Since the zelda splatfest is my first in splatoon 3, I also made it Quartz's! Also my tumblr is cxlliefxn and my asks are open! I'd love fanfic-related questions but anything's good! Enjoy chapter 6!
"The hell are you doing?!" Quartz barked. Bay was holding his hand and taking him somewhere. Quartz didn't know where, nor could he see anything- He was blindfolded. "I already told you," laughed Bay. "I'm taking you somewhere!"
The past 2 days have been a bit rough for Quartz. A giant inkling delinquent destroyed his Reef-Lux 450, which left him with nothing, and you can't play turf war without a weapon. Quartz was also a bit lovesick, he met two wonderful boys and he can't decide who to go out with. In fact, Bay is one of them, but he doesn't really like to admit it.
"Here we are!" Bay stopped his friend and took the blindfold off. "Ta-da!" sang Kai as he held up the surprise. "We got you a new weapon. Do you like it?" smiled Bay. Quartz looked at the weapon Kai was holding a bit curiously. He hadn't seen anything like it before. "What is it?" he huffed, pretending to look unimpressed. Bay and Kai looked at Quartz as if he was stupid.
"You've never seen a mini splatling before?" asked Bay, holding in his laughter. Quartz began to touch the weapon, the materials felt just like something straight from Sheldon. "You wanna few lessons, Quartzy?" Bay smirked. "Fine." Quartz scoffed, blushing. Just like the other night, Kai and Bay took each of his hands and ran him to the lobby. "These guys sometimes." sighed Quartz.
They arrived at the lobby. "M'kay, so you gotta charge it up and then let go. Then a bunch of shots will go BANGBANGBANGBANG!" Kai explained. Quartz was still confused, but he charged it up, then a bunch of shots of ink fired out. "I see, but this is stupid." said Quartz.
"I don't think you'll be able to get another weapon in time for the Splatfest," said Bay, softly. "you'll just have to work with this one." But Quartz was more curious than angry. "What's a Splatfest?" he asked. His friends were shocked, and Bay refrained himself from laughing again. "You've never heard of a SPLATFEST?!" gasped Bay. "Well, I heard a story about dad playing turf wars to defend Callie's honor or something like that." Quartz replied. "Yeah! He must've been talking about the infamous Callie vs Marie splatfest!" exclaimed Bay. "It was a bit before our time though."
"Okay, so a splatfest is when you pick one of three teams, and there's a huge party in Splatsville with Deep Cut, and you play a bunch of special turf wars in hopes that your team wins!" Kai explained. "This fest is about the piece of the triforce you seek! Do you want power, wisdom or courage?"
Quartz thought for a moment. "Courage is a bit boring, and I think I already have it. Wisdom is lame, that's for nerds like Bay…" He thought. "I personally wanna go with team POWER! MUAHAHAHAHA!" cackled Kai. "Power is the only correct choice for hot cephalopods like us!" winked Bay. Quartz was still thinking. "Power…If I had more power, I could face Octavia without fearing defeat…" he thought. "Badass…" Quartz mumbled. "I'll join team power." he said.
The other two danced around in joy. Quartz sighed at their awful dancing. Bay and Kai were just so excited to have their crush on the team. They brought Quartz to the Splatfest terminal, where they ran into Ariel and Morgan. "Hey." Greeted Morgan. "What teams we going with?"
"Power!" answered Bay. "Not surprised." replied Morgan. "But I'm going on team courage!" This surprised her two male teammates. "MORGAN YOU'RE A TRAITOR!" cried Bay, in an exaggerated manner. "What made you choose that team?" asked Kai. "She." is all Morgan said as she directed their attention to Ariel, who was in the process of picking team courage. "Damn, we're one short!" sighed Bay. Celeste crashed onto them in octopus form, then got up and back into octoling form. "One short? Not on my watch!" Celeste exclaimed. "Was that a cool entrance?" she asked Quartz. "Work on your landing." Quartz replied, slightly embarrassed.
