Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm
"Attention, 1st year female students! Please report to the nurse's office for the annual check-up immediately after class"
Ryo read over the message again, sighing and closing her PDA "I should've seen this comin...Its already a couple of weeks into 1st year". She muttered, placing the PDA in her bedside drawer and sliding the drawer shut. "Hopefully it won't take long... we have Chronos-sensei's class today, and everyone knows him much he loves giving homework"...
"Hey Ryo!". Ran skipped into the room, holding her own PDA in her hands. "Did you get the message?"
The dark teal blue haired girl shot her friend a neutral look. "You came to see me... an hour before class, just to see if I had gotten a message about a yearly check-up?" She questioned. "Of course I did . What are you so excited about, anyways?"
Yuna entered next rolling her eyes. "Oh, Ran targeted her latest victim. Nothing new"
Ryo sighed, folding her arms. "Who is it this time ?"
Ran promptly turned pink and remained silent. Ryo feigned shock.
"Ran's queit? What did you put in her food last night, Yuna?"
Then both laughed in unison
"Very funny, Ryo. Come on let's go!"
She frowned. "Go where? Class doesn't start for another fifthy min. I was thinking of just hanging around here and going through my deck once more",
"Oh Ryo?!" Yuna let out a sigh. "Stop being so meticulous about your dueling and have some fun! You never act like a girl. You're always so serious about everything. Lighten up! We could go to the beach and scout some handsome hunks".
Ryo's eyebrows rose. "No one's at the beach at this time except Taku".
Both her friends swooned briefly. Ryo rubbed the bridge of her nose
"Aren't you two over him already? Surely it's pretty obvious that he's never going to settle down".
Yuna rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Fine, if not the beach, we can go hang out in boys dorm! A lot of them are already awake".
"I don't have a choice, do I?"
"No!" squeaked both girls, pulling at their friends arm. "Lets go!"
Outside the main building
"Its almost time for class! Can we leave already?"
"Hey, Ryo! look that guy coming over! He just be interested!"
Ryo laced her arms together and exhaled angrily. "I'm not going to miss class just so you can flirt guys". She snapped irritably. Ran and Yuna tore their minds away from the approaching Taku and exchange curious glares. Ryo was never impatient...well rarely
"I am going to class. See you," With that, Ryo turned and walked towards the main building,
Ran sighhed. "C'Mon Yuna. She's in a bad mood today, we'd better not leave her side in case some ignorant person questions her and she downturn apart,
Yuna nodded in agreement, running after her friend. "Ryo! Wait up!" She yelled.
The girls stop waiting for her friends to catch up. "What"? she asked, her features softer and calmer. Ran was breathing hard, clutching her sides.
"I't only run for you. Ryo," she grumbled, leaning against Yuna. "Anyways. What's up with you? Why are you so moody"... She paused trying to find the right word. "intolerant of everything and everyone today?"
"What?" Ryo blinked at Ran'a words. "Oh, earlier...I'm sorry about that. I guess I am having mood swings because I am currently having my periods",
Ran shrugged accepting her friends apology, but Yuna narrowed her eyes.
"Now that makes sense for you to have mood swings". "Should we get to class now?" Yuna said aloud. "We'have got like ten minutes.
Ryo blanched. "Yeah let's got! She turned and quickly strolled down towards the main building, her deck in one hand, the other hand swinging gently
Ran groaned. "No more running"
Infirmary
At the infirmary all the 1st year girls are standing in Que waiting for Emi Ayukawa to talk them for checkup
"Good too see you girls. Just line up right there, this won't take too long ". Ayukawa the head of Obelisk girls dorm and school nurse, tapped a pencil against her clipboard. "All right girls seems like you're all here. One by one please..."
Ryo shifted inpatiently near the back of the line. "I don't understand the point of check-up". She grumbled. "I mean, we can just check our height, weight and BP and everything at home. Why do we have to do it at school? Its just a waste of our free time".
Ran rolled her eyes. "At least Chronos didn't give us homework because of this. I have a feeling Ayukawa instructed him not to. Our BP and everything would probably go up or something". She giggled
Anna shrugged. "Ayukawa-sensei did say it wouldn't take long. Just relax Ryo". She frowned. "Hey, speaking of which...You weren't here for the 1st week check-ups, were you?"
