Last time on Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic and his friends battled Snively in his rebuilt Egg Drillster mech, which came with a transformation and a barrier. Thanks to Tails' Chaos boosted foresight, they were able to beat him. But this was a trap laid out by Omelette, who stole the Chaos Emeralds from the heroes. Now armed with the Tornado, the trio pursue the Wing Fortress in order to stop Eggman and the Death Egg before it's too late…

Within the Wing Fortress, Eggman was drinking from his cup as he spoke to Omelette about her accomplishment in getting the last two Chaos Emeralds.

Eggman: "Excellent work, Omelette. You made Daddy very proud. And you made up for your loss on South Island to boot."

Omelette: "Thank you, Daddy~ And once we launch the Death Egg, it'll be good bye Mobius! Our plan is soon to be realized!"

Sage's hologram soon appears, coming to alert Eggman of something she detected.

Sage: "About that… I have detected a small craft following us and closing their distance towards us. Scanning the craft, I analyzed it as a biplane with a hedgehog, a chipmunk/squirrel hybrid, and a fox."

Sage then shows an image of Sonic, Sally, and Tails on the Tornado, rapidly closing in from behind.

Omelette: "What!? That blue pest is following us!? Does he not learn when to give up!?"

Eggman: "Relax, both of you. What sort of danger could those three pose?"

Sage: "While your calmness is reassuring, father, it would be best to take immediate action."

Eggman: "Who said I wasn't? I've come too far to be beaten by minor pests like those. Omelette!"

Omelette: "Yes, Papa?"

Eggman: "I think it's time for the Egg Hydra to have some fun."

Omelette is surprised at first before she smiles evilly, looking ready for some action… and much needed revenge.

In the skies, pursuing the Wing Fortress was the Tornado, which was dodging the predictable defense systems of the massive battleship.

Sonic: "Boy, this Eggman guy really doesn't want visitors!"

Sally: "Well sorry to say to him, but we've booked a visit to the doctor!"

Tails: "I'll try to get us closer, but these lasers are making it quite hard!"

Tails maneuvers the plane to dodge more incoming fire from the Wing Fortress defense system. As the Tornado dodges the attacks, Sonic and Sally see Badniks flying toward them. The duo immediately slice and dice the incoming robots, keeping them away from the Tornado.

Sally: "Everything steady, Tails!?"

Tails: "So far so good, your highness! I-"

Tails then sees a fast shadow move into the clouds. He only caught a glimpse, but it definitely came from the Wing Fortress.

Tails: "What was that!?"

Tails started getting a bad feeling as Sally and Sonic landed back on the Tornado after dealing with the Badniks. The Tornado's sensors went off, causing Tails to quickly move out of the way of a large fireball that could have taken down the plane.

Sonic: "Whoa, hey! What was that!?"

Sally: "Whatever it is, it's not friendly! Look!"

Sally points above them, the trio turning to see a large, mechanical, two headed dragon descend from above, flying after them. As Sonic scowled, the group hear a familiar voice taunt them.

Omelette: "Hey, pests! Guess who!? It's your sweet and delicate li'l Omelette here to show you… WHAT FRIED BIPLANE LOOKS LIKE!"

Sonic: "Omelette!? Oh you have got to be kidding!"

Tails tries to avoid the attacks from the dragon and the lasers from the Wing Fortress, but the efforts were putting strain on the Tornado.

Tails: "Sonic! We can't evade both of these things at once!"

Sally: "But if we don't catch up to the Wing Fortress, we may not be able to stop the Death Egg!"

Sonic wasn't sure what to do at this point. If they stop to fight Omelette, they could lose the Wing Fortress; but if they keep pursuing, there was a very real chance they'll be shot down, or worse. It was a lose-lose situation right now.

At Jenni's mansion, Jenni was watching the excitement from her monitor. Of course, she was looking only slightly worried for Sonic before Nicole appeared to chastise her.

Nicole: "Lady Jenni! We need to do something! Sonic's in real danger with that flying menace!"

Jenni: "Oh I'm aware."

Nicole: "So why aren't you doing something!?"

Jenni just wags her finger at Nicole.

Jenni: "You shouldn't raise your voice at me, Nicole. While things do look grim for Sonic, I'm not one to simply leave him high and dry."

Jenni pulls out three fingers before counting down. At one second, a worker bot of her's appears.

Worker Bot: "Good day, milady! The Vespa Queen is now certified for launch as you requested!"

Nicole: "Vespa Queen? You mean you knew something like this would happen?"

