A/N: I want to give a shoutout to FoxywiththeMoxy who also let me know about the issue with Chapter2, sorry about that!

Chapter 7 – Hospital... Again

The pretty grey wolf just stared at him with wide eyes for a second before repeating "Am I okay? You're the one bleeding!" She started toward him as she continued. "I'm a med student. Let me help you!"

Dylan had to admit it did hurt, a lot, but he was still running on an adrenaline high from his first ever real fight. He suddenly realized that the wolf still hadn't covered herself back up yet. He had a good view of her naked breasts. They weren't large, but they suited her. His face heated up as he realized he was staring.

Dylan let himself be grabbed and turned around. A few seconds later he felt pressure on his back where the cut was. It caused him to hiss again as the pain intensified, making him to arch his back.

"Be still!" She commanded "I'm trying to stop the bleeding and I can't do that if you keep moving around!"

Dylan did his best to comply. He could hear the sirens getting close when he cleared his throat and in a strained voice said "Ummm, the police will be here in a minute or so and, I'm sorry, but the last I saw you were missing your blouse."

The wolf's reply surprised him "Bother that! You're injured and my blouse is what I'm using to stop the bleeding, that's the most important thing at the moment. Although I do appreciate you looking out for my modesty. You're Dylan, right?"

That she knew his name didn't surprise Dylan at all. He figured most mammals at least knew of him, he did have a rather spectacular entrance to say the least. He'd even been interviewed by Fabienne Growley, the news ancor on ZNN.

oooOOOooo

Dylan sat in a comfortable chair across from a very pretty snow leopard in her own identical chair. A small, round coffee table sat in the center between them. The staff had asked Dylan his favorite drink and, while he did like sodas, he much prefered tea.

While the tea in this world wasn't quite the same as on Earth, it was very close. So the aroma of a very passable Earl Grey tea could be smelled wafting from the tea pot that was sitting on a heating pad on the table. Dylan guessed that they were going for a 'casual' interview. Although casual didn't include his clothes since he was dressed, at their request, in one of his few suits.

Fabienne was introduced to Dylan and they shook hands, paws, whatever. She gave him an overview of what they would be doing, told him to relax and just pretend it was the two of them talking. Staff had come out and fit them with their microphones. All too soon Dylan heard "On Air in ten... three, two..."

Fabienne smiled, crossing her paws in her lap, and faced the camera "Good evening my fellow Zootopians. I'm here tonight with our latest citizen, Dylan Ambrose." She turned to face him "Mr. Ambrose, thank you for agreeing to this interview. I know there are many here in Zootopia that would like to know more about you."

She fell silent for a moment and Dylan picked up on his cue "It's a pleasure to be here! Please, call me Dylan."

"Then Fabienne please Dylan" she said smiling. To Dylan it seemed to be a genuine smile and made him relax a little. "Well Dylan, could you tell us a little about how you arrived in our wonderful city?"

Dylan sighed internally. He'd answered that question so many times in the last several months that he could do it in his sleep. Dylan tried to answer with enthusiasm and he hoped he was able to pull it off. He went on to describe his side of his arrival. Then he answered other questions that probed into his background and his life back on Earth.

Fabienne kept a straight face when she asked a question that caught Dylan off guard. "So, Dylan. I understand from some reliable sources that you've received a few marriage offers. Are there wedding bells in your future?" By now she had a huge grin.

Dylan was momentarily stunned 'how did they find out about those letters?'

However, he was able to quickly recover. "Well, yes I've received some letters from several ladies asking about that but I have to say, as flattered as I am, I'm not ready for that big of a step. I'm still getting used to being here in this amazing city. I did reply and let the ladies in question know how I felt. So, no Fabienne, no wedding bells yet."

The interview went on, a few questions touching on his, near furless, appearance and that, yes, it was normal for members of his species. He did inform them that there were rare cases, those that had a condtion called Hypertrichosis, that would cause them to grow hair over a majority of their body.

She also brought up his music. Dylan explained that his dream had always been in computers, but he may continue his music as a hobby. When asked if he was going to try and dethrone Gazelle, he mentioned how Gazelle was a beautiful, talented singer and that his main genre of music was country, country rock, bluegrass, and maybe a little rock and pop thrown in for variety.

After the interview Fabienne thanked him and shook his hand again, this time he felt something there before she curled his hand closed with her other paw. He put it into his pocket as the continued talking, part of his mind wondering what it was that she passed him, as the crew unhooked their mics.

When he had the chance to look in his pocket later he pulled the crumpled paper out and smoothed it out. Inside was a series numbers that looked suspiciously like a phone number.

oooOOOooo

Dylan nodded "Yeah."

"I saw your interview with Fabienne. I'm Zoe, Zoe Loper."

"Well Ms. Loper, it's a pleasure to meet you but, better circumstances, ya know?" Dylan grunted. His back didn't feel like it was on fire anymore, but it was aching something fierce.

"Agreed. And call me Zoe, it's the least I can do for the mammal that saved me from rape."

"Call me Dylan, and you did a pretty good job of saving yourself when you bit that one hyena. And, you're helping me now so..."

