great…I only hope that this does not get destroyed…I really need to get this to Afton…" He reached over to his computer and pressed the CD button, and he does not seem to realize it. "This does it for me. I am out of here."
Saphira smiled politely as the man stood up and gathered his things before he put the envelope under his jacket. "Hopefully the boss won't get mad over any rain damage. The storm was predicted for tonight, so…hopefully he will understand."
Mike sighed deeply and gave her a slightly unhappy expression. "He's aware of the weather, but…Afton has OCD, and if it is not perfect…I can't really say what he does when something is not perfect. But…that's all you need to know." He zipped up his jacket and walked towards the door. "Have a good night, Saphira. Don't let the nightmares bite."
How original…
"Hope you don't get too drenched," Saphira said with a light chuckle as he walked out of the office. The man just waved and she heard him walk to the door and open it.
It was surprisingly loud with the rain pelting down on the roof. It was hard to really hear anything. Saphira kind of liked that because then it wouldn't be super silent. But there was always sounds in the attraction anyway. It was just different now that there was rain. She never knew it would be loud, but she hasn't really been to the pizzeria during heavy rain, so it was definitely drumming out a lot of the sound.
But her eyes gaze over at Mike's computer. He did not turn it off, he had left it on accidentally. And she would be able to find the last file he had opened to see what was on that receipt. She rolled herself over to the desk casually to find the file that Mike had opened. She found it in the downloads file and opened it. And it did not take long for her to see what was on the receipt. Human stem cells, animal stem cells, human hearts, liver and kidney from various transplant facilities and blood bags. It was quite the shopping list.
Saphira grabbed an empty sketchbook to write these bits of details down before closing the file and shutting down the computer. She did not want Mike to be suspicious of her at this time. But she now had other information to dissect. She could not help but sketch an image of Bonnie and begin to draw the internal anatomy and begin to try and guess what is used to create their internals. She knew stem cells can be used for various things, but she did not know what Afton would use them for in terms of growing things like muscles.
It was disturbing, but Saphira was happy to have more material. She also thought about finding the basement room again with the information about the growing tubes that Afton would have used to grow and create the living animatronics. She felt like there was a lot of information that she could find there. She knew that while she would find the drawings of the various technology that he would use to make them, she could not help but wonder if Afton written how he discovered that living metal like the animatronics. That was what was most curious to her.
She opened her phone to check the location of the truck. And it was still parked at Afton's place. She pondered on whether she wanted to even go to that place to see what he had there. She knew she might not get many chances, but if she had a chance, she was going to take it. She did know that what she would find, would make things clearer to understand.
She ended up sketching a basic tube that was similar to the tube that was still in the basement. And she drew just an outline sketch of what she would imagine the animatronics would look like while within that tube. It was hard to believe that all of them were created and birthed from the tubes. Even if Afton had evil intentions, she wouldn't have friends like the animatronics without him. And she hated that fact.
She spent the time sketching and writing down notes about the animatronics, and listed the other type of materials that Mike and Afton buy. She did not know what type of metal the coverings were for the animatronics. But she had a feeling they were military grade, but she could not be sure. She was concentrating on her notes and sketches so much that she did not pay attention to the time.
The rain on the roof was drowning out the sound, so it felt like she was alone. She did not even bother putting earphones in as that wouldn't drown out the sound very much. She rests her cheek on the desk as she sketched another tube image and tapped her pencil thoughtfully. She tried to imagine what modifications they would have so that Afton could create the animatronics.
She only jumped with a start and sat up straight when she barely heard her name being called. She looked to the door and let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, Bonnie…you startled me."
The animatronic smiled politely as he stepped into the office, raising an eyebrow when Saphira closed her sketchbook quickly to stop him from seeing what she had written. "I apologize. I am afraid the rain is making it hard for even us to hear anything. And even the smell of the rain is blocking our senses." She smirked a little as she loved the smell of rain. "So…how are you feeling? You and the nightmare animatronics have gotten along very well, and I am happy. But you still seem to be thinking of other things."
