In this AU Delilah was never murdered. Chloe and Lucifer first met at the Gillian Taylor case (2x01) Lucifer helps Chloe solve the case and she and Ella notice some strange powers Lucifer has. But he has use magician tricks, he is far to nice to be the devil.

When a criminal tried to kill Chloe (chapter 5), Lucifer protected her with his wings: Chloe, Ella and Trixie found out Lucifer really is the devil. All three ladies took that reveal well, while Lucifer made them breakfast. Dan found out in chapter nine.

Chloe asked Lucifer how he could ignore his dad's orders if he didn't have free will. They are dating, first date was a visit toNorway to see the northern lights. They do sleep together.

God listened to prayers of Chloe, Lucifer wanted to know why. God showed up to explain. During the Big Bang he gave the cosmological constant a wrong value, he needs help to warn himself and change that value. He tells Chloe and Lucifer together will give that help without realizing.

Raziel, and some more angels came to Earth, to help with a case and to see Chloe. During the case they metAdrianna Nassar, who learned Lucifer is the devil.

They noticed that Chloe doesn't get drunk and gets healed as if an angel with red wings touched her. They find out Chloe is expecting and the angel touching her, is the baby she is carrying. Thy tell Trixie and Penelope. Telling Penelope includes telling her Lucifer is truly the devil.

Ella organizes a baby shower for Chloe and her not-yet-born daughter. A few of Lucifer's sisters and two sisters of Maze join the party, a party that some continued in the Lux and there Julia and Na'amah spent a night together.

Chapter eighteen: A phone call

Chloe was told Julia and Na'amah would go to the Lux to have a diner for two followed by dancing and drinking. For the diner they would use the same guest room as they had used earlier.

"And after they can use the room for whatever they need," Maze had said with a grin.

Maze and Raziel also went to the Lux to give them some but not too sticky company down in the club, and long before midnight Chloe got a text message from Maze telling her Julia and Na'amah had been down in the Lux for maybe one hour but had gone up again.

"Is that good or bad?" Chloe mused.

"What can be bad on having sex, detective?" Lucifer asked.

"Julia wants to talk, about feelings," she answered.

"Na'amah just wants…." Lucifer gave it a thought. "We don't know. To have a good talk they also better leave the club."

"Linda and I will have a session with Na'amah tomorrow morning," Maze texted at midnight.

"That's well thought of," Chloe answered.

"Raziel suggested it," Maze reacted.

The next day came with paperwork. The district attorney had asked for details on a previous case and Chloe had to fill in papers. She knew Julia had a morning job in a coffee bar so she didn't call her until lunch. "How did it go?"

"I… I'm excited… We will see each other again in an hour, but she… She must have had a bad childhood. Hiding in metaphors. I don't know how to understand what she means by them. But I think we will try…"

"What did she tell you?" Chloe asked and suppressed a sigh.

"She says she is a demon and tortures souls in hell."

Chloe had never asked Julia whether she was religious or not. "You believe in demons and hell?"

"No! I was raised orthodox reformed. My parents still are… well my mother still is, my dad has died three years ago. But I can't believe in that stuff anymore. My mother asks me every week to come with her to church, which I do for her, not because I want to go myself. It has nothing to do the Na'amah. The poor woman had a difficult youth and she just needs someone who loves her without judging."

"I'm glad you try to help her," Chloe said. "But as we said, feelings are not easy for her."

"She talks with a therapist. Linda Martin, your friend."

"I heard, yes. You will go to the Lux again tonight?"

"No. We go to the beach this afternoon, then have diner on a pier above the water."

In the afternoon Chloe got a case: a man killed on Manhattan Beach. For a second she thought the victim could be Julia or Na'amah, then realized a man was reported not a woman. Her next thought was Na'amah could have killed any man that might have tried to touch her or Julia, so on their way to the crime scene she tried to call Julia.

"She doesn't answer."

Lucifer nodded. "I noticed, detective. They can be swimming, having left her mobile behind on the beach."

"Can't you reach Na'amah?"

He shook his head. "She is a demon, no angel. I can't pray to her."

"Call Maze?"

Lucifer took his phone and called, but had to tell Chloe: "Maze and Raziel will meet them later today. They have no idea on which beach Julia and Na'amah are."