The sirens were very close. Seconds later a patrol car pulled up. It was the tiger and hippo duo from that one averted encounter. Dylan knew both after being introduced by Nick and Judy.

"Dylan" Officer Fangmeyer stated as he looked around. His partner, Officer Higgens was on the radio calling for multiple ambulances. "I just wanted to know why you didn't invite us to the party?"

"You've been hanging around with Nick too long Fangmeyer. This was an impromptu party with the lady behind me, Ms. Zoe Loper, being the unwilling entertainment. I decided to crash the party." Dylan answered, his voice strained from the pain he was in, still heard a light snort from behind him. "Could you get a shirt or something for her? The leader had torn her blouse and she's using it to stop my bleeding."

Officer Fangmeyer looked sheepish as he nodded, turned, and headed back to his partol car.

Meanwhile, Officer Higgens had been looking over the two gang members that was still unconcious, placing cuffs on both. "Look like members of the Happy Slayers to me. This isn't their usual territory."

Fangmeyer had returned with a small blanket that was kept in the back for victims of accidents or assaults such as this. He looked away as he handed it toward Zoe.

"You! Fangmeyer!" Zoe snapped out. "Drop the blanket and continue pressing my blouse against Dylan's back. It's deep just under his shoulder blade."

Fangmeyer did as requested while Zoe grabbed the blanket and drapped it over herself while still allowing her arms the freedom to take over from the tiger cop.

Fangmeyer and Higgens went around the area preserving evidence as several ambulances pulled up in front of the alley. One pair, a male ocelot and a female pronghorn, came over to Dylan and Zoe. The ocelot, whose name turned out to be Carl, praised Zoe for her efforts and replaced the torn, bloody, blouse with sterile pads and surgical tape.

While Carl bandaged Dylan, the pronghorn, Elise, was checking over Zoe who, aside from a minor puncture on her side where the knife had nicked her, was in good health.

"Okay Dylan" Carl said, "we're going to need to take you to the hospital, unfortunately you're going to need stitches as a minimum. Maybe some minor surgery, we'll find out when we get there."

Mammals from two other ambulances placed the still unconcious hyenas in their rigs and strapped them in. When another patrol car showed up, this one with a rhino and a lion, they followed the ambulances to Zootopia General.

Fangmeyer walked up to where Wade was escorting Dylan to the ambulance. "Dylan, We're going to take Ms. Loper to her apartment, but we'll be by later to get a statement from you okay?"

Dylan started to shrug, but winced when it pulled on his injury. He grunted from the pain but was able to answer "Sure, no problem."

They were interrupted when Zoe came over, and kissed him on his cheek. Surprised, Dylan looked at her, his mouth hanging open. "What? Shouldn't a lady always reward the hero?" She said, smirking as she turned away and allowed Officer Higgens to help her into the back of the patrol car.

Dylan heard Fangmeyer chortling as he let Wade help him into the back of the ambulance. While he would rather sit, Wade informed him that policy stated that he had to be in a gurney for his safety. So, slowly and with quite a bit of pain, Dylan was able to lay flat on his stomach. Wade put the straps over his ankles and his thighs, leaving his torso alone due to the injury. As soon as that was done, Elise turned on the siren and lights and was off to the hospital.

The ride seemed much longer that it should have been, given the relative distance from the alley to where Zootopia General was. But Dylan figured that it was just because of the pain in his back. It had become more generalized with the cut itself still feeling like it was on fire. The sooner he got to the hospital, the sooner he could get some pain killers to help.

As if in answer to his prayers, the ambulance arrived at the hospital and Dylan was wheeled into the emergency room. At least this time I'm concious. He was wheeled into a room and the paramedics unstrapped him and transferred him to the bed. Seconds later he heard a voice he recognized.

"Now what... Dylan?! What did you do?" Stacy, his nurse friend asked, her voice getting a little shrill.

Feeling better now that there was someone he knew he answered "Well, you know, defeating a dragon to save the princess." He chuckled. Wrong thing to do, it hurt.

"You did what?" Stacy said.

"Fought some gang members that were trying to rape a lady." Dylan replyed honestly.

"Well" Stacy said in a resigned tone of voice "if you're going to get hurt that would be a good reason to do so. But don't make a habit of it, I don't like seeing anyone get hurt, especially friends."

They were interrupted when a black eyed white ferret scrambled up the set of stairs placed on the side of the bed for when smaller mammals needed to tend larger ones. "Hello Mr. Ambrose. I'm Doctor Elle Minx. So tell me what happened here while I examine you okay?"

Dylan nodded as he felt the small mammal pad her way next to his back and start removing the bandages while he told his side of the story. By the time he had finished, the doctor had the bandages off and was examining his wound.

"It doesn't look like you'll need surgery Mr. Ambrose although you're going to require several stitches and you'll need to keep your arm in a sling for a week or two in order to keep from pulling on the stitches. We'll be able to use a local if that's okay."

Dylan nodded his assent so she turned to Stacy and ordered a local anesthetic and a suture kit.

