Chapter 1: The Bakugan Born In The Doom Dimension!
It might sound crazy, but one day a bunch of cards rained down from the sky. They seemed harmless enough, so a bunch of us kids invented the coolest game! Bakugan. With those cards came some balls that, once they come into contact with the cards, transform into giant beasts.
They had incredible powers, and no one knew why until it was found out that they came from a world known as Vestroia, where the Bakugan live. No one knows exactly why they're here, but it's not like much changes as the Bakugan don't seem to mind or at least haven't shown that they don't like to play.
My name is Ryder Shade, and I live in New York City, USA. I'm still relatively new to the game, but one day I will become as good as the Battle Brawlers themselves! That being said, I still have a long way to go.
Bakugan Battle Field…
Currently, Ryder was battling one of the other local brawlers in his neighborhood. At the moment, he had one Bakugan already up on one of his opponent's gate card. It was a Darkus Centipoid with a G power of 400 Gs.
Ryder himself was nervous for one more loss would mean that he would lose the battle. A closer look at Ryder showed that he had black hair and purple eyes. He wore a purple short-sleeved hoodie over a black t-shirt. Additionally, he wore black sweat pants and purple sneakers, and a purple bakupod.
"It's over, Ryder!" His opponent declared as he threw his Bakugan.
"Bakugan Brawl! Bakugan Stand Aquos Gargonoid!" His opponent stated as the Bakugan appeared on the gate card.
"Aquos Gargonoid G power 350 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Alright, here we go, Gate Card, open! Aquos Surge!" His opponent yelled.
"Aquos Gargonoid G power increase by 60 Gs. Aquos Gargonoid G power 410 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"I win again, Ryder!" His opponent boasted as Ryder's Centipoid disappeared, and the field returned to being Central Park.
"Nice try, but a kid like you can't beat me!" His opponent smirked before he left Ryder, who was on all fours.
"We're the same age." Ryder murmured as he got up.
The fourteen-year-old picked up his Bakugan and began to head over to his home in Queens, where he lived alone. This was for several years ago, his parents disappeared without a trace. No one knew what had happened to them.
The last thing he could remember was that they were going to Russia to help with a renowned scientist there but never returned. At first, Ryder just believed that they were staying for an extended time for as scientists themselves. If they found something that intrigued them, they couldn't help but continue studying it.
Ryder was used to such a thing, for they did it a lot during his life and would always make sure that he was taken care of. Sometimes he hoped they would be gone for a while because when they did come back, they would always take him out somewhere for some family time to make up for it.
But now they were gone, and no one knew why. Not even their fellow scientist they were helping had an answer saying that one night they just disappeared. It sent Ryder into a small spurt of depression for many years until the day a few months back when the Bakugan came.
It changed Ryder's life when the game was made, for it got him out of the house more often. Though he doesn't really have any friends, the prospect of the game excited Ryder as he played with whoever he could. Though due to him losing more times than not, Ryder didn't convince many to play with him.
Every time he lost a single fight in a battle, it shook him up and threw him off his game. He would panic and would be afraid that he would lose the next, causing his entire game to be thrown off. Though he did win the occasional battle, it was nothing compared to the amount he lost.
As he entered his home, which had been left to him from his parents before they disappeared. Thankfully there were family friends that that was able to take care of him when he needed it, so he didn't have to worry about being alone.
Ryder walked up to his room, where he locked the door and opened up a laptop to the Bakugan site. He liked to frequent the site to see if there were any new people he could brawl nearby to just see the stats of the Battle Brawlers.
Obviously, they were in the top fifty in the world, unlike him, who was down in the thousands. Other than that, he saw a notice on the website giving a warning to all brawlers of a brawler named Masquerade, who was taking people's Bakugan.
"Why would anyone do that?" Ryder thought as he turned off his computer. Tomorrow was another day, and maybe then he could win a battle for a change.
Center of Vestroia Silent Core…
"Hal-G, is it ready?" Naga questioned his minion, who was doing something with the Silent Core.
"Almost, Sir, it'll just be a couple more seconds," Hal-G responded as he siphoned energy from the Silent Core. Soon the energy was made into a small sphere that Hal-G held in his hand.
"It is complete. The Silent Orb is now within our hands! With this, we can empower our forces tenfold!" Hal-G exclaimed.
"Perfect through the power pales in comparison to the whole Silent Core, but with this Masquerade's mission will be made that much easier," Naga replied.
"I concur it will be very useful, but for now, the orb cannot leave Vestroia until the power siphoned from the Silent Core has regenerated. We will have to bring Bakugan here to give them the power," Hal-g explained.
"I see. In the meantime, then it will be business as usual and send more Bakugan to the Doom Dimension." Naga stated.
"That being said, due to the parting of the orb from the core, there was a large release of negative energy. The energy released not only in Vestroia but in the Doom Dimension as well. I cannot say what effect it will have on both." Hal-G explained.