Saphira shrugged a little, glancing at the time and realizing that it was fifteen past twelve already. "Well…yeah, I guess I am a bit distracted." She looked at the cameras and checked through them a little before she looked at Bonnie. "I guess…I am not sure how I feel either, Bonnie. I…I feel…I don't know."
Bonnie smiled at her as he understood. "I had hoped that you would be happier after seeing how much Nightmare made you laugh last night. But I guess not even he can wash the pain away." She did not respond as she agreed with Bonnie. "And…" He reached over to the sketchbook and grabbed onto it, making Saphira gasp and clamp her arms on it. "You are keeping secrets."
"No, no! It is nothing for you to worry about, Bonnie." Saphira kept her arms on the book as Bonnie also had a grip on it. "I was doing some private sketches…you do not need to see them. I can fully promise you that."
"That is not what I saw." Bonnie yanked the sketchbook from under her, making her elbows bump the desk and she grimaced a little as the little bump hurt her elbows. He opened the book, and he quickly found the evidence. "Saphira, you do know you could be digging a deeper hole?"
"Yes, yes, I know!" Saphira rolled her eyes at Bonnie folded her arms. "But…I need to know how he made you…we know why he made you the way you are, and what Afton wants, but I need to know how." She glanced up at the vents as she was sure that he was listening to her. She looked back at him with a frown. "I know it is dangerous, Bonnie. And Afton wants me to play some kind of game…but that does not mean that I can't learn more."
Bonnie looked at the sketches and notes that Saphira had created. His ears droop slightly, and he looked at her with sad eyes. "What does knowing about how we were made even do for you, Saphira? Would it only just be a means to end curiosity for you?"
"Well…yeah…" Saphira looked away from him and rests her chin on the desk. "I guess that's kind of selfish…but…I suppose by knowing more, I might learn what Afton wants. Even it is somehow part of the game…"
He placed his hand on her shoulder gently with a smile. "Are you certain it is even something you want to do? I feel like your are trying to keep your mind occupied as well. You don't want to think about how you and Springtrap should mend your relationship."
"Of course, I do! That is still on my mind. But…" Saphira glanced at her watch before she stood up suddenly, forcing Bonnie to lift his hand from her shoulder. "I need to go and do my rounds of the pizzeria, Bonnie. If you want to come with me, you can. I could use a bit of company."
"Ooh, you are the doing the rounds of the pizzeria?!" She and Bonnie were a little startled, turning to see Nightmare at the door of the office with a smile. Saphira jumped when there was a loud clap of thunder right above the building. "My goodness, that is so dang loud!" Nightmare rubbed his ears and shook his head with a frown. "This is way too noisy! Why does rain and thunder have to be so loud?!"
"That's just the way the weather is sometimes." Saphira smiled as she walked over to the animatronic as she felt a little better to have another animatronic present. "And yes, I am going to go do a round of the pizzeria. It's just the normal thing that I need to do. And with the rain pelting down like this, I should make sure no random door is open."
"You make it sound kind of boring." She rolled her eyes at Nightmare and walked around him as she made her way down the hallway towards the Loading Dock. Bonnie and Nightmare follow behind the girl. "But I do not mind tagging along. After all, if it is boring, and least I can make it better. Anyway…" He glanced at Bonnie with a curious expression. "You looked like you were scolding her about something? What was it? Was it something to do with Afton, maybe?"
Bonnie nodded as Saphira groaned a little. "Saphira is interested in how we were made, Nightmare. She has been from the start. And while it is nice to have curiosity, now that she is unable to leave without Afton killing her and her family, I fear that she needs to be careful."
"Ah, I see…and you are also probably thinking she needs to spend more time with us." The rabbit animatronic nodded again. Nightmare simply grinned at him. "Well…I am not entirely sure about Saphira's personality yet, even though I have been fed so much information about her, so I don't know if nagging and forcing her is a good idea."
"Maybe not…but I am concerned." Bonnie glanced at Saphira as he noticed she was stomping ahead of them, and she seemed to be very upset. "It is a game that he wants her to play…but…she also needs to be careful. We already have told you about this Nightmare."
