Chapter 7 Ash talks to her parents
Ash followed her parents out the door because she wanted to know why her parents left in such a hurry. "Stop right there Mom and Dad. Why did you guys leave in such a hurry? I want to know now!" Ash demanded. "Sorry sweetie it's just that we were hoping to speak to you alone" answered Frank. "Whatever you have to say to me you can say in front of Johnny. He is my boyfriend and I love him" Ash exclaimed. Johnny overheard what Ash said as he caught up with Ash and gave her a surprise hug and told her he loves her too. "We were hoping to spend time with you just like when you were a little girl," Robin stated. "You, Me and Dad hung out at the mall the other day" Ash pointed out. "We know that but you ran off so quickly that we felt a bit hurt and thought you didn't enjoy our family outing," said Frank.
Ash thought about what her parents said for a moment and replied, "I never meant to offend the both of you. Of course I enjoyed our outing. It was the first time we spent time together without us fighting about how much you both disapprove of my life choices. However you both have to understand I have a life of my own." Frank stated, "Your mother and I understand and hopefully we can have another family outing where we can talk more and Johnny congrats on your Dad's early parole and I'm glad you liked the pancakes." Ash left with Johnny with the promise of making plans to have dinner with her parents. "Do you think that was all they had to say or do you think there was more?" Johnny questioned. "Knowing my folks there is more they want to tell me but won't reveal just yet. As I said I'm gonna find out what's going on" Ash declared. The couple hung out at Ash's place for a bit making out before going to the New Moon Theater to go over ideas with Buster Moon and the others for future performances.
Later on Ash met up with her parents at a local diner for dinner. While everyone was eating Ash couldn't help but notice that her parents had something on their mind. "Okay Mom and Dad spit it out. You know when I can tell you both have something on your mind and don't want to say anything right away" Ash demanded. Frank and Robin looked at their daughter and Robin said, "Sweetie we both know you enjoy playing rock music and dating Johnny but don't you think you should think about what you really want to do with your life?" Then Frank asked, "Are you sure about Johnny? We never imagined you dating the son of a gang leader who robbed a lot of places…." Before Ash's parents could say anything else Ash became furious and yelled at her parents, "I can't believe what the fuck you're both saying. I thought you both were finally accepting what I wanted to do with my life and that I love Johnny so much that he means the world and would do anything for me. I love rock music and I'm going to be a rock star and I'm staying with Johnny whether you like it or not." Ash stormed out of the diner after she flipped the bird to her parents.
Everyone was staring at them thinking they were crazy and whispered behind their backs. Ash's parents were so embarrassed that they paid their bill right away and left the diner without taking their leftovers. When Ash arrived home she screamed into her pillow as she was furious about what happened. Meanwhile Ash's parents made it back to their hotel and tried calling Ash but she refused to pick up. "Well that went horribly" Frank pointed out. "I agree and I thought our daughter would have common sense and listen to us for once. Talking to her didn't help so I don't know what else we can do" stated Robin.
Frank thought about what his wife said and an idea came to mind as the two of them discuss what they were going to do to attempt to get Ash to give up being a rock star and end her relationship with a guy they don't approve of.