"That is nothing new there is no need for concern," Naga replied.
Doom Dimension…
In the dark world of the Doom Dimension, fossilized bodies of Bakugan that had been sent there were plaguing the land. From above, dark snow fell upon the land as the negative energy from the Silent Orb being separated from the core rained down.
The energy resonated with the long-dead Bakugan releasing all of the negative feelings they had when they died. But not only that, but far off the feelings of two beings that were not Bakugan also joined the energy. The hatred, grief, anger, and a multitude of other feelings converged into one new being.
A brand new Bakugan was born, one full of hate of its own kind, but for the moment, it was trapped in the hell of the Doom Dimension. Though closeby, another Bakugan laid witness to this new Bakugan before leaving the area as the wind blew his cape.
New York…
Ryder walked through Times Square to clear his head on things. For once, he didn't feel like looking for a battle because he thought he should train more before so. He had just finished training, so he decided to go to an arcade to get his mind off of things though he did, however, switch out some Bakugan.
But as he walked, something strange happened. Everything seemed to slow down like it did when a Bakugan battle was starting. But that wasn't all. Soon the entire world seemed to change into a dark terrain that looked like a world after a nuclear war.
Before Ryder could question what was going on, he heard an ear-piercing roar behind him. Turning around, he saw a dark dragon-like Bakugan fly right towards him and close his jaws around him.
"Let me free! I wish to battle!" The Bakugan demanded.
Letting out a scream in terror, Ryder fell on his butt as the world returned to normal around him. Some people looked at him like he was crazy as he sat there. After everything had settled in, Ryder got up and walked over to Central Park, where he sat down on a bench.
"What was that? It looked like a Bakugan, but I've never seen one like that before." Ryder thought as he heard several footsteps behind him.
"Well, well, if it isn't, Mr. Shade, what brings you here, loser?" A tall boy questioned, causing Ryder to turn around.
He immediately recognized the boy as Marduk Smite, a known bully when it came to Bakugan. Like Ryder, he was a Darkus user, but he was entitled thinking that he should be the only one in the city. He stood a few inches taller than him with gray hair tied in a ponytail and he wore all black clothing and had red eyes.
Marduk was known to bully anyone who used Darkus Bakugan, and once he wins, he would take their Bakugan, much like Masquerade. He basically laid claim to the park as his playing ground, and he would challenge anyone and everyone who came in.
Ryder never thought he would be approached by him because he wasn't that good at the game, but it seemed to only be an eventuality. Standing up, Ryder went to leave, not wanting to deal with him right now. Though he usually lost Bakugan battles, he didn't want to lose his Bakugan.
"Where do you think you're going, buddy! I heard from a little birdy that you're a Darkus user like myself. And I don't recall ever giving you permission to use them!" Marduk goaded as he blocked Ryder's path.
"I don't need your permission, Marduk! Bakugan is for everyone, not just you!" Ryder argued.
"Oh, that's tuff talk from an amateur like you care to back that up?" Marduk questioned as he held up a field card.
Ryder didn't know what to do because if he backed down, then Marduk, who was two years older than him, would probably beat him up and take his Bakugan. He was used to losing but not losing his Bakugan.
"What's wrong, are you chicken?" Marduk questioned. Before Ryder had a chance to respond, it happened again. The world slowed down, and he was back in that place face to face with the darkness of that Bakugan.
"You again, are you here to release me? No, you are just a weak connection, one that reeks of fear!" The Bakugan stated.
"What are you?" Ryder inquired. However, before the mysterious Bakugan could answer, the scene turned back to normal again.
"So, are you going to battle or what?!" Marduk questioned a surprised Ryder.
"Am I going crazy? What is happening to me?" Ryder wondered
"Alright, let's battle. It's not like I have much a choice." Ryder replied. He didn't know why, but he felt more confident now or at least less scared. Because Marduk was nowhere near as terrifying as that Bakugan.
"That's more like it!" Marduk smirked.
"Field open!" The two yelled as time slowed to a stop, and they were brought to the Bakugan Battle Field.
"Gate card set!" The two shouted as both placed their gate cards.
"I'll go first! Bakugan Brawl!" Marduk said as he threw his Bakugan.
"Darkus Fear Ripper Stand!" Marduk yelled as Fear Ripper landed on Marduk's gate card.
"Darkus Fear Ripper 445 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Alright, my turn!" Ryder replied.
"Bakugan Brawl!" Ryder shouted as he threw his Bakugan onto Marduk's gate card.
"Darkus Robotallion Stand!" Ryder declared as his Bakugan stood on the gate card.
"Darkus Robotallion 450 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Nice Bakugan, I'm going to be happy to add it to my collection," Marduk smirked.
"Gate Card open!" Marduk yelled.
"Level Down! Now your Robotallion's G power decreases by 100!" Marduk stated.
