"You're asking to replace Slade for the tag duel?" Principal Samejima asked in disbelief, seated in the desk of his office with his hands folded
"Yes, please let me do it Principal." Taku stated his request clearly.
"If you don't mind me asking, just what makes you think like that? Surely as one of Koyo's close friend you trust his abilities as a duelist" Samejima asked curiously with interest as his brows furrowed.
"Of course I do. But Slade doesn't know how to respect his opponents, especially Koyo who he has personal grudge with, but he respects me, so I think he woul be able to work well with me." Taku practically pleaded.
Samejima sighed as he stood up from his chair and turned his head to look at the view before folding his arms on the back. "Taku, I appreciate your concern for your friends. But the reason why I choose them to pair together, is because this is the chance for Slade to work with someone he sees as beneath him, and they aren't what he thinks they're " He explained grimly.
"I see… You're looking out for what is good in them." Taku replied in understanding.
"That's right. I hate to put my students on such a high stake duels, but I am confident that they will win." Sheppard said confidently with a determined look.
"In that case, all I can do is trust in them as duelists by showing my support for them." Taku stated firmly with a smile on his face. He knew that Slade and Koyo are strong duelist, even if the former didn't show his attitude together and he is certain they can overcome the ordeal as long as they build a good partnership.
In the sidelines, Yuna hated this, despite not liking Slade she did feel bad for him and wouldn't forgive herself if he and Koyo were to get expelled because of her, but what she hated more was how Noro and the rest of the students wanted them to fail, by the sounds of them booing would suggest. She would have broken the chairs in front of her by just gripping them, but then she heard a familiar voice.
"Do you mind if I sit here, Yuna?" she turned around and to see the Ra Yellow brainiac himself, Daichi Misawa. He looked like one of those only ones that didn't want them to fail and seemed like a really nice guy. She shook her head, making it known to him that she didn't mind him sitting beside her. He sat down, "Thank you."
From the corners of Misawa's eyes as soon as he sat down he saw a familiar body, near both of them, "Do you have room for one more?" Both of them turned around to see Anna with a worried face, "I want to see the duel with you guys and Ryo and Ran have been killing me lately, so do you?" Both of them looked at each other, before nodding at the same time. "Thank you." she said as she sat down.
"So are you two worried for them?" asked Misawa as he glanced at both of them, wondering for their answer.
Yuna sighed, "Of course I am. I am the reason why they are in this mess in the first place."
Anna looked at the Obelisk Blue, "I heard that Noro of all people, is organizing this event, so you know that this will be tough for both of them."
Misawa saw what she was about to say from Yuna, so he decided to stop their arguing, "Look, I know you two are riled up about all of this, but nothing can stop this. I hate to say this, but fate is on their hands."
The duelists stopped what they wanted to say and realized that they can not change this and have to accept this, but all three of them hated this.
As the stands began to filled up, Ryo was struggling to find a place to sit. After a few more minutes of searching, she finally opted to stand on the railed balcony above the stands. As, she saw that Taku was also looking focused at the duel arena below, his hands gripped firmly on the railing.
"I know you would be here because this is a perfect place for observation " Ryo greeted Taku with a smile as she was standing beside him, making the Sophomore blush.
"I am glad you don't find me as a distraction". Taku replied sheepishly with a blush before his face became serious as he gave a concern glare, " we both are curious about the outcome of this duel, I hope I was able to get through Slade to become cooperative, because he and Koyo really need to word together if they really want to win this duel." Taku explained worriedly.
"Then perhaps this duel might help them to forget their difference and is a step to bring them closer." Ryo gave her idea thoughtfully.
"I hope you're right… but all we can do is wait and see." Taku agreed.
"You're right!" The duo turned to see Midori approaching them who is no longer dressed in bandage and appears to recover from her injury, "Whoever their opponents are even if it's someone like Marik, Bakura or Kaiba, I just hope Koyo and Slade are able to get through it,." Making both the students nodd in agreement.