"I know." Nightmare watched her curiously before he leaned in and whispered. "You know the person that I saw dressed in black the other night. For some reason, I think it was her. I am not sure why, but that is my gut feeling."
Bonnie did not respond to Nightmare. When Nightmare had told them about the person who snuck into the Loading Dock a couple nights ago, he did think it was Saphira. But he hoped that it was not her. If Afton knew, she would be in bigger trouble. "I think it is best to keep that quiet. We do not need the wrong idea invited into the hallways all the time." He glanced at a vent as they walked by it. "I am sure you mean well in knowing the answer…"
"Don't worry, it will be okay. I won't poke the fire." Nightmare placed his hands over his ears as there was the loud sound of a howl coming from the Loading Dock. "That is loud! The door must be opened!"
Saphira seemed to agree as ran over to the door and opened it into the Loading. She folded her arms as the cold air mixed with droplets of water hit her skin like knives. She shivered as she ran towards the open door. It was swinging wildly from the wind. She grabbed the door to try and push it, but the wind seemed to be stronger. But she didn't have to struggle for very long as Nightmare and Bonnie quickly ran over to the door to help push it shut so she could lock it.
Saphira let out a deep sigh of relief as the door was now locked. She jiggled the doorknob to test it, and it thankfully did not swing open. "Thanks…that was a little chilly." She shivered a little as she felt goose bumps over her body. "So…I guess I should just keep talking to you guys. I know you were talking about me before."
"I am concerned for you."
"I know, Bonnie. But…I think we are past the point where I am safe anyway." Saphira was certain of that fact. "Honestly, I am learning about it to understand his intentions, and…well…I am not sure if I can do anything to stop him…but…I don't know." She shrugged a little as she felt as she needed to do something. "I won't just sit around and wait for something to happen. That would just be silly."
"I agree. It is best that you do, do something. But…" Nightmare placed his hand on the back of his head as Saphira opened the door to make their way to the kitchen. "I kind of remember that while I was asleep…and knowledge about you filled my head…I got a lot of instruction on how to kill you…I worry that something might cause me to do that."
Both Saphira and Bonnie looked at him with horrified expressions. That certainly was not the kind of admittance was something that they had expected. "Well…we aren't programmed like robots, Nightmare…so I think that's a little weird for you to say. But that is good that you decided to warn us in case something does happen."
"I hope it does not. I already love Saphira!" Nightmare hugged her suddenly, making her squeak in surprise, and the bot lets her go with a gasp as another loud clapped sounded above. "Ah! My ears!" He shook his head with a frown. "When is the storm meant to stop?"
"I am afraid I do not know." Saphira brushed herself off as she was surprised by the sudden hug. She pushed the door open into the kitchen and she was relieved that the delivery door was shut. "That's one less door to worry about." She walked over to it to test it, and it was locked properly. "I don't suppose you can tell if we have any unwanted guests."
"There are none. And to be fair, people seem to stay away on nights like this." Bonnie glanced at the window as lightning flashed outside, illuminating shadows of various items in the kitchen. "I would think you are feeling a little creeped out by how dark this place gets?"
"If the rain was not so loud, I might feel that way." Saphira turned to make her way out to the main dining room. "But since the rain is so loud that we almost have to shout to speak to each other, what do you guys do anyway?"
Nightmare was also intrigued on what the animatronics would do on nights that they have nothing to do. Bonnie simply chuckled at her. "The same as we do all the time. We pass the time by playing board games, or cards, whichever we feel like. We don't make a huge ruckus, so we don't draw attention from the authorities."
"Boring!" Nightmare seemed to be completely shocked that, that is what they would do. "You guys really don't do much for fun when you aren't killing someone. Honestly, we need to think of something way better to do with our time." Bonnie gave him a curious expression as he was silently asking him what he would suggest. "You say we can't hold parties. Well why not? I think it would be much better."
"As I said, we don't want to draw the attention. We don't need police here." Bonnie let out a light chuckle of amusement at the nightmare animatronic as he was being silly. "We could watch movies if we had a TV to watch. That would certainly help pass the time."