"Darkus Robotallion G power decrease by 100 Gs. Darkus Robotallion now at 350 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Oh, no!" Ryder cried as Fear Ripper attacked his Robotallion. He had no choice but to use an ability card.
"Ability Activate Shadowscratch! Shadowscratch negates your gate card!" Ryder declared.
"Darkus Robotallion G power increase by 100 Gs now. Darkus Robotallion now at 450 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Nice try! Ability Activate Slash 0!" Marduk replied.
"Darkus Fear Ripper increase by 80 Gs. Darkus Fear Ripper now 530 Gs." The bakupod announced.
Marduk's Fear Ripper then slashed Ryder's Robotallion too shreds, causing it to return to its ball form and fall at Ryder's feet. Marduk caught his own Bakugan as he laughed hysterically from his first victory.
"I guess the stories are true. You do suck!" Marduk smirked.
"Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Juggernoid Stand!" Marduk shouted as Juggernoid took the field on Ryder's gate card.
"Darkus Juggernoid G power at 430 Gs." The bakupod announced. Ryder didn't know what to do. He could keep battling, but he had already lost a fight even when he used an ability card.
"Pathetic!" A voice yelled as the scene changed back to the dead wasteland.
"If it is my fate to be forced to watch you battle, then I would rather have stayed asleep then to wake up!" The Mysterious Bakugan declared.
"Why are you watching me?" Ryder questioned.
"I do not know, but since I was awoken in this place with no memory, I have been able to see you since the first contact. If you don't want it, then break the connection or set me free!" The Bakugan demanded.
"I don't know how to do either of those!" Ryder replied.
"I see well then if I am destined to watch you, then don't be pathetic and lose! Stand tall and fight! Do not let fear control you! Fight and destroy your enemy!" The Bakugan shouted.
"Who are you?" Ryder inquired.
"I am Leonidas human, remember that name," Leonidas answered as the scene returned to normal.
"Do not let fear control me," Ryder repeated.
"Okay, then better not disappoint then, I'm more scared of this Leonidas than of losing," Ryder said as he took out a gate card.
"Gate Card Set!" Ryder shouted, placing the gate card next to his other one.
"Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Mantris Stand!" Ryder added as his Bakugan appeared on his second gate card.
"Darkus Mantris 440 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Ability Card Activate! Marionette!" Ryder continued by moving Marduk's Juggernoid to his second gate card.
"Seriously, at least try loser," Marduk smirked.
"Ability Activate! The Shadow!" Marduk shouted.
"Darkus Juggernoid G power increase by 120 Gs. Darkus Juggernoid G power 550 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"This is going to be easier than taking candy from a baby!" Marduk boasted.
"Don't be so sure, Gate Card Open! Wall Lock! Your ability is now canceled!" Ryder countered.
"Darkus Juggernoid G power decrease by 120 Gs. Darkus Juggernoid G power 430 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"What?!" Marduk questioned as Ryder's Mantris sliced at Marduk's Juggernoid, defeating it.
"I did it! I kept my cool and won a fight!" Ryder thought as he readied himself for the next fight.
"This battle's just getting started! Gate Card Set!" Marduk declared as he placed a gate card under Ryder's first.
"Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Warius Stand!" Marduk shouted, placing his Reaper on his gate card.
"Darkus Warius G power 500 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"500 Gs as a base that's not great, especially on his own gate card." Ryder thought.
"Okay then, Bakugan Brawl!" Ryder yelled as he threw his Bakugan.
"Bakugan Stand! Darkus Laserman!" Ryder added as his Laserman stood on Marduk's gate card.
"Darkus Laserman G power 460 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Interesting, let's see how you deal with this! Gate Card Open! Darkus Booster!" Marduk smirked.
"Darkus Laserman and Darkus Warius power increase by 100 Gs. Darkus Laserman G power 560 Gs and Darkus Warius G power 600 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"I'm not done yet, Ability Activate! Dark Growth!" Marduk shouted.
"Darkus Warius G power increase by 80 Gs. Darkus Warius G power 680 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Not so fast, Ability Activate! Spice Slayer!" Ryder countered.
"Darkus Warius G power decrease by 100 Gs. Darkus Warius G power 580. Darkus Laserman G power increase by 100 Gs. Darkus Laserman G power 660 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Impossible!" Marduk gasped as Ryder's Laserman defeated his Bakugan.
"You made up those rumors about you, didn't you!" Marduk accused.
"Nope, I'm just turning my luck around!" Ryder replied.
"That being said, I have gotten this far before in other battles I can't get cocky yet." Ryder thought.
"Alright, Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Mantris Stand!" Ryder shouted as Mantris appeared on his gate card.
"Darkus Mantris G power 440 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Don't think this is over, Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Fear Ripper Stand!" Marduk yelled as Fear Ripper appeared in front of Ryder's Mantris.
"Darkus Fear Ripper G power 445 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Let's go, Gate Card Open! Energy Merge!" Ryder declared.