Ryo nodded. "Yeah, I wasn't... didn't it happen on the day before school started, or something?"
"No, they were on the first day. I know you were here. I sat next to you in class..."
Ryo shrugged . "I think I had something to do. Besides, my parents gave my medical records to Ayukawa.
"Ryo-kun you're next ! Don't keep us all waiting!" The nurse called.
"Oh sorry Ayukawa-sensei", she apologized, stepping through the doorway into the examining room. "Okay, um what should I do first?"
Emi eyes the girl strangely, "Wait you weren't here for the 1st day checkup correc t?" All right now take off your boots, and stand here"...
Ryo stood next to the tall silver scale carved with lines. Emi nodded, noting something down.
"Good you're nice and tall, step over here next..."
Ryo breathed a faint with of irritation as she steped on the weighing scale. "Alright dear, almost done, just a few more".
The dark blue teal girl exhaled in relief as Emi finished writing her details in a register. "All right Ryo-kun, you're free to go", the nurse beammed, flipping through a file. Ryo briskly stepped through the doorway again, signaling for Anna to go in next..
"Ryo", called Emi. The girl paused, turning slightly
"Yes Ayukawa-sensei?"
"I just check the records your parents send me...Seems like you are due for few vaccinations. Nothing major, just two. Why don't you come over after class tomorrow? I will give them to you before I check the boys".
The dark blue haired girl turned pale, fiddling with her blouse. "Oh, um. I-I don't know, Ayukawa sensei, I might have homework and such"... she stuttered.
"Oh, nonsense. It won't even take 2 min." The school nurse waved Ryo's excuses aside. "Now I will see you here tomorrow at four, all right? Have a nice day, dear!"
"Oh yeah, it''ll be wonderful..." the girl muttered. "Hey , listen Yuna, I"n gonna head back. See you, Anna, and Ran at dinner?"
"Sure, Ryo. See you" The seaweed girl saved at her, turning back to watch Anna enter the nurse's examination room.
"I need some fresh air", murmured Ryo, heading towards the beach.
At the beach
After the check up Ryo went to the Juice bar at beach to get some smoothie.
"Hey Ryo What are you doin here shouldn't you be at the nurse'a office?" Taku seems surprise at Ryo'a appearance, while she flared at him
"How do you know?"
He shrugged. "We got a message to except ours is tommorow.
"Turns out I havea couple of shots to take tommorow". She said after taking a zip of her drink
Taku'a face lost the grin, and have a look of concern. "You going to be okay?"
"Yeah, I guess. Its been a while since I last freaked out like this'' She smiled
Ryo rolled a deep breath, her gaze fixed on her hands. " I am terrified of shots, the last time when I took one I drove the doctors insane and my dad had to hold me"
"Hey Ryo look at me" Ryo frowned raising her eyes. Taku'a face was only a few inches from here and his eyes were serious. "I am always here for you, okay?. Don't be afraid to say anything to me. I promise I won't tell anyone"
She nodded slightly. "Defiantly Taku-san". Faintly uncomfortable with being so close to him, She scooted away a bit. Taku's cheeks flushed and he backed away.
"Sorry If I was invading your privacy"
Ryo blinked. °"Privacy? no, not at all, its okay".
"My parents advices me to never invade girls privacy since I was 13"
Ryo laughed quietly and she had a feeling that Mr and had talked to Taku about.
"Hey Ryo, You know tommorow I wil be there for your shots?.
Her cheeks warmed again. "Thanks Taku-san that means a lot to me."
Library
After her checkup Anna was in library doing her homework in such peace and quiet environment. No boys were in the library except Koyo, since they all are busy preping up for their check ups tommorow. She was working on math, which was hard for her, but she was able to pass with flying colors. All it took was extra time and hardwork. She always tried placing her focus on the work she did. She had to keep her honors grades up.
A small cup of tea was placed beside her, looking at if for a moment before seeing the person who placed it there.
"I thought of bringing you some caffeine to help you study." Koyo said with a small smile
"Thanks" Anna thanked Koyo, taking the tea and drinking out of it. "Hmmmm, Green tea with raspberry and green apple".