Even Chumley was there for the duel, and that was a shock to most people. Chumley didn't want to see his friends expelled.
Koyo and Slade arrived on the arena with a determined look to win this, but Noro didn't care what they were feeling as he continued announcing, "And on the other corner we have their challengers! They are known as the best tag team duelists ever, the duelists that shook the playing field with their combos, the duelists that have way too much spunk, as they like to say, and they have glory and to much grace when they duel, they are the legendary Joey Wheeler and his wife or shall I say My Valentine!"
Most people sweatdropped at the long introduction, but then they realized that he was most likely reading on what the duelists wrote for their introduction. Then they realized who they were fighting and the crowd went wild as the two legend couple went ahead and showed themselves.
One looked like the younger of the couple, short dirty blonde hair and light hazel eyes and appears to be in his mid-twenties. The suit he was wearing was a light white suit and white jeans. He was waving to all of the students who were watching with enthusiasm.
Taku turned into a fan boy mood when he saw the guy.
The other one looked like the older couple, had long blonde hair, down to her shoulders with dark purple eyes and appears to be a woman in her early 30ties. The suit she was wearing looked much like model rather than the suit that her husband wore, but the suit itself was tube top exposing her midriff and she also wore black stockings, silver earrings and red lipstick. She waved at the students with way less enthusiasm than her husband showing that she was the mature one.
Slade gulped, nervous that of all the teams he could have dueled, it was the best tag team in the world and that he was dueling, in his opinion, not just a regular pro duelist, but a couple who are praised as legendary duelists who took part in battle city. Koyo on the other hand, "Woah! I have heard about you two, the best duelists who remain as legends in battle city history.I always wanted to duel you two!"
The Mai scoffed, "Do you hear that Joey? He said he wanted to duel us, want to go all out?" She looked at her husband, who now was known as Joey Wheeler.
"I heard that, Mai Let's show these two that they shouldn't mess with the best!" Joey said he and his wife, now known as Mai, took their duel disks and their decks.
Both Koyo and Slade returned the favour as they took out their duel disk and deck. Noro. looked at the two tag teams, "Are the tag teams ready?" All four of them nodded their heads, "Well let the duel begin!" He said as he ran down the stage and peeked his head to see the duel.
Duel
Turn 1 Mai
"Ladies first," Mai declared, "I'll be summoning the Amazoness Fighter!" A muscular tanned woman appeared in front of Mai clad in a two-piece swimsuit-like attire made of fur (ATK 1500). "Next I'll be activating my Amazoness Call spell card. Thanks to this, I can pick an Amazoness card from my deck and add it to my hand…so I'll pick the Amazoness Village and then I'll activate it." A card slid out of Mai's deck which she quickly seized and slid into her Duel Disk, causing that familiar village of wooden huts with straw roofs to appear around the pair. "This card not only powers up my Amazons, but if you should happen to destroy one then I get to summon another one with the same level or lower from my deck." A firey glow surrounded the Amazoness Fighter as she launched a couple of practice punches in the air (ATK 1500 - 1700). "I'll set a card face down and pass it to you, one of you" A face down card appeared behind the Amazoness Fighter.
Turn 2 Koyo
"Its my move" Koyo declared, "And to start things off, I'm summoning the Elemental HERO Stratos!" The blue clad HERO descended onto the field, the mechanical rotors of his wings blowing a small gale across the arena (ATK 1800). "And now I get to activate his effect; whenever Elemental HERO Stratos is summoned I can add another HERO monster from my deck to my hand!" A card slid out of Koyo's deck, which he quickly added to his hand.
Joey whistled, "Pretty impressive, right Mai?"
Mai nodded her head, "Yeah, but let's be honest, his Hero will be a chew toy for our monster."
"Oh yeah! Well how about this!" Koyo announced as he pointed at Startos, "Go! Attack Fighter!" He didn't hear Misawa trying to stop him, but it was too late.