"Darkus Fear Ripper G power decrease by 100 Gs. Darkus Fear Ripper G power 345 Gs. Darkus Mantris G power increase by 100 Gs. Darkus Mantris G power 545 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"No, wait, I don't have any ability cards to use that means...!" Marduk stuttered.
"I win!" Ryder smiled as his Mantris defeated Marduk's, Fear Ripper. As the battle ended, the battlefield disappeared, and time resumed.
"How could I lose to you!?" Marduk questioned as he picked up his Bakugan.
"I'll get you for this!" Marduk declared as he ran away.
"I can't believe I won against him. But that being said it could have been just luck." Ryder gasped.
"That being said, I probably would have lost if I let myself panic like usual. It was thanks to Leonidas that I kept my cool. Or at least had something else to fear." Ryder thought.
"But why was I seeing him in the first place?" Ryder wondered. The Bakugan and the world it was in felt dark, and every time he saw them, it sent a chill down his spine.
But Ryder couldn't think about that at the moment. His victory over Marduk had raised his spirits since it wasn't every day that he won a battle. Ryder decided to go back to what he was doing that day.
"Well thinking beyond that I wonder if more people will want to battle with me now that I beat him?" Ryder wondered.
With Marduk…
Marduk ran to an alley as he calmed himself down. The humiliation of losing to someone like Ryder was too much for him. When people found out he lost to an amateur like him, he would lose all of the reputation that he had built up.
"This is pathetic. You lose once, and you run away like a child." A voice mocked, surprising the boy who turned to see Masquerade.
"You're Masquerade, the number one Brawler in the world!" Marduk gasped.
"That's right. I heard that you have a reputation for stealing Darkus Bakugan and came to give you an offer. But then I saw how you lost to that amateur, so I'm reconsidering." Masquerade replied.
"An offer, what is it?" Marduk inquired.
"Like I said, I'm reconsidering my offer, but tell you what have a battle me, and let's see what you can do." Masquerade offered.
"Alright, if I beat you, then I'll prove that I'm not a loser!" Marduk accepted as they started the battle only for minutes later for them to return with Marduk defeated, having all his Bakugan lost to the Doom Dimension.
"Just as I thought you are bad, but if you wish to prove yourself, then how about you defeat that amateur who beat you, and I'll let you keep this special Bakugan." Masquerade stated, holding up a new Darkus Warius.
"This one is much different from the one you just lost. This has been empowered by something known as the Silent Orb. With this, you should win against that kid, no problem as long as you agree to play with the Doom Card." Masquerade explained.
"If you win, I will give you even more power," Masquerade added.
"Deal, I'll do anything to get stronger!" Marduk agreed as Masquerade tossed him new Bakugan and a launcher.
"Oh, and if you fail and lose all those Bakugan I gave you, then I will permanently end your Brawling career," Masquerade stated as he disappeared.
Ryder's Room…
Ryder was sitting in his room, typing away on the Bakugan website. He wanted to know if any other Brawler were having the same experiences that he had. But it seemed that no one has seen the wasteland or even heard of a Bakugan named Leonidas. The only guesses some people had were that the wasteland was the fabled Doom Dimension.
"And here I thought I would find something. I mean when Bakugan started talking a while back, everyone was all over it." Ryder thought.
With Dan Kuso...
"What do you think, Drago?" Dan asked his partner, Bakugan.
"The way this human describes this world he saw it has to be the Doom Dimension, but there are still many questions first and foremost being why he's seeing it in the first place." Drago began.
"That and who is this Leonidas is." Drago finished.
"We should discuss this with the others before we reply to him," Dan suggested.
"I agree. Maybe then we can figure it out." Drago agreed.
Two Days Later…
Ryder walked around, looking for someone to battle. His victory over Marduk had indeed traveled fast, and he was challenged by several people losing most but winning some. It made it fun to have more people interested in battling him, but something kept bothering him.
"Ever since the battle ended, I haven't had any more visions of Leonidas. I still don't understand why I've been seeing it in the first place." Ryder wondered.
As he thought about that, he was stopped when Marduk stood in front of him. Something about him seemed different as Ryder noticed the odd device on his arm. The last thing he wanted was this guy coming back to battle him again, but after hearing the stories about him, Ryder knew he wouldn't give up.
"Do you really want to battle again?" Ryder questioned.
"You know it, and with my new Bakugan and equipment, I'll take you down easily!" Marduk declared.
"And I won't take no for an answer!" Marduk added.
"Okay, if we battle, will you stop all your bullying?" Ryder inquired as he took out his field card.
"That's only if you win, and this time you won't get lucky!" Marduk agreed, taking out his field card.
"Field Open!" They shouted as they entered the Bakugan Battle Field.
"Before we start, I'll use this the Doom Card," Marduk smirked as he dropped the card, which merged with the floor below.
"Doom Card?" Ryder wondered.
"Gate Card Set!" They continued as both tossed their gate cards.