"You would be surprised how hard it was to get that stuff"
"You ordered it online, didn't you? Anna smirked as Koyo shrugged. "You're so sweet". She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Misawa-kun also let me borrow his microwave" Koyo said sitting his backpack on the floor next to him. He dug out his textbook and homework to study next to her.
"Wel aren't you lucky? I have to go all the way to the other side of campus, then go through annoying Taku-san to get a decent microwave".
Koyo laughed quietly, tryint not to disturb other girls in the library. He and Anna began focusing on their studies.
Next Day at hallway
After class was over Ryo decide to escape her vaccination and quickly head back to her dorm, hoping Taku wouldn't notice her but that didn't happen according to her plan.
"Hey Ryo! Shouldn't you be going to the nurses office?" Taku looked down at the girl quizzically. "Come let's go together"
"Uhh".. Ryo looked a bit nervous "Can you tell Ayukwa sensei that I am not feeling well today? I think I should get some rest"
Taku rolled his eyes, a out of character display of irritation. "Ryo you're not going to fool me. Come on, it''ll will take a second, I promise". He coaxed. °I will be with you"
Red mixed with green and Ryo sneakily got to her feet. "I hope you brought gloves, cause I'm going to be squeezing pretty tightly" She joked feebly. He smiled.
Thats the Ryo I know. Shall we go?
"I rather not"
"Too bad!" He grabbed her hand and forcefully yanked her towards the door. "Nurses office, here we come!"
"Taku!" She yelled, but he ignored her. She sighed and kept up with him, ignoring the blissful warmth that had begun to spread her body.
"I wish I hadn't told him about this" she muttered, her boots clicking on the floor.
"Did you say something?" Taku asked cheerfully
"No, not all all" she lied easily, slipping her hand out of Taku's "Lets go"
"That's the spirit"
She smiled tightly.
Ayukawa's office
Ryo is hesitant to go to Emi's office and Taku keeps on yanking and convincing her to come
"Ryo! chill your arm is not going to fall off, and Ayukawa sensei is not going to stab your viens"
"I am scared of getting pricked by needles"
"Com on! it's like a mosquito bite
Ryo couldn't think after that, because Taku'a lips comes closer to hers, and nothing else matters.
"Ryo-kun and Taku-kun"
They pulled away, both faces became red. Ayukawa looks more amused than angry. "I believe their is no PDA rules at Duel Academy"
Ryo turned pink
"However, I will pretend I didn't see this". She chuckled softly, inserting a syringe into a small vile. Ryo averted her eyes, her gaze on Taku'a hand, which was covering her piw. He squeezed her hand lightly, and when she met his gaze he smiled encouragingly.
"This will only take a second"... Ryo felt her skin being swabbed with alcohol and shivered at the sudden cold. "There, There". Ayukawa murmured, pinching the skin slightly. Ryo closed her eyes and buried her face in Taku's shoulder
She felt a small prick, and then another one, before the nurse proclaimed, "All done"
Taku nodded , grinning. "See I told you nothing happened, did it?
She stared at her arm in disbelief. There were two small red dots on the surface, and Emi covered them with band-aids. There seems full ache in her arm, but no intense pain.
"That's it?"
"That's it", Taku assured her. He suddenly turned red again. "And uh, Ryo about earlier I am sorry, chainsaw totally out of line. I should've... but you were just talking so much, and I"...
Ryo remained quiet for a while and her cheeks turned red again. "I-I will see you later Taku-san" . She finally muttered. Taku'snface fell slightly as Ryo continued, Why don't we have dinner together at Obelisk cafeteria". She offered him a small smile, which he returned.
"Sure! I am totally there!"
She nodded and began to leave, pausing for a moment at the door. "Good luck with the check up and hope you don't have to take any shots" She laughed softly.
He grinned a her. "No problem-If I do. I know I have the best friend to help me through"
"Best friends". Ryo agreed.
"Best friends... but maybe one day, something more."
Notes
Ryo was out of character for quite while, including Taku. This chap isn't Koyo centric one because I don't want him to be a Gary due like Judai. So today it is Ryo and Taku centric chapter. This chapter is shorter than the previous one.