At that moment Chloe's phone rang. "Julia's number," Chloe said and accepted the call.

"Yes, mrs Decker?"

"Thanks for calling back," Chloe said. "But is everything ok with the two of you?"

"Yes? Yes. No problems."

"There is someone murdered on Manhattan Beach and I wanted to check whether it's not you or Na'amah."

"No, mrs Decker. Not us."

"Please say Chloe," Chloe said as she had done more often the last few days.

"We did some surfing. By accident also on Manhattan Beach. We just left the water and we see flashing blue lights to the left. Some miles away or so."

"Just under one mile," Chloe and Lucifer heard Na'amah's voice.

"We are on our way to that murder," Chloe told them. "But I'm glad it has nothing to do with one of you."

The crime scene was cordoned off with yellow tape and a few uni's kept the public away. Paula Cacuzza was one of the uni's and she came to Chloe and Lucifer. "It a mess, detective Decker. I'm sorry. But a man was murdered." She pointed at the dead body in the center of the scene. "Brian Mulhouse, 33 years old. He was stabbed in the back. In the less than fifteen minutes between 911 was called and the first officer arrived, people looked whether they could help. The body was touched and turned and at least ten people walked close around and did disturb possible traces."

Chloe nodded and sighed.

"But we have some eye-witnesses," Paula continued. "And two persons captured on their phone a movie with the suspect."

Chloe smiled. "That's at least something."

While Ella checked the body and whatever she could find in the sand around, Chloe and Lucifer interviewed the witnesses and looked at the footage. It was soon clear what happened: Brian had been standing on the beach, looking over the ocean, his back to the city. A man had come with a grey hoodie, hood far over his head. This guy with the hoodie had stabbed Brian in the back, two or three times, witnesses didn't agree on that, but Ella would tell them. Then the guy had turned and run away with the knife still in his hands. One of the movies showed him running away, knife covered with blood and the hood indeed far over his head. "It was a white European man," one witness said. "He was Latino or Asian," another told them. Chloe took a new look at the footage, but could see anything of the face under the hood.

"Detective?" Paula Cacuzza called Chloe. "Can you come?"

Chloe looked around and saw Paula next to the tape that encircled the crime scene. Just outside the tape were Julia and Na'amah. She hesitated a moment. Did she have time for smalltalk? She and Lucifer had talked with all witnesses, seen the footage. More questions for the witnesses might reveal a detail they missed up to now, but a quick talk with Julia and Na'amah would not harm the investigation, so she beckoned Lucifer and walked over to the two women.

After the 'hi'-s and kisses, Cacuzza said: "Na'amah wanted to have closer look at the victim."

"A closer smell of the victim," Na'amah corrected.

Smell? For a split second Chloe was confused, then she remembered Lucifer once told her a demon has a better nose than a dog and she remembered how Maze had found that mob boss Antonio Bahamontes by following his scent trail. "Come. You think you know him?"

"No. I do not know him." Na'amah came closer and sniffed. "But I smelled that same human blood ten minutes ago also. Somewhere there." The demoness waved her hand.

"Human blood?" Chloe repeated without understanding.

"Na'amah means ten minutes ago she smelled this same blood," Lucifer explained. "Not blood from any other human but from this Brian Mulhouse. Somewhere else along the beach."

Impossible, Chloe wanted to say, but of course she had no idea what a demon's nose could smell. She thought for a second and then said: "Officer Cacuzza, can you ask all witnesses once more if there is anything they did not yet tell us? Na'amah can you bring us where you smelled that blood?"

Julia and Lucifer walked with Chloe and Na'amah along the beach. "How can you smell blood?" Julia asked.

"I have a sensitive nose," Na'amah said. The demoness swallowed and added with a shy smile: "Trust me, I really did smell it."

Chloe saw Lucifer frowning while looking at Na'amah. She couldn't figure out why he frowned.

"Did you enjoy surfing?" she asked Na'amah in order to brought the conversion on a safe subject. Julia explaining Na'amah had never surfed before, but had so quickly picked it up.

"Here," Na'amah suddenly said, nose high and sniffing. "That direction." She walked maybe ten yards into the wind and then pointed at a litter bin. "In there."