"I guess…" Nightmare opened the door ahead of Saphira to enter the main dining room. "Oh, hey, Nightmare Freddy! I didn't realize you guys were hanging around out here. I was just tagging along with Saphira and Bonnie here doing her normal round of the pizzeria."
Nightmare Freddy just grinned at Nightmare. "Foxy wanted to show us something. He said he has decided to play some kind of game, and we are all included."
"A board game?" Nightmare asked with a light groan. "Bonnie was just explaining how everyone else passes the time here. Board games are boring, Nightmare Freddy."
"Argh, me game is not bored!" Foxy snapped. Saphira looked over at Foxy and smiled as she saw that a basketball stand had been set up, and the bots had moved tables aside. "How 'bout we play some basketball? Me figured since this set is in storage all the time, we can use it."
"Just make sure you don't break it. I really don't need to try and explain some kind of story to Mike tomorrow. I would not be looking forward to that at all." Saphira glanced around as she saw almost every animatronic was here. Springtrap was the only one absent. "Maybe I'll come back and watch the game soon. And I think it will be a lot of fun."
"Oh, it definitely will be!" Freddy picked up the basketball and began to bounce it. "We have already been practicing shooting hoots. Maybe you want to play, Nightmare? Or do you wish to complete walking with Saphira?"
Nightmare seemed to be very intrigued by the idea of playing basketball. He wanted to stay and play, but he glanced at Saphira. "Uh…well…"
"It is okay, Nightmare. I only have the front door to check…and then I have to go to Chica's Love Chapel…and after that, I have something I want to do. And it's literally boring, I need to write a few documents for school." The bot immediately made a grimace at the idea of it. "But I have to finish the documents, or I am going to fail."
"Hmmmm…" He rubbed his chin with a frown, watching Saphira make her way to the front door of the pizzeria to check the front doors. He knew that they were closed, so Saphira would be fine. "Well…" He watched Freddy bounce the ball with his hand, and he began to give a playful, teasing expression. "I've never played basketball…I want to learn how to play." He looked at her with an apologetic expression. "I do hope you won't mind."
She shook her head as she checked the front door, making sure it was locked. "I don't mind at all. I'd play, but I would be a little concerned about being stepped on, or have an animatronic throw a ball at my face. You guys are a lot stronger and heavier, as you know."
Toy Chica giggled as she nodded in agreement. "But we are always careful on where we step, Saphira. Your little toes will not get crushed, I can promise you that. But…maybe when you go and do your documents, I could bring you a hot chocolate. Especially since tonight is…" A clap of thunder boomed again and Toy Chica frowned, folding her arms. "This storm is persistent tonight."
"It hurts our ears!" Nightmare Bonnie groaned with a shake of his head, holding his hands over his ears. "How does the thunder not hurt your ears?"
Chica shrugged a little. "I guess we just got used to it. Anyway, we should try and ignore the storm and play some basketball!" She giggled loudly as she ran at Freddy and snagged the ball as it was in mid bounce and dribbled it away from him. "What's the matter, Freddy? You lost something?"
Freddy grinned at Chica playfully and got in a defensive position. "So that's how it is going to be, hmm? Look out, little chicken, I am going to totally ruffle your feathers."
Chica just laughed as she dribbled the ball and ran around Freddy in an attempt to score. Saphira smiled as she walked by, watching as Freddy moved to try and block Chica. The other animatronics watch the two play happily, and kept all of their eyes on the action. Saphira did not mind, walking out of the dining room and into the hallway. She glanced over at the Toy Plaza entry, and listened for a moment before ducking into the plaza to find some paper and pencils to borrow. She needed them because she did intend on going to Chica's Love Chapel, but she intended on finding the hidden basement again.
Once she found some pencils and paper, Saphira made her way to the Haunted Classroom. She would still check the chapel to make sure that area had no hidden trespassers making out in one of the bedrooms. Other than that, she had another plan to just take a bit of time to write down and draw things to continue figuring out what puzzle pieces there might be. She jumped as the thunder cracked again, and she hated it because the pizzeria itself shook from the rumble of the thunder. It was like a storm was literally hitting the building itself. But she took a deep breath, and kept walking as she knew what she had to do for tonight.