Startos leaped forward to his new opponent. But Mai activated her set card, "What a bother, I activate the Trap Card, Zero Gazer! When you attack my monster, my monster loses all of their attack points! Sorry, gal!" The amazoness dropped to her knees (ATK: 1500 - 0.), but that didn't stop Startos.
As soon as he landed in front of the amazoness, his right fist delivered a mighty and full heat hook, destroying the monster with one blow.
Before Koyo could stroke his own ego, he realized he missed something and looked at the couple. "Hey, wait. Why aren't your life points dropped? Is it the effect of your Fighter?"
Mai smirked, "Well you are half right, maybe you might have a brain after all. Fighter's effect is that we take no battle damage from the attack.." Koyo, Slade and the audience's eyes widened at the effect, while Noro nodded with a grin on his face.
In the sidelines
"That looked like it didn't hurt." commented Anna.
Misawa leaned in with his hands on his chin, "That's what I wanted to warn them about, the Amazoness archetype has a deadly Battle Phase effect. In fact the Battle Phase is their specialty."
"I guess they have to do this the hard way I guess," Yuna said.
Turn 3 Joey
"Its my turn," Joey stated, "I'll begin with my Black Dragon's Chick!" A small, black dragon emerging from an egg appeared in front of Joey (ATK 800). "My Chick's about to hit a growth spurt. I can tribute it to Special Summon the fully grown Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my hand." The chick was enveloped by a bright light, its form growing as it's egg shattered, shaping into the thin, bipedal black dragon with red eyes (ATK 2400). "Next, I'll use one of my favorites: Inferno Fire Blast!" A massive Fireball gathered within the maw of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. "Now, you're going to be taking damage equal to my Red-Eyes attack points, in exchange for my dragon not being able to attack this turn. But since it's my first turn, that's not an issue." The Dragon roared, unleashing the Fireball towards Koyo and Slade, the projectile detonating and causing them to slide back a full meter, their LP dropping to 5400. "Then I'll set this card and let you go." A face down card appeared behind Joey's monster.
The crowd were stunned when they saw Joey's ace.
Turn 4 Slade
"It's my move then, I draw!" Slade exclaimed, drawing his next card…and chuckling, "Looks like my deck is already raring to go." He continued to chuckle as he slid a card into one of his Duel Disk's spell slots. "I'll start off with the Spell Card known as Shield and Sword!" Joey groaned. "This card reverses the attack and defence of every monster on the field." The image of Red-Eyes seemed to glitch out for a second before normalising (ATK 2400 - 200). "Next I'll summon my Spear Dragon!" A two legged, Pteranodon-like Dragon appeared, it's nose ending in a long, sharp, straight beak (ATK 1900). "Battle! Spear Dragon attacks Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" The Dragon took to the air before diving down in a vicious arc, impaling Red-Eyes upon its beak, the Dragon vanishing as it resumed its position in front of Slade. Joey and Mai groaned their LP dropping to 6100.
Turn 5 Mai
"Not bad, you two," Mai cooed, drawing her next card, "But the true battle has only just begun!" She looked at the card she drew…and gasped. Bass! She looked at Koyo. So…you want a piece of this kid, huh? "I summon Amazoness Tiger!" Mai stated, an instant later causing the appearance Bass, now clad in golden spike cuffs and a matching collar (ATK 1100 - 1300). "My Tiger is about as ferocious as they come," Mai continued, "And fiercely protective to boot. Not only can you not attack any monster other than my Tiger but it gains 400 attack for every Amazoness monster on the field." Bass roared as an orange glow surrounded it (ATK 1300 - 2100). "Battle! Amazoness Tiger attacks Stratos!" Bass leaped into the air, sinking its claws and teeth into Stratos befote ripping a panel off the warrior, causing it to detonate. The tiger then flew through the air before landing on its feet in front of Mai. "Now my Amazoness Fighter attacks you directly!" Koyo braced himself an instant before the Amazoness launched a powerful punch that knocked him to the ground, his LP dropping to 3300. "I think I'll end my turn there." Mai declared.