"I'll go first, Bakugan Brawl!" Marduk shouted as he launched a Bakugan from his launcher, surprising Ryder.
"Darkus Gargonoid Stand!" Marduk stated as his Gargonoid stood on Ryder's Gate Card.
"Darkus Gargonoid G power 420 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"A launcher, I heard that those exist, but they are very rare!" Ryder thought as he chose one of the three new Bakugan that day.
"Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Siege Stand!" Ryder yelled as his Siege appeared before Marduk's Gargonoid.
"Darkus Siege G power 405 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Gate Card Open! Darkus Booster!" Ryder shouted.
"Darkus Siege and Darkus Gargonoid G power increase by 100 Gs. Darkus Siege G power 505 Gs and Darkus Gargonoid G power 520." The bakupod announced.
"Now Ability Activate! Darkus Surge!" Ryder added.
"Darkus Siege G power increase by 100 Gs. Darkus Siege G power 605 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Not today, Ability Activate! Ability Counter!" Marduk countered.
"Your little boost ain't going to happen!" Marduk smirked.
"Darkus Siege G power decrease by 100 Gs. Darkus Siege G power 505 Gs." The bakupod announced.
Now that Ryder's Darkus Siege had lower G power, it was easily defeated by Marduk's Darkus Gargonoid. But when his Bakugan lost, something strange happened. Instead of returning to a ball, it seemed like the world split open and his Bakugan was sucked away.
"What happened? Where did my Bakugan go?" Ryder questioned.
"Don't you know anything? Your Bakugan was sent to the Doom Dimension, a place where it can never return. I was gifted this ability, and my new Bakugan by Masquerade, and I'm going to use them both to rid you of all your Bakugan!" Marduk responded.
"Masquerade, the number one brawler! But why? Why take Bakugan away like that?" Ryder inquired.
"Because I hate losing and love winning, so the fewer brawlers out there, the more I can win," Marduk smirked.
"That's just dumb, like really dumb. I mean, what's the point of Brawling if there's no Brawlers to play with?" Ryder questioned.
"I mean you steal a Bakugan from someone just because you don't want to lose, you have no respect for the game!" Ryder hissed.
"Oh please, I don't need a lecture, especially not from you!" Marduk asserted.
"Now, then, let's keep going, Bakugan Brawl!" Marduk shouted.
Doom Dimension…
"Hmm! What is that?" Leonidas questioned as he sensed his connection to the human spike.
"It's almost like he is here. But that could mean a way out!" Leonidas stated as he flew to where he felt the spike.
Bakugan Battle Field…
"Now, Darkus Serpenoid Stand!" Marduk yelled as his Serpenoid appeared on his gate card.
"Darkus Serpenoid G power 400 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Okay, first things first Gate Card Set!" Ryder shouted.
"Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Stinglash Stand!" Ryder added as his Stinglash stood against Marduk's Serpenoid.
"Darkus Stinglash G power 400 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Gate Card Open! Darkus Siphon!" Marduk declared as the gate card activated.
"Darkus Stinglash G power decrease by 50 Gs, Darkus Serpenoid G power increase by 50 Gs. Darkus Stinglash G power 350 Gs, Darkus Serpenoid G power 450 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"You're not beating me today!" Marduk goaded as his Serpenoid crushed his Stinglash, sending it to the Doom Dimension.
"NO!" Ryder cried as his Bakugan disappeared through the tear in space.
"Ha Ha Ha that's two Bakugan gone already ready to lose the last one too!?" Marduk questioned as the tear began to close.
"This is bad. If I lose, that means all my Bakugan will be gone to both the Doom Dimension and by Marduk!" Ryder thought as he began to panic.
"I don't want to lose like this!" Ryder cried internally.
"Why are you scared? Don't tell me that just because you lost a few Bakugan that you're giving up!" Leonidas shouted.
"Leonidas, but that sounded like he was really here!" Ryder thought as he looked at the tear in space, which started to be forced back open.
"What the that's not supposed to happen!" Marduk said as a loud roar rang throughout the Battle Field. A large dragon-like Bakugan pushed itself through the tear before transforming into ball form and landing by Ryder's feet.
"Are…are you Leonidas?" Ryder questioned as he picked the Bakugan up.
"That is right, human it seems that whatever that tear was created a gateway to my world and yours. I felt whatever connection we have and managed to make why way through." Leonidas explained as he opened up and floated up to Ryder's face.
"Wow, I've never seen a Bakugan like you before, and you don't look that scary like this." Ryder pointed out.
"Flattery doesn't work on me human now that I am free of that hellhole, I wish to battle other Bakugan, and I feel that this battle you are in is the only way I can do so after watching your previous bout with this boy!" Leonidas replied.
"You seem pretty aggressive. But either way, I can't battle if I do, I might lose, and you'll be trapped in the Doom Dimension again." Ryder muttered.