"Dad Ceru's on courage and dad Haru's on wisdom. Ember invited me to fight with Callie and Marie on power, but as your sister who's interested in your lovely little situation, I had to invite myself on your team." Celeste said, smirking at that last part. Quartz laughed awkwardly, but hid it from the others. "Who's this girl?" asked Kai. "She's Quartz's older sister." said Bay. "The name's Celeste Moon, it's nice to know that Quartz has a bright future with you!" exclaimed Celeste, who embarrassed Quartz even more. "Quit it." he muttered. "Sorry." she said, smiling nervously.
Celeste invited Quartz's friends over to their house, and Haru was aggressively holding his boyfriend back when they got there, the guests were told to just ignore that. "You know, Quartz has said a lot of good things about the two of you!" said Celeste as she opened the door to her room. "What do ya think?" Celeste asked, showing off her giant video game collection. Kai instantly began touching everything in the collection, asking a million questions about her games. "Your sister's cool," said Bay to Quartz. "I like that in a guy." The dark purple octoling hid his deep-red face. Bay just laughed as he began to talk to Celeste.
"His favorite color is purple and he likes to make anything he drinks bitter." said Celeste. "Then he complains about it, because the truth is, he actually really likes sweets but thinks they're-" Quartz tackled his sister to the ground, asking her to shut up in a polite but passive-aggressive manner. "You know Quartzy, my older sister sells cakes." Bay smirked. Quartz was on the floor from embarrassment. "Celeste, can we play the game with humans holding guns who are fighting over turf with their spit?" asked Bay. "No, that one's inappropriate for little 14 year olds!" Celeste replied. "SAY THAT AGAIN." growled the three boys, standing over her.
(technical difficulties-)
"Okay FINE, I GET IT, you're only two years younger than me!" Celeste groaned. "But tell that to our inkling father." she added, accidentally summoning said inkling father. "What are you doing in here?" Cerulean asked. "Did your friend bring drugs?" He asked in an angered tone, glaring at Bay. "You're new. Did YOU bring the drugs?" Cerulean asked Kai, who nervously shook his head. "No one brought drugs, you old man." Quartz said, rolling his eyes.
"Leave them alone!" Haru dragged him out of the room. "I'M GONNA KILL THE BOTH OF YOU IF MY NOSE PICKS UP THE SLIGHTEST SMELL OF WEED!" Cerulean shouted as Haru shook his head. Ember then waltzed in. "Where's the blunt?!" she asked genuinely. "Oh, and who are these lovely young boys?" Ember smirked. "Auntie, our guy's got game!" whispered Celeste. "YES!" Ember shouted as the two high-fived. "LET'S GO!"
"Why don't you trust those boys?" Haru asked Cerulean. The two were in his room. "That inkling has a cocky vibe surrounding him, and I'm gonna assume that octoling is the same." He explained. "Your older brother was like that too. What if he kept being protective of you without re-thinking it? I don't think we'd be together right now." Haru replied. Cerulean hugged his octoling boyfriend. "D-don't say that…" he whispered. "Then be kinder to Quartz's friends." said Haru. Cerulean nodded. "Good." smiled Haru, kissing him on the head.
The next evening, Quartz could faintly hear music when he woke up from a nap. Upon opening his window, he instantly recognized the voices– It's Deep Cut. The Splatfest is on, and he's probably running late for it! "WAKE UP LAZY ROCK!" Celeste shouted as she flung his door open. "WE'RE LATE!" The two rushed around the house, getting ready to meet Quartz's two friends.
"Fashionably late, we are." Celeste said, making her usual dramatic entrance. "You're not late?" Kai replied. "The splatfest doesn't start for another 20 seconds." The siblings fell to the ground, all that rushing for nothing. They were all wearing their splatfest tees, Quartz feeling a bit shy over wearing short sleeves. He still has quite a few scratches and scars on his arms, and still feels insecure about them even after Celeste used foundation to hide them for the evening. "HEY SPLATSVILLE!" shouted Frye. "The Power vs Wisdom vs Courage splatfest is officially ON!" she announced. Everyone began to scramble into the lobby.