It was a normal public waste container. Chloe opened the lit, pulled on gloves and searched in the litter. Immediately her hand found something big and heavy. She pulled it up. A plastic bag with a long but small, solid object in it.

"A knife," Julia and Lucifer both said when she opened the bag.

"With blood on it," Na'amah added. "Blood from that dead man. Trust my nose."

Ella had left with the knife and all the pictures she had taken from the crime scene, the dead man was taken away by an ambulance and the uni's had removed the yellow tape. Since there was nothing to look at anymore the public had spread and Chloe, Lucifer, Na'amah and Julia were the last four at the crime scene.

"Mrs Decker…" Julia started.

"Please say Chloe."

The young woman nodded, but continued: "Tomorrow I'll have to pick up Trixie from school."

"Yes. Sorry, but I need you to pick up Trix. Adriana is going to show us a house."

"That's fine, mrs Decker. But is it ok if Na'amah comes with me and we take care of Trix together?"

Ella's lab work confirmed the blood on the knife to be from the victim and she found finger prints all over. "But not yet a match, a bit a mess of prints, making it a puzzle."

Chloe nodded, continued with paperwork while Lucifer strolled around the precinct. At half past eleven she got a call. "Maze?"

"Yes, Decker. Can you have lunch with us?"

"Us, being…" Chloe asked.

"Me, Na'amah, Raziel. But it is about Na'amah," Maze replied.

Lucifer had turned to come closer and looked eyebrows raised at her. Although the call was not on the speaker she knew his celestial hearing was good enough to pick up some words of the call."

"Of course we can have lunch. Can Lucifer come with me?"

"Mm…" Maze seemed to discuss that with at least Raziel and then said: "Yeah, we need him."

"You tell," Maze said to Raziel as soon as all five were seated in a cafeteria.

"I was not in the session with Linda," Raziel objected.

"You understand emotions, we don't."

Raziel shook her head and smiled. "You're learning quickly, babe." The angel kissed Maze, then turned to Chloe: "While Julia was doing her morning job, Na'amah and Maze had a session with Linda again. About Na'amah's feelings for Julia."

"How can it be I have feelings?" Na'amah asked with her eyes down. "I am a demon."

"I can see how you look at Julia," Chloe said. "I just saw how Maze smiled when Raziel kissed her."

"I have seen many hell-loops were things go badly between lovers," Na'amah mumbled.

"Things can go wrong," Chloe admitted.

"One day you humans love someone, the next day you abandon her. What if Julia leaves me?"

Raziel took her hand. "You discussed that Linda." The angel turned to Chloe. "But that's not the reason to have lunch with the two of you. Apart of all the confusion around feelings, Na'amah is also afraid she might loose Julia because she herself will be send back to hell."

Chloe looked at Lucifer.

"I will not send you back," he said to Na'amah. "As long as you want to stay on Earth, you can stay."

"Thank you, my Lord," Na'amah whispered. "But your Father?"

"He…" Lucifer hesitated and looked at Raziel.

"I asked Father whether Na'amah could stay," Raziel said.

"Let me guess, he didn't answer."

"He did answer. He said: after Lucifer gives his permission for Na'amah to stay, some human will give Chloe a phone call."

"What does he mean?" Lucifer snapped. "When will dad ever use the words yes or no?"

"I asked who would call," Raziel said. "But he didn't say more."

Chloe took her phone and laid it on the table in front of her. They all looked for some moments until Raziel said: "Father didn't say how long after my brother gave permission where will be a call."

Lucifer nodded. "So we better take a look in the menu."

On the table were several menus. Lucifer opened one and handed it to Na'amah. The demoness took it to only stare at it. Chloe didn't get the impression she was reading anything.

Then Chloe's phone rang.

They all looked. "It's Julia," Chloe said without taking the call.

"Why does Julia call you?" Maze asked.

"To end with me," Na'amah whispered.

Chloe's hand hovered over the phone on the table, but she didn't touch it. "Why would she call me to end with you? That doesn't make sense."

The ringing ended. 'Missed call' was shown on the screen.

"You have to take the call. Well, now call back," Lucifer said. "Or else we will never know."

Before Chloe could call back, the phone rang again. Chloe grabbed it, put the call on the speaker and said: "Yes, Julia? Chloe here."