In the sidelines
"My god, how long is her turn gonna go on for?" asked Yuna as she looked over towards Misawa and Anna, who both had worried faces.
"Judging by the amount of resources they still have, I say a couple of more turns." Misawa said as he bit his lip.
"I just can't stand this. They are using Legendary Duelists against them, like they want them to lose." Anna voiced her opinion.
"But I know that they can do this." The Yuna hoped.
"Do you think that your little brother can win this duel, Hibiki-sensei?" Taku looked towards Midori as the Teacher glanced at him. "If he knows how to think wisely, then of course."
Turn 6 Koyo
"Impressive move," Koyo remarked, "But now I activate Hero Signal!" Koyo's set card flipped up. "Since you destroyed my Stratos, I'm allowed to summon a new HERO from my deck…and I pick the Elemental HERO Woodsman!" A muscular man with and arm and leg akin to trees appeared in front of Koyo, kneeling down with his arms folded (DEF 2000). As it appeared, Amazoness Tiger seemed to crouch down itself, the tiger bending in front of it (DEF 0). "I see…that Amazoness of yours packs a wallop but it has to go to defence every time it attacks…"
"Alright, here I go!" Koyo declared, drawing his next card, "Since it's my stand-by phase, Elemental HERO Woodsman lets me add a Polymerization spell from my deck to my hand!" One more card slid out of Koyo's deck, the Ra quickly grabbing it…and sliding it into his Duel Disk's spell slot. "…and what better time than now to activate it!" The Red-Blue Spiral of Fusion appeared above Koyo's head. "I fuse the Elemental HERO Voltic and Elemental HERO Ice Edge to summon…" The images of two HERO monsters appeared; the first was a man in blue and silver armor with lightning like adornments while the other was a smaller hero in a blue suit with white armored shoulder pads akin to icicles. In the next moment, they were pulled up into the spiral. "…Elemental HERO Sunrise!" A beam of light shone forth from the spiral as the familiar red-clad hero descended, his cape billowing behind him (ATK 2500). "Now I get to activate Sunrise's effect; I can add a Miracle Fusion from my hand to my deck!" Another card slid out of Koyo's deck which he added to his hand…
"Not so fast," Joey retorted, his set card flipping up, "I activate Birthright! This trap card lets me revive a Normal Monster from my graveyard…like the Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" From a pillar of flames, the Black Dragon rose again.
Koyo smirked. "I'm not stopping my attack," Koyo stated, "Destroy that Dragon, Sunrise!" Sunrise punched the Black Dragon, the creature exploding once again, only now Sunrise was consumed in the explosion. Koyo chuckled. "I'll set two cards face down and end my turn." Two cards appeared behind Koyo's monster.
Turn 7 Joey
"Then it's my turn," Joey stated, drawing his next card…and grinning, "And I'm ending this Duel right now. I activate Red-Eyes Fusion!" he roared, a red and black spiral of fusion appearing above the field. "I send a Red-Eyes Black Dragon and a Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact from my deck to the graveyard." Two cards slid out of Joey's graveyard. "This will let me summon a monster that will finish you-"
"In that instant, I activate my trap card!" Slade interrupted, Joey gasping as one of Slade's set cards flipped up, "I use Raigeki Break!" Lightning danced around the card in front of Slade. "With this card, I can discard one card to destroy one card on your field…so I'm destroying Amazoness Tiger!" A bolt of lightning shot forth from the card, striking Tiger and causing the Amazoness to detonate as Slade slid a card into his graveyard. "Then I'll activate a second set card, Jar of Greed, to draw one more card." Slade drew a card from his deck.
Damn, he's just as good as I thought he'd be…no, he's better. Joey looked at his hand.
