Hey, y'all! This is the rewritten version of the story! I will be putting my own family in here, mostly because I think it would be cool, just changing the names around. Please bear with me as I do have actual books to write as well. Love y'all!

* Yes, I know about the offensive review. I have reported it.

Chapter 6:

Nikki found a tree to sit under and look through the two bags she had grabbed. Her right leg was lying straight out in front of her, while her left leg was bent. Sticks and vines were holding her right leg in place. As Nikki dug through one of the bags, she pulled out an orange. "So, this is the food bag," she said. The orange went to her lap while she shut that bag and opened the second bag. Inside, she had a sleeping bag, a jacket, a water flask, and the knife that blew up the cornucopia. She pulled out the jacket just in case, and shut the bag. She sighed as she peeled and ate the orange. "What's going to happen now? I hope Peeta made it somewhere safe for the night." The juice from the orange soothed her throat a bit.

A sound had her look up just in time to see another girl walk around a tree. "Hey, I found the girl from twelve!" the other girl yelled.

Nikki shakily stood up, hoping that the other girl turned around so that she could grab her things and hobble away. The other girl saw the movement and threw something that embedded itself in her right thigh, just above her knee, and made Nikki yell out in pain. Nikki couldn't believe the pain she was in! Her blue-grey eyes looked up at the other girl as she tried to stay up on her feet. She could hear other tributes running towards them in the night… so she had to hurry. Taking a deep breath and holding it, she pulled out the knife. Letting out the breath in a whimper, she threw it in the other tribute's direction hoping that it would take out her arm. She bent down to grab her bags and saw from the corner of her eye that her knife had hit the girl's chest! Nikki's eyes widened as she pulled up her bags and straightened up. She couldn't believe that she had killed someone else! Voices reached her ears and Nikki quickly hobbled out of the area, hearing a cannon blast behind her. She had to get far away from there!

~~~ with Peeta ~~~
"Nikki!" Peeta called out, looking around the group he was in when no answer came. "See, I told you. She's either far away from here, or she doesn't trust me."
"Cato, why do we even keep him around?" whined the girl from his district. She looked down at the blond girl that Nikki killed. "Even this girl was more useful than he is."
Cato sighed. "We keep him around to search for all of the other tributes." He looked at Peeta with an evil look. "Her little crush on him will be here downfall," he said. The others laughed as Cato and Peeta locked eyes. "Peeta, find her."
Peeta rolled his eyes when no one was looking. He led them in a random direction, looking around the forest floor, as it got darker and darker around them.
~~~ with Haymitch ~~~

His eyes were glued to the screen as he watched his female tribute wash the knife wound in the river. His heart went out to her as he stood up, took a drink from his flask, and went to speak to the capitalists to see about getting her some medicine. Around him, he heard that Nikki was now digging something in front of a cave.

~~~ with Marielle and Tomas Swift ~~~
Marielle looked at her husband worriedly. They were being quiet because Addie was already in bed so that she could get to school on time the next day. "What do we do?" she asked Tomas.
He shook his head. "I don't know, love. You saw her leg when she landed. It broke."
"Yes, I know." Marielle looked down at her lap. She was sitting on the couch with her husband of twenty years. "I don't know what's happening now in the arena, but if… no when she gets home, we're going to have to help her heal somehow. If she loses the leg, then we'll have to get something for her to be able to move around easily. If she doesn't lose the leg, then she'll still need some physical therapy for movement." Her words were suddenly cut off with a kiss from her husband. "What was that for, Tomas," she asked.
"You were rambling," was his reply. "There's nothing you can do about the future now. We just have to hope that the capitalites give her some medicine to help her leg. Now, let's cuddle here for a bit to calm down and then let's go to bed. We both have a long day tomorrow." He was not looking forward to more coal dust.
~~~ With Nikki ~~~

'I have to make this wider,' she thought as she dug into the ground with her knife. The water was already rushing into the trench she was making, rolling around and disturbing the dirt. Well, trench was the wrong word… maybe stream would be better? It was a dug line about three inches deep and about an inch in width… She had already drawn a line to follow all the way into her shelter for the next few days, or however long this 'game' took, and back out to a different part of the river downstream. This way, she always had fresh, flowing, water to drink from. As Nikki worked to make the stream wider and longer with only moonlight guiding her way, she made sure to cover the stream path in rocks and leaves that already littered the ground. "This was oddly perfect," she said, thinking about how the land around her was already covered in everything she needed to hide her water source.

When she was done, she hid in the cave where she made the stream of water into a little pool to be able to dip both hands into it at the same time. This would do. She would be able to drink the fresh water as it flowed by. She would be hidden from the other tributes. Nikki only hoped that she had enough food. Otherwise, she was dead.

This story is coming along a lot better than before. :D Please review!