Dylan was very happy when the anesthetic took effect. Doctor Minx was very good at her job as she quickly, and with minimal pain, had Dylan stitched up within thrity minutes.

As Stacy worked on his discharge papers she teasingly asked "So Dylan, this lady you rescued, was she cute?" She then looked at him out of the corner of her eye.

Dylan hesitated a few seconds, not from embarrasement, but actually considering how the wolf had looked. In his mind he could see her clearly. Her light grey fur and sky blue eyes. "Yeah, she was very pretty."

"Oh ho! Are you going to ask her out?"

"I would, but I'm already dating someone."

Stacy was very happy for her friend. She knew he would probably get lonely, which is why she called and chatted with him as often as her life would allow.

"Oh, anyone I know?" she asked Dylan curiously

"Probably. Our normal secrecy rule applies?"

Stacy nodded her affirmation so Dylan answered her "Fabienne Growly."

Stacy gasped "Fabienne? Wow! How'd that happen?"

"We shook after the interview, thanking each other for time given when she pushed a piece of paper in my paw. It was a number so I called the next day. She picked up and we started talking. We've been out twice, once to Outback Island."

Stacy handed him his paperwork and ruffled his hair as she said "So proud of you!" Causing Dylan to blush. It was at this point when Fangmeyer and Higgens walked in to get his statement. Stacy leaned down and kissed his cheek in farewell resulting in both Fangmeyer and Higgens to chortle.

oooOOOooo

Chief Bogo groaned as his phone started ringing. Opening a bleary eye, he saw that his clock was showing 1:45 a.m. This had better be important. I have to get up in a few more hours he thought as he reached for the irritatingly noisy device. Pressing the green accept button he answered "Chief Bogo".

The voice that responded could only be Clawhouser "Chief, you wanted to know any information dealing with that mammal, Dylan. Well, it seems that earlier tonight he was involved in an altercation with five members of the Happy Slayers gang in the alley by 4th street. And get this... he did it to rescue a wolf named Zoe Loper! Isn't that the most romantic thing you ever heard?" Here Ben sighed dreamily.

Bogo rolled his eyes as in his mind he could see the cheetah leaning forward with his elbows on the dispatch desk, his gigantic cheeks in his paws, a faraway look in his eyes, and a huge smile on his face. "First, is he okay? Second, what happened?"

"Oh, okay boss. He's at Zootopia General for a laceration on his back. According to the report, he was on his way home when he heard a scream. He used the handle from a mop and confronted four members of the gang about to rape Ms. Loper. Using the mop handle, he fought off the four, knocking two unconcious, when a fifth member snuck up behind him and cut him. The other three escaped, but we got a blood sample for the one that cut Dylan."

Bogo closed his eyes and rubbed the spot between them to head of the headache he was certain to form shortly. "I want that report on my desk before I get to work. I want hourly updates from the hospital on Dylan's condition, and I want a Sitrep from the Gang Task Force on all recent gang activity."

"Got it Boss!"

oooOOOooo

Stan was once again in his least favorite place, The Boss's office. Fortunately he didn't have a gun in his face this time. The Boss was reclined back in his chair, his paws clasped over his abdomen. He was in shadow from the shoulders up as usual.

"Report!" The Boss snapped.

Stan swallowed, trying to lubricate his suddenly dry throat. "Um, Yes sir! We just received a report from the Bloody Slayers. It seems that they were in the middle of procuring some unwilling entertainment when that mammal, Dylan Ambrose, showed up. Ambrose used a mop handle to fight them knocking two unconcious, including Gnasher. He injured the other three but they were able to get away."

The Boss growled. He slammed his right paw onto his desk, making the unlit lamp there fall over and the objects he had on the desk jump slightly. He didn't like this, not at all. This Ambrose could rally the people, give them hope. He couldn't have that. He needed the people to have no hope. His plan was to show how useless the police and City Hall would be in stopping him. He stared straight into Stan's eyes and his voice low with anger, said "I want Gnasher ended, tonight. He knows too much. As for this Ambrose, this... Furless Wonder, I want him done also."

"Belasarius again Boss?" Stan asked nervously.

"No. Belasarius would bring on too much attention to what I'm trying to do. Instead, spread the word to the Happy Slayers that the first one to kill that wretch will be allowed to lead the pack. It seems that Ambrose's death will be the result of gang revenge."

A/N: So, what do you think? Do I have enough drama? Feel free to review/favorite. When I see people actually doing that it makes me feel good and inspires me to write more. PM with any questions or suggestions.

Just a note about Hypertrichosis. It's an actual genetic disorder also known as 'werewolf syndrome'. The disorder causes excessive hair growth all over the body in both men and women.

Thanks to everyone for the great reviews! They're a balm for my soul! Now, I've had someone ask a question about shipping Dylan and Judy. That would be a no. I wanted Nick and Judy together (which I'm hoping for in Zootopia 2) and will keep them monogomous in this fic. I'm shipping Dylan with a different female Zootopian.

I have read some fics where both Nick and Judy are more polyamourous and have enjoyed those.