"I will set two cards face down and end my turn". Two set cards appeared behind his monster
Turn 8 Slade
Slade looked at his hand, closed his eyes and drew his next card…and then smiled. "I activate Card Destruction!" Slade announced, sliding the spell into his Duel Disk, "This card forces all four of us to discard our hands and then we both draw as many cards as we discarded…and we both have one." Joey, Mai, and Koyo nodded, all four duelists sliding their last remaining cards into their graveyards and drawing one more from their decks. "…I end my turn." The crowd gasped as Joey and Mai looked confused.
Turn 9 Mai
What's going on here? Slade barely did anything in his turn. "It's my turn!" Mai declared, drawing her next card, "I'm going to equip my Amazoness Fighter with an Amazoness Heirloom!" A bejewelled, rotund statuette affixed to a rope appeared around the neck of the Amazoness Fighter as a red glow surrounded her. "Now, once per turn, my Fighter can't be destroyed by battle…and my Heirloom automatically destroys any monster she attacks. And what's more is this; my continuous spell Amazoness Fighting Spirit!" Mai slid another card into her Duel Disk as a golden aura surrounded both her tiger and her fighter. "Now whenever an Amazoness monster I control attacks a stronger monster they will gain 1000 attack points! And now…Battle! Amazoness Fighter attacks your Spear Dragon!" The fighter leaped into the air, fist raised, ready to strike
In the sideline
"If that attack goes through, they will almost lose all of their life points!" yelled out Misawa.
"No! They have to stop this!" yelled Yuna as Anna saw this in horror
Midori looked over to her younger brother and saw how close her right hand is to his left hand while holding a card, like he has something in his hand, a small smile appeared on her face.
…and in that instant, Slade smiled. "I activate my set card, Necro Fusion!" Slade announced, his set card flipping up, "With this card, I can fusion summon using monsters in my graveyard!" Mai gasped in realisation. "Looks like you've caught on." A Blue-Purple fusion spiral appeared above Slase "From my graveyard, I fuse the Armed Dragon Level 10 with the Chthonian Emperor Dragon to create my newest, greatest monster!" Images of the two fierce dragons appeared in front of Slade before being pulled up into the spiral. "I fusion summon….Chthonian Armed Dragon!" A pillar flames erupted from the spiral as a hulking red dragon with black scales running along its back landed on the arena. It seemed to wear spiked metal armor with noted claws on the ends of its wings (ATK 3300).
Mai smiled "You're not a bad duelist" she mused, "Too bad I gotta slay it! I set one card face down…" Mai then pointed at the Chthonian Armed Dragon. "Battle! Amazoness Fighter attacks Chthonian Armed Dragon!" The Amazoness leaped up into the air, her right fist leading, colliding with the dragon's jaw. "Not bad…but not good enough! I activate Flash Fusion!" She added, a paler red and blue spiral of fusion appearing above the field. "This Quick-Play spell lets me fuse monsters on my field…though their combined form is destroyed in the End Phase. So I fuse the set Amazoness Fighter and Amazoness Tiger…" The cards were pulled up into the spiral. "…and I Fusion Summon Amazoness Pet Liger!" From the spiral leaped a creature akin to a Tiger, though with a lion-like man and tail, wearing armored shoulder plates (ATK 2500 - 2700). "And now our battle continues as my Liger attacks your Chthonian Armed Dragon! And thanks to my Amazoness Fighting Spirit, it gains 1000 Attack Points!" A yellow glow surrounded the Liger as it roared and leaped into the air (ATK 2700 - 3700). "And then I'm using my Liger's effect to have it gain 500 more attack!" The glow intensified (ATK 3700 - 4200) before it crashed down on Chthonian and it's claws ripping through the reinforced armor of the mighty machine Dragon. Chthonian exploded, sending Slade flying backwards to the edge of the arena, his and Koyo's LP dropping to 900. "With that I end my turn. And since I do, my Liger gets destroyed." The Liger roared on last time before vanishing into a stream of particles that sank into the earth. "…but now my Amazoness Village lets me summon another Amazoness from my deck…so I summon Amazoness Queen!" A tall, muscular woman with dark skin and blue hair, brandishing a large, serrated blade with a curved guard appeared, sitting on a throne (ATK 2400 - 2600). "And as long as my Queen stands, Amazoness monsters can't be destroyed by battle."