"Do you doubt my power, child? I told you I wish to fight! If you want to win, then let me battle. I need to battle! I feel it in my very being!" Leonidas asserted as he flew up in Ryder's face.
"I do not fear battle, and if you want to win yourself, then neither should you!" Leonidas added.
"Okay, if you say that you can win, then I won't argue with a Bakugan who can force his way out of the Doom Dimension," Ryder replied as he grabbed onto Leonidas.
"Let's hope this works, Bakugan Brawl!" Ryder shouted as he threw Leonidas.
"Darkus Leonidas Stand!" Ryder added as Leonidas stood.
"Darkus Leonidas G power 600 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Let's battle!" Leonidas roared as he appeared on Ryder's gate card.
"That's not fair! I haven't heard of that, Bakugan! This must be against the rules!" Marduk complained.
"If it's against the rules, then show me!" Ryder countered.
"I really hope Leonidas knows what he's doing." Ryder thought as Marduk took out his next Bakugan.
"Fine then, Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Warius Stand!" Marduk yelled.
"Darkus Warius G power 600 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"He and Leonidas are tied in G power. That's odd though the last time Marduk used that Bakugan, it wasn't nearly as strong!" Ryder thought
"Gate Card Open! Darkus Arena!" Ryder stated as the gate card opened.
"Darkus Leonidas and Darkus Warius G power increase by 200 Gs. Darkus Leonidas and Darkus Warius G power now at 800 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Not bad, but I still plan on winning with my brand new empowered Bakugan!" Marduk declared.
"Ability Activate! Poison Mace!" Marduk shouted.
"Darkus Warius G power increase by 150 Gs. Darkus Warius G power 950 Gs." The bakupod announced as Warius swung at Leonidas, who blocked the attack.
"Human, don't let the power of his Bakugan let you waver activate my ability!" Leonidas advised as he flew over Warius.
"His ability, but I don't have his…" Ryder began to think before the card in his hand began to change into a new ability card.
"Wow, this is awesome!" Ryder smiled.
"Alright, Leonidas, let's go! Ability Activate!" Ryder shouted.
"Alpha Blaster!" Leonidas roared as he blasted a beam at Warius, pushing him away.
"Darkus Leonidas G power increase by 200 Gs. Darkus Leonidas G power 1000 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"No way!" Marduk cried as Warius was defeated and returned to ball form. Before it did an orb of light exited the Bakugan and entered Leonidas.
"That was amazing! You rule, Leonidas!" Ryder exclaimed as he caught Leonidas.
"I told you human do not fear battle, and you will win. I do not plan I losing to any Bakugan anytime soon either. I will destroy any Bakugan that gets in my way!" Leonidas replied.
"Are you okay? You seem very violent?" Ryder asked, getting a little disturbed by Leonidas's behavior.
"I'm fine. Now let's finish this battle!" Leonidas answered.
"Okay, then I'm counting on you to save the rest of my Bakugan." Ryder smiled as he took out a gate card. Suddenly the gate card changed into a character card for Leonidas.
"Wow!" Ryder gasped.
"Alright Gate Card Set!" Ryder shouted, setting down Leonidas's gate card.
"Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Leonidas Stand!" Ryder added as Leonidas appeared on the gate card.
"Darkus Leonidas G power 600 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Alright then, Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Garganoid Stand!" Marduk shouted.
"Darkus Gargonoid G power 420 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"I'm not done Ability Activate! Rapid Darkness!" Marduk yelled.
"Now, I can add another Bakugan to the mix! Bakugan Brawl! Darkus Serpenoid Stand!" Marduk shouted.
"Darkus Serpenoid G power 400 Gs. Darkus Gargonoid and Darkus Serpenoid combined G power 820 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Gate Card Open! Leonidas Strike!" Ryder declared.
"Darkus Leonidas G power increase by 400 Gs. Darkus Leonidas G power 1000 Gs. Darkus Gargonoid and Darkus Serpenoid G power increase by 200 Gs each. Combined G power 1220 Gs." The bakupod announced.
"Nice try, but I still have the lead!" Marduk smirked. Just as he said that another card was created in Ryder's hand.
"Use it!" Leonidas said as he held off Serpenoid and Gargonoid. To make sure he didn't lose he picked up Serpenoid and threw it into Gargonoid.
"All right, Ability Activate!" Ryder shouted.
"Darkus Twister!" Leonidas roared as he spun around, creating a dark twister.
"Darkus Leonidas G power increase 250 Gs. Darkus Leonidas G power 1250 Gs." The bakupod announced.
Leonidas flew up high, continuing to create his twister until he rammed right into both of Marduk's Bakugan, defeating them both simultaneously. As both were defeated, they returned to ball form at Marduk's feet.
"You should have known better than to challenge me, weaklings!" Leonidas boasted as he returned to ball form and flew to Ryder's hand.
"We won, and my Bakugan is safe!" Ryder exclaimed.