Jenni: "Not entirely, but I had a hunch. It's my brother after all. Now…"

Jenni pushes herself away from her computer before her chair situates itself in the middle of her room. A VR headset and controllers are pulled out from a shelf as the woman smiles.

Jenni: "...I think it's time for a family reunion. Nicole start uploading yourself into the Vespa Queen's main frame. And be ready to be my vanguard."

Nicole: "Oh… Uh… Of course, Lady Jenni…"

Nicole looked quite apologetic about her yelling earlier, not realizing what Jenni was planning in the background. She uploads herself into the computer of the Vespa Queen as sirens ring out across all of West Island. A pair of large hangar doors open as a tall, bee-like mech rises from beneath the surface of the island. Two long arms that ended in sharp claws, a pair of orange piercing eyes, and a hive that doubled as a dress for the lower half of the body. The eyes glowed to life as Jenni put on her VR headset.

Jenni: "Alright, Vespa Queen… LAUNCH!"

At that command, the large robot launches off the island, two buzzing wings carrying it as it sped after the Wing Fortress.

Back with the Tornado and its struggle between two much larger titans, Tails kept up the dodge game, trying his best to keep the Tornado steady, but the strain was starting to show.

Omelette: "What's wrong, twerps!? Can't handle the combined might of the Egg Hydra and the Wing Fortress!? That's what you get for messing with me, you blue freak!"

Tails: "S-Sonic! I'm sorry, but I can't keep this up!"

Sonic: "It's alright, Tails! We tried our best! We really did!"

Omelette smiled as she reeled back her mech's heads, her targeting systems locking onto the Tornado before getting ready to fire. As the heads lunged at the biplane, Omelette suddenly felt a very violent tug at the tail of her mech, causing her to feel herself getting thrown away.

Omelette: "WAAAAAH!?"

The trio of heroes look back and see a large bee mech hovering just under them, having thrown Omelette's Egg Hydra mech clear across the ocean and splashing into it. As they stood, looking confused, Jenni makes contact with the plane via radio.

Jenni: "Ah, there you are, kids. Hope you don't mind me dropping in."

Sonic: "Jen!? Was that you just now!?"

Jenni: "What? Were you perhaps expecting the Easter Bunny?"

Sally: "But I thought you couldn't fight because of your health condition."

Jenni: "I can't, obviously. But when it comes to operating mechs, that barely needs any grunt work. You leave this oversized lizard mech to me while you take down that Wing Fortress. Understand?"

Sonic smiles, feeling really lucky to have a babysitter like Jenni around. Communication breaks as Tails flies the Tornado above the Wing Fortress.

As Eggman was watching the Egg Hydra preparing to finish off their pests, he spits out his drink as he sees the large bee mech toss Omelette aside like she was nothing.

Eggman: "What!? Who is that!? And how dare they treat my beautiful Egg Hydra like that!"

Sage: "Father. Unauthorized message co-"

Sage suddenly vanishes as Jenni appears on Eggman's monitor, causing him to scowl.

Eggman: "You!?"

Jenni: "Hello, Ivo. Long time no see. I wish this was a much happier occasion, but… This is spite for all those years ago… Where you not only ruined the life I had, but tried to take the life of an innocent lynx."

Eggman: "I did no such thing! You ruined your own life by interfering with progression! I am merely helping in that progression!"

Jenni: "Keep telling yourself that. We both know the truth; you were always like this - a liar, a traitor, and a sociopath."

Eggman could only growl as intruder alert sirens started to blare out. Sage reappears as Eggman glares at his sister.

Eggman: "Sage! I order you to hack into Jenni's main frame and destroy her! NOW!"

Sage: "Y-Yes, father…"

Sage once again vanishes, though more voluntarily than when Jenni forced her out for a brief moment. Jenni, though, only smirked.

Jenni: "Boy, you do some dumb shit when you're desperate."

Eggman: "What do you- No… You knew I would try that!?"

Nicole's face appears as she crosses her arms, staring down at Eggman.

Nicole: "Never underestimate the power of a REAL doctor, you overweight wannabe."

Within cyberspace, as Sage was making her way to the Vespa Queen's main frame, detecting an access point from it to Jenni's island main frame. But she was immediately stopped by Nicole, who grabs her by her foot and tosses her to the cyberspace equivalent of a wall.

Sage: "Gh!? What!?"

Nicole: "Hi. You must be Eggman's personal assistant. The name's Nicole… And I'm here to kick you out."