Slade stood back up, puffing and panting before glaring at the Amazoness Queen. He then looked at Koyo, gesturingt that he entrust everything to him, making the Ra nod with a determined look on his face.
Turn 10 Koyo
"Well it's a good thing I've got this then!" Koyo rebutted, "I activate A Hero Emerges!" One of Koyo's other set cards flipped up. "Now you get to pick a card in my hand and if it's a monster, I get to special summon it!" Koyo smiled. "And if it isn't…well, I guess you win the duel. So take your pick, Mai."
Mai growled before pointing the leftmost card in Koyo's hand. "That one!"
…to this Koyo smiled. "I appreciate it…cause you picked Elemental HERO Bladedge!" A golden armored figure with a horned helm and blades protruding from its elbows appeared in front of Koyo (DEF 1800). The figure crouched down as the Queen's sword collided with it, the HERO exploding as Koyo grunted again.
Mai exhaled. "Not bad, Koyo" she complimented, "You survived this turn, but we both know you won't last through another one."
Koyo…nodded in silent agreement. "You're right…since you've got that Amazoness Queen, I won't last through another one of your turns," Koyo stated…before smiling, "So I'll just have to beat you in this one! I draw!" Koyo looked at the card he drew…and grinned."First up, I'm activating Skyscraper!" The Amazoness Village field spell crumbles into glass, causing a night sky formed overhead as tall buildings rose up around the four duelists. "Next, I'm activating another Polymerization!" The Red-Blue Spiral of fusion filled up the night sky. "So I'll fuse the Voltic and Ice Edge in my hand one more time…to summon Elemental HERO Absolute Zero!" Voltic and Ice Edge appeared in front of Koyo again before rising up into the spiral…moments later, the white clad figure of Absolute Zero descending from it, the ground beneath him freezing solid as his cape billowed behind him on a cold gust (ATK 2500). "Battle!" Koyo declared, "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero attacks Amazoness Queen!" The crowd gasped as the Hero placed his hands upon the ground, a large series if icicles rising from a flowing path of ice in front of him towards the Amazoness.
In the sideline
"But why?!" Taku exclaimed, "Koyo's monster is weaker that Mai's! If he attacks, he'll lose."
Ryo chuckled. "No, he'll win she replied, the blonde looking at her, "Skyscraper is a field spell that gives Elemental HERO monsters 1000 extra attack points as long as they start the battle weaker than their opponent." Taku looked back to the field and sure enough a blue-white aura shrouded Absolute Zero (ATK 2500 - 3500). The icicles rose until they impaled Amazoness Queen in three places, the beast yelping before exploding, Mai and Joey's LP dropping to 2600 as the aura around Absolute Zero subsided (ATK 3500 - 2500).
"Not bad at all," Mai remarked…before a familiar pillar of flames erupted from the ground in front of Mai, "But you're forgetting my Amazoness Queen effect, it can't be destroyed by battle." From the pillar emerged the Amazoness Queen , slashing and ready for battle.