Quartz was fascinated by the stalls, lights and music around him. He's heard about parties happening in Octo Canyon, but he was never allowed to go to any. The four saw Haru, Cerulean, Ember and the Squid Sisters running into the lobby. Cerulean looked pissed off, Ember was definitely joking around with him again. "Let's go kick some ass!" sang Bay as he began to skip to the lobby. "LET'S DESTROY THOSE BLUE N' GREEN IDIOTS!" Celeste cheered. Kai noticed that Quartz seemed nervous. "It's just for fun in the end." smiled the lavender octoling. "You'll be fine." Their first battle took place at Haggle fish Market.
Weapon lineup:
Quartz: Mini splatling
Bay: Splattershot
Kai: Krak-on splat roller
Celeste: Tri-stringer
They were facing team wisdom, who had the usual weapons you'd see on an enemy team, like an aerospray and N-zap. Liquid Sunshine began to play as the turf war began, and team power obnoxiously rushed to the middle of the stage. Bay pulled out the trizooka, and landed each shot, knocking out three of the four opponents. Celeste finished off the fourth with a well-timed shot. Wipeout!
It didn't take too long for team wisdom to come back and get their own wipeout. "Damn you." grumbled Quartz. The dark purple octoling blushed when Kai took his hand. "Don't give up!" said Kai, before him and Quartz super jumped together to the beakon he set up earlier. Bay was admittedly a bit jealous. Team wisdom seemed like they had complete control over the map. Quartz snuck into the center anyway, and he was quickly spotted by an enemy. "Shit!" In panic, he took out his ultra stamp and began to run with it, almost blindly. Celeste wondered what the hell he was doing.
Wipeout!
"QUARTZ! MY BRO!" Celeste cheered as she gave him a slap on the back. "WE'LL SHOW YOU THE POWER OF POWER!" shouted the purple octoling girl at team wisdom. Her and Kai rushed to the enemy base as Quartz and Bay painted the middle. Kai took out the two inklings on team wisdom with his kraken royale. Wisdom found themselves constantly having to dodge Celeste's explosive arrows (I think they're arrows?) while being slowed down in her toxic mist. To ensure their victory, Celeste went further back toward the end of the battle, and activated her killer wail 5.1 to get one last splat. "AND THAT'S THE POWER OF CELESTE MOON!"
The battle ended, and team power won it! "You hogged all the kills!" groaned Quartz to Celeste. "He did too!" she shot back, pointing at Kai. "No he didn't!" barked Quartz. "Quit it!" Kai intervened. "Do you two always fight like this?" he asked, slightly annoyed. The siblings nodded. Kai facepalmed. "That wipeout with the ultra stamp was pretty cool." said Bay to Quartz. "I guess it was." Quartz replied, a bit flustered. Bay kissed him on the cheek, causing the dark purple octoling's face to glow with blush. "DUMBASS!" Quartz shouted, giving the inkling a painful uppercut before running off, still blushing deeply.
"Did I do something wrong?" asked Bay, anxious. "Nah, he's just like that." Celeste answered, smirking a bit. "He only ran to that stall over there." Kai pointed out. Quartz was buying a box of cupcakes from a stand, and went to eat them at the nearest table. He thought that his team couldn't see him. As he began to eat, a hand touched his shoulder. "You got one you could share?" smirked Bay. "Cod, you're being annoying today!" Quartz shouted, rolling his eyes. He shoved the best looking cupcake into the inkling's mouth. Kai ran over. "Can I have one too?" he asked, wanting to join in on whatever was going on. "Sure." replied Quartz, who politely handed one over. Celeste didn't need a cupcake, Quartz being happy was good enough for her. She just took a picture of them, not realizing how much she's acting like Ember.
While the three boys were sitting at a table, an octoling snatched a cupcake straight from the box. "HEY!" shouted Quartz. "The hell is your problem?!" The octoling in question turned around, and just laughed. "SHIVER?!" gasped all three of them. "I was tired from all that singing." she smirked, before disappearing. "WAIT! SHIVER! I NEED A SELFIE WITH YOOOOOOU!" shouted Celeste, running down the street to catch her. Frye followed her, also stealing a cupcake from the boys. "SHIVERRR! WE HAVE TO PERFORM ANARCHY RAINBOW!" shouted Frye. "Guys! Stop stealing kids' food!" Big Man called out, he was also running after them. Bay recorded almost all of it and posted it online, laughing with Kai about it.
"The hell?" wondered Quartz.