"No, how could I lose when I was given such a powerful Bakugan from Masquerade?!" Marduk questioned.
"You lost now, remember your promise!" Ryder shouted as Marduk ran away.
"What a pathetic human running away in disgrace." Leonidas mocked as he floated next to Ryder.
"You don't have to say that, Leonidas, that's just mean," Ryder argued.
"But it is the truth," Leonidas replied.
"Well, I guess yeah, but you shouldn't kick a person when they're down." Ryder pointed out.
"I see." Leonidas murmured.
"So Leonidas, how did you come into my battle from the Doom Dimension, and why did you help me?" Ryder asked.
"I did not wish to be trapped in that dark place forever. I wanted to fight other Bakugan. After seeing your battle through our odd connection, I knew that it would provide me with what I need." Leonidas began.
"When your Bakugan were sent to the Doom Dimension, I knew that it would provide a gateway for me to escape and do battle. It is as simple as that." Leonidas finished.
"Wow, that must have been hard. I don't know much about the Doom Dimension since all people call it is the Bakugan graveyard. That and there aren't any descriptions of it." Ryder replied.
"How did you end up there?" Ryder questioned.
"I do not recall like I told you I just woke up there with no memories of where I was and where I came from before," Leonidas answered.
"Wow that sucks," Ryder replied.
"So human, are you going to have any more battles?" Leonidas inquired.
"Not today, no, but I am in the future," Ryder answered.
"Why do you ask Leonidas?" Ryder asked.
"I wish to fight with more Bakugan, but the only way I can do so is in those Bakugan Battles, so I would wish to battle with you some more," Leonidas explained.
"Really, you want to be my partner?" Ryder questioned, excited at the prospect of having a partner even if it was Leonidas who did scare him at their first meeting.
"If that is what it takes to battle more Bakugan, then yes. I would also like to know why we are connected." Leonidas answered.
"Awesome, let's battle together and be the very best!" Ryder exclaimed as he held Leonidas up in his hands.
"Humans are such odd creatures." Leonidas sighed.
With Marduk…
Marduk ran, knowing that if he stayed, their Masquerade would find him. He needed to get home and get more of his Bakugan so that he could fight back against Masquerade. But as he ran, a rainbow-like mirror appeared and spun in front of him before revealing Masquerade himself.
"Where do you think you're going, Marduk?" Masquerade questioned as he stood in front of Marduk.
"I-I-I was just going to get more Bakugan and try again." Marduk stuttered.
"Not a chance. I told you you would only get one try, and now I'm here to end your career as a Brawler." Masquerade declared.
"No, wait, please!" Marduk begged as Masquerade opened the Battle Field. Soon time stopped, then started in an instant as Masquerade returned from the Battle Field alone, holding Marduk's launcher.
"Enjoy your time in the Doom Dimension, Marduk. It's where losers like you deserve to be." Masquerade stated as he left.
"Darkus Leonidas. I'm going to need to keep an eye on him. To think he could beat a Bakugan empowered by the Silent Orb. What an interesting Bakugan." Masquerade thought.
"Next time, I'll use the Silent Orb on a Bakugan that can use the power to its fullest," Masquerade stated as he disappeared.
With The Battle Brawlers...
"So none of you have heard of a Bakugan named Leonidas?" Dan asked.
"Sorry, but no matter who we asked, no one heard of such a Bakugan." Julie apologized.
"Same here, and Tigrerra even asked other Bakugan, and none heard of him either," Runo said.
"I have two hypotheses on the matter one is that this person could have just been imagining things or that this Leonidas may be an entirely new Bakugan," Marucho stated.
"I doubt the human was imagining things the way he described the world he saw in his post sounds too much like the Doom Dimension from the stories I've been told," Drago argued.
"So maybe it really is a new Bakugan. One that hasn't been seen in Vestroia." Alice suggested.
"True, but what would a new Bakugan be doing in the Doom Dimension?" Tigrerra questioned.
"That, and why is he contacting a human?" Skyress added.
"I agree with Skyress. Why would this Bakugan contact a human and not some of the fellow Bakugan?" Shun agreed.
"It could be that he couldn't contact another Bakugan and contacted the first living being that he could sense," Marucho suggested.
"If it is a new Bakugan, it may not know how to interact with his fellow Bakugan though I have to agree with Tigrerra does concern me as to why he is in the Doom Dimension." Gorem pointed out.
"You don't think this Leonidas was born there, could he?" Dan inquired.
"Impossible Bakugan can't come from the Doom Dimension! Right?" Preyas asked.
"I wouldn't say that it is out of the realm of possibility. Ever since Naga had taken the power of the Silent Core, all of Vestroia is destabilizing." Drago began.
"It may just be possible for the negative energy of the Silent Core to cause a Bakugan to be born in the Doom Dimension," Drago responded.
"I agree with Drago. It does seem like something that could happen, but Naga took control of the Silent Core months ago, so why would it happen now?" Marucho wondered.