But Koyo's smile only widened at seeing it return. "Oh, I didn't forget," he responded, "But try not to oversell it; Amazoness Queen can only revive monsters with its effects once per turn." Mai winced a little. "And I've got a way to destroy it again…with this; De-Fusion!" Mai and Joey gasped. "With this, I can send any Fusion Monster back to the extra deck and summon it's components to the field if I've got them chilling in my graveyard. So I'm giving Absolute Zero a rest!" A light enveloped Absolute Zero before he was transformed into two orbs that reshaped into Elemental HERO Voltic (ATK 1000) and Ice Edge (ATK 800). "And because Absolute Zero has left the field, he's got one last surprise up his sleeve; He destroys all the monsters on your field!" A gale of cold air rushed over to Mai's field, instantly freezing the Amazoness Queen solid before reducing it to a fine white powder. "And now, Elemental HERO Voltic attacks you and Joey directly!" The lightning-wielding HERO leaped into the air, discharging arcs of electricity which collided with Mai and Joey, the legend Pro Duelist screamed as their LP emptied down to 0.
The crowd watching the match leaped to their feet, cheering and applauding as the images of the city and the monsters vanished. Ryo and Taku joined in the applause, as did Yuna, Anna and Misawa. Koyo looked up into the stands, seeing Midori nodding and applauding, making him smile at her in returnvand even Samejima, Chronos, Banner and Satyr were applauding them.
"Yes! We did it!" Koyo cheered as he gave a high five to Slade, which make the Obelisk to happily accept it after all they did it. As the crowd erupted into cheers, all he and Slade could do was smile at each other in happiness.
Joey and Mai walked over to Koyo and Slade to congratulate their victory.
"Well done, both of you. You defeated us through your effort and teamwork and even pulled off an amazing win. This is the defeat I would gracefully accept it." Mai congratulated the two duelists.
"Exactly! It wouldn't be worth it if you guys didn't cooperate. I am amazed to see you two were making progress, after all if you're taking part in tag duel, more than skills a good teamwork plays a gravity role when it comes to victory." Joey chimed in.
"Thanks, both of you. It means a lot to hear that from you. And I was able to cooperate and what its like working in a team, after seeing how united you two were." Slade said gratefully.
"You both were amazing and it was a dream come true to duel you both one day". Koyo complimented
"I hope that we'll have a chance to duel each other again someday." Joey added with a smile. With that, all four of them shook hands and gave fist bump.
Up on the rails Taku looked down at the scene below and smiled gently. It looks like Principal was right. This was just what Slade needed to start opening his eyes and start opening up to other. I had a feeling Koyo would be able to help him mellow out. He thought to himself.
Noro was sulking in defeat as he left the Duel Arena and isn't happy that his plan to expell Koyo has backfired again.
After the duel as promised, both Koyo and Slade were spared from getting expelled and what changed a lot between the two of them was their relationship. While Slade still wants to defeat Koyo but he began to respect Koyo not only as a duelist but also as a person and a friend whom he can get along with and trust. He even apologised to Koyo for being a big jerk to him and Koyo being Koyo gladly forgave him and he even welcome Slade to hang out with the gang.
A week after the explosion duel the gang had their first-term exams and after a hectic week of exams, they realized that it was time. The time to finally leave this island, at least for 2 weeks for the winter break, so they can have some peace and quiet before a storm gets started, not wanting to worry about anything weird like a cult or something similar, or war, or something about their own destiny, or someone in their past that they forgot about. Like normal things.
Koyo, Misawa, Ryo, Anna, Yuna, Slade, Taku, Chumley and all the teachers went to their dorms, got their stuff in their backpacks and their luggage in the bags, walked towards the boats that were for the Seniors, as it was the biggest one, the Sophomores, as it was slightly smaller than the seniors, the Juniors, which was the 2nd smallest ones, the teachers, the same size as for the seniors, but in no way it was a tiny boat.
They all looked at each other and then gave them farewell as everyone went to each of their own boats and went inside of it. They then bid farewell to the school that was basically their home and war zone, Duel Academy and Academy Island goodbye for now at least.
Notes
After months of not updating the story I finally decide to come back and write. I had been dealing with writer block and life keeps getting busier. Koyo and Slade have finally became friends and the next chapter is going to be the tennis ep and after that I thought of referencing all the filler duels from into one chapter. I skip the monkey and the Jinzo ep because I feel they won't suit for Koyo.