Sage glares at Nicole as she gets up, summoning a black and red scythe while Nicole pulls out two white and blue cyber broadswords. The two stare each other down before launching at each other.

Back in the skies, the Egg Hydra comes back out of the ocean, Omelette glaring at the new intruder who had tossed her aside.

Omelette: "Hey! Who the hell are you!?"

Jenni: "Oh, I'm hurt. I figured you'd know your dear aunt. Since I know you, Omelette."

The Vespa Queen's claws start to extend and sharpen, glowing a hot white as the mech launches at the Egg Hydra. Omelette started firing a barrage of fire balls, but the bee mech simply slashes through them. One head is sliced off once the Vespa Queen is close enough. As Omelette tries to get away, a claw stabs itself into her mech's chest, keeping her close.

Omelette: "Ah! O-Okay! You win! U-Uh… You wouldn't hurt a little girl… Would you?"

Jenni: "No. I wouldn't…"

The Vespi Queen leans in very close to where the cockpit was, glaring at Omelette directly.

Jenni: "Do you see any?"

Omelette gulps really loudly as she suddenly feared for her life. The claw in the mechanized dragon's chest is removed as the Vespi Queen sliced off the other head, then made an 'X' slash at the body, tearing it to pieces as Omelette falls into the ocean, screaming as she makes a big splash.

Inside the Wing Fortress, Sonic and his friends start to tear through it. Aside from the Badniks that jumped out to intercept them, the ship was very light on security.

Tails: "Hey, Sonic! For a ship that was so guarded outside, the interior security is really slacking!"

Sally: "I have to agree. Is this more of Jenni's work?"

Sonic: "No doubt. And honestly, I'm not complaining. If we can push a victory here and now, all the better!"

The trio continue to push back on the Badniks, soon passing through the holding cells, which contained capsules for transporting Mobinis. But in one cell, the heroes find a shocking sight - the world leaders themselves.

Sonic: "Huh!? Mom!"

Sally: "'Mom'? Dad!?"

Aleena and Nigel perk up at the sound of their kids' voices and turn to see them, smiling happily.

Aleena: "Sonic! You're okay!"

Nigel: "And Sally! You did escape! Oh, I was worried about you."

Sonic: "Heh… Sorry for ditching y'all… Um…"

Sonic looks around before seeing Tails already pulling some wires to open the holding cells. The electrical bars deactivate, allowing the world leaders to come out, Aleena and Nigel immediately hugging their kids.

Aleena: "Sonic, you scared me half to death when you jumped out of the plane like that. Do NOT ever do that."

Sonic: "Um… Yes, ma'am…"

Angela: "Lovely reunion and all, but do you care if I state that we are still on a flying fortress en route to a possibly highly defended enemy base?"

A voice on the intercom soon rings out as everyone stares at the speaker in the corner.

Eggman: "Oh, I wouldn't worry about that, my dear. The Wing Fortress is lost, but I am not defeated yet! I still have the Chaos Emeralds and my Death Egg! While you have a vanishing ship."

They hear Eggman laugh to taunt them before a timer soon appears on a nearby screen.

Sally: "Oh you've got to be kidding me! Eggman's rigged the ship to explode!"

Sonic: "Sally, Tails! You guys lead the world leaders out of here!"

Aleena: "And where are you going!?"

Sonic: "To stop Eggman! Sorry, mom, but we've got no time to argue!"

Sonic speeds off to the exit of the room, leaving Aleena to look on with a bit of anger. Nigel then looks to her and nods.

Nigel: "He's right. We need to leave right away before we're sunk!"

Aleena looks back at Nigel before sighing, reluctantly leaving with the group towards the hangar to grab an escape ship.

Sonic makes it to Eggman's private hangar where he sees a ship getting ready for take off.

Sonic: "Oh no you don't, Eggman!"

He immediately rushes at the ship, jumping at it to grab the rail as it starts blasting off, taking him with it. In the distance, he sees a large vessel rise from the ocean, taking off into the stratosphere. As Sonic stares in awe at the actual size of the Death Egg, he sees a laser pointed directly at his face.

Sonic: "Uh oh… I think he noticed me…"

Sonic immediately lets go of the railing before hopping off the ship and aiming at a vent leading into the Death Egg. He smashes through the grate of the vent, narrowly avoiding a barrage fire of lasers aimed at him. He bounces through the vents before slamming out the other side, landing on a metallic floor.

Sonic: "Ow… Okay, not my most graceful of landings, but…"

Sonic looks around, finding himself within the Death Egg - in the heart of Eggman's territory. It was just him… and the big boss himself now.