"It could be that something has happened in Vestroia as of late that caused it," Shun suggested.
"If that's true, then Naga could be making some kind of move, but whatever that is, who could know. For now, we don't want to let this out in the open and cause a panic." Drago agreed.
"I think we should go and ask this guy himself about his visions of Leonidas," Dan suggested.
"I agree with Dan. We can find out if this whole thing is real or not from the person themself." Runo agreed.
"You said this person lived in New York City, right? I'll have Kato fly us all there." Marucho said.
"It may take a few days because it takes some time to refuel and fly there from where we are now." Marucho pointed out since they just recently got out of Bakugan Valley to search for the Infinity Core.
"What's this guy's name anyway?" Shun inquired.
"It says that his name is Ryder Shade," Dan answered.
"Did you say Ryder Shade?" Alice questioned.
"Yeah, do you know him, Alice?" Dan responded.
"We never met personally, but his parents were acquaintances with my grandfather before he became Hal-G. His parents, however, disappeared one day years ago when they came over to help with research." Alice began.
"We don't know what happened to them, but at the time they were helping my grandfather with the prototype for the Dimensional Transporter System. It seems that he was left alone ever since having been looked after by close family friends." Alice finished.
"How awful." Julie gasped.
"Maybe that could lead to my he and this Leonidas have a connection." Shun pointed out.
"We won't know until we ask Ryder himself," Runo replied.
"Alright, then the Bakugan Battle Brawlers are going to New York City!" Dan exclaimed.
Next time Ryder gets to battle more with Leonidas and learns more of his violent tendencies. Wanting to figure out why he is so violent Ryder tries to talk to Leonidas heart to heart. But before he can do that he is challenged to a battle by a mysterious brawler who holds a doom card! Will he and Leonidas agree on how to battle or will they both lose themselves to the Doom Dimension? Next Time on Bakugan Doom World: Partner or Asset.

Hey, guys hope you enjoyed this! If you are new yo my writing, I am ThatSaiyaGuy nice to meet you. This is the first non crossover fanfiction I made. Honestly, I don't know if I am going to continue this. I just felt like trying this out. I've never read a Bakugan fanfiction before so I don't know how others are made so hopefully I did good.
I may continue this story if people like it, or I really like how I plan the overall story on it. I only made this because I recently watched some of the episodes for the original Bakugan show, which I haven't seen since I was a kid and forgot how much I enjoyed it.
I remembered how much I loved the game, too, which if you didn't realize this story is going to adapt in a different light, but I will get to that later. Because of that, my brain thought of this story, so I thought to try it out.
So obviously, I am changing a few things from the main story if I continue (Duh), and even in this chapter, I made some changes. For one, the whole situation in Vestroia won't be as widely known unless it wasn't originally because if I do continue this, I am going to binge the old show to further familiarize myself with the story than I already am.
That and the Doom Dimension isn't as widely known as well for reasons save for rumors between brawlers. Now onto gameplay, I think I managed to recreate the original rules from the show merged with the real-life game.
Again overall, this story, if I continue it, which I do want to but who knows, will evolve as it goes on. Now on the topic of Leonidas, I chose to make him a Darkus Bakugan. This is because that's how I always played the game as a kid.
For one, it completes the Battle Brawlers early, and two, it just made sense for the Bakugan equivalent of hell to make a dark Bakugan (Darkus). I also took some liberties with the ability and gate cards using ones from real life, the show, and just ones I made up, so I just wanted to point that out.
I will make sure not to go overboard with them and just hand out an ex machina a lot like I basically did when Leonidas showed up I was just getting his cards in basically. Nor will I make things overpowered or at least I will try not to.
Of course, I changed how the story of the game went because I just found it dumb that Leonidas just appeared, and he and the character just became partners. With how I wrote the chapter, they have more of a reason to partner together than before.
The Silent Orb obviously is going to play more of a part in this and not just going to be forgotten and show up out of nowhere in the end. Unlike this chapter in future chapters, if I continue, it will be empowering Bakugan greater than the one in here. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this but I still thought why not right.
As for G power, I am just winging it here. I know they're supposed to be low at the beginning of the show, but in real life in the game, it's not. So I am keeping it at a medium for now and see how it goes from there.
Honestly, I hope I am portraying the game correctly cause all I can go on is the show and video game. Sadly I no longer have any of my old Bakugan or gate cards, so I don't fully remember how to play though that being said, I think I did good here.
Finally, about the main character's parents, I am going to explain what happened and why he was connected with Leonidas. I just want to point out that this story if I do decide to continue it, which is probable, that it's not going to be a downer and depressed MC who is rude and all so no edge main character BS.
I'm not going to make my main character act all dark, and stuff like many people might assume I hate that kind of character. That being said, it still will influence the story. Okay, I'm done rambling now hope you guys enjoyed and if you do, let me know and if not, then let me know why and how I can improve.
